Tango Sue ranks high even though we rarely visit. It was a nice summer night, we sat outside and were seated very quickly.Made the mistake of forgetting they don't provide alcohol so my husband made a quick trip to a store around the corner to pick up a bottle of wine.Skirt steak with potatoes was perfectly cooked, flavorful and juicy and the chimichurri always hits the spot!

Tango Sur is an affordable Argentinian steakhouse in Chicago's Southport neighborhood. Best deal is El Filet, a 16 ounce double filet mignon for $55. Love the spinach mashed potatoes that come with it! You also get salad with any entree, but they charge $10 shared plate. Loved the Berenjena - eggplant spinach cheese casserole.BYOB. Great patio setting. Entire servicing staff has you covered, including an always full water glass!

Tango Sur has been on my mind for a while now, but it took me a while to come in and try it because the picture of the spinach mashed potatoes weirded me out. However, glad we casually walked in at 5pm on a Wednesday since they don't take reservations. The vibes are classic old school, no frills let's get down to the food. I really don't like corkage fees so I was happy to find that wasn't an issue here. We split the churrasco because it's 16oz. HUGE. And the provoleta which was melted cheese, but not too runny at all. We are definitely coming back. Highly recommend for a casual date night or group meal since all the dishes are shareable.

You'll definitely need a reservation. Even with the reservation, we were seated late. That was fine because we went to the sister business next-door, which is a bar and has some delicious cocktails. The restaurant itself is BYOB. Beer or wine. No fee. There was quite a wait for the food, but we had some delicious Meat dishes, which took a little time to prepare. It's a small space. It was very warm inside, we were there in mid June. Not sure if they had any air conditioning. The service was attentive, the food was good. Would definitely go back.

Best Argentine food I've had in Chicago so far. We started with empanadas for the appetizer and they far exceeded expectations with very rich and flavorful options. Go light on these - each one is more filling than you think! You inly need one per person. All of the flavors are excellent.I ordered a Churrasco steak. It's a tremendous amount of food and could really be eaten by two people. It was a bit tougher than expected despite ordering medium-rare, but the taste is excellent and pairs very nicely with the potatoes you are given as a side. Will certainly be back!

The ambience and decor inside is great for a romantic evening. It is dimly lit by candle light which is not something you see everyday. My peers and I were able to utilize their BYOB policy which is great and unique! We opted for the $60 course which came with an empanada, salad, cheese & bread, and an entree of steak. Great price for what we got. The steak I got was very average. It was very hard to cut, a little more rare on the inside than the medium rare that I asked for. It was just not of the best quality. I would go back here and recommend it to friends but be weary of the steak and temper your expectations.

The portions are HUGE here! My husband and I usually share the Filet and an appetizer. You can pay a split fee and get a second portion of salad. Everything from the bread to the appetizers to the filets/sides are AMAZING and such a steal for the price! The inside is dark and moody! They have candles on the table for mood lighting.

TL;DR: if this restaurant can fix their lack of a proper reservation system, it would be 5/5. But their lack of a proper system completely undermines everything. Went on a Friday night and tried to get a reservation by phone throughout the week without any luck. So we came a little early (just before 7) to get on the list and was told an hour/hour and a half wait. Fine with us (just 3 of us).. we just went to a nearby bar for a drink and came back around an hour later. We were told it would be about a half hour more, but they're running behind. At the end of the day, we waited 2 and a half hours to eat. Speaking with others outside in their "waiting tent," it seems a reservation was worthless because people were waiting over an hour after the reservation anyway. It was cold, people were hungry... everyone was pissed. This is what you get when your reservation system is phone-based and on multiple small notebooks/paper. Invest in a proper system. Once we were seated, everything was great. Complete turnaround. Wonderful service, delicious food, and fun ambiance. Quickly got some bread and empanadas, which helped with our intense hunger. Very good. We got the beef and ham/cheese. Our entrees came with salad - salad was ok... nothing to write home about. We got the filet cooked medium rare and it was to die for - perfectly cooked and so tender. Well seasoned and delicious with the chimichurri. The mashed potatoes were just ok.The lemon half chicken was also so good. Very flavorful, cooked perfectly, juicy and tender. The potatoes underneath were also great. Finally, dessert... the chocolate cake was delicious. Overall, I think this is a one and done. I will never subject myself to the torture of waiting multiple hours again.. but glad I did it. Be prepared to wait.. even with a reservation. As long as you know what you're getting yourself into, it'll be good. Bring a snack (and screw top wine so you can have something to drink while waiting in their sometimes heated outdoor tent).

This has to be added to my list of restaurants for special occasions. We celebrated my boyfriend's birthday here and we both loved it.I highly suggest you make a reservation, the wait time was over 2 hours on a Saturday night.I loved the dim lighting and the decor! It was very busy, but we still had great service. I enjoyed the beef empanadas, my bf liked the Spinach one.My steak was cooked to perfection. The mashed potatoes are CRACK! I would come back k just for that. The best part, BYOB with no cork fee. They have a wine bar two doors down if you forget.Worst part is parking, very limited .
