Lola’s Coney Island

The nacho cheese frys were good very fresh. I would eat here again. The frys were almost crispy. Nacho cheese a lil bland. Salted n peppered. Good. The menu was mostly beef.

It's good from the prices to what they offer. It's located in a busy area for traffic which can be hard to get in and out of. The place is small with limited seating and the parking is small as well. I liked it but I left hungry still (I should have ordered another dog). Can't remember my exact order but I know I did get the Detroit dog the owners way and a New York dog. I also got a green river bottled soda. They had some music playing and the staff was friendly. I would recommend just placing an order for pick up or to go if a coney is what you're craving.

I finally made my way to Lola's Coney Island after passing by for months, and let me tell you, it was well worth the wait. Having been to Detroit multiple times, I consider myself somewhat of a connoisseur when it comes to Coney Dogs, and Lola's did not disappoint.While the chili wasn't an exact match to what I've had in Detroit, it came impressively close. But let's be clear, I'm not complaining in the slightest. In my humble opinion (and to my Detroit friends, please don't come for me), a Coney Dog is essentially a chili cheese dog. I've had this debate countless times, but my stance remains firm.I opted for takeout and added a side of cheese-drenched fries to my order. The fries were a revelation - crisp, fresh, and perfectly seasoned. The cheese had a unique blend of seasonings that elevated it beyond the ordinary. It was a delightful departure from your standard cheese.The restaurant itself exudes a cozy, neighborhood joint vibe and is impeccably clean. It's the kind of place that instantly makes you feel at home.I can say with certainty that I'll be returning for my Coney Dog fix. Having never come across a spot in Chicago that serves up these Detroit delicacies, Lola's has now become my go-to. A special shoutout to the friendly and pleasant staff member who took my order - it added an extra layer of warmth to the experience.For my fellow Detroiters living in Chicago, if you're on the hunt for an authentic Coney Dog, look no further than Lola's. You won't be disappointed.

So.....Friday night we are looking for a good Hot Dog place because you know it's Friday in Chicago and no one feels like cooking. We live down the street from this spot and have had yet to try it. It's a small but charming place and makes you wanna stop in. We made it in right at closing time...As a person that works in service I feel terrible coming in a closing as the staff is generally ready to go home BUT they said it's cool and they let us put in an order. They were super courteous and thoughtful. The food smelled good upon leaving and tasted great. I had literally one of the best Chicago style dogs I've had in years and the onion rings with the Aioli sauce was absolutely delicious. One one gripe. They forgot my chocolate cake I ordered. I'm betting it's good too. Understandable since it was closing time. I do recommend this place.I will be back. I will have that chocolate cake.

I had a burger from the food truck during Chicago's burgerfest. This was my least favorite burger out of the three I tried during the festival. I learned that I am not big on aoli and prefer other classic condiments (mayo, ketchup). The flavors of the beef and condiments did not hold up. The burger was okay but left much to be desired. I am sure the burgers are much better at the actual location with more variety to be offered.

Came in on a Friday and ordered Lobster roll,when did lobster rolls become green in texture. Inedible and overpriced $24. The mixture was coleslaw mayo and cilantro no lobster. SHAME

I'm always grateful for vegan options and was pleasantly surprised that a restaurant on the West Side had options. I had the Chicago style vegan dog which I believe they used Beyond Sausage. I like that she gave me the option to have the dog fried. Definitely a hit!

Y'all got a good thing here and with the consistent flavors in all foods, you're gonna be booming in no time.Service was kind & warm!The environment is great and feels welcoming.Definetly sending everyone I know that enjoys good comfort food here.*** HIGHLY RECOMMENDED ***

If you are from the Detroit area, this is the place. A really good coney dog that tastes like home.

Absolutely top-quality hot dog/burger joint even if you ignore the menu's Detroit slant, which frankly I have been doing because I am a bit grossed out by chili dogs. But I've had the Chicago-style dog and the Lola's burger, and both are excellent--especially the latter, which I think belongs in the conversation on Chicago's best burgers. Cooked perfectly medium, juicy, minimal toppings to ensure you're actually tasting the burger (with its smoky char flavor), and a tasty (but not overwhelming) aioli made in-house. Goddamn great burger.I live between this place and Fatso's a bit further east on Chicago Ave, and I gotta tell you, even though Fatso's is an institution I am gonna choose this place over it every time. The quality is more consistent here and the prices are actually lower. I'll try their other items eventually, maybe even the chili dog if I'm feeling brave.The few times I've been here it has never really been busy, so I want everyone to go here to make sure they stick around! Make it a destination!
