"My burger looked almost like the picture and tasted even better. I'm always skeptical when I see a burger joint that isn't mainstream. I decided to try Jimmys Famous Burgers today. I ordered the #1 and doubled my patties. The burger came with fresh hand cut fries and a nice frozen strawberry lemonade. The burger meat tasted fresh and looked like it was handcrafted. Someone definitely took pride in cooking these patties up as they had a nice sear with a really soft chew that melted in my mouth. The burger didn't seem to have a lot of seasoning on it but the lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, onions, ketchup and mustard all kicked in and gave it a good flavor. I was most impressed and my burger even almost looked like the menu advertisement! Also it was a pretty big burger. I'm a big guy and it took two eating sessions for me to finish. The fries were fresh but I waited a bit too long to eat them. But no complaints here because these were hand cut and didn't taste like the normal fries that most restaurants in the local neighborhood use. I'd recommend getting mild sauce on these fries though. The strawberry lemonade was tasty! A Sweet, tangy, cold treat that is sure to help chase away some of the summer heat. I will be back to eat here soon!"

"Excellent addition to the neighborhood! Inside it's so elevated and beautiful! The decor and vibes are 100%. We had amazing cocktails, delish fries, and an amazing piece of pie for dessert. My husband and I already had dinner elsewhere but we are already planning to come back to try their burger! The hospitality from all the staff inside was top notch. They are all so kind and helpful. "OMG my first time trying this place, and I will surely be trying it again. I ordered the Maxwell polish for lunch, and the turkey short ribs, sautéed spinach and sweet potatoes for dinner. Yes, I had all this delivered to me. My lunch was really good, but dinner was truly amazing!I just moved back to Chicago from Texas. They got Turkey Leg Hut, but it ain't got nothing on this place. I can't wait for my Texas friends to visit so I can introduce them to some good turkey soul food...I am a fan for life!!!!"

"Hangry's is always solid as a greasy spoon option with great service and a parking lot just big enough to always have room for one more car. I've had many of the sandwiches at Hangry's and never had a bad experience. We recently came in for lunch with my kids, and I have to say that we need to celebrate how well Hangry's does as a family-friendly business. The staff treated the kids exceptionally well, and by the time my son's grilled cheese came out with bacon on it--a funny suggestion by the staff that turned out to be magic--my kids were in hog heaven. The fries are always perfect. The pasta is done just right, with pasta on the side or served right on it. The kicker were the shakes. I like them thick, and Hangry's still impressed me with coming in just a little thicker than that. We try to go here about once a quarter, and across maybe half a dozen visits, I've always left satisfied."

"Located in the former Uptown Cafe, Egg House is the newest addition to the Arlington Heights downtown area. On a Sunday morning at 9, it was quite busy, but we were seated immediately. The inside decor is clean and fresh. Our party of four tried a variety of dishes. I had the Egg Florentine Benedict with a side of fresh fruit. The benedicts were very good, and included three eggs. The tomato was fresh and flavorful, and the spinach was also fresh. Others had the Chocolate Chip Banana Swedish pancakes, three beautiful pancakes with lots of bananas and drizzled with chocolate. The steak skillet was in a large skillet topped with several eggs. I ordered tea and was presented with several teas in glass tubes , a nice way to present the selections available. Service was outstanding. Our server was very attentive and coffee refills were offered often. The manager stopped by to check in on us! By the time we left, the line was out the door! We will return to try some of their options."

"The sandwiches here are delicious! My friends and I ordered a larger order that included several wraps, sandwiches, and even a hamburger. I really personally liked the Buffalo chicken wrap. I found the veggie sandwich to be a bit soggy. Overall everyone seemed to like the food though which was great. The younger male who had me pay at the counter didn't seem to be very talkative or friendly, but it was earlier on a Saturday when no one was there yet. "I felt at home here immediately after talking to the Greek guy behind the counter, I believe he was the owner. Nice guy, and I didn't mind the wait for fresh chicken at all thanks to the wonderful aromas. It also gave me time to peruse the menu in more detail too. Gyros, burgers, Chicago dogs, ribs, baklava and more. Yum.The building isn't the newest but everything is clean and tidy.I went with the fried chicken dinner with broasted potatoes. Three giant potato logs with a delicious smoky grilled flavor. A tasty biscuit. A tiny little cup of coleslaw that was better than expected, though there was only about three bites worth. The chicken was good, with that same smoky grill flavor as the taters, but they were also awfully skimpy pieces of chicken. These were skinny chickens. They were on a diet. The wing practically had more breading than meat. So, they get 4.5 stars for service, 5 for atmosphere, 3.5 for the chicken's flavor, 2 for the size of the pieces, and 5 for the taters. What's that come to? I don't know. Let's just round up to a 4 and hope that future visits to explore the menu warrant that high of a score.SECOND VISIT: I ordered a gyro and it was absolutely delicious. The meat is perfect, the tzatziki sauce is perfect. Five stars all the way. The fries were meh: 2.5 stars. This puts them in solid 4 star territory. Also, I've realized that there must be a problem getting decent chicken in the area. Even KFC's chicken is sad looking. THIRD VISIT: The Greek chicken is good but not great. It could use more seasoning. The rice is fantastic, I love the seasoning on it. They remain a solid four star place and I'll continue exploring the menu."

"I went here to eat on a Saturday afternoon with a friend and had a wonderful time. Food and service were excellent and made with care. We both got the Escovitch red snapper with garlic mashed potatoes and mustard greens for one dinner and Mac n cheese, brussel sprouts and carrot fluff for the other dinner. Portions were generous and I did have leftovers for another meal. Let me tell you the fish was flaky and tender. It was also a nice portion and seasoned well. All of the sides were tasty but the winner was the carrot fluff! I know what your thinking but get it out your head! It tasted just like sweet potatoes. Sure enough, we were able to pre-order a 4-pack of this beer online on the Bitter Pops website. This also allowed us the opportunity to visit Bitter Pops for the first time. They offer a decent number of local beers in the taproom, so we each enjoyed some pours while sitting at the central bar. They have a limited food menu with noted items like burgers and fries, but we did not partake.Before we picked up our online beer order, we ogled the tantalizing takeout offerings in the emporium that featured wall-to-wall craft beers. We stuck with our original order, but it was not an easy decision to pass up getting another fun beer purchase."

We were seated right away and in the back which we preferred bc it was kinda loud, nothing offensive, but we just prefer no distractions during dinner.Our server was extremely well versed in the menu and very...lets say...passionate in her delivery. I didn't mind but it was a bit intense for my husband lol. She went thru almost all of it which we appreciated bc my husband was planning on the beef cheeks but when she explained that was a pasta meal he changed his mind. We ended up going with the hamachi appetizer and splitting the bone in ribeye and mashed potatoes. Everything was delicious and cooked perfectly. They also brought out a complimentary dessert which was pretty good but I can't remember what it was. Our favorite steakhouses are RPM Steak and Bavette's and this was on par with them. We had a cocktail and a bottle of red and everything with tax and tip came out to $340 which is slightly less than our favorites and this spot is not downtown so we'll definitely be back when we don't feel like dealing with dt traffic. If you're a fan of steakhouses, check it out, esp if they still have that promo.One thing to note is that parking is tough but they do have valet."

The fries were crispy but slightly lukewarm by the time I had walked a block back to work.The prices are what you can expect from downtown restaurants and cafes. "So I had a hankering to try out Jim's Original after my lovely wife and I ran some errands along the Elston corridor. Neither of us have been to the "Original" Jim's Original formerly located at Maxwell Street and now currently on Union, but we have heard good things about this much newer location at the crossroads of Elston, Diversey and Western. There is a free parking lot if you are driving here.The no-frills interior has vintage images of the OG location, along with metal stool seating if you are dining in. You order at the counter, and our food came out in a snappy fashion. We did not mind listening to the atmospheric bluesy soundtrack.All sandwiches are decently priced as they come with fries, so these are tasty value meals that you just cannot get at your average fast-food joint. My love enjoyed her hot dog, and I certainly liked my pork chop sandwich (yes it comes with the "bone in" so be sure not to bite into the bone). Our items are generously garnished with grilled onions and mustard, and the fries are good with or without ketchup. We were very satisfied with our meal at Jim's Original."

The falafel aroma wafted throughout the kitchen and a coworker called out, "Is that from (insert name of restaurant here)?" "No," I replied, "it's from Mr Falafel."The veggie combo contained hummus, baba ghannouj, salad, tabbouleh, torshi, dolma and falafel. It made for a very colorful and heavy plate. The hummus was ok, the baba ghannouj was fantastic, and I enjoyed the torshi (pickled vegs). I was a little disappointed that pita was not included, although this was quite a substantial plate and the price was not inconsequential- $19.95. The restaurant is very open with tables spaced out. A worker laughed because I thought there was a kiosk to order from and I kept tapping the tablet by the register but there is a person to take your order. I waited about 10 minutes until my food was ready. I think next time I'll dine in so as to confine the falafel aroma to the restaurant."

"If Crunch looks familiar it's because it was a longtime favorite Good Morgan now with a new name, new menu, and new ownership. We bought several sides which we'll save for shabbas dinner so I can't report on them just yet. However, we brought the loaded fries home for lunch and I'm overjoyed to report: in one word, AMAZING. And, that was after a long drive back home. Fries notoriously don't travel well and I have no idea why they still tasted great but they did. They are indeed loaded, no skimping on any of the ingredients and no skimping on the serving size. So big in fact that we still have a lot left over...when I update this review after shabbas I'll let you know how well the loaded fries reheated."

"Bills is a staple of the community up North nestled right in Between Evanston and Chicago, it's a small little place there are no tables and chairs. Walk up to the window and place your order the menu is simple Burgers, hotdogs , fries, they now offer a chicken sandwich and fish sandwich. You're greeted with a smile and enthusiasm and the lady that puts on your topping which also very simple. Lettuce, tomatoes, mustard,mayonnaise, pickles, peppers, and celery salt finally ketchup. It reminds me of Steak and Shake. The burger patties are cooked to order and very tasty. Give Bills a try if you're looking for simple and inexpensive. I can tell there were a lot of regulars, and a few birthday parties going on in a separate room. I definitely recommend! I have tried most of their menu and I usually get a nice Delux that I customize. Great garlic bread, Italian Beef sandwiches and well... you get it. "A classic, greasy burger joint. The Region has a lot of hype, so I had high expectations going in. I should have done a little more research, because I didn't realize it was SO casual. It's an order at the counter type of place with a very limited menu. We were able to snag seats on the small patio and wait for the food. We went simple with two cheeseburgers and fries and sipped on canned root beer while we waited. The 7 ounce burger is served with with onion, relish, and Region sauce -- which was very delicious! It's definitely a smashburger, the burger was about twice the size of the bun! It was a little difficult to eat but tasted yummy. The fries were crispy but really small pieces, I'm thinking maybe we got the bottom of the fryer basket!I did try to order a water but was told they were out, which was kind of unusual...lol! It seemed to be a one-man show, so I did feel for the staff member who was taking orders, clearing tables, and serving food. Decent experience overall! The prices are high for what you're getting, but the food is good!"

"My love and I started off a Saturday Funday by going to Gio's BBQ Bar and Grill, located on Damen a block north of Lawrence. Gio's is a sports bar with screens showing various sporting events during our lunchtime visit (Cubs baseball, EuroCup soccer, Wimbledon tennis, and other action). The walls showcase some photos of local sports legends (Michael Jordan, Brian Urlacher). Gio's also has Karaoke and Trivia nights, so they are not just a sports bar.Gio's has a good amount of sidewalk patio seating. We chose to sit at an indoor table, so we had that area practically all to ourselves as most of the patrons were congregating at the bar or sitting outside. Our youthful servers were pleasant and prompt.I ordered the pulled pork sandwich, and it was quite tasty indeed. Although not heavily sauced, the pork had an appealing crispness to it that paired well with the toasted brioche bun. I chose cornbread casserole as my side (other listed choices are fries, mac and cheese, or coleslaw), and basically it is a wedge of cornbread with some creamed corn blended in the mix. My love enjoyed the Gio's Burger and side order of fries. She also liked her goblet of sangria, and my Maplewood Beer on tap was refreshing."

"Went to the 83rd street location on a Saturday at 1pm with a party of 6. We were sat immediately. We ordered dessert for an appetizer, which I recommend. If we hadn't, we would have been too full to try it, and it was worth it. The peach cobbler was hot, and the caramel cake was cold. Both were delicious. I had the pot roast with green beans and creole corn. The pot roast and corn were delicious. The green beans were the best I've ever had. I was surprised by how much I liked them. The meal came with corn bread which tasted a bit like cake. So so good. The portions were plenty, so come hungry. I tasted the Mac and cheese. Hands down the best Mac and cheese I have had at any restaurant. I also tried the Obama sweet tea. It tasted more like fruit punch, and I will order that for myself next time. The service was great. The atmosphere was very nice and comfortable. The bathrooms were clean and private. Will definitely be back. *no pictures of the desserts because we ate them too quickly."
