We were there for brunch and was not disappointed. Well I was disappointed that it was too early for my type of drink but there were mimosas flowing here and they looked refreshing. I want to head back for dinner and drinks when I am back in town!"

Tiffany J. "It's been years since I've eaten at Hearsay Market Square. My friend and I were on the hunt for dinner and realized we were close to Hearsay. One thing I remembered from previous visits was that the tables fill up fast. I wasn't sure what to expect on a Sunday, but we arrived around 5:30 pm and they only had bar seats available. Not long after we sat down, the bar seats were full. Make a reservation or get there early.Frances was our bartender/server and she was really sweet. She made us a gin cocktail that she created and is not on the menu. She doesn't have a name for it, but she was adamant that we would like it and she was right! I really enjoyed it! It had a citrus profile. For my second drink, I had the El Pepino. I subbed vodka in place of the tequila and it was quite good. As I browsed the menu, I realized that they no longer have the beer battered asparagus on the menu. That appetizer was so yummy, but I appreciate the fact that they update the menu. I spotted deviled eggs and immediately ordered them. Unfortunately, these fell a little flat for me. They weren't bad, but they didn't wow me. For my entrée, I ordered the beef short rib. It came with cheddar grits and bacon Brussels sprouts. This dish was fantastic! The beef was tender, and the sides were so flavorful! I loved it. The portion was a great size and I ate all of my food. Needless to say, I left full and satisfied."

Yes, the owners are native New Yorkers! I got the lox and it was pretty darn tasty. Make sure you do not leave out the scallion cream cheese! It is not to be missed. I also tried a latte which was just alright. I think the winner here is their food. The restaurant is HUGE and great for bringing loved ones. It did get pretty busy in there and loud. So, if a bustling diner feel is not your thing maybe go elsewhere. Phenomenal service as well. I will say I did like it enough to return. Vlad V. "I stopped by Xochi for lunch on a Thursday for my birthday. Located downtown, we parked at the metered parking across the street. Valet is also an option. With this Mexican restaurant being located close to Discovery Green, self-parking is not easy. But definitely worth it for a Hugo Ortega restaurant. One of Houston's most famous chefs, and a James Beard winner at that, I've tried out a lot of his other restaurants in town. Xochi had been on my list for a while. The restaurant is attached to the Marriott Marquis. We were seated promptly and started to look over the menu. The ambiance at Xochi is nice. Fresh and modern with an emphasis on Mexican decor. Hugo Ortega is from Oaxaca which is renowned in Mexico for its cuisine. I started off with a Mexican beer I had never had before and then tlayuda de res. The tlayuda is a popular street food in Oaxaca and it was my first time having it. The best way to describe it is think of a Mexican pizza. Start with a crisp large tortilla and then add skirt steak, chicilo mole (the sauce), quesillo (the cheese), and black beans. It's a visually appealing dish and something different than anything I've ever had. Not my favorite but the beef was flavorful. The service was fantastic. Our waiter was attentive and had an attention to detail. You can tell that Hugo trains his staff very well. He asked us if we were celebrating anything and we told him that it was my birthday. They provided me with a complimentary flan with "Happy Birthday" written in chocolate and a candle. Super nice of them! We also tried their Oaxacan hot chocolate and churros. The hot chocolate is made tableside which is a cool experience. The churros were delightful---one of my favorite desserts but the hot chocolate was lukewarm so this was a mess. Overall, a little room to tie up some loose ends but a great restaurant!"

Masaru O. "I think it's been 12 years since I visited (I no longer live in Houston), but Pondicheri and Indika have been on my radar since their beginnings since I went to lower and middle school with the owner's daughter. We got both samosas to start. They were smaller than expected, I liked the goat more which also has a kick. Between the 3 of us, we got the Tuesday fried chicken special, green masala shrimp, and lamprais curry. Portion size is good, not huge like you may see at more "standard" Indian restaurants. What I enjoyed about the meal is the variety of flavors and textures. I love parties in my mouth, and Pondicheri delivered. We did make a reservation and "reserved" the special which is good because they did run out otherwise tonight. The fried chicken is an Indian take on chicken and waffles. The dwaffle (dosa waffle) has great chew and some crispiness and a savoriness that goes well with the sweet syrup that's also on it. Lamprais was just a unique mix of flavors not quite like anything I've really had before. I only had a bit of the shrimp since I'm technically allergic and don't really like it, but my sister enjoyed it. The utthapum is similar to a fermented pancake and was another flavor I liked. For dessert we got a chai pie bite and the saffron cheesecake. I only had a small bit of the pie bite but was pleasantly surprised by the custard texture which I was wary about. The saffron cheesecake was delicious, from the aromatic sauce to the creamy (I assume) saffron-ness."

I drove past this place before a few times and it always caught my eye; glad I got to stop in here and check it out. It's kinda small but inviting with seating at the bar, outdoor, or in the lounge with the sofas and cushioned lounge chairs. Outdoor seating has some fireplaces/heaters to keep you warm in case Texas decides to freeze over. Now for the cocktails, they have a variety of frozen and handcrafted drinks that the bartenders/mixologists take pride in concocting and would make any customer blush with endearment upon it's first sip. Prime example is the moulin rouge cocktail, served in a champagne coolie with a roasted rosemary garnish. Very easy to drink with sweetness from the fruit and bubbliness from the champagne. You can also do what my friend did which is order the frozen rose or frozen mojito; both are easy to drink and tasty although a bit too sweet for me. The bohemian empress was another drink I ordered that had a purple tint due to the st germain, cloves and rosemary garnish. Also a pleasure to sip with the combination of gin and indian tonic water.Didn't try any food here although the menu looked appetizing. Definitely next time when I'm in this area. Also enjoyed the action of sitting outside next to the fire and chatting it up with people while also people-watching and silently judging. Because, like all of the others, this is a good choice for Tex-Mex. --- --- ---There are 4.8 million Tex-Mex restaurants in the Greater Houston area and 3.2 million of them are 4-stars: they provide enjoyable comfort food that's not going to change your life, but you certainly aren't going to regret it. Teotihuacan is one of the 3.2 million.I found it a few months ago on some "Best Tex-Mex in Houston" list, and have always been interested to try it since then. My wife is always down for Tex-Mex, so on a trip from the northside of town to the southside of town, we made a pit stop here. We did what we always do and ordered chips and queso as an appetizer, and then split beef & chicken fajitas for two. The great: the queso and the tortillas. Also, the time that it took our food to come out, which was shockingly quick. The good: everything else. The most interesting thing about the experience was parking in an overflow lot, which also happened to have a couple of houses in the parking lot. Literally there was a house that was in the parking lot. Parking space, parking space, parking space, 30 feet of pavement.... front door. So weird. And there were also a couple of houses across the street that looked like they had been through a couple of World Wars, but I guess that's the Heights for ya."

We immediately went to the bar area to hang which had an easy-going crowd so ambiance was pleasant and chill although it was a bit noisy due to the tv's and music. Bartender got us some drinks and explained happy hour price variances. Drink prices are cheaper the earlier you arrive and then increase in $1 increments at the top of every hour (i.e. $3/drink at 3PM, then $4/drink at 4PM, etc.). Their cocktails are quite tasty such as their Lynchburg Sour and Spicy Goldrush (both are happy hour specials). The spicy goldrush is probably my favorite one with the bourbon and hint of sweetness & sourness. As for food, we went with the sliders, buffalo chicken meatballs, and the charcuterie board. I decided to try their Lynchburg Sour which was really good. Good enough that I stuck with that drink the entire time. For food I started with the slider duo, which is two mini sized burgers. Sliders were a good size with cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and pickles on the side; probably my favorite appetizer. The buffalo chicken meatballs have 5 per order and served in this ranch/buttermilk dressing with carrots and celery; pretty tasty. The charcuterie board has an asssortment of meats and cheeses along with a sliced baguette, giardiniera, and some roasted pistachios. I decided on ordering a glass of merlot with it since wine pairs well with charcuterie. Good overall. It was a pleasant experience; I'm sure I'll be back for another happy hour or even to have a proper meal here sometime!"

But it's always past the closing time. I went there last night. Simply because I was really hungry after an event at Houston Eagles. I remember it was shortly after 9. Because I was going to get in the VIP line at South Beach. But I thought maybe I can grab a quick dinner. Then, head there before 10. Since the menu is simple, I thought my order would be quick. Guess what? It was a long wait for Crispy Cauliflower. I already wrote a Yelp review and posted photos at a different restaurant by the time the appetizer came. I was very disappointed with the "crispy" part. The only crispy thing was the rehydrated raisins. The waitress came to take the order shortly before I finished the appetizer. I ordered Italian Beef Panini Dip with salad. The food was fresh. The dip was too salty. The roast beef was bland, maybe because I asked for no cheese. Oh by the way, I don't see any vegan dishes. Everything has cheese. Vegetarian maybe. I had to ask for no cheese because I'm lactose intolerant. Sadly, the kitchen failed to replace the saltiness of cheese with something. Another problem, waitress didn't come by to check on my water level or how I was doing. I saw another waitress stepping on a chair to reach for wine bottle behind me. She did say "excuse me". But don't you have stepladder? That's a safety hazard for your employees. While I was not getting any attention, I wrote my second review and posted some photos and videos at a different restaurant. I was about to finish my third review; waitress finally came to check on me. It got me thinking. Was I not fit for the crowd? Was it because I'm Asian? What a miserable dining experience. While looking at the check-in offer on lunch, I'm contemplating whether I should come back. I need some explanation first."

I can't wait to have more next time I'm here.I am not a person who generally gets excited about a house side salad, but I have to tell you that their dinner salad was so good that it was a shock. Mr. Picky absolutely mowed through his Mezzaluna ravioli, making enjoyment noises with every bite. I stole a bite with sauce and understood his love of the Marsala sauce and mushrooms. Then I dug into my chicken parm stuffed with mushrooms and other wonderful things, and added a little extra grated Parmesan. All I can say is that it was so delicious, was packed with rich flavors, and I could have kissed the chef for using plenty of garlic to create that dining experience. We finished by trying the Tiramisu and pecan pie with ice-cream.
