I'm Greek and I thought this was actually pretty good Greek food! It was also pretty fairly priced.

my 3rd time eating here...i took my friend who's never been...we were both disapppointed...i ordered the Greek Village salad with chicken...there were ends of the purple onion...seeds from green pepper...too many hard fishy anchoives....for $16.00 i felt ripped off...my friends gyros sandwich was pretty small...i won't go back...almost $30 and maybe worth 1/2 that (at best)

My boyfriend and I were walking around the Skokie Sculpture garden and smelled something delicious as we passed Dengeos so we decided to ditch our plans to cook and have a quick lunch here. Their gyro sandwiches were stuffed with meat, sauce, tomatoes and onions. It's definitely a filling meal. We also got a side of onion rings to share, which were perfectly fried but definitely needed ketchup because they weren't seasoned. Two gyro sandwichesc, onion rings, and two drinks rang up to be $35. Overall, a really great lunch spot if you're craving Greek food. Definitely give them a try! They have multiple locations around the area and plenty of parking. Service was fast and efficient.

I've come here multiple times. Great place for a gyro. You can tell the place is loved by the community.

Dengeos has been a staple go to in the area for Greek food since I could remember. Located right on the corner of Main street and McCormick avenue, the scent from all the deliciousness cooking inside spreads throughout the neighborhood. The menu boasts your typically Greek fast food cuisine with gyros, Grecian style chicken and the like with so many options to choose from.We came in to order carryout to eat at home. The indoor dining area was packed and lively. The atmosphere was very welcoming and inviting and felt like I was about to eat at one of my family parties. I knocked this review one star because the ordering line and organization in who was next and where to go was a bit chaotic and no real organization to speak of. With that said, I decided to take the first opportunity to order when I could. We mostly ordered chicken dishes,, chicken Philly, chicken gyros (the chicken is shredded like the traditional gyros meat and not chunks like other places), chicken kabob and side orders of fries, and there Italian meatball for my daughter. All superb tasting and definitely worthwhile to return back.

Gyros a little tough with the Greek salad having only one anchovy, which was my favorite part. Dining room crowded as usual but cleared out quickly with their fast service.

You know when you've been ill for days on end & experience the dreaded soup fatigue? That feel when you don't know what's worse - having even more soup, liquids, teas, & other home remedies or actually being sick? The building rage of hangry because "damn it I need food that had parents?" Literally me, when I pulled up my DoorDash app & found this gem. I was beyond grumperella & despite having a sore throat & cough from hell, I wanted a gyros. Of course I creeped Yelp & saw the gyros dinner was recommended. YAY. Yes to the big plate & give me extra pita. I did not care that I might struggle eating. I was ready to just not have soup again. (I was also ready to scream at the next person who called, reminding me to have more liquids.)My food arrived & it was massive container - packed wonderfully with everything separated. Thank you - I like building the gyros my way or just savagely eating & not bothering to wrap it up as a sandwich. This place just KNOWS. Lots of delicious tzatziki was also included. The veggies were the freshest I've had & the meat was perfection. Not greasy, not over cooked. Also, crinkle fries - crisp & lightly soggy goodness! It happens when you get things delivered. I was beyond happy, eating everything as is, bites of gyros meat, pita, some sauce, bit o' onion, etc. It was heaven for my haggard self. And I had leftovers! For the price paid, I adored this meal. If you're searching for that perfect gyros, here it is. I'm sure their other offerings are good, too. Stop by or order if you're in the mood or just sick of being sick & want some real food. (Also bonus, the leftovers were great in the air fryer the next day.) Thanks Dengeos! The gyros may have not cured my sickness, but it definitely lifted my spirits & made sure I did not go to bed sad & hangry. I will be ordering again!

This Dengeos is located on the southwest corner of Main & Oakton in Skokie. After eating sushi for the past 4 days I need to change up my diet (go figure). So what do I get a fish sandwich & cream of chicken soup. I have been to Dengeos before & they do have better than average selection of everything to fast foods & meals. The soup was a very small bowl about 2/3 of the size of Marianos small soup bowl. Besides the portion being minuscule it cost $4.99. Honestly the chicken wild @ Marianos is better. I had the fish sandwich once before it was delicious the first time, but this time the fish tasted like it was cooked and sat for awhile. I know the difference of fish right out of the fryer or if it's been sitting for awhile.I wasn't very satisfied w/the quality of their food this time. I know they can make it better.

Manager Chris restored my faith and loyalty to Dengeo's a suburban hot spot for fresh food of many types! My kids and I have eaten inside Dengeo's have gotten food to take out and love everything. The favorite dishes are the gyros, roasted chicken ( just perfect!) the salads: I love the Dengeo Garden salad with a skewer of pork or chicken. Never have I had such tender and tasty meat. Melts in your mouth! The pita bread, fries and baked potatoes are hot, fresh and never disappoint. In over 25 years as a Dengeos customer I have never had one complaint. Never. But, there was one and I am fully satisfied with the way Manager Chris handled my issue. Chris, by the way, has donated to my place of employment, Lurie Childrens & also donated to the former Children's Memorial Hospital Nurse's week Raffle. He could have donated one gift card, but every year ( for at least 10 -12 years) Chris donated 2 gift cards or more! We so appreciate that, Chris! I was at Dengeos on July 8, 2024 for a small take our order! It was not the usual hot, fresh order but I could eat most of it and decided to callOn July 9th at about 12:30 pm and explain my situation. I was told by a manager "please come in at any time and we will make a fresh order up for you. He took my name and number and apologized for any mishap.Well, on July 29th, I went in around 6:20 to pick up my free order and was met with some unpleasantness. They could not find my order in the register. So, I told a very nice Diana my story and she told the evening manager.I won't go into detail as to the extent of rudeness I experienced but it was not good. I did cry walking out and was told the manager could not take my word for the replacement order. ( value 8.97) So, I thought about writing a Yelp Review. I held back.I knew Dengeos loves to serve good food & takes pride in the cooks, the servers, the phone staff and the cashiers along with the busy bus staff. I walked in on July 30 with my daughter Laura. She could see I was visibly upset at the way I was treated and was shocked as NEVER before was I ever spoken to like that in any restaurant or business. I admitted to manager Chris that I did raise the volume of my voice for one sentence and acknowledged that, calmed down and apologized to the manager on July 29th. My apology was not accepted by the manager who had spoken rudely to me. Let's move along to the good part, the part that restored my faith and belief that Dengeos was in fact a superb restaurant with excellent customer Service and one of the best venues to go with friends, Family or even just myself getting some takeout on way home from work. I asked for a manager and lucked out and spoke w Chris. What an unbelievably nice man. He knew his customer service inside and out. He was most upset that I was spoken to with rudeness of tone and moreover, what was said. I will not repeat it as that is not my focus. Chris told me he remembered me from picking up the many years of raffle tickets for Lurie( formerly Children's Memorial Hospital). He said he knows me as I frequent Dengeos at least 2 times a month, maybe more! Chris apologized on behalf of his coworker and from Dengeos. He was sincere and my daughter remarked "mom, that man was super understanding and mom, he believed you and sat down and listened to us. "My daughter was 100% a good judge of character. The moral here is "Everybody makes mistakes."Most important is learning from them and doing better the next time.I was not extremely unhappy w the food or even w the manager's refusal to grant me the comped order for 8.97. What distressed me more than ever was the rude tone of voice and the words he used in front of his two cashiers. These were not swear words. They were simply saying that he did not believe me and I would have to return the next day and speak w a different manager. I admit I did raise my voice for that one sentence "Now I am getting frustrated and mad about this: you sound as if you do not believe me."I was upset that even with an apology from me the person would not hear me. ( I told the story 4 times ( twice on 7/9 on phone and twice on 7/29 when in to retrieve my order) . I explained that was my frustration. But, after 40 years in customer service I learned a big lesson. "Listen, acknowledge, accept and amend"! Chris at Dengeos learned that lesson many years ago, I imagine. But, I believe he probably has acted with respect and good "people skills" all of his life. Thanks, Chris! Thanks, Dengeos staff and cooks! I wrote a long Yelp, but it takes a strong person to acknowledge a wrongdoing and make an apology and offer some form of compensation. We loved our free lunch, gift card and I appreciated the refund of my 8.97 that started this whole ball rolling in the first place. Go eat at Dengeos. You will love it! Tell them Joan sent you and give a shout out for manager Chris. He did the right thing. And is an excellent manager. That's all. Over and out.
