Las Brasas Charcoal Chicken

After seeing how popular the Westchase location (#1) is, I had high hopes for the second opening of Las Brasas along Bellaire just outside of Hillcroft. I've been missing my weekly Peruvian jaunts in NYC so this was as highly anticipated for me as anything. The place is clean and feels like an ideal spot for a casual meal. It looked and smells new, with brightness from the natural light, with plenty of rotisserie chickens spinning in the background. So far, everything is looking good.I ordered their claim to fame, a half pollo a la brasa, and was ready my food notalgia to kick in. My chicken, while juicy and tender, was a salt bomb. I tried coating it in the aji sauce and mixing it with the rice in hopes of enjoying it. Strangely, aji makes *everything* better (#2) but this wasn't the resolution. The fries were crispy, but the let down was real. I chalked it up to new establishment jitters.My next go-around included much more variety: chaufa chicken fried rice, a whole chicken, lomo saltado (#3), tallarin verde, ceviche, tallarin saltado, and even their anticucho kebab. Minus the chicken, which was mildly better this time, most things were bland. For the tallarin verde with bistec, I was kind of blown away at how much gristle and how tough the meat was. Once again, I drowned my chicken in their huacatay (aji verde) and it didn't make much of a difference. The lomo saltado was also mad salty and the ceviche had plenty of citrus, but was still disappointing given the price. Even the cilantro rice was dry. The food is 2 stars at best, but I'll give them 3 because the customer service, initial deals, and store location was a thumbs up.Before I could give it another shot, they went ahead and closed, albeit temporarily. I am not sure if they're going to reopen, but I hope they do. Looking for a halal restaurant nearby the medical center that's not Mediterranean or burgers lol and found this place. This looks like fast food on the outside (it did come out fast!) but they serve proper meals. We both got the Bisket a lo Pobre and it was EXCELLENT! Steak was flavorful and perfectly cooked. Plantains were great and not oily. Accompanying sauces also tasty. They have 3 fresh made juices that'll take you back to South America. AND they serve Inca Cola :)I'll definitely come back to try the chicken as that's what their specialty is.

Ordered recently a sandwich that was so salty and over seasoned I couldn't tell what the meat was. And it just did not taste good. The other thing was it took about an hour to my sandwich. I'm sure they have good food but with my overall experience I will think hard before ordering here

Read good reviews and wanted to try chifa: Peruvian Chinese food. Got a regular family meal of lomo saltado for $27 which is big enough to feed 3 to 4 adults. Came with rice and fries. Beef are tender and flavorful. One star off as it was too salty for us. Too much sauce so the fries are a bit soggy when we got home with a 15 mins drive. Very friendly staff and will be back for their pollo!

I love coming to Las Brasas for their charcoal chicken. The food here is banging! Those plantains have the perfect sweetness. The skin on the chicken has a slight crispness and the meat is sooo tender. I always order their salad as well which is made up of onions and peppers. It just takes the flavor to a whole new level. This is one of my favorite go to meals.

I read all the rave reviews on this restaurant, so hoping that the reviews were correct, we ordered a whole chicken dinner!The chicken was good, but they cut it funny so had to be careful of the bites cause there was small bone fragments The steam vegetables were bland no seasoning not even salt and pepper The salad was not fresh, shredded lettuce from the bag, cucumbers old same with the tomatoes Didn't try the black beans So I had to give a bad review cause it wasn't worth the price we paid

Hidden gem Houston!!!!! Check this place out. I ordered an ENTIRE chicken, 3 sides & 2 liters of soda and it was only $23! My husband has never lived me more for bringing home an affordable meal for once. We live in Sugar Land and there is another similar place who shall not be named that would charge us $80+ for the exact same meal.The chicken was flavorful and perfectly cooked/spiced. Plantains we're authentic and tasty. Yucca fries were a good size and yummy. Highly recommend-will post food pics next order. We were starving & gobbled everything down.

Delicious chicken and family meals. Found this place on UberEats one day. I was looking to feed the family and they had an awesome package for a whole chicken with 3 large sides, including a 2 Liter soda. The chicken was delicious and well seasoned. Wasn't dry but even if it was, they gave plenty of sauce. There was a spicy red sauce and a fresh cool creamy green sauce. The kids enjoyed the chicken and cilantro rice. We also got the fried rice to try. Everything was great and would recommend the place to try. There are also catering tray options.

The chicken was good but the black beans & rice was horrible. Taste like the beans were pour from the can to the warmer. The rice was very hard.
