"It says it was voted the best Italian beef in Chicago, but I would have to disagree. Although the bread help up the juices, the beef itself lacked a little flavor and was bit chewy. It definitely wasn't the worst, but wouldn't claim voted best in the city."
"Rosebud has a few locations throughout Chicago. They are synonymous with good Italian food. When I saw that a Rosebud opened a new location since my last trip, right on Randolph/Michigan, next to Millennium Park, I knew my group had to go. No surprise, the food was flavorful and tasty, they tend to do Italian right. I had the Gnocchi alla Vodka which was perfectly prepared. Don't be surprised, the portion sizes are ALWAYS bigger than expected. I like Rosebud, this location is open with good lighting. We sat on the second floor which afforded a great view of Millennium Park."

It was a nice summer night, we sat outside and were seated very quickly.Made the mistake of forgetting they don't provide alcohol so my husband made a quick trip to a store around the corner to pick up a bottle of wine.Skirt steak with potatoes was perfectly cooked, flavorful and juicy and the chimichurri always hits the spot!"
"I came across an add on IG for this restaurant (which I've been planning to check out) and they had a promotion to download the inKind app to get $75 off a $225+ bill so we came in on a Friday night which happened to also be around our anniversary so i mentioned that in our Open Table reservation and also requested a quiet table. We were seated right away and in the back which we preferred bc it was kinda loud, nothing offensive, but we just prefer no distractions during dinner. Our server was extremely well versed in the menu and very...lets say...passionate in her delivery. I didn't mind but it was a bit intense for my husband lol. She went thru almost all of it which we appreciated bc my husband was planning on the beef cheeks but when she explained that was a pasta meal he changed his mind. We ended up going with the hamachi appetizer and splitting the bone in ribeye and mashed potatoes. Everything was delicious and cooked perfectly. They also brought out a complimentary dessert which was pretty good but I can't remember what it was. Our favorite steakhouses are RPM Steak and Bavette's and this was on par with them. We had a cocktail and a bottle of red and everything with tax and tip came out to $340 which is slightly less than our favorites and this spot is not downtown so we'll definitely be back when we don't feel like dealing with dt traffic. If you're a fan of steakhouses, check it out, esp if they still have that promo. One thing to note is that parking is tough but they do have valet."
"This was our first night dining experience while visiting from out of town.We were difinitely floored by the quality of meats and the food that they served. When we arrived it was the fetival of events. The place was hyped and the place was packed on a Thursay night. There was already a line that was crawling with people. Thank goodness we had reservations because there was definitely a line that proceeded out the door. Once we sat, we ordered a customized seafood platter with their king crab cocktail and 4x additional shrimps. This was to die for.We also got an array of their seafoods and meats. We got their small filets and their sea bass. We couldn't help but get their sides of spinach cream and sweet potatoes. Our first night in Chicago was perfected thanks to our wonderful dining experience to the Gibsons."
"Had Sunday brunch at Venuti's restaurant. I loved the elegant and upscale ambiance of the space. The restaurant was not busy, due to it being Superbowl Sunday. This worked fine for me :) The food options were fantastic! They had the following stations: Salads (love the crab salad!)Hot entrees (lots of classic Italian options)OmeletWafflesCarving (PRIME RIB!!) Service was friendly, efficient, and on point. Used plates were removed quickly, drinks were replenished without having to ask. I was very pleasantly surprised with the variety of vegetarian friendly dishes. Don't get me wrong, they definitely had plenty of protein entrees to choose from (fish, chicken, beef, sausage). The only critique I have is that the prime rib was cold. That was the first thing I got for my meal, and I tucked in right away, so it wasn't sitting in my plate for any length of time. But it was definitely not warm, even though it was maintained under a heat lamp.Venuti's Sunday brunch is an absolute treat, and I cannot wait to go back."
"Excellent.Fabulous.Decadent.Whew, still breathing heavy after this wonderful meal. Truly a 10/10 dining experience. We were seated in the barroom, which is incredibly cozy & sophisticated. Liz, our waitress, was very helpful in guiding us through the menu & ensuring our meal was well-balanced. The caviar churros, tortilla espanola, picon punch, & bone marrow potatoes were the easy highlights... each bite delectable. They also offer a variety of steaks & seafood. Tonight, we had the tasty dry aged steak Holstein. We will definitely return & highly recommend. This is an excellent spot for a special occasion."
"The Palm is a true classic.Located in or connected to The Swissotel Hotel, it is convenient for visitors staying at the hotel and locals alike. The Lakeshore East neighborhood has really filled in, with a ton of residential high-rise buildings and several hotels. The shape of the var and dining room is unique. It feels like there are a lot of angles, which give a unique and interesting vibe. Floor to ceiling windows allow a ton of natural light in and makes it easy to watch the city nightlife too. A lot of wood beams keep the coziness apparent.I love the staff here. They really make a great place even better. Curt the Manager is incredible. He is so personable and kind. The bartenders are always efficient and friendly. For lunch, I always want to have Darlene take care of me. She is funny and personable. I love all of the food I have tried over the decades. My favorite is the GiGi salad. It is big and filling, yet light and fresh. I could eat it every day!Street parking is still pretty plentiful so there is no reason not to visit!"
"I've only gotten carryout from this restaurant which is a solid choice for Russian / Eastern European cuisine. The flavor and style of cooking is very similar to Allegro Deli, which provides selections of salads, soups, grilled meats, sides, and delicious entrees.Though not cheap, you can get well-prepared entrees for only a few more dollars than fast food nearby."
"Located inside Sheraton Grand. Convenient and was seated immediately for dinner with an unexpected very late arrival to hotel. Chill modern steakhouse ambiance. Attentive service.Nicely "Fried Calamari". Good was my lightly seasoned medium rare "Cowboy Ribeye". Hard to cut were their "Roasted Brussel Sprouts".Expensive as expected, and I have no problem coming back to this steakhouse again if I was under the same conditions as of this visit.Cheers!"
"" Holy Cow!" My favorite baseball broadcaster. Made a visit here to attend a special event in honor of a friend. The Chicago sports teams history on fulldisplay downstairs. Working our way upstairs to a private dining room with a bar and slew of appetizers. Some of my favorites were the coconut shrimp, filet sliders and the meatballs. An awesome place p oh Ace honoring an awesome sports icon. Here's to you Harry!"
"We recently went here for the first time on Christmas Eve and we really enjoyed our experience! The hosting staff isn't the friendliness, and it's not the fanciest of places... but the food was great, and the staff who waited on us were great. The amount of food you get too is crazy! Plus most hibachi places do rice with your protein... Tokyo does noodles AND rice! I'd recommend and we'll be back!"

Huge portions, tasty food, great service. I had the inKind promotion from the restaurant website so ordered appetizer, soup, entree, and dessert to make the minimum spend. Ended up with enough food for two and leftovers to reheat at the hotel. Loved the fried calamari, the sauce for the pork wasn't for me but the pork chops were good with just salt and pepper. Minestrone soup was also plentiful and nice on a cold night. What's not to like about gelato? Definitely recommend coming with other people and ordering family style at one entree for every two people.

The portions are HUGE here! My husband and I usually share the Filet and an appetizer. You can pay a split fee and get a second portion of salad. Everything from the bread to the appetizers to the filets/sides are AMAZING and such a steal for the price! The inside is dark and moody! They have candles on the table for mood lighting.

I wanted to call this place a neighborhood gem because it truly is, but people often associate that term with ugly, hole-in-the-wall spots that serve delicious food. This place is nothing like that. While the food is fabulous, the place boasts a luxurious speakeasy atmosphere. The decor is extremely well done--plush, elegant, dark, and romantic--you are immediately made to feel like a welcome regular. Welcome to the neighborhood Butcher & Bear! The food was beyond all expectations. We had fresh oysters served with 3 unique sauces, hamachi and scallop crudo, both absolutely exquisite (especially the hamachi!). The beef cheek and lobster tail with bone marrow took our breath away!As for the service, they have an all-star team. Cesar, our waiter, was knowledgeable and extremely accommodating. He later introduced us to the GM, Greg who was also super warm and welcoming. Cesar ensured all our dishes came out at the perfect time and the right temperature. His wine suggestion was a winner! The rest of the team seamlessly cleared plates, keeping our table neat and beautiful throughout the evening. This was an experience to remember, we will return!

The food here is off the charts 09/10. I had the Chicago cut ribeye and it was juicy, flavorful and grilled to perfection. We ordered several sides, the fries, the sweet potatoes, the twice baked potato, and the spinach. The clam chowder I slurped out of the bowl. It was all over the top delicious and the portions were Fred Flintstone size. Our waiter was engaging, funny, and he paid close attention to our every need. The inside of the restaurant is a wee bit dated, but it's the place to be seen. It's where all the celebrities go or have gone the walls are littered with photos of celebrities who were there and their signature accompanied their photos.I will be back later this summer to try some of the other dishes, such as their burgers and lobster. If you're driving, get the valet parking it is 16.99 much cheaper than parking in one of the parking lots near the restaurant. If you're on a budget, this is not the place for you. Three of us ate dinner no desserts or drinks and our meal cost us $400.00 which included a tip.

I don't review restaurants very often anymore, but Asador Bastian is one of the best new restaurants I have been to in the last couple of years. In a city where steakhouses rule (i.e. Gibson's, Bavette's, etc.), it is hard to create a new steakhouse concept that delivers both on food, service, and ambiance. Chef Doug and his team have done just that. I have been here now on multiple occasions just to confirm it was not a one-hit wonder and it has delivered each time I have been here. The cocktails and wine list here are also fantastic - you can't go wrong and the somms will steer you in the right direction. If I had to recommend a few things that you MUST order, it would be as follows:- Tortilla Espanola (with jamon or caviar)- Bluefin Tuna Carpaccio- Steak (I've had the dry aged Holstein and a couple of their specials -- all great)- Garlic Prawns- Octopus- Truffle and Iberico Rice- Bone Marrow Potato PureeI have not yet had the whole fishes yet but I can't imagine it not being amazing -- but the steak is really good and you should get enough of it to split among the table (it is priced per pound). The price point will be in line with other fancy steakhouses, so it's probably not a place you can dine at every night, but certainly worth it for a nice night out or a celebration.

The food is great here. I loved the Wagyu bolognese the most. Great flavor. The Caesar salad was different. Cool presentation, but you gotta cut up the lettuce. I think I got the sea bass one night. I'm not 100% sure which fish I got, but I think it was the sea bass. That was delish and so delicate. For dessert, I ordered the donuts one night and the crème brûlée another night. I prefer the crème brûlée. Loved it with the mint, whipped cream, and berries. The donuts with the chocolate, caramel, and raspberry sauces/drizzles were okay to me. I liked the sauces more than the donuts themselves. The donuts were coated with sugar, but the actual donut was slightly flavorless. STILL, I enjoyed them with the sauces or however way they are properly referred to.The customer service was pleasant. The vibe was relaxed and moderately loud due to the conference attendees, but I didn't mind it at all. I went here three nights in a row for dinner. I'd go back again. Just know though, they are a bit pricey.
Visit Restaurant Page"This was a treat for me during restaurant week. I'd never had escargot before and got to try it here. DELECTABLE! I started with a delicious cup of decaf coffee, and then moved on to the French Spritzer which was delicious! I also had the Mussels Marinieres & Frites, both of which were great. And that Chocolate Hazelnut Bar for dessert was FANTASTIC! The service was perfect and the ambiance was very nice. I enjoyed this decadent meal very much. It was overall, a lovely meal and time with friends."
"This is a great new addition to the Northcenter neighborhood! It is a very small space so definitely make a reservation. There's also a lovely outdoor patio. Service was very good all night. Our table shared the fritto misto and celery chips for appetizers. Both were very good. I really liked the two different sauce options for the fritto misto and the celery chips were very unique and also had an awesome sauce, though I wish the chips themselves were a bit crispier. For dinner, I had the pappardelle short rib ragu, which was outstanding. My husband had the pork chop, which he liked but didn't love, although I think his opinion says more about his preferred style of pork chop than anything bad about the dish itself. We enjoyed wine and cocktails throughout the night, all which were very good. Perhaps the most awesome thing about this place is the value: frankly, I think everything on the menu is actually underpriced considering the quality of the food. I can't wait to go back here."
"First time at Smoque Steak as invited to dine in the Fall Feast, 6 course tasting menu perfectly prepared and paired with wine flights. The entire experience lasted around 2 hours, I was not able to finish all the dishes and was happy to hear you can take what you want home (food only). There is plenty of parking all along the street and a private lot. Highly recommend Smoque Steak and you can purchase raw steaks too."
"I had an absolute awesome experience at Tre Dita. Vibe , food and service was a 10/10. Located in the St Regis hotel, Tre Rita is an upscale Italian restaurant offering the best views of Chicago accompanied by fantastic Tuscan inspired food . We had the house baked focaccia, Gamberi in Salsa Verde ( Shrimp), traditional Tuscan hand made pasta, Filleti Di Manzo ( Steak) , Patate Fritte ( Potatoes), and Espresso Gelati . Each dish was freshly prepared and tasted delicious. The steak is creekstone so people looking for Halal options can check it out. I was blown away by the decor and the high ceiling. The floor to ceiling glass windows offer a beautiful view of Chicago while dining."
"Our table wasn't ready so we went to get a drink in back lounge. Cute lounge. You can choose from a tasting menu or a la carte menu. We did a la carte. Pork belly, wagyu and short ribs. Korean pancakes, Kimchi stew and the grill accompaniments. Super yummy and we were so full. Meats are grilled by the wait staff. Service was great and attentive."
"Gloomy and pouring buckets outside, but inside Mixto it was bright and cheery with pretty tile-topped tables and friendly staff. We came in during brunch, so the menu reflected both breakfast and lunch items. Some of us ordered a Greek omelet, a smash burger with sweet potato fries, and a grilled chicken sandwich. I ordered a Cobb salad with grilled salmon-- the greens were fresh, the bacon bits were extra crispy, and the salmon was cooked perfectly with a whole sliced egg. This was a generous, colorful, filling entree sized salad. My friend had a cup of tasty tortilla soup and also enjoyed the chicken tostadas topped with lots of fresh avocado and accompanied by a green side salad. This was a cozy family restaurant that takes pride in showcasing quality ingredients and providing tasty food with good value. They were friendly and accommodating. I hope to return to try the dinner entrees."
"I think there is a special place in my heart for charcoal grills even though I don't own one. I have been awaiting to dine here as steak restaurants have become a hot spot for Chicago and this place recently opened up. I like that they sat us at tables where we were a table apart to give people more privacy. Our servers were nice and helpful with recommendations. We also had an Irish and Englishman stopping by the table to check on us. I assume that since the 2 original locations in those respective countries have fellows making sure these new spots are running smoothly. We ordered the beets, chateaubriand, mushrooms, mashed potatoes, and the pavlova. Everything was delicious, I would say I might make better mashed potatoes though. The meat was so tender and juicy. The dessert was so flavorful and unique and very pretty too. We would love to come back."
"My daughter and I were going to the theater and decided to give this place a try beforehand. We found street parking right around the corner and in having a reservation we didn't have to wait at all. In fact it was so early in the evening that there were only two other tables. We had the calamari and the lobster roll for appetizers, both were very good. (The lobster roll comes with fried pickles, which we did not care for.)They cut the lobster roll in half for us and by the time we finished those two things we didn't have a whole lot of room, so we ordered one sushi roll each. We had the Chicago and the Volcano and they were perfect. We had one drink each and splurged on brownie a la mode ($14!) for dessert. Their prices are a bit on the high side, plus they add a 20% service charge to every bill. I didn't mind this because they are upfront about it and tell you on the receipt that the service charge is divided among the staff, and you have the option to tip additional to your server, although it's only "suggested." And they have a few amounts calculated for you. Our server was Beckie and she was very attentive so I did add more. It was $175 for the two of us so we won't do it often, but everything was fresh and delicious so for special occasions it would be great."
"This is a really special place and an amazing experience. I went here with my friend for our friendversary dinner and we had an incredible time. We got a great wine rec from our server, and ordered a combination of specials and standard menu items. It's definitely a crowded busy little spot, and not quiet at all, so more of a vibe and an experience than a major conversation spot. Even so, it felt intimate and really special. I would definitely be back for future special occasions. Everything we ate was outstanding."
"The restaurant is beautiful, and the service and food were also excellent. Our waiter was even French, which was a nice touch to the ambiance! We chowed down on the warm bread while we waited for our espresso martinis- super tasty and not too heavy. The steak tartare was a delicious appetizer to share. The Niçoise salad was a nice portion with a lot of fresh ingredients and tasty tuna. The duck was deliciously tender and flavorful. The macaroni au grautin was so tasty and rich, we had to get two orders for the table (smaller in portion though). Everything was delicious, and we also had crème brûlée for the birthday boy - not usually my favorite type of dessert though but this wasn't bad."
"Ahh! This used to be Fisk & Co., remember that? This is part of Perilla Fare which is in West Town and I haven't been there. I had one of their cocktails. The staff and service is excellent."
"The ambiance and service were both noteworthy. It's stunning inside. -Perfect for a date. I loved our server. He was helpful without being overbearing. The food was good. Don't get me wrong. But for a $300 meal, not sure it was quite worth that. We ordered the steak tartare to start. Loved the grilled sourdough bread it came with. The wagyu strip steak was good but not a slam dunk. I did really enjoy the blackened salmon with grits, but the baked potato with creme fraîche and caviar needed more caviar and it wasn't presented in a very appetizing way. I'd have gladly paid more for more caviar on it. I load it up when I make it at home. It was an enjoyable experience and a nice change-up from your typical steakhouse, but I'd consider this a "one and done" restaurant."
"The family and I celebrated Thanksgiving here and had an amazing dinner experience. Some of them are not big red meat eaters, but found plenty of options to enjoy. 10/10 would recommend this place. People are friendly, food is AMAZING."
"Very classy restaurant, and it's fun to tell people you're eating at Michael Jordan's. The dining is upstairs with a cool walkway over the foyer downstairs. It is located in the Intercontinental Hotel and a good choice if you are within walking or Uber distance. Parking is not plentiful. There is no free bread though, which was disappointing. We got the filet which was just smothered in butter so much it had to be scraped off. The NY Strip comes with pickled red onion which I found unnecessary. Both were tender and juicy. For sides, the roasted baby carrots were really tasty as was the mac and cheese. They were pretty expensive for sides but were big enough for sharing. There weren't a lot of dessert options, so we passed on getting any. The service was good. For a nice occasion, this is a good option."
"We returned for a nice little lunch here. Roka does have a nice vibe, an airy space, and a nice background music playlist. Did I say it was nice? Wife ordered a soft shell crab bao, but as they were out of bao's, they put the crab atop a salad and charged us $6 instead of $9, nice, again. She also had their salmon teriyaki lunch set ($26) and I had their chirashi bento set ($24). Both lunch sets came with a salad as well as 3 prime beef dumplings. I thought her lunch was a good value, and I thought my chirashi serving was on the skimpy side. However, given that it included a salad and 3 dumplings, and for $24, maybe it was more on the ok-grumbling as opposed to skimpy size. Taste was delicious and it was a nice lunch overall in any event.FYI and headsup - the booths are still on the tiny side and I'm not even super-fat. Also no 'mo Yelp check-in free amuse brioche deal."
"Outstanding steak at this trendy spot. It's a unique vibe for an expensive steak place. Plenty of vintage exposed wood and unusual decor, combined with the dark, clubby, red-velvet kind of stuff that you've come to expect at one of these places. Dining is divided into two rooms, with the bar in the center left of the entry room, in front of the open kitchen. We were seated immediately, our reservation honored to the minute. Chris took great care of us. He sensed that we were in a fun mood, and he complemented us well. Made some excellent recommendations, helped with the wine selection and kept the meal moving with a smile. Thank you! The menu is as you would expect - steak of all varieties, with the usual suspects for appetizers and sides. I started with a wedge salad. A quarter head of iceberg lettuce, adorned with bleu cheese, cherry tomatoes and slices of thick, thick bacon. Tasty and fresh. I also sampled a companion's foie gras. Yes, I know it's politically incorrect, but man... this stuff is GOOD! The foie gras is served atop slices of brioche and sliced strawberries and adorned with candied hazelnuts. Yum!Because you can't get this just anywhere, I tried bison tenderloin. The 8 oz cut looks small on the plate, but don't let your eyes fool you - it's plenty. Bison is extremely lean, and prepared medium rare as I ordered is as delicious a steak as you'll get. It's tender, juicy and extremely flavorful. Shared a few sides with the table, roasted brussels sprouts are the standout. Sprouts are halved, roasted to al dente and served under thin slices of prosciutto and pickled garlic. An excellent rendition, the prosciutto adds saltiness and texture. Indecisive is how you could describe our group, so even though we were all very full at the end of the meal, we couldn't resist dessert. And since we couldn't decide, we ordered chocolate cake, creme brulee AND tiramisu. Each one is divine in its' own right, but my favorite is the chocolate cake. 7 layers of cake salted caramel icing, candied hazelnuts plus a scoop of vanilla ice cream. I can diet tomorrow, right? All in all, this is an excellent, expensive steak joint; worthy of a return trip. Food is terrific, service is spot-on, atmosphere is cool. Recommended!"
"Why 4 stars? Because everything here was enjoyable. --- --- ---I say this a lot in 4-star reviews, but everything I tried was the definition of 4-stars: nothing completely blew me away, but it was pretty much all above average. This was a large work dinner with 30+ people and everything was served family style. I regret not taking a picture of the menu, but here's what I can remember:Chips and Guacamole: One of the better things we had.Ceviche: This was my least favorite. It was just okay. Short ribs: Melt in your mouth tender, but given the choice, I am not really big on roast-style meat. With that being said, it was not bad!Fire roasted plantains: Not bad, not amazing, 4-stars!Chocolate Cookie Mousse: Maybe my 2nd favorite thing. It actually had a very subtle kick to it... maybe this was the cocoa nibs? I wanted to keep eating this but I was stuffed.I also had a couple of Rey Del Mar cocktails, but I then felt like I was hungover until dinner time the next day. I don't recommend it for people like me who have almost no tolerance, despite how delicious it is. There was definitely something else served, but I cannot remember for the life of me what it was. Whatever it was, it was pretty decent! That's a helpful contribution, right?"
"My friend and I walked in on a Tuesday evening to a packed restaurant. Little did i expect our neighborhood steakhouse will be so packed on a Tuesday evening. We snagged the last unreserved table and were quite lucky. Matty our server was polite and attentive, we had coffee, tea , lobster bisque , firecracker shrimpAnd salmon. Everything was good except the lobster bisque was a little underwhelming. Glad to see the steady flow of people @ the restaurant. Will be back for sure!"
"Food and Service....outstanding!We were visiting Chicago for the weekend and were looking for a place to grab appetizers as we had a super late dinner planned. This place had early reservations and we ended up pretty much having the entire restaurant to ourselves. Our server was delightful. He spent lots of time chatting with us about the history of the restaurant and was just overall so friendly. We sat at a table that had a tribute to a long time regular, Mr. George Burrows. It was fun to learn the history of this patron. We had the Lobster GOT, the Fork & Knife Bacon and a side of Cauliflower Gratin and OMG....these dishes were riiiiiiiiiiich!. The Lobster pieces were nestled in butter, gooey cheese and herbs. The fork and knife bacon was huge! This slab of pork belly was tender and slathered in a smokey sweet sauce. The cauliflower was extra cheesy. This really was the perfect meal and dining experience. Food and service were top notch."
"Excellent dinner at Formento's recently. My daughter and I arrived and sat at the bar for a bit while watching college baseball. Her friend arrived shortly after, and we were seated for dinner. Our server was very attentive and did a great job walking us thru the menu. Everything was delicious - two pasta dishes and a gnocchi dish!"
"I have noticed that our visitor seems to be a somewhat conservative eater, always ordering the same meal. I asked them what they wanted for dinner and they replied, salad.Since I left this somewhat late in the afternoon on a Saturday, it was somewhat difficult to find a reservation for our entire party, food that we all might enjoy as well as the wished for salad.I thought House 406 satisfied our requirements. House 406 in Northbrook is named after the restaurant's Montana vacation home, and features locally sourced and seasonal ingredients, bringing a farm-to-table experience. This sounded intriguing, especially after our enjoyable Glacier National Park jaunt last fall.We enjoyed gawking at the Cybertruck in the parking lot.The restaurant is located next to Francesca's North and there is a Sunset Foods there as well. The parking lot was extremely crowded but we found a spot next to the Cybertruck.Inside the space is rather small and cozy but we were seated in comfortable chairs at a standard table. There were a few people at the bar and small groups seated throughout.I ordered an Italian Brambleish which was a mocktail although the way they served it gave it all the elegance of a premium cocktail. It was delicious and the greenish fresh note that I enjoyed was juniper essence.I ordered the horseradish Parmesan crusted whitefish and a Brussels sprout salad. The salad was fresh and green with crisp Granny Smith apples, salty cheese and fennel and hazelnuts. I loved the horseradish sauce on the tender flaky whitefish -- a little kick but not nose-clearing. My friend ordered the spicy corn soup and the oven roasted frenched chicken breast which had a crispy skin and rich bone marrow and ramp sauce. We also split some Parmesan truffle fries. The visitor ordered a short rib and brisket burger which they liked but said was a little dry. They asked for bbq sauce and said that tasted great and helped the burger. They did not order a salad.By this time the entire restaurant had filled and was quite noisy with friends greeting each other and the bar was full. We tried Grandma Dory's carrot cake which was four layers high, although the cake was dry and I would have preferred cream cheese frosting on it to buttercream. I did see that the carrot cake was gluten free.We enjoyed the fresh and seasonal tastes at House 406 and will make another housecall soon."
"I was craving pho for lunch and browsed through Uber eats and found Standard Pho!I checked Yelp and saw Standard Pho was rated a strong 5/5. Read a few reviews and I was sold! My bowl of to go pho definitely did not disappoint and 100% lived up to my expectations!!- Portion size is generous (ginormous!)- Broth is very flavorful and hearty - Brisket was a much thicker cut than usual for pho but was tender melt-in-your-mouth deliciousness Probably the best tasting pho I've tried in Chicago (granted I've only tried 3 other places). I was bummed my Thai iced tea never made it to me but it may have been a mistake by Uber Eats. Will definitely order from again and recommend for a delicious bowl of pho!!"
