Steve A. "Had pretty great drinks and food at this upscale place in the Loop. It's actually not that expensive when considering quality. 90th Meridian is located in the historic Central Standard Building at Jackson and LaSalle and is popular for lunch weekdays. Maybe the hours could be better, but it's good for downtown workers of course. There's a good variety to choose from including Italian and Mediterranean. A bad thing about it is the hours. It's only open Tuesdays to Thursdays for lunch into the evening and closes pretty early too. The restaurants in The Loop cater to downtown workers. Even so, the hours still are pretty limited. Last time around here it was open though. It's about $15 for a cocktail. Kind of a lot it seems, but not for around here. Since this is by the old Stock Exchange, the menu has a theme. I got the Closing Bell. This was made with Aperol, lime juice, luxardo maraschino, and Mezcal. Citrusy and sweet is a good way to describe it. The food was good too. It's about $15 for an entree. There's meats such as fish, and sandwiches. A lot to choose from. I got the Falafel Wrap. Big one. This had arugula, avocado, cucumbers, harissa hummus, and radish. Good place if around here during the week at lunch. It's just limited for when it's open. There's meaty items as well as ones for vegans and vegetarians."

The price is justified for the ambiance as you feel like you're in a private greenhouse oasis complete with a large fountain and a huge sunroof. Great place to meet up for a fancy date with friends or family and take in the beautiful furniture in the rest of the building after the cafe. We ordered a bunch of empanadas (shrimp, spinach, beef). Our server gave us ham empanadas by accident but corrected them by bringing us the shrimp a few minutes later. We got 2 pitchers of their sangria because it was sooo refreshing, especially on a hot day. We got our entrees, I got the chicken in chimichurri sauce. It was a bit salty but the fries were good. The steaks were very good. Our waitress always checked up on us. Place was very clean. Chicken was cooked very well but the saltiness sorta ruined that. I would definitely recommend this place. Tucked away in a corner of the city you don't go to by chance is a nicely appointed restaurant. Upon entering we were promptly greeted and seated given menus and started looking over the choices. There are no pictures on the menu, the names of the dishes are somewhat familiar. The server gave us a few minutes to go over the menu before coming over and offering to explain the menu to us. She was so kind and patient and answered all of our questions, she made some recommendations that we decided to go with. Fried manti, a delicious fried dumpling with a well seasoned beef and onion filling. Boso lagman, a fried noodle dish with beef, green and red peppers the noodles were very good and tasted house made, they were served in a light tomato sauce and I would absolutely order again. The Plov is a spiced rice dish served with lean chunks of lamb on top. The server brought us some complimentary berry compote drink sweetened lightly with honey and some fried beignets served with a thinned out clotted cream. The serving sizes were massive, each order was enough for 2 people with hearty appetites. Everything was amazing, this is a great addition to the neighborhood and I think they will be around for a long time."

We were seated at the bar in the back. I feared I'd trip on people as we made our way to our seats. With dark paneled walls, leather seating, and really dim lighting, it feels really masculine in there. My date just need a smoking jacket and a pipe and he'd be set. Order the milk bread and the whipped quark with honey and thyme. Seriously. I could have eaten it all. I was piling it on that perfect milk bread. Eating like I was raised in the barn that I actually was. I enjoyed my fried whole sea bass, but it didn't seem to have enough meat on it for a girl who protein loads. In the dark, it was hard to tell if all of it was edible parts of the fish. Thank heavens the garlic fried rice was quite generous of I'd have been hungry. He ordered the pork chop and it was seasoned beautifully. He thought it was a bit fatty, but I thought it was perfect. He's kinda picky about meat fats, so don't listen to him. Fat is where the flavor is. We split a Tres Leches. We both enjoyed that, but agreed we didn't like the chewy bits sprinkled on the dessert. Tres Leches should be smooth and creamy in my opinion. I didn't like gummy bits in my bites of cake. Service wasn't slow at all. -A complaint that I read in reviews. We were seated at the bar where we couldn't be forgotten though. It has more of a hipster feel than somewhere like D4 and Dublin, with a laidback too cool for you kind of atmosphere that fits in around Old Town. Gets busy at times but it hardly gets rowdy in here. This is more of a place where bartenders discuss their indie playlists rather than belligerently talk about boobs and stuff. Beers of course include Guinness. It also has a fairly good amount of crafts, with many that are local. They also have plenty of liquors but a surprising lack of variety of Irish whiskey. It's $8 for a Jameson. That seems kind of a lot but oh well. It's ice cold. They also have a better than expected food menu. Besides the typical pub grub, vegetarians can have a Chipotle Black Bean Burger. It's $14, which is definitely overpriced. This comes with on a brioche or a pretzel bun with a side. It's the only thing I've eaten here. The rest of the menu is meaty. For another Irish pub it has charm. It also has an upstairs good for private events. This is best for large groups and parties."

When my family and I visited, the restaurant was almost full, given the small space and limited seating. Luckily, there was a table available for us and we didn't have to wait. They have an extensive menu with a good variety to choose from. We ordered papaya salad, spring rolls, chicken pad thai (mild), chicken Penang curry noodles (medium spicy), and beef Khao soi (extra spicy). The appetizers didn't take long to be served, but the entrees did take a bit longer than expected. I am guessing they were busy with takeout orders. The papaya salad was refreshing and tasty. The spring rolls were just okay. We have had better tasting ones elsewhere. The entrees were flavorful and delicious. The flavors of Penang curry and Khao Soi were to our liking. The only critique I had about these two dishes was that their curry side was very runny. Usually, we have had thicker curry sauce for these dishes elsewhere. The pad thai was good and my son liked it. We received good service and the prices were very reasonable. This was a good find, and we liked our meal. Check them out if you haven't been here before."

Dearly Beloved

Molly T. "Dearly Beloved is an experience. It's teetering on the edge of doing too much but that makes it memorable. The drinks are as unique as you'll ever find and the space itself is cavernous, ornate, and varied -- certainly not the typical cocktail bar vibe. This is not the place for your classic cocktails. They have some twists on classics, but most of what you'll find is in a category all its own. It is very likely that you will not recognize most of the ingredients in the drinks that you order. The drinks are a Willy Wonka-type experience, in that they are disorienting, curious, magical, and overall very enjoyable. We came here at around 10:30 on a Friday night. Despite being relatively new it was quite busy, most of the prime seating already having been reserved. We were seated in kind of a no man's land, in the center of the space, which wasn't the best for ambiance but not necessarily bad either. The host and our server were both super attentive and helpful, which was impressive considering how many patrons were here at the time. As I mentioned, the drinks here are as singular and experimental as you'll find just about anywhere. We stuck to the signature cocktails part of the menu to get the full experience, but if you're not quite ready to dive into the deep end there is a "curated classics" menu with easily identifiable variations on more traditional drinks. To start, I got the Waiting for the Moon (Iichiko saiten shochu, snap pea infused glendalough wild botanical gin, sirene americano bianco, luxardo limoncello, cheese moon), bright and vegetal, a little citrusy, kind of like a garden in a drink but on the spirit-forward side. Perhaps had some white negroni vibes, if I absolutely had to compare it to a classic drink. I feel like I virtually never get edible garnishes on drinks these days (aside from martini olives) so the cheese moon (tastes like those flaky cheesy twists they sell at Trader Joe's) was fun. While with my first drink I kind of knew what to expect, I opted for a second drink that was much more of a wild card. I ordered the Beautiful & Damned (ritual sister smoked pineapple, amara di arancia rossa, matchbook squash, finochietto cordial, dandelion honey, fenugreek, freeze dried manuka honey), described on the menu as "resinous, complex, boozy". The base spirit is a smoked pineapple brandy, while one of the amaros used is a squash amaro. Where do they find this stuff?? 12/10 for creativity and innovation here. Unlike anything you'll ever try, in a good way.I can't remember the names of the drinks my partner got, but one was not great while the other was fantastic. I remember the first had some chai whipped cream type of thing and was way too sweet, and the second one was like this peanut buttery clarified-type thing that was really fun and tasty."

Among 5 people, we ordered Dabeli, Pav Bhaji, Dahi Puri Chat, Papdi chat, Samosa and Falooda. Dabeli was pretty good. The filing inside mine wasn't completely heated, was kinda cold. The spice was good. OG fans, it misses pomegranates, but I can imagine that it's tedious to arrange. Each order comes with two dabelis so be aware of that.Pav Bhaji was good. The Bhaji was alright. The Pav/bread was heated and buttered perfectly. The order comes with 4 Pavs so doesn't need an order of extra bread. Dahi Puri Chat and Papdi chat were both good. If I had to choose, I'd pick Papdi chat. Samosa was alright. Not bad, not great.Falooda- I'd suggest to skip it even and especially if you love Falooda. The vermicelli was odd, there's no ice cream and it tastes exactly like rose milkshake. Not much beyond it. In all, it does the job and satisfies your Indian food cravings. Don't expect it to taste like Indian street food standards. Definitely one of the good joints in the US. Service was good, and we didn't have to wait a ton for our food. P.S. Ryne D. "Missed being first to review by just a few hours! Ah well, we didn't even know this location existed until this morning anyway. A few months ago my friend hosted a Korean chicken night out in the burbs, and ordered chicken from a bunch of different places. CM Chicken (aka Choong Man Chicken) was the unanimous winner, though to be fair other places had sauced chicken and that just doesn't do well unless you have it fresh. We walked over and it was a little busy, but we were able to get a table with a high chair for our baby. There was K-pop playing on the TVs, though the music playing didn't match them? We placed an order for the nugget and fries combo, along with their signature snow onion wings which we asked for spicy. They told us it would be 20 minutes but it didn't take nearly that long. The nuggies came first, which we cut into small bites for our kiddo. They were shaped like McNuggets, but with tons more seasoning on it to the point they didn't really need any sauce. The fries were run of the mill but it's hard to have fried chicken without some kind of potato.I wasn't really sure what to expect really with the snow chicken, but eventually we got a plate of chicken wings covered in white sauce and a mountain of sliced onions on it. It also came with a little container of green hot sauce on the side - it looks like salsa verde, but with more of a pickled note and much more spicy. So the snow onion chicken - the white sauce is a creamy mayo based sauce, and my wife described the onions with sauce as almost coleslaw-like. They were lightly pickled too, so even though they looked raw they were more sweet and sour than anything. It felt odd eating gobs of onion with wings, but somehow it works. The wings themselves were excellent, and wings are my favorite food in the world. They were super tender and juicy, perfectly cooked and seasoned well just like the fries - sauce isn't really a necessity with them since it's just really good fried chicken. Still, I want to come back soon and try the other varieties they have. How many places do you know would be bold enough to serve "cheese monster" wings?Service was attentive, though there are still a few kinks to work out which is passable since they're a new place. I feel like the Korean invasion is in full force - first with K-pop, now with Korean chicken and corn dog spots popping up around the city, but I can hardly complain. So far though CM reigns supreme as far as wings go."

Dennis T. "Before I say/write anything else, let me preface this review by saying that the food here is decidedly and unabashedly "fusion." If you have a problem with that, probably shouldn't be too surprised when you come here and are shocked by what you're eating.Anyways, saw that this place opened up today and thought I'd give it a try. The space itself is pretty small - there are only 6 spaces to eat in, so the focus seems to be more about take-out. They're still figuring some stuff out with the process but no real red flags and service was good/prompt. Menu-wise, it's pretty much split between steaks to take home and cook, and the tacos. Canned sodas are there but the selection is currently limited to LaCroix and Coke. I ate the following, ordered by enjoyment (least to greatest):- Fully Loaded Crushed Hamburger: To me, this tasted a bit like cheesy rice with some ground beef sprinkled in. It wasn't bad, but the sauce to meat ratio seemed a bit off, and it was a tad messy to eat.- Japanese Curry Chicken: This tasted like the Japanese curry you could make from one of those boxes at the grocery store, which sounds like a bad thing but I swear isn't at all. There was a bit of mayo topped, which tasted a bit interesting when mixed with the curry. I'm still a bit undecided on how I feel about mixing those, but outside of that it was pretty decent. - Panko Pork Tonkatsu: Pretty good. The tonkatsu felt pretty crispy, and there was enough sauce to give it some extra flavor.- California Kani Salad: Yea, I wouldn't mind ordering just 3-4 of these or maybe a bowl next time. The mango and crab salad was really good, and there was a generous portion of roe mixed in between. If I had to make one quibble about it, it's that it could have done without as much soy-yuzu sauce, as it kind of drenched the rice and made that more salty than the crab salad itself. This one's a winner in my book.Overall, they're still getting ironing out the kinks, so there's nothing that's glaring that I would really say. The experience and service was good, and the space, while small, feels pretty welcoming. And the food? For 4 bucks a taco (or 3 for 10), if you view them as flour tortilla vehicles to get just the right/snack amount of something you want to eat but don't want a whole entree of, this is pretty good. Solid start, would come again for a taco or two if I'm ever around the area again."
