Wonderful experience, our Chief Waiter Greg, was awesome. The food was incredible and Greek atmosphere was amazing. We had Calamari and Fried Cheese for appetizers and the Greek soup was delicious. The "OPA" with flaming dishes is a real hit with everyone!

Stumbled upon this delightful Greek restaurant and was utterly charmed by its intimate ambiance. The service was great the atmosphere was ok the foods were ok as well. This Greek restaurant fell a little short of what I. expected for a greek restaurant but the foods were fresh and decent just not what I liked. The saganaki failed- mozzarella was used but made no sense and fell short of saganaki the liquor they use to light it was not Metaxa or other brandyWe ate it but could have ignored it.

Don't know where to even start wow! Everything was fantastic, from the drinks to service and the food. Came here with a friend and we both enjoyed the food and drinks very much. Huge portions too I was surprised. We ordered the Chrissoulas Greek Salad to start off and it was so good. So much better than your traditional Greek salad because this one didn't come with capers and I really can't stand capers in my salad anyways. We also ordered the pastitsio and the Chrissoulas chicken to share and both were absolutely delicious and very flavorful. Need to come back and try other items on their menu. Will need to try their dessert next time, so will definitely be back again soon!

Restaurant Review: ChrissoulasI recently had the pleasure of dining at Chrissoulas, a Greek restaurant that left me with mixed feelings about my experience. As soon as we walked in, we were promptly seated, which was a positive start to the evening. The overall ambience of the restaurant was warm and inviting, setting the stage for a delightful meal.Let's start with the food. The watermelon ceviche was a standout dish that we thoroughly enjoyed. The combination of fresh watermelon and tangy flavors created a refreshing and unique taste. However, we were disappointed by the portion of shrimp in the ceviche, as it was quite skimpy. While the dish itself was delicious, the lack of shrimp left us wanting more. We also tried the Saganaki, which is essentially a slab of deep fried cheese that comes to the table flaming... It was a pretty cool experience, and the cheese had a really good crispy crust, but it was fried cheese at the end of the day. On the other hand, the antipasto at Chrissoulas was simply phenomenal. It exceeded my expectations and can easily be ranked as one of the best antipastos I have ever had. The variety of flavors, textures, and high-quality ingredients made it a true delight for the taste buds. Moving on to the drinks, we were pleased with the selection and found them to be delicious. The restaurant did not disappoint in this department, offering a range of refreshing and flavorful beverages that complemented our meal perfectly. We finished our meal with the bread pudding, which we were surprised at the presentation, it was a great one, but not your traditional bread pudding they deep fry a slab of bread pudding, and top it with ice cream. It was delicious but a little awkward to eatUnfortunately, the service fell short of our expectations. While our waiter was competent in his duties, he lacked a welcoming demeanor. As one of the last groups in the restaurant, it seemed as though the staff forgot we were there towards the end of the evening. We experienced prolonged waiting times of around 10 to 15 minutes between check-ins at our table. Additionally, the loud music and playful behavior from the kitchen became disruptive and somewhat intrusive to our dining experience, especially towards the end of the night.Despite these shortcomings, our overall visit to Chrissoulas was a good one, primarily due to the great food. The waiter, although not very welcoming, was pleasant enough. However, the lack of attention towards the end of the evening and the noisy atmosphere from the kitchen did detract from our overall enjoyment. If you're seeking a Greek restaurant with a welcoming ambiance and impressive antipasto, Chrissoulas may be worth a visit.

We came here on a Saturday night with reservations at 7 PM for two. We were seated immediately, and they had a table waiting for us. The staff were super friendly, and the inside of the restaurant is decorated adorably. The restaurant was very full! Which I was not surprised, because all Libertyville restaurants are very full on a weekend night. We got the spanakopita as an appetizer, which was delicious. For our entrées, we split the lamb kebab, the lobster, Mac, and the octopus appetizer. All of them were really great. My only tweak would be on the octopus appetizer, I wish that it was more of a creamy sauce, versus a lemon sauce. The lobster Mac is extremely sick. I would not recommend a main entrée, it's definitely good as a side. I'm so glad I found this place on Instagram! I would definitely recommend it to anyone in the suburbs who wants some good Greek food.

Returned after 4 years ago. There entrance is in the back of the building now. We met our friends there and they were sitting in the back to me, which almost seems like a hallway, so sat at high top table for four. Right near the door. We started with an appetizer of the Greek fries. Wow they were delicious hot fries with the wonderful seasoning, lemon and feta cheese. I could've ate that for a meal. It was delicious. I ordered the calamari appetizer which the flavoring was good. It came with pepperoncini lemons the flavor was great but I think with the veg it lost its crispness . Octopus appetizer was good almost minced very tender seasoned with lemons I ordered the avgolemeno . Beautiful presentation gigantic portion but didn't care for it. Tasted like the puff from the lemon was in it and didn't card for it. They were kind enough to take it off our bill. The Grecian chicken was fantastic so tender and succulent with cloves of garlic and crispy potato chunks that were very tender on the inside sitting in this incredible lemon sauce. Our friends had gyros and salmon special. They finished with a bread pudding . The food is outstanding I have to come back here and try the brunch.

This is our third trip to Chrissoulas, and it's been so long ago I can't remember whether it was good or bad, so I, m starting from scratch. It was a beautiful May evening so we requested outside seating which was nice . We didn't have reservations and the staff was friendly, and promptly seated us . My wife and I started with Greek salads which were fresh and delicious. We weren't real hungry so we decided to share some appetizers. Ordered Saginaki and it was boring at best. It had a thick coating of flour and no flaming brandy and no sizzle Grilled octopus was next. It was very tasty and tender. The meal was topped off with a large piece of baklava which comes with a side of vanilla gelato, plenty for two . Delivery of our Cappuccino was slow but they were large and good . Overall good and we will return as we would like to try their Spanakopita !

Get Her to da' Greek! We had an Aussie friend in town so we wanted to show her how downtown Libertyville does good grub.We skipped appetizers as one of our diners opted for a Greek Salad and the Lemon Soup. Both were delicious in flavor and substantial for a lighter dinner. The Lamb Chops (3!) were cooked perfectly and served with the best crispy potatoes. Two of our party decided to go with the server, Doug's recommendations, and get the smoked Gyro with a side of roasted Brussel Sprouts. My beloved ordered the smoky, pulled Pork Ragu with Buccatini, which was the perfect comfort food--with cheesy Parmesan love sprinkled on top to add, yet another layer of flavor! Doug and the service staff didn't miss a beat on the packed Friday night! Glasses were always full, as were our bellies (sadly, we had no room for Baklava or coffee). My wife opted for a second Poseidon's Punch for dessert--it does have a scoop of sorbet on top of fruit juices and tequila! The rest of the table stayed with wine, bubbly and a Greek craft-style IPA for their drinkable desserts, all which were excellent. The taverna-styled dining room was packed by 600pm so hit up Open Table and make a reservation. The ambiance was that of a quaint Greek tavern...with lots of conversation and great smells---roast and smoked meats, garlic, seafood, adult beverages, and views of the snowy, downtown area! Can't wait for warmer weather for outdoor dining with the staff at the highly-touted Chrissoulas. Be there, or be square!

Positively loved the outdoor reservation option and the upbeat server. The restaurant varies from the traditional Greek menu, something that is more easily dealt with if one frequents the restaurant. The avgolemono was lemon plus, more than traditional. The taramasalata also varied from traditional--more mayonnaise with a hint of tuna(?). The traditional shish kabob was straightforward (if you want pink, order rare; medium rare resulted in well done); the moussaka was salty. But what stood out was the octopus and chorizo pasta: A+.Recommendation: study the menu and get the inside scoop on the different dishes from the server.
