Celebrated a birthday here and had a lovely time!Great service and a nice patio in west loop.Ordered the canestri which came with a side of meatball and Italian sausage. It was soooo good! Some of the girls ordered the large seafood tower (said it was amazing), cocktails, and everyone loved their order. They topped it off by bringing out ice cream for our birthday girl Thanks for a great night of homemade pastas and yummy food!

First off want to shout out the app InKind (this is not a paid promo haha)! I highly recommend you download it and check out the restaurant offers they have because I got $100 off my meal here and left paying $47 (including taxes) + tip! See pictures for what I got + we ordered 4 lemonades (2 each) that were $4 each. Menu online has the correct food pricing if you wanna check that out! We didn't order wine or liquor so can't speak too much on that. The meatballs were yummy.. very soft and the sauce was tasty. The brussels sprouts as well were good but I wanted more vinaigrette on top to give it just a bit more of that flavor I desired. The fritto misso was a miss for us because of the breading - it tasted like chicharrones. The noodles themselves were al dente and were quite interesting. They gave the shape of a thick spaghetti. The cacio e pepe was amazing - that sauce was everything! The carbonara on the other hand lacked a lot of flavor unfortunately. Our server was really nice. We sat outside because we had our dog (super dog friendly!)

This was my first time here and the food did not disappoint! The staff was welcoming and friendly! The house staff made sure to ask for allergies and even brought out gluten free bread for one of the guests dining at our table! The Formento's spritzer was tasty and refreshing, quite a bit of ice in it- so it watered down. The orecchiette was nice, surprisingly more shrimp than expected in it! The chili aspect of it felt a bit absent but still good! The establishment itself is clean inside-was busy from the time we got there to the time we left! Air was quite loud which at times made it hard to hear someone right next to you, but overall good experience.

Excellent dinner at Formento's recently. My daughter and I arrived and sat at the bar for a bit while watching college baseball. Her friend arrived shortly after, and we were seated for dinner. Our server was very attentive and did a great job walking us thru the menu. Everything was delicious - two pasta dishes and a gnocchi dish!

Mixed reviews for this place. We've always wanted to try it since it's such a close option to our home. The positives is that they are very gluten free friendly: gluten free bread service and homemade gluten free pasta. The gluten free pasta tasted lovely but the carbonara sauce was very interesting. We were informed after ordering that it is not a creamy pasta carbonara like most are used to. They also enjoyed that their cacio e Pepe is not cheesy or creamy as well. I think it would be nice to note that on the menu or tell customers ahead of time.

Ehh, hit or miss. I went during restaurant week and I had a great time. Went again on a Saturday and everything felt super rushed. I felt like the server was pushing extra food onto our order, very strange. It's a fun spot for an occasion, but not sure I would go again just because

Went based on a suggested as they do gluten free well. Omg am I full! I chose to sit at the bar, as I was alone and didn't want to take up a table. I was immediately greeted with a smile. I wish I caught his name but he assured meI would have no issues ordering gluten free. He was on top of making sure I had all I needed including GF bread. The app was overwhelming for one, very heavy. Should have done a salad. It was so good I kept eating and I overdid it. The pasta was perfectly cooked, the sauce very flavorful, and sausages had great spice level. Very happy with my decision to go there and highly recommend!

The beef carpaccio with truffles is my favorite. Short rib kale risotto was good too but not thick enough. Carbonara taste was very good however choice of pasta is too thick and doesn't absorb the taste of the sauce well. Thinner pasta would be better. Chocolate cake has opportunity for improvement on the cake portion as it is a bit dry. Adding sour cream to the dough process would help. I would love to go back for the happy hour and try the whipped ricotta and the meatballs. I heard it is phenomenal. And the $1 oysters. I loved the outdoor dining on a beautiful night like tonight.

3.5 stars.. came here for brunch after seeing how busy dinner the night before was. Brunch is a different atmosphere for sure. The restaurant was not busy. There were only a couple of patrons in addition to my friend and I.I giving the restaurant 3.5 stars because the kitchen was super slow despite the restaurant being empty and our waiter wasn't really attentive.Brunch was simple for me. There is plenty to choose from pancakes to eggs and meatballs but I decided to opt for the prosciutto poached eggs with breakfast potatoes. The prosciutto saved this dish and paired very well with the hollandaise sauce. The potatoes were equally yummy as they had a bit of Parmesan cheese and garlic. I had an overall good experience.

I'm pretty surprised by how average this restaurant is. This is ultimately frustrating, and given its higher price point, that puts it at 2 stars. We liked the decor and aesthetic. It is low-lit (someone across the room needed to shine his phone light onto the menu!) with brickwork. The space feels very comfortable. Our waiter was nice as well. At the outset, we asked to switch seats. We felt bad about this, but one seat was directly under an air vent. We both like air conditioning, perhaps too much, but this was overkill. We asked our waiter if we could move seats and he needed to ask someone else. He came back and said it was OK, so we sat in a cozy booth. After that, I saw him talking to the hostess who originally seated us, and I hope he wasn't in trouble! We ordered our food and it came out relatively quickly. My husband thought his chicken parmesan was good, but he didn't take home leftovers. The paccheri didn't have anything special about it - no major depth of flavor in the sauce, which I thought I'd get. It was even a bit salty. I know that authentic Italian restaurants emphasize al dente pasta, so it's more chewy than some pasta might be at various Italian restaurants. That is reasonable! But it was a bit too al dente, almost hard to chew. It's cool that it's made in-house, but it was hard to eat. Also, the portion was a bit small, which is fine. I realize that we're not at some buffet, but even with high quality ingredients, $25 for a tiny dish of pasta was a bit silly. I got grilled chicken on it, and the filet of grilled chicken was as big as the pasta dish! The chicken was kind of sad looking but it tasted OK. This was a disappointing experience. For years, I wanted to try it. But it did not measure up to my expectations - or the high reviews I see on here.
