"Wow!! We were traveling through Chicago and staying by airport and kosher dinner. They delivered the food quickly and we're super friendly. They are also super accommodating with allergies...just call and ask they will take care of it all. Highly recommend them when you need a tasty kosher meal. The servings are also generous. If your looking for recommendations get the appetizer sampler and meat trio!"
"I was absolutely mesmerized by the taste of the lentil soup. I couldn't believe how good this soup is, and it's a summer day today. Almost 100 degrees in Chicago, I'm in thinking of getting more soup. I can't wait to try more of this menu. The service was awesome too!! The kindness of the staff will not be forgotten. Thank you for making this a great experience, even though it was take out."

"Had a really lovely experience from ordering to eating and even getting extra takeout after the meal. Everyone at the counter was super helpful navigating the impressive menu. Meals were deftly delivered to the table and everything was incredible. Really cannot say enough about how much flavor was imparted into every item."
"My favorite Mediterranean place for lentil soup! There's no other lentil soup seasoned the way it's done here! I love it so much! All of the food is fresh and delicious and the owner is so friendly and kind. I'm happy to support this small business and encourage everyone to do the same!"
"Checks all the boxes! Generous portions of steaming hot food. The view from Sultan Kebab is interesting. There's even a table and chairs outside should you want to eat outside. Next time I have to order the lentil soup!"
"Interesting a delicious shawarma! I didn't really understand the concept until I looked around but you order what you want in a kiosk and your food is brought out to you, or handed to you if you're taking it to go. I ordered the Shawarma Saj, and tbh I should've ordered it in a stuffed pita because it comes with more pickles and such. To make up for it, I ordered a side of pickles where I can fully my own container and it was delicious! The sandwich was filling and full of flavor. The fries are also well seasoned and delicious. Friendly staff and clean. Really enjoyed coming here and will do so!"
"Delicious!! I stopped in to pick up dinner and got the lamb shawarma platter and 2 baklavas. My total was $20, but this was a TON of food! I think my favorite part was the curry rice. It was definitely a pretty classic shawarma meal! The baklava was amazing and I recommend getting it too!! For a 'cheap food' place the prices still seemed very normal to me and not necessarily cheaper than other restaurants, but I think the good deal is the sandwiches. I definitely want to go back and try the $6 felafel pita!"
"I've passed by this place a few times and just had something random and large from the Brown elephant down the street (today it was an air popcorn popper) but wow I had no idea about the supermarket. I grew up in a neighborhood with a large Mediterranean and Middle Eastern, so when I walked back I found the spices intoxicating. Then they have some cheeses I love that I used to use daily but haven't seen honestly in a decade. Pretty cool. We headed to the front to place our order, a veggie combo and a Beef/lamb shawarma. They have a open kitchen and counter service. We took a table near the counter. It's great to see the plated dishes come out fresh and smell the aromatics in the air. Our food came out in a decent ten minutes. The meat was slice to a perfect thickness and cooked to give a nice gradation of doneness with nice caramelization. The hummus was tasty and fresh with herbs, I honestly didn't take note of the ingredients but dug in. Had a nice tanginess. Everything was delicious well portioned and reasonable priced. Service was great. Explained all the veggie options pulled out examples. I mean I definitely going back especially to the shop in the back. I mean they're really stocked well. Lots of goods made on site too."
"About a year ago a review pops in feed for Milo's claiming their shawarma sandwich is the best around! I was skeptical. Just the boon I needed to discover a new shawarma joint. There are many shawarma joints but not everyone has a great or decent sandwich. Usually just passable. But here, the chef is owning this menu. Since my many visits I've tried their shawarma and Kefta kebab sandwich which is soooooooooooooo friggin' good. Kefta is my favorite, beef shawarma is a close second. Kefta will differ from shawarma in how the meat is prepared. Shawarma is meat on a "spit" grill and is cut into slivers or slices like the meat contained in a gyros. Kefta is ground and mixed with some seasonings and formed into a kabab shape or patty. In the past I had tried their chicken shawarma as well which was forgettable. Most sandwiches are served on pita and few on Saj. If you've seen my reviews of Mediterranean restaurants, saj is a favorite. So, I always try to get my sandwiches on Saj bread if they would allow it. It's got more of a chew feel than a regular pita. Have also tried their burek which is not a spiral but comes in three single pieces of mozzarella wrapped in a longer piece of spring roll wrapper and fried. Something different than typical burek. Almost like a "real thing" version of a fresh mozzarella stick. Different tho good with a tasty side sauce. If stopping in to try, get a lunch special which is paired with a drink and fries. When served you'll notice that "fresh" quality in taste. Milo's sits on a corner with provided parking. They also own a next door business which offers ice cream and snacks during the warmer seasons. The restaurant is run like a carry out. If they got slammed with a rush of seated customers I wonder how they would meet demand. The dining room is better than most of their competitors nearby. Comfortable with good heating during the winter and breezy during warmer months. The pandemic has been rough for many of the restaurants in this locale. So it's my hope that people continue to frequent them and keep it going."
"Bam bam! I ate here and it was so good it made me say damn damn! Zam Zam is definitely one of the best places for Middle Eastern and Mediterranean. Good stuff and big ass portions make up for the cost. There's a lot for vegans and vegetarians to check out. After running around all morning I needed some grub. I happened to be nearby. The cool name of the place caught my eye, so I gave it a try. Glad I did. They have several ordering options, including bowls, plates, and salads. I got the Veggie Plate. It's about $14, the only bad thing I can say. The price was high but there was a ton of food on this. For this plate, it comes with dolmanthes and falafel. There's baba ghannouch and hummus too. Also you get choices of sauces and sides. I got cucumber salad and tabbouli. Also you get pita bread. That's a lot. Boy, after all that food I needed to run around again. I could eat here every day and become a fatass. The prices luckily will keep that from happening thankfully."

Great authentic kosher food. The service is quick and everyone was very friendly. Lots of menu items. We did the salad and app combo, falafel, and shawarma. Everything was great. The place is quiet, and although it was busy there were still open tables

Okay seriously guys I can't get enough of this place. I ordered carry out minutes after they opened, when I went to pick it up it was taking a little longer than quoted (due to the obvious fact they just opened need to prep &still was not long whatsoever) got to watch them prepare everything 100% fresh, BUT HE GAVE ME A CUP OF FRESH LENTIL SOUP THEY JUST MADE while I wait!!!! Customer service is out of this world and I wish there was a sixth star. Sweetest staff ever & best food I mean it. DO NOT HESITATE!!! Soup was amazing BTW!

This is new favorite spot! My husband and I happened to stop by for lunch as we were driving around looking for something to eat. We got the chicken and steak shawarma in pita lunch special that included drink and fries. Yoooo let me tell you- that chicken sandwich was so incredibly delicious that we are here again just a week later! It was garlicky, slightly spicy, creamy from the sauce, warm and delicious!! The fries were also very good. There is easy, free parking right out front, and the restaurant itself is very nice; casual, with plenty of booth seats. Furthermore, they are super friendly! We were greeted and brought little samples of the lentil soup, which was delicious! It was cold outside so being greeted with a nice little cup of warm soup was very appreciated. We now look for things to do on this side of town just so we can come to this place to try more things on the me

Revisited the new format after getting takeout recently. Dining room has changed and digital screen menus facilitate ordering when fast counter service is needed. Figured to go with our neighborhood restaurant that's a short drive away. Easy parking just the meter or around the corner.Got the vegetarian combo, potato chop (no borak available that day) and the lentil soup. Was trying to focus on the Eden specials which are Iraqi in origin and less common at other restaurants in the area. Came with flatbread that was toasted crisp along with fresh soft bread as well (more than enough for our whole meal). The tables and chairs maybe are from the previous format and are nicer than usual fast carryout, a plus either way however you are dining when you arrive whether it's quiet with you and just the chef table-service or maybe a busier lunch time counter service.

Excellent food. Fast and friendly service. The combo for two could easily feed 4 with a couple extra pitas. Everything cooked perfect and a ton of rice and side salad. Lentil soup is top tier and the falafel was better than most. Interior is about what you'd expect. All business but well kept and clean.

Delicious, simple, and affordable. I've been eyeballing this place for a few months and it did not disappoint. I see why they've been voted the best falafel in Chicago-- it was phenomenal! So much so that I inhaled the entire falafel sandwich in 10mins! The staff was also extremely friendly! I highly recommend if you live in / or are in the area!

The bakery and market is adorable, and had a wide assortment of foods. It's cozy but items are packed in for maximum use of space. Staff is friendly. We tried the falafel, pita, and tahini sauce. It was so, so good. If this hadn't been at the end of our food tour, I definitely would have finished my little sandwich, but instead, I have a place I will be heading back to next time!

"Since my kitchen is out of commission while being completely renovated, I have been taking advantage of takeout and delivery. Tried Shibam after looking through their menu and noticing some curry dishes. This along with a side of basmati rice were outstanding. The food came fast and was full of flavor. The curry chicken and rice reminded me of a cross between Afghan and Lebanese. From what I remembered years ago, the restaurant serves Yemen cuisine. Nevertheless, I would certainly order again. After an experience I had several years ago, I never returned for a sit-down so that I could blog the experience. Perhaps when things ease up with the pandemic, I will go for a proper sit-down. If not, there is a strong chance that I will order again for delivery."
"I spent a weekend in Chicago on a girls trip and we were looking for somewhere to close our time before our flights. Beatnik caught our eye with their beautiful exterior. We came around 11 am and were easily able to get a table for brunch. Once you step inside you're transported to a beautiful garden with tons of plants and sky light. I wish my house looked like this. Not only was the decor amazing but the food was delicious too. I had the shaksuka which had excellent flavor and a good size. Our server was incredible too, very friendly & able to provide a great wine recommendation.Do not pass this place up for a great time!"
"I tried Shish Kabob & Grill and it was pretty good.I tried the Falafel Wrap with a side of French Fries - they were pretty tasty. I wish they had pita bread sandwiches too though. Employees are friendly and they have a small dining area in the restaurant. It's a bit expensive compared to comparable restaurants in the area like Pita Pita/Pita Inn but it's still a decent spot to get some Mediterranean food from."
"Food delicious, people wonderful. Customer service awesome. Prices great, very clean. Will elaborate later! I am so hungry and it smells so wonderful. I about to bust my neck! Lol. I have been waiting to come while it was open for the longest!!! Mmmm. There's soon much to choose from. Yaaaas!"
"Certainly I wanted to try the meat combo, as everyone has been raving about, but let's go for a different view and taste. The beef kabob plate it is. With probably one of the freshest beef kabobs I've had in a while and the dill rice, ummmm yes ma'am! The beef Kabob was not the typical kabob as kabobs go. It wasn't in a skewer or in a cylinder shaped morsel. Instead it was presented on top of the rice in a very typical fashion, but it didn't bother me due the taste. I absolutely thought it was extremely tasty and so tender. I poured a little bit of the sauce that accompanied it and BAMM! I will definitely now be addicted, can you say uhhh ohhh! I think that the place is beautiful (as it use to be Grand Daddy's sub sandwiches) but now, they have transformed the interior into a Mediterranean spot. I certainly can appreciate the fact that an establishment could seriously begin an adventure like this in what was once Little Italy. I love the fact that they have given us variety, as well as a taste that usually is brought in to select neighborhoods. I see a good future for the Baba Pita, and I truly hope that more will come out and see what I have seen and tasted. I don't think you will be disappointed but if you feel overwhelmed at the variety, by all means ask for a suggestion as I did. The young lady asked what I was in the mood for and of course I said beef, and we settled on the actual beef kabob dinner which was perfect, but one problem, too much food so leftovers it was. I give them a good rating and I am sure you will also."
"Came here with our friends from Afghanistan. It was so nice to see them comfortable and speaking to the owners and servers in their language! We appreciated that right off the bat. We also came during Ramadan and they were respectful of people who prayed and breaking fast. Food was good. The lab kabob was my husband's favorite, I loved the chicken and we all LOVED the Afghan Palaw. Also, my chai was so great. We were also celebrating birthdays and they let us bring in a cake and brought extra plate, etc. for us. Great food for a good price. Highly recommend."
"The food is quite delicious. On my visits the food came out quickly and was cooked perfectly. The service isn't necessarily friendly but they are efficient. The drink selection is neat. They have all of the standards plus a few unique options. The spicy hummus is a must! I wish it came with more pita. You can add on for a dollar. The wraps and lunch specials are also quite a good deal. It is busy but the line moves quickly. The spicy option on the lunch special adds a dollar. There are a lot of vegetarian options. The garlic sauce was pretty good but a little too oily for my liking. I would recommend this place and plan to come back each time I'm in the area. Priced fairly and clean. Tons of parking"
"Tucked into the Edgewater neighborhood between the Granville Red Line Station and Broadway, we have an absolute powerhouse in the Falafel Kebab Station, whipping up some incredible pig-out Mediterranean dishes everybody comes to know and adore. There's nothing but options here, folks! They got rotisserie chickens, pita sandwiches, plates, salads, wraps; all served with some tasty sides (their fries are actually legit, ok?)The rotisserie chicken was fire plain and simple. You have an option to get half a chicken or whole with a side of rice or fries. I was gonna go big and also ordered an extra side of gyro meat to give it a taste, and they really knocked it out of the park with that meat as well. Really, everything is cooked to excellent quality at the Falafel Kebob Station. You can order your food online and it'll be ready in about 20 mins, easy pickup time and setup. They do have a nice space to dine in if you are looking to have a meal at the place instead. Northsiders, do not sleep on this place! Great gem of a restaurant with easy transit access for all!"
"We went here with some neighbors to try a new place. It has recently opened, so I believe they still have some kinks to work out. I keep debating between 3 and 4 stars and settled on 4 stars to give them the benefit. We walked in early (5:30) and the place was empty. When we left it was full and buzzing. That's a good thing because I'd like to see the place succeed.I like my cosmopolitan. I wouldn't rave about the cocktails, but they are certainly sufficient. We had a lovely waitress who explained the food and what we should try. We followed her lead and had two of the dumpling type appetizers. They were very tasty and the sauce was very good.My hubby ordered the rice with lamb as his entree. I ordered a noodle dish. Next time I would order his meal or a similar one. The noodle dish has complex spices and was good. I just felt it was more "pasta-ish" than I anticipated. Definitely that is on me... I should have ordered something with more protein. The complementary bread was a nice touch.Throughout the meal the service became a little lacking. As the place got crowded, it was hard to get the attention of anyone. I don't blame our waitress. She was quite busy. I think the owners/management need to focus on solving the issue and visit the tables to see what they need when the wait staff is overwhelmed. We didn't have dessert. We were ready to go by that point."
"I visited Shawarma Garden and I was totally impressed. I was visiting from New Jersey, which has its own excellent shawarma, and I came in with no expectations. I ordered the Gyro sandwich, the Fattoush salad, and a falafel platter to share. Everything was amazing! The dressing on my salad was particularly fantastic. The staff was friendly and even delivered our food to our table and they remembered exactly what each of us ordered. Definitely check this place out if you're in the area!"
"I recently visited Revival Food Hall downtown on Clark Street and from all the vendors I picked LaShuk for my lunch option and ordered the steak hummus bowl with homemade fresh and smooth chickpea blend. It was topped with warm chickpeas, tahini, and baba, zhug (hot sauce) and served with pita. The ordering process was seamless and I was able to customize my bowl and add a drink to my order. Everything was very tasty and fresh. The hummus was very smooth and pita was warm and fluffy. I left very happy and satisfied with my hummus bowl."
"Oh, My. Stars. This is it. This has been added to our list of Go To restaurants when we have a craving for kabobs. We went with the two skewers of Koubideh (ground sirloin) MEAL and then added a skewer ofJoujeh Koubideh (ground chicken). We also picked up the vegetarian eggplant dish. So much yummy food including plenty of rice. The only thing we'd probably add is some additional cooked tomatoes. Wait was a little long because it being our first time, we didn't call in our order and it was made to order so after coming off of a 4 hour plane ride, I was antsy. The sirloin and eggplant were delicous that night. Leftover meat has heated up in the airfryer really well at about 325 for 3-4 minutes. The parking lot adjacent to the restaurant AND street parking were packed. But about half a block away is a smaller lot affiliated with their name on it. We will definitely be back and may try eating at the restaurant although both the counter side and the fancy sit down full service side were both packed."
"Among the best Mediterranean food around is located on 57th in Hyde Park in this awesome establishment. It always has had great service and food. Nile is a longtime favorite among locals and students. Maybe prices are kind of high on some things, but for around here they aren't bad. There's lots of healthy food for meat eaters and vegetarians alike and most people here should be happy. Got here recently and had lunch. It wasn't too busy in spite of it being in the middle of the week and UC students all around the place. The service was pretty fast too. I wanted to get a lot more but of course, budget. We had the Hummus. It's $5 for the appetizer. This is creamy and garnished with paprika. Good stuff and even though the portion wasn't large we got satisfied anyway. I had the Falafel Sandwich. This is $7.50 and is a pretty good size. Has many good things to choose from. It has quite a few meaty entrees but there's plenty that are not. This has some great things for vegans and vegetarians."
"Middle of the road for us.Ordered a gyro meat plate, chicken shawarma, and falafels. Falafels were a bit too hard that we added them to a lentil soup.Pita bread was avg, not the fluffy pillows of other spots.Garlic sauce was a pass."
"First time trying Shawarma Inn. Decided to order take out over the phone. The lady who took my order was polite and answered my questions regarding my order. Upon arriving, tye restaurant itself doesn't look much from the outside and the interior is quite simple. It does have ample seating. It wasn't busy around 830pm when I came in to pick up my order. My order was wrapped up for me when I got there.I ordered the Kefta Kebab platter/meal. It came with 2 large kefta kebabs, alot of yellow Mediterranean rice, a small salad/veggies, and squash. Also, it came with an order of pita bread and choice of soup, picked Lentil soup.Kefta Kebab was good, but it wasn't amazing. Rice tasted fresh. Soup was warm and tasty. Didn't like the squash. The meal was filling, and definitely good for 2 meals. For the price, it is alot of food and tastes good. You get your money worth for the quantity. Not sure if I would want to order the platter again. Definitely will try their wraps next time."
"Kabob Platter - chicken, shish, koobideh, veggies, rice, falafel, Persian saladSee attached photo. This platter is supposed to be for four people. And we added a few kabobs to it too. We had mixed opinions about the quality but I think it's decent-good. My main gripe is the quantity of food for $63 and more like 2 people, not 4. In the photo, you can see two slices of bread, one tomato, half an onion. Needs more rice, salad, and meat... More of everything overall.Service felt rushed, he cleaned up our plates pretty quickly (restaurant is mostly empty). He combined the extra kabobs with the platter which we didn't ask for. He was nice though."
"I chose Avaspi because is located right across from the play that we were attending. I called for reservations since we were driving from the west burbs and explained we had limited time for a meal because of the play (and my friends taking their sweet time lol). Great choice! I scored. A burst of flavors in a great atmosphere, unique decor, and black walls with red accents looked great. Service was also great, they attended to us quickly knowing our time limitations. The food was fantastic. The perfect fusion of East and West in this Anatolian tapas concept with rich flavors. We tried multiple things: - tomato and goat cheese dish that was fantastic- Meat sampler for 2: tender lamb chops, chicken and beef- Hummus and Babaganoush - Grilled Halloumi Meze (I love Halloumi so I was happy to see it on the menu)I had an Old Fashioned, it was okay, but it would benefit from being served with one big ice cube instead of traditional little pieces. They have a respectable wine and cocktail selection as well as several beers. We all enjoyed the flood and our time at Avaspi. Sadly we did not have time for a sweet treat as we had to dash to the theater. I will definitely return!"
"Due to covid - 19 I have been ordering from DoorDash, UberEats, and Grubhub or go to restaurants with outdoor seating.Al Basha is one of the few restaurants that has outdoor seatingFirst time at Al Basha. The restaurant kind of looks like a whole in the wall, but's it's not, it is very family friendly. staff is awesome take they care of you. I ordered stuffed chicken dinner and fresh lemonade Before the dinner came out the staff brought bread, humus, salad and cucumber salad. It was really goodThe stuffed chicken was a little dry, it still tasted good. The lemonade was awesome. It's the best I have had. I'm definitely going back to try other stuff."
"I have been craving some falafels and I searched online and saw this place and wanted to try them out and I'm glad I did. It was pretty yummy! We ordered the falafels, chicken shawarma with fries, hummus with pita and lamb Shawarma. Everything was very good. They don't have dine in so they only have drive thru. You will have to order it and wait about 10 minutes at the drive. It's not a long wait knowing that they cook it fresh right there. We brought it home and it was still delicious. We will definitely come back again!"
"Low key location in a stip mall with delicious food and great service. My wife and I would br happy to come back."
"I'm ashamed to say how many times I've passed or been near here and we never gave it a try. Until recently when I really wanted some chicken shawarma. Food was so good & the service was so friendly. We rolled out the door, stuffed to the gills and took home leftovers. We will be back!"
"My Reviews/Ratings are fair and non-bias.STAFF- Fair & Friendly, they take care of the regulars. I don't live around this area, but I make a great along with my family for these pies. PRICES- Compared to all the bakery's around this community, they seem to have fair prices, for it's quantity & quality. This bakery has been around for a while, they built a great relationship with their community & the prices haven't scared anyone away. This is a successful establishment. FOOD- Because of the long distant commute I make, I always get 4-5 pies of each; meat, cheese, spinach, chicken, zatar, etc... You have to get there early to catch the fresh batch! Overall, they do not disappoint and continue to maintain their quality in baking these delicious pies."
"The place: honestly, just lovely. Service was ON POINT. I don't think my water glass was ever empty, they were informative and helpful when answering our questions about our wine selection. It's small - maybe seats 30? But seems like a great place for an intimate dinner or small dinner with great friends. The taste: so I very much enjoyed the menu, but if you're not into beets or pomegranate, this might not be the place for you. I think portions were sized well. I personally loved the pomegranate arils (seeds) hidden in several dishes - the lentil soup amuse Bouche and the lamb meatball. My face: a big, contented smile. $85pp for the tasting menu is V reasonable in this day and age. I think we got 3 drinks total (2 glasses of wine and a cocktail). Total was $287 for two people. Enjoy!"
