"After seeing how popular the Westchase location (#1) is, I had high hopes for the second opening of Las Brasas along Bellaire just outside of Hillcroft. I've been missing my weekly Peruvian jaunts in NYC so this was as highly anticipated for me as anything. The place is clean and feels like an ideal spot for a casual meal. It looked and smells new, with brightness from the natural light, with plenty of rotisserie chickens spinning in the background. So far, everything is looking good.I ordered their claim to fame, a half pollo a la brasa, and was ready my food notalgia to kick in. My chicken, while juicy and tender, was a salt bomb. I tried coating it in the aji sauce and mixing it with the rice in hopes of enjoying it. Strangely, aji makes *everything* better (#2) but this wasn't the resolution. The fries were crispy, but the let down was real. I chalked it up to new establishment jitters.My next go-around included much more variety: chaufa chicken fried rice, a whole chicken, lomo saltado (#3), tallarin verde, ceviche, tallarin saltado, and even their anticucho kebab. Minus the chicken, which was mildly better this time, most things were bland. For the tallarin verde with bistec, I was kind of blown away at how much gristle and how tough the meat was. Once again, I drowned my chicken in their huacatay (aji verde) and it didn't make much of a difference. The lomo saltado was also mad salty and the ceviche had plenty of citrus, but was still disappointing given the price. Even the cilantro rice was dry. The food is 2 stars at best, but I'll give them 3 because the customer service, initial deals, and store location was a thumbs up.Before I could give it another shot, they went ahead and closed, albeit temporarily. I am not sure if they're going to reopen, but I hope they do. I couldn't tell that it wasn't real chicken at all! So good!I came back later that week and ordered two piece chicken. And it was not fresh at all! I was so upset because I had a great experience the first time. They gave me a dry breast and a half of a wing. How you give someone half of a wing and not notice? Lol So my experiences were completely different. One was great and the other sucked :-( :-( :-("

You come here!I wanted pretty badly to like Howdy Hot Chicken, and in some ways I do like it, and I think it's one of the better hot chicken places I've been to outside Tennessee, but their hot is a little too hot in an uncomfortable way but not a tasty way. That's weird for me to say, I have everything far more spicy than 99% of people can handle, trust me (it's Barbi's influence mainly).Also the sauces are a little too sweet for me. And don't get me started on the prices, although the large portions of chicken are pretty nice. But making the sandwiches sugary is something that the massive expansion of hot chicken places by hipsters has done, and I don't appreciate it.I want this stuff, but I need to have this stuff in Tennessee, and so do you, to see what it's supposed to taste like. Hattie Be's for example. It was never sweet and it shouldn't be sweet. I don't know why everyone has to corrupt and pollute the recipe of traditional stuff around the country with massive doses of high fructose corn syrup.Other than that it's very tasty sandwich, good quality chicken, piping hot, and large and filling, although service at this location was not very nice to me at all, and the prices are pretty high.A four star chain with some one star employees constantly messing up very expensive sandwiches, hence the 3 stars. The Shepherd location is much more reliable."

This order of marinated meat sitting over some good ol' sticks of potatoes is sure to stick to one's ribs! And for the chicken wing enthusiasts who prefer their bird on the saucy and spicy side, the Spicy Galbi Wings were just that: saucy and spicy! Not only did I enjoy every bite, I returned to the place the same day to savor the flavor! "We visited this location during their grand opening when everything was 50% off so we tried the cluck it up fries, dirty mac fries, chicken tenders, and bird wrap. I'm completely obsessed with the dirty mac fries - not only is it an absolute steal, but it's a crazy large portion and every single component is delicious. I end up eating this over 3-4 days and to put in perspective how great this place is, I've had this menu item 3 times now and they only just opened a few weeks ago. I docked a star because their bird wrap is pretty terrible. The lettuce is soggy, and I'm not sure why they use ranch instead of their comeback sauce. Truly seemed like a miss to have this as a "healthy" option because it doesn't blend in with the rest of their menu."

I don't know how it came about, guess it was due to being near Spring Branch which contains a multitude of KFC options. Upon walking in, everything was ready for me (thumbs up to the staff for that). I pondered as to why the interior of the dining area was on the darker side; maybe people like eating their chicken in shadowy areas? After snapping out of my own thoughts, I got back home and unwrapped everything to dig in.I went with half original and half creamy onion based on the YELP photos. Also went with an order of fried dumplings as a warm up. Probably could've done without the dumplings and just ordered more chicken or a different starter since they didnt' taste that special to me. Now the chicken on the other hand was crispy, greasy, juicy, salty, all the profiles you want in fried chicken. The Korean kind does these at the highest level which is why people are obsessed with it. Chicken also has mini fried rice cakes mixed in which compliment the chicken well. The creamy onion came on the side so I kept pouring/dipping the chicken into it since it's like an addiction. Sweet creams are made of these!I plan on trying other flavors next time such as honey butter and spicy soy and other apps such as their fries, corn cheese, and coleslaw. So far, a good impression."

"I've never met a Raising Cane's I didn't like but I have met one that continually catches me by surprise (#1) which is this location, which is just west of Katy. There are a lot of issues here, but most of it stems with their order mishaps, slow service, and portion sizes. All of these things will eventually lead to the theory that the chain is going downhill. The good news is not every location is like this one.I'd ding them harder but I still think overall, they do a solid job with the chicken, which is mostly Cane's quality. There are occasions where the pieces seem smaller or were slightly overfried, but lately they've been doing better with consistent offerings. Not a fan of the significant price hikes as of late, but just about every place is getting more expensive.The glaring issue is going to be their service. From mean mugs to slow drive-thrus (#2), I've also been the recipient of orders were a tender or two was missing. I've been avoiding this location specifically for awhile, but my recent order was solid all the way. (#3) Only time will tell if they can keep it up.______________(#1) Puzzled. Confused.(#2) This is something RC has always been good about, but not this one.(#3) Staff overhaul? Here's hoping."
