Gibsons Bar & Steakhouse

BIG & BANGING! My family came to Gibson's to celebrate a birthday and everything we had was exquisite! The restaurant was big & packed all night, the portions were big, and the flavors were big too! Gibson's masters the perfect ambiance of fancy but not stuck-up in the slightest.The service was spectacular as the waiter brought the different cuts of steak to our table and explained each one thoroughly with some added flare. He was also extremely knowledgeable and even offered suggestions that weren't presented on the menu. For example, he suggested trying the famous w.r.'s chicago cut with cajun seasoning which my dad took him up on and was glad he did!Warning: every single thing here is massive. My steak was huge, the sides were all big sharing portions, and the desserts were absurdly oversized. My family of 4 didn't finish a single thing, but we didn't mind at all because we got to take home all of the delicious leftovers! Highlights included the juicy and tender chicago cut steak, well-seasoned and perfectly crispy fries, and the rich chocolate mouse pie with a fantastic crumbly Oreo pie crust! Gibson's provides an excellent dining experience with big portions & flavors that is worth the pretty penny for a special night out! Might just be the best steakhouse in Chicago!

My boyfriend and I have eaten at Gibsons many times and the food is always delicious and service is very good. We went on July 28th and sat at the bar, the bar tender was completely disinterested. I don't believe he made eye contact until my boyfriend asked for a menu. He handed us the menus, I couldn't decide on a cocktail and he said he would make a cucumber martini (tasted like a lime martini) but it was fine. He would never know bc he never came back to ask us how we were doing. A second bar tender arrived, I'm guessing for second shift and I have to say if Gibsons was looking for consistency that had it with the bar tenders. He NEVER even made eye contact although we did swipe our menus while my back was turned. Needless to say Gibsons has a name and history that will bring people in, but if customers have staff that treat them the was we were treated they won't be coming back. It will just be another tourist destination.

We recently move back to River North. We have been experiencing great food in the neighborhood.My girlfriend and I sat at the bar at Gibsons this evening (July 28, 2024) - weird service started when we ordered a couple of cocktails, bottle of sparking water and asked for food menus. Bartender was rude from the offset and clearly disinterested.For example, the food menus were taken away without asking if we wanted food. Never experienced this ever!!! So odd.Bottom line, we finished our cocktails and sat for over 25 minutes waiting for service. Eventually I just stood up and the bartender returned. I just asked for the check. We paid and left.Terrible service. Lots of great restaurants in the neighborhood without going to places that are pretentious and disinterested. Shame as it used to be great.

If you go to Chicago and want to eat steak, you have to go to Gibson's. This is a staple and famous restaurant in the city. It's located in one of the most prominent areas of the city. I was visiting the city for a conference. It happens to be my birthday so I wanted to celebrate it in a special day. Our server was amazing. He treated us like queens. Although the restaurant is prominently male presence we had a blast. All the orders were delicious. See photos of what I had. You can't go wrong with this place. Excellent food and service.

This was our first night dining experience while visiting from out of town.We were difinitely floored by the quality of meats and the food that they served. When we arrived it was the fetival of events.The place was hyped and the place was packed on a Thursay night. There was already a line that was crawling with people. Thank goodness we had reservations because there was definitely a line that proceeded out the door. Once we sat, we ordered a customized seafood platter with their king crab cocktail and 4x additional shrimps. This was to die for.We also got an array of their seafoods and meats.We got their small filets and their sea bass. We couldn't help but get their sides of spinach cream and sweet potatoes. Our first night in Chicago was perfected thanks to our wonderful dining experience to the Gibsons.

Gibsons is a go to in Chicagoland. I love a classic steakhouse and this is a favorite. I've visited 3 locations - Rosemont, Wrigleyville and Rush St. the quality of the food and the consistent, friendly service are to be counted on.

They can hear and recognize the sound of my laughter from the kitchen and I hold an intimate experience here. Countless steaks, lobster and creamed spinach... most importantly, smiles. Smiles are contagious as is laughter! Every server that I've met over many years and all of those that I haven't... have been an exceptional, quality gain in experience and excellent expertise with engaging people. When entertaining business clients after a long day, it's comforting and rewarding to be seated at Gibsons.

The food here is off the charts 09/10. I had the Chicago cut ribeye and it was juicy, flavorful and grilled to perfection.We ordered several sides, the fries, the sweet potatoes, the twice baked potato, and the spinach. The clam chowder I slurped out of the bowl. It was all over the top delicious and the portions were Fred Flintstone size. Our waiter was engaging, funny, and he paid close attention to our every need. The inside of the restaurant is a wee bit dated, but it's the place to be seen. It's where all the celebrities go or have gone the walls are littered with photos of celebrities who were there and their signature accompanied their photos.I will be back later this summer to try some of the other dishes, such as their burgers and lobster. If you're driving, get the valet parking it is 16.99 much cheaper than parking in one of the parking lots near the restaurant.If you're on a budget, this is not the place for you. Three of us ate dinner no desserts or drinks and our meal cost us $400.00 which included a tip.

This place is great if you want to come here for an occasion. The food here is delicious and if you sit by the bar, there is a piano with someone singing and playing. It's a great vibe to the place. My friend and I ordered the burger as we wanted to enjoy the atmosphere with the piano. It was a rainy day so it was perfect to stay inside and listen to the music. Our server was very nice and let us change tables when one cleared up that wasn't smushed by the door. Gibsons has some great steaks that is always great to come and spend some money if there's something to celebrate. They have a nice selection of seafood and meat as well even though it's a steakhouse.

The food was amazing and was only made better by our server, Brett, who is one of the most knowledgeable, professional and polite servers I've ever had.
