Clarissa H. "Sheffield's is a great spot during patio season! There are tons of picnic tables and lights are strung above. On the weekends (or cubs games) it's usually packed. There are no reservations, it's first come first serve to the tables. There's standing room as well, and we usually end up standing with a drink before a table opens up. While Sheffield's is usually pretty loud and bustling, I love it. I appreciate that they have about 8 ciders on their drink menu and unique flavors, too. I got a passion fruit cider, they also had pineapple and strawberry lime. Sheffield's also has a surprising amount of vegetarian options - especially for an American bar type of restaurant. The fried green tomato sliders are my favorite (2 come per order). It comes with a tangy balsamic dipping sauce that pairs perfectly with the goat cheese and tomato. They also have nachos, veggie chili, salads, and a veggie burger. I ordered the veggie burger. The patty was slightly pink from the beets and it was overall very solid."

We had a couple salmon avocado rolls and half of a specialty roll. The sushi was really good! Everything was fresh! The rolls were packed well and didn't fall apart. I would come back to Umai! They give you as many orders of fresh chips and salsa as you wish. Salsa is kinda spicy, but I prefer it that way. We ordered Al pastor enchiladas which were very good and got the churros for dessert. There are cheaper Mexican restaurants in the area but this place isn't overpriced. She looked on yelp for one that we might be able to afford and judging by yelp's dollar signs, this restaurant was one of the few. We walked quite a ways to get here, but it was worth it. We sat outside because the moon was full and the weather was perfect. We were seated immediately along the river. The views were amazing, even at night. We were given water and menus. Our waiters were extremely friendly and thoughtful. My wife requested sliders and a shrimp appetizer. We also requested some drinks. My drink of choice was an amaretto sour, which was just okay. I think it was a little unbalanced as I didn't taste much amaretto. It was still yummy, however.A little while later, the sliders arrived. They had filet mignon on them and they were delicious. The shrimp appetizer was delicious and bold tasting at first, but I found myself getting tired of the flavor by the time we were done eating it. Overall, our visit was excellent. Great food, great service, great views, and decent prices."

I then found out this place is owned by the people that gave us Brandos in South Loop. I have now been a couple of times and the place is awesome. If there was a modern cocktail bar on Game of Thrones, this would be the place. I believe they do tarot readings in the back.I came on a date once and with a good friend of mine visiting from out of town recently. Scene is cool as it has a throne, dim lighting and very intimate setting. Not that big a place and if you want a guaranteed seat, its best to get a reservation. I was lucky enough both times to get a seat without reserving. As a mecal lover, the O'Guillotine is my go to cocktail here! It includes mezcal (of course), lemon, white balsamic beet shrub and finochietto liqueur...very delicious. Maximilian is delicious as well as its kinda like an old fashioned with banana mezcal and bourbon and they set it on fire. Grand Old Fashioned is great as well! Drinks range between $14-$20. The atmosphere inside is pretty loud and lively. We started with an order of Guacamole Picoso, which was okay. The chips were very crispy, but a bit too oily-- to the point that it was interfering with the chip flavor. The guac was pretty good. I then got the Fajitas with sunny side up eggs. Especially for the price, the portions are pretty small. I also expected the fajitas to come with tortillas, but it unfortunately didn't so it was just chorizo, eggs, and veggies. I did enjoy the fajitas a lot though-- the veggies and chorizo were perfectly grilled and well-seasoned, the eggs were well-cooked, and the burnt chards at the bottom of the skillet were delicious to eat.My friend also got the fajita skillet with chicken and similarly enjoyed it. Another friend got some vegan tacos, which he thought were decent. They do have a solid and distinct vegan menu section, though it's pretty pricey-- most of the items were more expensive than the non-vegan items. My main qualm was that while the staff were friendly, the service was quite slow-- we waited for over an hour for our food to arrive. Otherwise, this is a solid spot overall-- especially if you're coming with a large group to both eat and drink, it would definitely be a fun time!--Price (relative to peers): 3.5/5Food: 4/5 Ambience: 4.5/5Service: 3.5/5Overall Value: 3.5/5"

It's conveniently close to the Damen Blue Line. This place has a cool vibe. Kind of quiet. The prices aren't that bad, especially for around here where it's hipster stuff. It's about $6 for a basic roll. We got a few of these. Best one was the Avocado Roll. It was good in spite of being simple. An example of how good food doesn't need to be elaborate. The rolls were as fresh as food gets. For sure it's pretty easy to find sushi around here but it's harder to find it fresh and cheap. It's possible to get both here. A fancy sounding place to be sure, but it turned out it really wasn't that bad. Instead of sitting in the coffee house, we came here and sat at the bar for some drinks and tapas. Things were a pretty good value. It's about $6 for a pint of one of the interesting sounding beers. They had one from Vera Brewery called Pistachio Cream Ale, and this tasted like it. As for the tapas, we got the cheapest we could. It's about $9 for the White Bean Hummus. This was cannellini beans and extra virgin olive oil, topped with giardiniera and served with naan pieces. A lot of those people don't need to worry about saving a few bucks. For those who are more thrifty, the happy hour is the best hour. Actually it's a couple hours for deals on both drinks and food. The specials vary per day of the week. It's $10 for cocktails. On Fridays it's a Manhattan. These were strong. As for the food it has a few appetizers. It's $10 for happy hour. We decided to come here before the Mexican Independence Day parade, and was really shocked to see this place pretty empty on a such a big day. We were able to get seated right away, they brought us chips and salsa at the beginning, but it took forever to get our order in. They kept going back and forth to certain tables while we were being ignored. No bueno...I did figure out towards the end why they were giving special attention to those certain tables. They were local positions. In a way I kind of understand. They were going to part of the parade, and obviously had to get them going, but you should be able to figure out how to take care of the regular customers as well. Some restaurants close the business for bigger events like this, I would definitely recommend going that route for them next time. Fortunately for them, the food was really good. The chips and salsa were really tasty. The salsa tasted freshly made and had really good flavor. I ordered their chilaquiles verdes and my wife ordered their chilaquiles w/ ranchera sauce. The dishes came out very quickly but they brought out two chilaquiles verdes. So we retuned one and had to wait a tad bit longer for the ranchera chilaquiles to be made. Turns out they use the same salsa that's used for the chips and salsa for their ranchera chilaquiles. They were both still pretty delicious. It came with fried eggs, and refried beans. The chilaquiles were crispy and topped with cilantro and sour cream. Overall I had a mediocre experience and I'm not exactly sure if I'd ever return. This South Loop location is much easier to get to than the one in Streeterville, and we had zero problem parking around 7pm on a Wednesday. That was truly a surprise, not gonna lie.In that spirit of full honesty... I was a little disappointed. The crust of our pizza tasted a little different than it has in the past--Gino's used to have this distinctive yellowy-orange crust because they had a cornbread crust. This was considerably lighter than it has been and it did not have that distinctive taste. I hope they didn't alter their recipe to taste like lesser chains, because the Lou's and Giordano's of the world have long been overrated. I'm glad I got to taste a pizza I've been curious about though--the Chicago Fire--because I usually get the Gino's special. The CF was alright, but not nearly as spicy as I'd expected, and it won't replace my usual choice.I was really surprised to find that there is no baby changing station anywhere. I asked, and they don't, so be aware of that. But in 2024 there are places without them which was a surprise, and luckily my car was right out front so I could change her in the back because I don't know what I would have done otherwise--I may have had to leave."
