Howdy Hot Chicken

Someone come take out this fire. As I walk around the corner, I could smell the wonderful fried chicken from outside drawing me into and making my mouth water. The restaurant had an open concept with big windows letting in the natural light. The environment creates a young trendy place to enjoy a quick and wonderful meal. I order the Texas Toast Sammie medium and my friend ordered a regular loaded chicken fries mild. The chicken was juicy and huge. Inside the sandwich there was a slaw, pickles, and their special sauce. I got the medium flavor and it was perfect for me. The cashier was new and was very friendly. She was learning but had a smile on her face. She worked quickly to get in our orders and we end up getting our food shortly after.

For $9.99, you get two large pieces of tender, waffle fries, toast, pickles and howdy sauce. I ordered my chicken mild and it was the perfect spice for a non-spicy person like me. The chicken was extremely juicy and hot, fried fresh on the spot. The dry hot rub was a perfect complement to the tender. The waffle fries were lightly salted and the toast was buttered to perfection.With plenty of hot chicken places to choose from, Howdy's is definitely on the list of places to go.

You come here!I wanted pretty badly to like Howdy Hot Chicken, and in some ways I do like it, and I think it's one of the better hot chicken places I've been to outside Tennessee, but their hot is a little too hot in an uncomfortable way but not a tasty way. That's weird for me to say, I have everything far more spicy than 99% of people can handle, trust me (it's Barbi's influence mainly).Also the sauces are a little too sweet for me. And don't get me started on the prices, although the large portions of chicken are pretty nice. But making the sandwiches sugary is something that the massive expansion of hot chicken places by hipsters has done, and I don't appreciate it.I want this stuff, but I need to have this stuff in Tennessee, and so do you, to see what it's supposed to taste like. Hattie Be's for example. It was never sweet and it shouldn't be sweet. I don't know why everyone has to corrupt and pollute the recipe of traditional stuff around the country with massive doses of high fructose corn syrup.Other than that it's very tasty sandwich, good quality chicken, piping hot, and large and filling, although service at this location was not very nice to me at all, and the prices are pretty high.A four star chain with some one star employees constantly messing up very expensive sandwiches, hence the 3 stars. The Shepherd location is much more reliable.

Place is clean, service was fast. That part was appreciated. However, chicken seemed a bit dry, even for fried food for me. I'll have to give it another shot sometime, but I was not as impressed as similar places around.

Hello there it's me again I'm eating at Howdy hot chicken in Sugarland and I have to tell you the chicken is moist tender and the coleslaw is perfect. So if you're in this area, please stop by and eat this chicken. It is really great. get the howdy Sammy with some American cheese and a nice cold Dr Pepper and you will be in hog heaven. This is my fifth time coming here and it's been great every time I come here so please stop by and have a great meal.

TLDR: Howdy Hot... maybe not. Service: 5.1/10They take your order in a straight forward manner... that's it. No welcome, small talk, or even general hospitality in tone of voice. Food: 6.2/10Ordered the Mac N Chick and just wasn't amazed by anything to be honest. For starters, roughly a third of the macaroni elbows were dried out and incredibly chewy. Almost like a stale fruit roll up texture. The chicken (Heat Up/Medium) had a pleasant level of spice, but the batter didn't adhere so well to the meat. The spiciness was however, well balanced by the bread and butter pickles and slaw. Not much more to write about here. It was aight...

Have been hearing of this place and how wonderful it is. Decided to grab a quick bite, and it is definitely worth the hype. The vibes inside of the restaurant are super southern hip. The food spoke for itself. The chicken was rated by spice level, and different ways it was prepared. I was so excited to find a piece of toast at the bottom of the fries and chicken. Definitely worth the drive and money for this delicious, mouth watering chicken.

Great flavor. I went with the medium spice level which had plenty of spice. The waffle flags were good. The single Sammy and fries was plenty of food for lunch.

Cashier named Toni is more focused on her show on her phone and eating than actually seeing customers walk in the building. Twice customers came inside and she didn't even bother to look up until we were at the counter just waiting. Coughing and rarely covering mouth. If it was for the gentleman that is cooking my food in most cases would have walked out. There has to be things that should be taken care of but clearly this young lady does not care for this job. Restock the water, clean tables, through empty boxes out, wipe down soda machine. The dude had to scream the young ladies name just to get her attention to get food to hand to me.Will not be returning at all.
