"**Great Service****Fantastic Coffee**** Homemade Meals****Fun Decor**Possibly one of the best Fredo Cappuccinos I've ever had. Stopped in after a day at Lincoln Park Zoo. Spanakopita, Bougatsa, everything was great and tasted very homemade.I leave you with just this. This place is legit Greek. Go there and enjoy. We will be back!"
"Quick and tasty Greek food in a family atmosphere. The owners were friendly and the service was awesome. We enjoyed it so much, we went twice!"

Visit Restaurant Page"Another great restaurant in the Wicker Park area. I loved the authentic Greek food and how the dishes are small enough to try several different ones. I generally find Greek food to be quite bland but I was pleasantly surprised by the flavors of the dishes we got. We got the beets, lamb and rice stuffed cabbage, sesame pastry, and the wild boar. The beets were a bit underwhelming, as they weren't anything special. But everything else was very unique and extremely tasty. My favorites were the lamb and rice stuffed cabbage and the wild boar. The wild boar was soft and tender and paired wonderfully with what I can only imagine was handmade pasta. Would definitely come again and try more dishes!"
"We had dinner here with another couple last Saturday night who had recently had a great experience eating here. Greek food can be hit or miss for me, but when it's a hit I'm a really big fan so was excited to try it.The restaurant itself was quite busy for a Sat evening and we were seated upstairs. The tables are pretty close together and I had to keep moving my chair so that the waitress could get to the table next to us.To start we ordered some drinks (tequila, soda, lime my drink of choice) and a few apps:- Dips with crudite- octopus appetizerThe dips came sans crudite at first, but i couldn't resist so had a few pieces of pita. My favorite was probably the smoke feta dip, but can never go wrong with Tzatziki. As for the octopus I enjoyed my bite so much that I decided to order as my main entree...with a side of broccoli. My husband got the octopus entree for his, which was stuffed with greek cheese and other goodness. It turned out to be a delicious meal and one of the better greek restaurants I've tried on the North Shore."
"Wow! The food at Nostimo is absolutely delicious! Hubs and I wanted something different for lunch and quick at the same time. We wanted sit down, but nothing too heavy. Walking in we are welcomed with Greek music, staff that is smiling, and a relaxed atmosphere. You place your order at the far end of the restaurant which is so smart. There's plenty of room to stand while you wait to order and for the people waiting for their orders to be ready for take out, they don't have to weave thru a line of people waiting to order when they have their food (did that make sense?). The menu is on a well light screen and a nice large font (perfect for an oldie like me who needs cheaters while wearing my contacts)! The menu isn't lengthy, but there is just about something for everyone. The woman taking our order was so friendly and welcoming! We had saganaki fritters which is the flaming cheese without the flame, but in nice sized round balls. It was so ooey gooey and tasted just like saganaki! Hubs had the Grecian Beef Souvlaki and I ordered the side of Chicken Kalamakia. The beef souvlaki is filet mignon on skewers! Sooooo tender and flavorful! My chicken was cooked perfect and juicy! Let me pause here and tell you about the pita that came with our proteins - WOW! This is not your typical pita! It's soft, fluffy, with a nice tender chew and had so much flavor on its own! I could sit and eat several of them on their own with their tangy, fresh tzatziki sauce! Last we finished the meal with an order of loukoumades. It comes with a choice of thyme honey (which I'm used to eating loukoumades with) or Nutella... tough choice right?! The lovely woman taking our order helped me out by throwing in a side of Nutella so I can try it both ways! These little warm, melty balls of dough are SOOOOO delicious! They were the perfect end to our lunch! OH ... and Nutella -wowza! Definitely a win for anyone loving chocolate and hazelnut (like me)! The woman taking our order came by our table and asked if we wanted the loukoumades with our food or a bit after our food was ready. That's incredible service (!!!) and we opted for a bit after. She said she'd let the kitchen know to hold the dessert for a bit. Everything we had was cooked perfectly and tasted like I was visiting a Greek neighbor's house for their home cooked food! Completely forgot to take pics of the food before devouring it all. The ambiance was relaxed and welcoming. The service was so friendly! This will be in our rotation for sure and I can't wait to try more items from the menu for dinner!"
"Grateful to be here on the Orthodox Easter with 2 of my close friends to celebrate my 2nd chance in life after the stroke ordeal! We started off with calamari and saganaki. Both was fried to perfection and delicious! For the main dish, I choose chicken kabob. It came with 2 skewers of white meat, tomato, onions, tzatziki sauce and 1 pita bread. The chicken was juicy and well seasoned. There were enough tomato and onions to me to make small sandwiches using the pita. My friend opted for the roasted lamb from their Easter Special menu. She said it was very good. Her husband's chicken and pork skewers entree was equally good! They have a large parking lot with ample spaces for their customers. Large group for parties can be accommodated. The entire staff was pleasant and helpful.I've already made plans to take my family to the establishment soon!"
"One of the better Greek street food places downtown, and it's a great place to get cheap eats while visiting Northwestern Hospital. They don't stray far from traditional gyros sandwiches, rice, and basic Greek-style desserts. The place is clean (you'd expect that, being in a hospital food court), and the employees are always nice."
"Super friendly place with Jeopardy! playing on the TV in the back - nice change from sports (says me, not sure how many would agree). The fries are notably good here, and the dog is quintessential Chicago. It's a little pricier than some joints, but it's also more comfortable. I'm pretty much never going to complain about a great Chicago dog purveyor even if there isn't much to say about the dog because there isn't much variation. And there shouldn't be. Do a Chicago dog right, you have my business."
"Was in the neighborhood for a cheeseburger hankering. All in all, it was just okay and not as good as I remember it being.I have to say their fresh cut potato fries are a staple, tasted exactly how I remembered.Good for a fry and coke snack. Burger was just okay and it was a bit overpriced.Solid 3"
"It's been nearly a year since my visit, but here goes this draft in my draftbox, begging me to finish! My friend brought me here for my 41st bday last August. It's a casual, but formal affair, if that makes sense. The space itself is pretty grand and you can tell a great amount of attention went into its detail. We sat in what appeared to be a sunroom, the entire restaurant was packed (but not in a mess hall sort of way). While the restaurant would not be one I'd opt for visiting (out of my price range and in the heart of Logan which isn't my cup of tea but perfect for my friend who's the king of showing off--love him to death), it was certainly worth the visit. This restaurant hit every nail on the head when it comes to an experience, a word that has lost its luster in today's greedy, corners-cut, post-covid climate. Our server made recommendations and got to know us, our runner delicately deboned our fish before our very eyes, a manager poked by, since we ordered wine a wine specialist ran down an extensive list of wines and their backstories. Just perfect. We also went for lamb chops, a beet salad and dessert specially adorned with a candle. You can tell the restaurant is operated by professionals dedicated to their craft and anyone with a restaurant (or business) could benefit paying them a visit to experience the experience of what an actual experience should look and feel like!"
"I will begin here. I work in the area, as I mentioned before I have gone passed this location while on my way to work. I said one day I will stop in. I took a walk to dunning square, ran a quick errand. Had some time during my lunch, so I made my stop. I was greeted as I walked in. Which was welcoming. The service was beyond amazing. The food was also top notch. I ordered the cheeseburger lunch special, one of the best burgers I have had. The location is spacious, the ambiance is comfortable and warm. I am glad I stopped in. One of my friend's would order from this location for our office gatherings. One of the staff thanked me for coming, she saw my ID, and I said I work up the street. I will return soon."
"This is a Greek food staple in Northbrook. I've been coming for years and typically enjoy the street pita - a gyro sandwich with French fries in it. My last experience was less than ideal. I ordered from Uber Eats and the kids meals were pitiful. Very little food and the falafel did not taste right and they gyros were beyond dry. They also forgot to add feta fries after charging extra for them. Giving 3 stars because my previous experiences have been better."

Lovely new spot and I wish them a lot of success. They have many authentic Greek dishes, many of which are vegetarian, which was great for us. Order at the register, and the Greek guy attending to us was very helpful. The gigantes bean dish was delicious and we also got the moussaka and truffle/mushroom flat bread and everything was very delicious. There were so many great choices making it hard to choose.

Best gyros around! No joke. Love the pita. I like mine with the meat well done. Try it, you'll love them. Enough said.

I've found my new favorite Greek Restaurant in Chicago. The decor and atmosphere at Taxim definitely reflect the cuisine and the outdoor roof patio is gorgeous. The menu is a bit intimidating at first (it was all greek to me!) but the servers were all patient and knowledgeable. The food feels very authentic and not catered towards "typical American" audiences which is very rare. I truly felt transported while dining here.

First time at Nostimo tonight! I love Greek food and I've been wanting to try it since I first saw it. Here are some of my thoughts:--It has the feel of a fast food restaurant, but it's a little more expensive, and the food is good.--I ordered the traditional pork gyro, and I was NOT disappointed : ) All the flavors work well, the pork was tasty, and there was plenty of food!--I got the combo, which includes fries (which I LOVE) and a drink for about $15. Not cheap but good.--You go up to the counter to order and they give you a number and bring your food out to you. --Service is fast. I am not exaggerating, they brought out our food after we got our fountain drink, while we were sitting down.Overall, I would highly recommend!!

Plateia Mediterranean Kitchen is a wonderful restaurant. I've been there several times and I've had a great meal every time. Their food is super flavorful and made from scratch. I ordered the pork skewer from the specials menu, while my husband had the chicken plate. It was super yummy. They started off our meal with fresh baked bread. We also got the saganaki. This came fried, but there were no crackers to dip it with. We were super disappointed that they didn't light it on fire in front of us. The best part of the meal was the dessert. The server recommended the eclair, and it was fantastic. There was a large group that was seated next to us. This group was very loud, and it was hard to hear people at our own table. The table they sat us at was right in the middle of all of the traffic, and everyone was constantly passing by our table, despite other tables being open when we were seated. Our servers were too busy to take care of us. We only saw them a few times and felt pressured to order quickly because we may not get to order again for a while. The complimentary bread took close to thirty minutes to come out. This could've gone well with the saganaki.I will come back to Plateia Mediterranean Kitchen for their excellent food. I just hope that the service improves by then.

Went here for the first time in at least 5-6 years and have to say the quality has stayed consistent over this time. I got the lamb & beef gyro plate. Meat was in the saltier side but balanced out with the rest of the food. It's sort of like a chipotle for Greek inspired food. The veggies, pita and sauces were all super fresh. It's up on the second floor of the hospital pavilion and parking in the area is tough so I usually only go here if I am at the hospital anyways. To top it off the staff was all super friendly.

It's a whole in the wall. They don't serve the hot dogs with ketchup and they don't weigh the meat for the gyros. This is a mundane and at the same time a quintessential Chicago experience. The fries were overflowing and crispy- perfect. I don't know if I was hungry but the gyro meat was moist, savory, absolutely delicious. The extra tomatoes tasted freshly sliced. Prices are fair the crew behind me were both women- why not support them? Sorry I forgot to take pics of the food.

My favorite plate is the chicken breast dinner or the chicken kabob which are always marinated/seasoned to perfection. The menu has a lot of variety so there's something for everyone. Unfortunately they serve their plates with plastic utensils so cutting up the food is sometimes a bit of a chore."
"In 2022 we ended up having a wedding rehearsal here and it was a huge hit amongst Greek and non Greek individuals. We have since moved from the area, but have come here at least once a year to enjoy truly Greek cuisine. Over this last weekend, the day before Easter, we came here and ended up feasting. The mini kabobs on their appetizer menu were more like traditional souvlaki you'd find in Greece but on smaller skewers. (Note if you order the kabob meal the meat is much larger and more American). We both agreed the appetizer is the way to go to enjoy a local but authentic souvlaki. It was incredibly busy, but we really enjoyed our food and the many leftovers. The ambiance was a little loud, but it didn't feel crowded despite it being packed. The only thing I would recommend is the frappe being served in a class cup. Bravo"
"** Super Friendly Staff **** Quick Service **** Delicious ** Walking in, everyone behind the counter was in a frenzy. "Hi! Picking up?" I was immediately greeted. I wasn't and they were slammed! Not a problem, they quickly took my order and in no time at all, food was up! People typically pre order here I came to find out. I had the pork Souvlaki sandwich.Pork Sandwich as it is called on the menu, was possibly one of the best Pork Souvlakia I have ever had. Perfect blend of spices, fat and char. I literally pushed everything out of the sandwich and dug into the meat.Do your self a favor and order the Souvlaki itself. You can thank me later!"
"Surprisingly good! I have gone to a bunch of places like this, but I will say that this one has probably the most unique dishes and all of them fresh. I like the Francheezie which isn't very common in other places. Its cheese, bacon, and a hot dog. Its a heartattack, but good! My nephews got chicken fingers which were pretty large and everything came with fries. You can't go wrong. They also have a sizable seating area with plenty of space for larger areas. Theres millions of places like this in the area and across Chicagoland, but this is the best of them all! I will be stopping by again!"
"YUM, Olympus Gyros - you are a find! One of my favorite foods is the Chicago-style gyros - I can literally eat this on a daily basis and will never get sick of it. HA.Olympus Gyros has been around for years, and this family -owned and -operated business is loved by the locals - you can tell that they have a great relationship with their patrons, as I've overheard conversations that included how the family/children were, health, etc. - so nice!Besides gyros, they also have soups, salads, Chicago-style hot dogs, sausages, burgers, sandwiches, various sides, and 'meal deals' - look for their specials of the day by the cash register.Stopping by for a quick bite, I ordered the Gyros Sandwich with extra onions and extra tomatoes, well-done. The gyros themselves were sliced perfectly and tasted so good; the onions and the tomatoes were fresh and plentiful. The pita bread was fluffy and one of the better pita breads I've had.The service here is very friendly, welcoming, and kind. The place is set up like a small diner, with some booths inside. A small parking lot if available to park your vehicle.I'd like to return again for their gyros, but also to try out their 'famous' tacos, fish sandwich, and burgers.YUM!+tasty gyros!+friendly service!+private lot available for parking"
"Meze has a lot of potential but food is mediocre at best. A friend and I went on a Saturday for dinner, made a reservation through OpenTable. It's quite a large restaurant and was pretty full. There is a spacious bar/lounge area that had live music with multiple groups of parties gathered including what looked like a bridal/bach party. Behind this is the main dining room which is also very spacious. There is also an outdoor patio which has potential for the summer. I was disappointed in the food however. We ordered a Margherita truffle flatbread, spanakopita, and Greek fries. The texture of the flatbread was good, more like pizza but we couldn't taste any truffle or other herbs. I prefer spanakopitas in the triangular shape and but taste wise they lacked much flavor. Fries are fries but I was expecting more herbs versus the feta dump. Service was as fast as it could be for someone with 6-7 tables. She was otherwise pleasant to speak to and helpful when needed. Unfortunately Meze didn't quite hit the spot for me. I'd try other Mediterranean options before resorting to coming back. Plateia's food is much more flavorful in comparison for the burbs."
"We started ordering breakfast to go during COVID and still do when our kids don't feel like leaving the house. Something for everyone and the food is always consistently good w high quality ingredients. Proud to support a local, multi-generational family business."
"Great tasting food. Great value. Highly recommend the chicken breast pita. Pork kabobs are great also."
"Good gyros and fries. The place has a couple seats and is usually carry out. The tzatiki was very good and had a good consistency and flavor. The gyro meat was slightly charred which gave a crispy texture. It's cash only and the prices are very very good. Would recommend if in the area."
"It's not an exaggeration to say that Chicago has a lot of burger joints and hot dog joints. It's also not an exaggeration to say that you can also find some very good Greek fast food in Chicago. However, there really wasn't a good spot to get Greek fat food in Little Italy, until now. As of the time of the writing of this review, Mr. Greek Gyros is new in Little Italy. First, the food is amazing. When I went, I ordered the big baby double cheeseburger combo with cheese fries, the chicken kabob dinner, the gyros plate and the baklava cheesecake. As gyros plates go, this one of the better one I've had. I also loved the big baby double cheeseburger. The patties were juicy and it was a cut about your average fast food burger. My mind was also a bit blown by the baklava cheesecake, it's a must order. Second, the service was topNotch. The entire staff, especially the cashier, were super nice. The food came out fast, fresh and delicious. The ambiance and atmosphere for a restaurant like this was perfect. The restaurant was clean, bright and had the vibes of a fast food Greek restaurant from Chicago's Greek Town.In sum, if want a burger or some quick and delicious Greek food around UIC, this is your place."
"What a beautiful spot for brunch at Avli on the Park. Delicious brunch items, many with aroma rich Greek flavors. Refreshing bottomless mimosas and views from the rooftop. The servers are pretty fast and attentive, too. Check out the decor inside and outside. I would love to return at night, as I bet the views are equally nice. It's a short walk over through to Millenium Park."
"Haven't been here for years but food was good .. service okay ..I'd go back for sure .."
"Greektown of course has a lot of Greek restaurants, and this is one of the most enduring ones with a history of food and fun. It's a local family run business that even though it can get loud and crazy, it still has a quaintness to it. 9 Muses is more like a bar but still a restaurant. Always has some ethnic music blasting. The prices aren't bad for around here. A lot of choices for Greek are around here but this is not only among the best food, but also it's pretty affordable. I picked it for a date because it was cheaper then the other Greek places across the street. There's no valet parking here though. Good specials on drinks and food. It was $5 for a Hillas. This is one of the best Greek beers, and there's also imported wine if you're more into that. As for the food, vegetarian options are lacking but they have a few. We got the Grilled Vegetables Appetizer to share. It's $9 for quite a bit. This was a colorful plate of vegetables tossed in olive oil. Good flavors even though it was just vegetables, but it was better than it looked. There was eggplant, squash, yellow peppers, and zucchini. On the rest of the menu, there's meaty dishes like chicken kabobs and octopus. There were a few diners there who ordered these, which are delicacies in Greek restaurants. Basically it's a great place for authentic Greek. It can have more of a club atmosphere with the loud music. The atmosphere isn't for everyone, but it gives the place some personality since there's no TVs or anything to watch."
"Great Gyros been coming here for years. Also their chicken breast dinner and shish kebab dinners are delicious. Comes with rice and potatoes. Staff very friendly"
"Imagine a big, honkin' piece of meat. It rotates slowly on a spit, with a heating element or a flame behind it. You order a gyro, and a guy with a knife or shaving machine buzzes off a little bit. That delicious, roasted, savory steak or whatnot goes right into your gyro. Add some veggies and feta, and allow me to welcome you to heaven. Now imagine you are shopping at Aldi. Sometimes in their frozen department, they have something called a gyro. It's alright; for frozen food, it's very passable. The meat is heavily processed, but what would you expect?I can tell you for sure when I go to Greektown, and I eat at a place called "Mr. Greek," I expect the former, not the latter. They did have some kind of meat roasting on the spit mentioned earlier. However, when I got my order (#1 combo - gyro w/ fries and medium drink), they might as well have gotten that garbage at Aldi. This was the same warm (read: not hot), heavily processed, over-salted junk. The pita and sauce were fine, though the onions and tomatoes seemed to be thrown on as an afterthought. The fries were hot, fresh, and cooked nicely but had no seasoning (salt packets are available)."
"we tried demetri's for the first time this friday and although i still believe that greek town restaurants are a hard act to follow, demetri's was fairly good.we were cordially greeted by our host and seated in a cheerful and spacious dining room. water was delivered quickly along with a loaf of warm bread. we ordered saganaki (delicious), grilled octopus, as recommended by our server--greek salad, vegetarian moussaka, and greek meatballs.the food was very good, and main entrees were delivered to table hot. the salad was crisp, cold and was dressed with plenty of oregano (a fav). our water was refilled without asking and our server was helpful and knowledgeable. demetri's is a restaurant to try, if you don't want to make the (very) long trek down to halsted in chicago."
"Heard lots of good things about this place but was still unsure about it. It's a pretty crummy looking place from the outside. Greek Corner is better than it looks. One thing about is that it's not just another one of those greasy places for gyros and meats. There's actually a few healthier items such as veggie burgers and stuff. After giving this place a chance, we were glad we did it. It's located close to Black Dog Gelato so we see this place a lot. This was the first time eating here though. It's not big but has a few tables inside. Pretty good prices for the portions. It's about $13 for a combo. The #7 Combo is a Black Bean Burger with a drink and fries. Comes with a secret sauce, which I left off, but this is kind of like tzatziki it appears. She said it wasn't and it sucked though. We each got the rest of the toppings including the standard lettuce, onions, and tomatoes. Burgers were cooked pretty good. There's no need to cook bean based burgers long and these were almost perfect. Good except for the nasty sauce they put on everything. It should be left off for sure. There's plenty of good options for those looking for something greasy, and there's a couple burgers for vegetarians."
"BYG has prepared quite a few meals for us over the years and they've always been dependable, reliable and with good quality. They have a quite extensive menu but I'll usually choose one of their salads or a burger. This recent visit I had a burger which was perfectly cooked and waffle fries which were crisp and tasty. My companion had the spaghetti and meatballs which, though not pretty, was good with a garlicky sauce. I've cut down on my pasta consumption but it smelled really tempting. Nothing fancy here, just good food in generous portions."
"WOW! What an incredible dining experience. We had the pleasure of having Mali and Eddie hosting us. They did a great job staying on top of drink refills and timely check ins with our group. My water never went empty and I drink a lot of water! We ordered the Saganaki for an appetizer which is the flaming cheese and OH MY GOSH.. it is a MUST. I could've eaten 5 of those by myself. If you like cheese and bread, order this for sure. I got the Greek stuffed Chicken which was amazing. The chicken was so tender and I loved the spinach and feta filling. The okra was great too!My friend got the chicken kabobs which were a nice portion as well. The design and decor of the restaurant is so unique and cozy. I absolutely loved it!"
"This place is a 10! The ambiance is chill with a fantastic covered patio to boot! For lunch we all order the lunch specials which have multiple options and are quite tasty. The staff are pros and they help us make nice choices. Dinners are amazing! Make sure you have reservations though because it's a popular locals spot."
"This Dengeos is located on the southwest corner of Main & Oakton in Skokie. After eating sushi for the past 4 days I need to change up my diet (go figure). So what do I get a fish sandwich & cream of chicken soup. I have been to Dengeos before & they do have better than average selection of everything to fast foods & meals. The soup was a very small bowl about 2/3 of the size of Marianos small soup bowl. Besides the portion being minuscule it cost $4.99. Honestly the chicken wild @ Marianos is better. I had the fish sandwich once before it was delicious the first time, but this time the fish tasted like it was cooked and sat for awhile. I know the difference of fish right out of the fryer or if it's been sitting for awhile.I wasn't very satisfied w/the quality of their food this time. I know they can make it better."
"Returned after 4 years ago. There entrance is in the back of the building now. We met our friends there and they were sitting in the back to me, which almost seems like a hallway, so sat at high top table for four. Right near the door. We started with an appetizer of the Greek fries. Wow they were delicious hot fries with the wonderful seasoning, lemon and feta cheese. I could've ate that for a meal. It was delicious. I ordered the calamari appetizer which the flavoring was good. It came with pepperoncini lemons the flavor was great but I think with the veg it lost its crispness . Octopus appetizer was good almost minced very tender seasoned with lemons I ordered the avgolemeno . Beautiful presentation gigantic portion but didn't care for it. Tasted like the puff from the lemon was in it and didn't card for it. They were kind enough to take it off our bill. The Grecian chicken was fantastic so tender and succulent with cloves of garlic and crispy potato chunks that were very tender on the inside sitting in this incredible lemon sauce. Our friends had gyros and salmon special. They finished with a bread pudding . The food is outstanding I have to come back here and try the brunch."
"This place is great as the food is fresh, delicious, and economical and they are quick and the place is kept clean. They have a good sized patio if that's your preferred seating also. It's no surprise that this place was quite busy already at about 5:30pm on a Sunday evening. The other big plus for them is they sell beer and wine along with their extensive grill house menu. Our party of 6 enjoyed a couple of kids' cheeseburger meals, a cheese beef sandwich, a bifteki (ground lamb/beef) sandwich, a salmon sandwich, a bowl of lentil soup, and a hummus plate. Great place for a casual meal, and yum, will be back!"
