"The pastries here are wonderful!! I stopped in on a Sunday morning to grab a croissant and the entire cafe smelled like fresh baked pastries. The almond croissant was the perfect layers and textures and the filling was balanced and not too sweet which I liked. Will be back!"
"This is a bakery I happened across while I was in the area for something else. The store is huge cases of pastries. There are signs above the cases, but I am uncultured and could not read them as they are not in my language. It's kind of unclear in my opinion that you're supposed to get a tray and tongs and then they bag it for you so I looked like a big dummy when I did wrong. The staff were talking amongst themselves and didn't really care that I was struggling. The in person experience was difficult for me, but due to my shortcomings and knowledge. The pastries were delicious although I can't tell you what any of them are. This would be a great spot for any time you needed to grab a variety of goodies to take to meet people or to work. I am hoping to come back having educated myself better and experience this bakery fully. Thank you for delicious pastries!"

"We luckily scored a last minute reservation few hours before the reservation time. There is indoor and outdoor seating available. If you're going at daytime, I highly recommend the outdoor seating to enjoy the summer weather. The staff were super friendly and service was great. The menu is small, portions are small, and prices are on the higher end for what you get. Each dish is unique and creative - taking the traditional dishes and adding an interesting twist. For two people, we ordered the chili crab noodles, chicken skewers, and crispy short ribs. Everything was absolutely delicious. * Surprisingly, the grilled chicken skewers were my favorite. They were very well cooked and tender, combined with the cashew butter, savory mushroom oil, and crispy sunchokes. It was a burst of flavors and textures in each bite! Easily 5 out of 5* The short ribs were crispy on the outside yet tender on the inside, and so well marinated. The japchae served with the short ribs also had bits of pineapple, which added an unexpected sweetness to the dish. This dish was a bigger amount of food compared to the other two we ordered. * The chili crab noodles were great, but my least favorite. It was more of a crab dish as there was a very small amount of noodles in the dish. There were strawberries with the chili sauce, which was an interesting combination. It was a light and refreshing dish. I highly recommend checking out Girl & the Goat! The food is sooooo good, but be prepared for the small portions."
"I eat here regularly and they still make great Mr. Submarine sandwiches and great and fast service. The restaurant is well kept and the staff is friendly !!"
"Loved the vibe and food here! I came on a Saturday morning and it was quite busy but we were able to share a table with another group of friends. I got the chai and carrot halwa tart to snack on. The chai was great and perfectly spiced and the carrot tart was awesome. With a super fresh carrot filling and topped with light cream, it was perfect for a hot summer day and not too heavy to eat before lunch. I wish I had the stomach room to try the savory croissants as well but I'll definitely be back for those!"
"Cute little bakery! Glad I came by after my bad customer experience at the plant store down the street. Got myself a big croissant and chai tea latte. Friendly staff. They also have some imported (?) sweets in the back."
"Pan dulce! Sweet bread! I grew up going to bakeries on Sunday mornings and coming home and having some for breakfast. Good times. This bakery is pretty good and is open 'til 9pm most nights. My favorite pan is the concha, and this bakery has at least 5 different kinds (love it!). They also offer full cakes and flans for special occasions. If you really want fresh bread, pick it from the carts they roll out to the middle of the bakery (since it's rolled out right after they come out of the oven). Give your sweet tooth it's fix and come to La Central Bakery."
"I love Bang Bang. It is consistently good even with an evolving menu. Their biscuit sandwiches are my favorite in Chicago, and I'm craving one now. The outdoor seating area is nice for larger groups with enough space for kids to trot around. The service is pretty quick - they keep it moving and for that I am grateful."
"I have been here several times and usually I order one of their pasta dishes which are usually good. This time around I decided to try one of their sandwiches. I ordered their Ferrara Special which is basically an Italian Sandwich. It was ok sandwich. Not a lot of meat...lots of lettuce on the sandwich. It kind of overwhelmed the flavor from Italian slices of meat. I also tried their Chicken Pastina soup. It was good, it had flavor and filling."
"Laury's Bakery is a small bakery in oak park. When I'm in the area there is always a long line outside the door. I decided to go in when it was less busy. When I entered there was a situation going on with a unhappy customer. Customer was acting a fool but staff handle the situation respectfully and professionally.Laury's bakery is affordable and have a lot of cupcake options. I decided to try the caramel cup cake and the strawberry cheese cake.Caramel cupcake: I love the caramel on top (Delicious). The cupcake was very moist and flavorful. It has a lemon flavor and didn't like it so much (I'm not a lemon person) but it was a decent cupcake.Strawberry Cheesecake: My favorite. Strawberry on top was fresh. The filling on top was not to sweet. There was not any crust on the bottom but there was a crust on top of the cheesecake covered with the filling. I really enjoyed it.I will be going back to try out their carrot cake and pound cake!"
"Excellent Mexican bakery! Always fresh pastries and plenty to choose from. My favorites and the flan, blueberry muffins, and macaroons. Clean as it gets! The women who operate his business deserve 6 stars for customer service and baking skills. Super reasonable. It's nice to see a bakery like this survive in an ever changing neighborhood. The hood would far less without it. If you have not been you are missing out. Stop in and get your sweet tooth on!"

Jaw dropping delicious chia tea latte. Best chai tea latte I'be had in awhile. This cafe is adorable, cozy and clean. Dine in or stop in and order your food to go. This would be great place to celebrate an occasion their desserts looked divine. We ordered our drinks and croissants to go service was great and fast! Highly recommend trying if you're in the area. Cheers!

No frills Mexican bakery in Wicker Park! Definitely not like all the newer shops you see popping up in the area. I stopped by on a Saturday morning because it was right next door to my workout class. It is a family owned business and the decor is nothing fancy inside. You pick up a tray and tongs, and get what you want from each area. They have a variety of fresh breads, cookies, and cakes too. This was my first time in a Mexican bakery so I wasn't familiar with a lot of the offerings. It would have been nice if they had labels for each item so I knew what I was picking. I ended up picking a handful of random pastries for less than $7. Most other places at Wicker, for $7, you can can probably get 1 or maybe 2 pastries at most, so this is a great deal. My favorite was the Conchas. You can tell everything is super fresh, so if you are a fan of Mexican pastries - definitely come here! I would love to come back to try the cookies next time.

This was my first time here and it did not disappoint! Food was absolutely delicious. I came here with another foodie friend and we wanted to try everything, but settled for green beans, pork shank, halibut and branzino. Beans were soooo full of flavor. They were a bit on a salty side which I loved, because usually dishes don't have enough salt. Halibut was delicious as well. Branzino was my absolute favorite. It was cooked to perfection and the slaw that came with us was the star of the dish. I wish I could buy that slaw by the pound. It was perfect now of spicy and acidic. Pork shank came out last, by that time we were stuffed. We still tried a bite and it was so tender with a touch of sweetness. I would definitely be back next time I'm in town!

Bright space with plenty of comfortable seating a great menu and friendly service. We had no problems finding a table and everything we ordered was ready quickly and looked and tasted delicious. Pro tip though not related to the cafe itself, we were in the cafe exactly 15 minutes and parked right out front...and when we came out our car had been towed. The street cleaning sign is all the way at the end of the street so we didn't see it and the tow trucks swooped in and cleared the street in seconds, so...you know, don't be like us

Had the pizza, baked pan style (some people call it grandma style maybe?) and it was A++. Thought it might be expensive but cut in fourths, more than filled me up.Small samples on the counter were delish too. Almost got me to buy the lemon meringue! Sat on the outdoor patio in the front, which was a nice touch having a breeze during my lunch break.

"I don't drink coffee--so why do I love this coffee shop? First, they take tea seriously ( mostly hot, but they is usually have at least one variety of iced tea on hand). They also have nice baked goods, and sandwiches at lunch. Their breakfast sandwiches are also mouth watering. But in the end it's all about the staff. Super friendly, to literally everyone. Their slogan ("We filter coffee not people") Turkey reflects who they are!"
"We were visiting U Chicago and stopped by Medici for lunch. There was a short wait to be seated. The restaurant looks like an old tavern, and they have interesting wall decor that is eclectic. The appetizers were really good! We scarfed down some onion rings and chili cheese fries. The loaded fries were stand-out amazing! The main lunch orders were a little underwhelming. I really liked my personal pie of veggie pizza, but my hubs thought his roast beef sandwich was "just okay." Our friend got a fried chick sandwich that looked good! I enjoyed the food! The service was fine. Everyone was pleasant. I would come back again. Of note, I got a latte next door at the cafe side of medici while we were waiting to be seated. And the latte was not good. I could barely drink it."
"Great location for a cupcake shop. The selection is fantastic. I just had a chocolate raspberry cupcake and it was very good. The lady behind the counter was helpful and make some good recommendations. There is a small dinning area where customer can enjoy coffee and their sweet deserts."
"We looove Molly's cupcakes. It's a must-have every time we come back to visit to Chicago. You can't go wrong with stuffed cupcakes. Seriously. My son ordered the Samoa one, and I got a Nutella stuffed one. Both of them were so yummy!! Easier to knife and fork it, but you can manage with your hands too. We so miss being near to Molly's."
"This is one of my favorite hangouts to eat and chill at, and if you go there long enought, whether it's in the morning, afternoon or evening, you'll see the same group of people. Because it's that good."
"Tucked between the many shops of China Town is an amazing Patisserie Coffee Shop. Tous Les Jours offers the most exquisite desserts and custom cakes including Sweet Potato Cake, Blueberry Cloud, and Green Tea Matcha Cake. The interior and exterior is super clean and the service is friendly and fast. I was so happy with my experience and will most definitely go back!"
"I've passed by this place a few times and just had something random and large from the Brown elephant down the street (today it was an air popcorn popper) but wow I had no idea about the supermarket. I grew up in a neighborhood with a large Mediterranean and Middle Eastern, so when I walked back I found the spices intoxicating. Then they have some cheeses I love that I used to use daily but haven't seen honestly in a decade. Pretty cool. We headed to the front to place our order, a veggie combo and a Beef/lamb shawarma. They have a open kitchen and counter service. We took a table near the counter. It's great to see the plated dishes come out fresh and smell the aromatics in the air. Our food came out in a decent ten minutes. The meat was slice to a perfect thickness and cooked to give a nice gradation of doneness with nice caramelization. The hummus was tasty and fresh with herbs, I honestly didn't take note of the ingredients but dug in. Had a nice tanginess. Everything was delicious well portioned and reasonable priced. Service was great. Explained all the veggie options pulled out examples. I mean I definitely going back especially to the shop in the back. I mean they're really stocked well. Lots of goods made on site too."
"They are open during quarantine! They haven't a bunch of yellow lines so people are standing 6 ft apart for social distancing! Only 7 people are allowed inside at once. They care about their customers and their cakes. The workers were so nice and helpful. The place smelled of super good baked goods. We got the lemon fluff cake for my bf's birthday coming up. I grabbed a brownie with nuts on it and 3 kolackys (cheese, cherry, blueberry)The brownie was superrr good! The cheese kolacky wasn't my favorite but still good. The lemon fluff was tasty too. They are open 7 days a week."
"Be prepared to stand in line on the weekends but boy is this place quality. I think the savory brioche and galettes are the real standouts. Great flavor profiles and textures, inspiring combinations."
"My family patronizes the locations in Whiting Indiana and Lansing IL but they long forgot this original location is still open and going strong. There are very few places we can return too and find them to be exactly as we once remembered them many years ago. Calumet Bakery is one such authentic place!I purchased a large raspberry coffee cake, a brownie, a blueberry Danish and a chocolate doughnut all for the remarkable price of $7.75. Excellent quality, rich chocolate and fresh as can be.Since 106th west of Torrence is One Way going east, just drive around the block to get to the bakery. Park right in front! Smell the goodness inside!Highly recommended! Please keep the place going strong and patronize this wonderful bakery!"
"This was my first time in a Mexican panaderia and I was amazed!!!They had SO many options! The place smelled amazing. As soon as you enter, a lady gives you a tray and tong. It is a self-service style bakery. After you grab all you wanna buy, you take you tray to the cashier and she packs everything.I went to this place especially to get a Tres Leches to celebrate my birthday/mother's day. Im a BIG fan of Tres Leches so I get to try it in every place that I go where it is sold. Let me tell you that this place's Tres Leches is THE BOMB!!!! It is seriously amazing! The cake is HUGE and it cost me ~U$23!I also got to try their conchas. I never had this before and Id call it a sweet bread. It is nice to have it with coffee.Coming back for sure!"
"This the second time I at BJ market it is not the same everytime. The bbq is very tasty. The food is good. Glad they survived the pandemic."
"There's a Goddess and Grocer near my workplace but I've never been, so I wanted to stop in and see what they're about when I was in the West Loop. They have a lot of specialty food items--crackers, wines, sodas, craft alcohol, you name it. You can get some nice crackers, nuts, and spreads for your charcuterie board here (I saw some quince paste and I bet they had some fig jam here). There were even some packages of salami and other meats. However, their cheese selection was either small or nonexistent, so I'd probably get the meat and cheese elsewhere (though cheese shops are shockingly few in Chicago now). They have a pastry case that has some delicious cakes, cupcakes, and so on. I got a cinnamon apple bundt cake to share and it was really fantastic. They had cake slices in another case, and some decorated cookies on display as well. I think they must sell lunch foods here because there were several tables inside the shop as well and tables set up outside at which customers could dine. It's a good shop for specialty items if you need them and are around. You'll pay a premium, but it's small and you can get in and out within 5 minutes so that definitely has value."
"Was craving something delicious today and was reading great reviews about this market and cafe. I was welcomed by big smiles, great conversations and an amazing menu for carryout meals. The gentleman behind the counter was so helpful and really had a passion for his food there...he described as the "Best Street Food Style Meals"I ordered Lamb SoupWedding SoupKofta Sandwiches Beef Shish Sandwiches Bulgar KoftaMeat filled Pide....WOWOWOWOWMany delicious recommended dessertsAll were amazing choices...I will definitely make the 30 mile drive to come try more. I highly recommend this place"
"There is literally nothing you want that you cannot get here! And the service is always fast and the ladies are so kind! Everything is fresh and perfect!!!"
"Local bakery and coffee shop in Buena Park, can get expensive especially if you get a drink and sandwich but the sandwiches are definitely large, delicious and filling. Bagels are always fresh and filled with a lot of cream cheese. When the weather is great seating can be limited, with additional seating available outside during the summer."
"I found a small Mediteranean restaurant on Main Street just west of Skokie Blvd in Skokie. It's a small Ma & Pa restaurant that I would have never known it existed if it wasn't for Yelp. I was in my way to Old Orchard and I had me a hankerin fer Sum Mediteranean foodLunch Special for $7.95 that came w/Beef Kifta Sausage, Chicken Shawarma, Falafel & Salad w/tomato's, cucumber & iceberg lettuce, rice & pita bread. I had very mixed feelings about this food. The rice was super bland, the salad while very fresh was plain iceberg lettuce, tomatoes & cucumber, no dressing. The falafel was a tad bland but was tastier once Nicole the waitress brought an orange sauce that had a little tang & a little sweetness. The beef kifta and chicken shawarma were tasty. Lentil Soup - $2.99 that was delicious. They have a fried fish that I would like to go back a try if I'm in the neighborhood again."
