"Came here for lunch on a rainy day and the place had such a peaceful ambiance! The floors are painted a serene turquoise. When you sit by the window watching it rain outside while you have your lunch, it brings peace into my heart!Besides that, service was friendly. You order at the counter and they bring the food to you. Water and utensils are self service. Food is provided with generous portions at a affordable price! We got the Lunch Special Chicken, Steak, Falafel and a Lamb Koubideh plate. Both came with seasoned rice, pickled veggies, a roasted half tomato, sauce, cheese, creamy hummus, & a half a pita! So much food! The meats were super tender and flavorful. All the food items went really went well together. We will definitely be back."
"Indian food at its best. Met the owner for the first time. Talked about her passion and love for cooking food. We loved their goat curry and chicken leg piece was nice and tender. I have went there multiple times already since couple of months, love their place. People bring positive vibes and ambiance is cozy. Would love for them to cater food for us some day!"

Visit Restaurant Page"Tried this place over dinner on a Thursday night. The owners were polite and warm. We ordered one veggie platter and Lamb Patter with one extra skewer. The veggie platter was delicious. I specially liked the salads and the falafel wasn't dry at all. However, my husband didn't like the lamb platter much as the the meat was just ok.There is plenty of parking as it's located in a plaza. The ambiance was decent. I would recommend this place and try it out for yourself!"
"I like to add to my review, that both Tea and salad been fixed and got way better. I love this restaurant and how friendly they treat there customers. During the pandemic Shibam always been my go to restaurant for carry out. Must visit .. you will never forget the taste."
"I met a friend here for a weeknight dinner. We needed a place between the areas we live and, because she was leaving from dinner for a drive of a few hours, we also wanted something relatively quick. She suggested Zad and I eagerly agreed. It was quiet there at 6:30 on a weeknight. We arrived at the same time as another party of two and offered to let them order ahead of us. They were a little slow but that gave us plenty of time to browse the menu and make decisions. Zad operates as fast casual - you order at the counter and then pick up your food when it's ready (or, in our case, a staff member brought it out to us). The food is prepared quickly, or at least it was during our visit, and is made fresh to order.I had the falafel entree, which came with two sides. I chose baba ghanoush and rice. The falafel was seasoned well and fried to a crisp while still being tender inside. The baba ghanoush was delightfully smoky and garlicky. My entree came with two fresh, warm pita, perfect for dipping in the eggplant. We also shared hummus, which has now ruined all other hummus for me for at least a month. The restaurant was clean and quiet. In addition to the party who ordered ahead of us, there was one other table with a family. It was an easy place to catch up over delicious food and enjoy our visit."
"This is in a strip mall, with access to an alley so on exiting you don't have to turn left on Roosevelt. There's plenty of seating and a mural with a little photo op bench that makes it look like you're in a minicab. Service was OK though the server was on his phone until it was quite obvious I was going to order.Vegetarian items are clearly marked and none of the "fusion" options are vegetarian. So I stuck to the classic options (samosa; chaat on samosa; various things on puri or papi), which are nacho-chip sized papadum (I had to ask). Sauces are extra, apparently house-made). I'm not desi, so I had to ask some questions - the website provides descriptions of ingredients. The "sweet" section of the menu includes mango or rooh afza falooda (which the internet informs me is rose and various herbal flavors) with little jelly bits and ice cream, or you can get them in a lassi. Or there are multiple nonalcoholic mojito flavors. I got a "plain old samosa" with spicy green chutney and a mango falooda. The samosa was unexceptional but fresh from the fryer with very crisp pastry; the spicy green chutney was; and the mango falooda was delightful. I'm not super excited about the food (I'm more or less done with samosa chaat and I'm not a big fan of puri) but I am excited about the drinks selection. I'm not the target audience, but if you like fast Indian street food with a variety of sweet drink options, check them out!"
"Hold up wait a minute ....Get you butt in gear and get here tonight! This place is off the hook, authentic Mother and Son's cooking up some of, if not the best Shawarma I have eaten, and let me tell you I've eaten it all over Chicago and the USA from Seattle to NYC I went with the Combination Entree, and you better bring you big boy pants if you want to finish your meal, I'm eating the leftovers for lunch right now not as good reheated but my taste buds are still happy My other half got the fried chicken "spicy" it's not that spicy but the ghost pepper wings are.Bring your patience now the chicken is made to order so no old dried out chicken sitting under a heat lamp. It's hot, fresh, juicy and full of flavorIt's truly worth the wait.Order yourself some Chai tea it will make your taste buds do a happy dance Not many places have ever gotten a 5 star review without a second visit but seriously I want to go back tonight but I'm working, oh its not listed but they have delivery just call it's one of the son's delivering I believe."
"We ordered a lot of food for takeout today as my husband was craving for their food. Big thumbs up for the takeout package! I was surprised that everything felt like fresh out of kitchen when we got the delivery. The food was carefully wrapped with tin foil, so everything was nice and warm. Overall, the food was delicious. Love their beef samosa for the crispy shell and garlic naan bread for the fluffiness. However, the Tandoori Lamb Boti Kabob was terrible. The meat was dry, chewy, and loaded with spice... Not sure if this is the way that lamb kabob is supposed to be, but that dish is one bad apple that ruins the bunch."
"Food was great. The place looks awesome. The server was great. Over all A+. We order the seafood mix, shawarma mix plates. Will definitely be back."
"I love Hyderabad house. Maybe a hot take, but this place has the best Andhra style food, and South Indian food more generally, in the Chicagoland area. Has unique items like pomfret fish fry, that you won't be able to find elsewhere. The service can be a little hit or miss, but it's worth persevering through for high quality food!"
"Since my kitchen is out of commission while being completely renovated, I have been taking advantage of takeout and delivery. Tried Shibam after looking through their menu and noticing some curry dishes. This along with a side of basmati rice were outstanding. The food came fast and was full of flavor. The curry chicken and rice reminded me of a cross between Afghan and Lebanese. From what I remembered years ago, the restaurant serves Yemen cuisine. Nevertheless, I would certainly order again. After an experience I had several years ago, I never returned for a sit-down so that I could blog the experience. Perhaps when things ease up with the pandemic, I will go for a proper sit-down. If not, there is a strong chance that I will order again for delivery."
"They were very attentive, taste was good and had plenty of vegetarian options. It hit the spot on a cold fall afternoon. The prices were ok and there was enough food for leftovers the next day."

This was my first time to Noon O Kabob, and I was very happy with my choice to try it out! Everything we ate was wonderful. The best part of the meal hands down was the protein. Every single type of protein we tried (both lamb and beef koubideh, Lamb Kabab, Chenjah, and Joujeh) were DELICIOUS. They were so hot, fresh, cooked perfectly (juicy), tender, and extremely flavorful. The dill rice was delicious. The veggies on the side and piece of feta cheese were a nice compliment. The mashed eggplant appetizer was probably the least successful of the dishes, only because it was not what I am used to. I come from an Arabic household, so I tend to have very high standards for food like this. I was very impressed.Really the only disappointment of the meal was the pita bread. When the rest of the food is so authentic, fresh, and delicious, I am expecting the bread to live up to the same standard. Unfortunately, the bread they serve at Noon O Kabob is the lowest quality store bought pita bread that Arab people don't even prefer to buy from the Arab stores. I understand if they do not have the capacity to make their own fresh bread, but I know that they could buy better quality and better tasting pita from Arab grocers or other Arab bakeries in the area.

Really enjoy visiting Makki grill for halal fast food! Kids love their Chicken tenders and fries. Burgers are decent too. I have tried their garlic naan and butter chicken in the past and they were good. The wings and pizza are also great options. The wings are extra crispy fried but addictive - bet you can't just have one. The pizza is crispy and the gyros or chicken (or both for meat lovers) make them really unique and well enjoyed by the family for quick meals. They have a reward program and the prices are very reasonable. It's so nice to have this option in our area.

This place is definitely a hidden gem. The food was outstanding. The owners are friendly and welcome. Looks like a family owned business. We got the chicken shawarma wrap and chicken tawook dinner plate. The chicken was so juicy and flavorful. The chicken tawook especially was well cooked and seasoned. Very good comfort food.

We picked up from Zad's for an After event party for about 30. It was ordered last minute so great they could accommodate us.Decent sized dining area and quiet around 7 Sunday evening. We ordered a variety of dishes. Main-Beef Shish Kabob, Chicken Tender and Falafel-Chicken and Falafel were enjoyed more than the Beef. Hummus and Fatoush Salad were excellent. Turnip salad was a good one to try-salty and something different. Zad's Rice was also very good.Service was friendly and upbeat for pick up. Connected to the Pita Inn and looks like a local favorite.

Oh wow. What an incredible surprise. Everything cooked to order and it shows. They put the Arabian Shwarma wrap on the grill for a great golden crisp on the bread. Fried chicken was also super. And everything om the shwarma combo plate was incredible. Right down to the rice. Huge fan. Best shwarma I've had in Chicago and the owners and servers couldn't be nicer or more hospitable.

Very decent Indian food! I ordered the veggie samosas and chicken Tikki Masala both good. Cilantro chutney was not the best and Tikki Masala was a bit salty - 6/10
Visit Restaurant Page"This is some of the best food in the Chicagoland area. After they closed their Devon St. location in the city we finally made a trip out to Naperville to taste that perfect Frontier Chicken and Lamb Kebab once again.I'm happy to report that the Naperville location is just as good as the closed Chicago spot. I was so happy to see the menu is also intact. Service was fast, and the restaurant was very clean.I'd give them more than 5 stars if I could. Get the Frontier Chicken and Lamb Kebab for sure, but I'm confident everything on the menu would be perfect."
"Awesome Indian spot in north center! I started with the samosas and onion naan bread, both were amazing. For entrees, I ordered Chicken Chettinad and Haryali Chicken. Both were great and had decent spice. Each entree comes with steamed rice that was perfectly cooked. Highly recommend Indian clay pot. Amazing depth of flavors and amazing food. Can't wait to take friends here again soon."
"The food here was fresh, hot and good quality. Choose this spot as had a discount from restaurants.com. This venue is in the heart of Lincoln Park near the Apollo Theater. For food we grabbed onion rings, curly fries, and two burgers. I grabbed the backfire burger. This burger was really good but maybe too much sauce. My husband stated that menu said that burger come slathered in sauce. When I return, I will ask for less sauce or sauce on the side. It was too much for me. Anyhoo the burger was tender and cooked perfectly. The backfire sauce is spicy...but good. My husband enjoyed his firefly burger and his curly fries. The onion rings were stand out and would definitely order again. All in all a good dinner."
"I highly recommend this business! The food was hot and delicious, the portions were generous, and the presentation of the food was nice. The variety on the menu was large - although the drinks were a little constrained. I asked for tea, but I was warmly greeted with that which wasn't my imagination nor typical of the American convention (black tea). Something easily oversee-able, especially when the milky beverage was tasty nonetheless. The cleanliness of the restaurant, the service, the prices - all stellar. Our waitress was so darn polite and kind. It was unlike any previous service I had experienced in Illinois. There was no wait time either (we walked in at 12:47 p.m. on a Saturday). I would be so glad to return for further business and thankful to have been shown it."
"Low key location in a stip mall with delicious food and great service. My wife and I would br happy to come back."
"We are grateful for this unique addition to the local dining scene. The food is FANTASTIC. Various kebabs, the dill rice, even the little sides and garnishes, all are delicious and crafted with obvious care and expertise. If you're looking at the menu just for takeout, it may seem a bit pricey, but the quality is incredibly high, and you get a large quantity of food. Each entree makes three meals for me.The dining room is classy and warm, perfect for a date night. We can't wait to try the dine-in experience."
"First time at Anor, and you can pick any spot. I looked at the menu but did not know what to order and asked the waitress if she could recommend a few dishes to try. We ordered the Manty ($18) which looked like steamed meat dumplings. The dumplings tasted good without any sauce, purely minced ground beef mixed with onions. Next item was the beef Kuudak ($18) which was similar to the Manty but not steamed but pan fried with the same meat filling. Last item was the kabob which was the best tasting ($25) 4 morsels. Overall, the food was ok and should have ordered different dishes not sure why she ordered the same meat dish for us. The location of the restaurant is near many other food types. If you halal food than this place is your place to try. Street parking available. no BYOB."
"Very delicious and mouth-watering mutton biryani. Generous portion of rice, spiced well, rich, and full in color. Friendly and prompt service. Overall, an awesome spot for halal food and unique flavors provided in a casual setting."
"We went on a Sunday for lunch. We placed a to go order consisting of one falafel pita, to chicken schwarma pitas and two lentil soups ($38). The woman at the counter was nice, but she was flustered. She told us a couple minutes and it turned out to be 25 minutes to get our food. Once home, the schwarma pitas received a good review. Loaded with chicken and very large. The falafel was also large, but is was very, very seasoned. Maybe it was too much coriander and a bit too much cumin. I could not taste the pickles or the garlic sauce through the spices. This type of falafel is not for me, so I would not return, but the others did like their sandwiches and the soup. If you dine in, I still believe you order at the counter. There is plenty of space inside the restaurant which has two rooms. The paint, flooring and finishes look new and are well done."
"The flavors that come out of this small restaurant in a strip mall on Dempster are just amazing. If you've never had Afghani food before, Afghan kabob is a Percy place to try. They offer delicious kabobs, lamb, chicken and beef which are cooked to perfection and spiced just right. All the meats are seasoned so well that not only do you get a tasty dish but it is also moist and consistent. The service is usually pretty fast as well. I ordered carry out for dinner on. Friday evening and turnaround time was 20mins. Can't beat that for fresh cooked food to order."
"About a 1-1.5: I saw that Ya Hala had some rave reviews, but after my experience, they are a bit sus.Their menu offers various apps, salads, sandwiches, and entrees - we tried:+Eggplant Fatteh - prepared with eggplants, beef, pita chips, tomato sauce, and garlic yogurt sauce; the pita chips that were mixed in were super soggy, and should have been served on the side for the consumer to mix in+Mskhan (musakhan?) Rolls - with bread, chicken, summac, onions, lemon juice, and olive oil; kind of similar to egg rolls+the Mix Grill - comes with beef kebab, chicken kebab, and shish taouk - this came on a bed of rice with a side of salad and hummus; unfortunately, the meats seemed to not be fresh and reheated; they were not cooked on the spot and seemed to have been prepared way in advanceService was friendly, but the food was super disappointing.Parking available in the shared lot.+not-so-fresh meats+parking available in lot"
"Anmol Barbeque Restaurant is a Casual, family-owned eatery offering traditional Pakistani cuisine made from halal meats. This is by far the best bbq we've had on all of Devon ever! We've tried them all and Anmol is a definite stand out from the rest. The place is very clean and they also have a sink where you can wash your hands before and after eating. Entrees are not only outstanding but generously portioned. They are the only establishment on Devon that puts 3 sauces on the table (cilantro-creamy, mint onion chutney- herby, and a plum - sweet and spicy) to go with all your meats and entrees. The place is packed on weekends but well worth the wait. Staff is professional and won't rush you like some other places there do. Amna was our server and she was very attentive and made sure we had an enjoyable meal. All items are top quality, authentic, freshly made and delicious! This place doesn't disappoint!"
"I heard about this place from a few of my friends and boy am I happy that I stopped in. I ordered the "House Geber Durum" ( yes, weird name) and it was worth it. The food was made fresh when ordered and it was absolutely delicious. The Durum (wrap) was perfectly toasted ( Tostini :)) with a soft yet crispy crunch. Inside the Durum(wrap) had an explosive taste, I couldn't get enough! Inside is small and has a boutique feel. They also have a generous outdoor patio that's has a cozy feel. I definitely recommend this place!"
"Delicious food and really good flavor.Friendly service, cute little dining area.My kifta kabob was too good and my friend loved her wrap. I loved the fries too. Can't wait to come back!"
"I found Sorry Mommy searching here on yelp! It said it was a Thai food restaurant and that's what we had a taste for, and we were in for a surprise...Upon arrival, you noticed that the decor may have been originally a Mexican restaurant but it just suits this restaurant so well when you meet the owner and his staff and get a feel for the other customers -- Asian, Eastern European, East Indian. It's a down-to-earth, authentic food and staff, pleasant experience.Upon first look at the menu, we realized there were only perhaps three Thai items. The rest were... kind of middleeastern, kind of mediterranean, kind of asian, kind of... we couldn't figure it out but we were excited! After a roundabout conversation with the owner who was also our server, I finally asked straight out and he said they're from Central Asia and I pushed a little more and... Kyrgyzstan!!! We were even more excited and intrigued to try his recommended items.Sorry Mommy salad -- mixed greens, blueberries, dried cranberries, walnuts, avocado, tomato -- fresh, mega-healthy, delicious! This is either a meal in and of itself or perfect for two or more people.Tom Yam -- a slightly spicy fish soup. I think it had coconut milk in it. It had salmon, shrimp, some other Seafood, as well as I think perhaps peppercorn, lemongrass, and..? It was wonderful! We really enjoyed it! Again, this was either a full meal or good for two people or more. To be sure, read the ingredients on their menu posted here in yelp.Chicken kebab -- just as the owner told us, this was going to be very juicy and flavorful, and it was! One skewer of meat, a little bit of sweet pepper, red onion, and white, and a small boat of what seemed like a tomato, pepper, onion sauce. This was just a single skewer and the price was appropriate, but perhaps a full meal would be better as a double portion. As Kyrgyzstan has many Muslims, it's a halal restaurant. As such, no alcohol, but that was okay by us. In fact, at the owner's recommendation, we had a pot of homemade fruit tea and it was absolutely bright, full of flavor, almost honey like, and delicious. It came in a glass decanter and you could just see the flavor dying to come out. Here's where I feel like a jerk- - the owner shared the word three or four times with us how to say teacup and I have forgotten yet again. We were full, and quite content, by the end of dinner and wonderful conversation in a quiet environment with a happy humdrum in the background. They offered us dessert, and we thought about it, and thought about it, and decided to go with the kyrgystan version of honey cake. It was a layered cake, with definitely the taste of honey, perhaps some cinnamon and a little bit of maybe Farina, and something that may have been a fluffy cream cheese in there as well. Whatever it was, it had a unique, special flavor that we had never had before, and it was wonderful!Prices here are very reasonable especially for what you get -- homemade, large portions, knowledgeable staff, wonderfully friendly and engaging and helpful staff, and a clean and peaceful restaurant. We are definitely returning for another visit for the friendly and comfortable environment and to try yet some different items. What a wonderful cultural experience, something new, and memorable."
"So glad I got to try this place! I tried the loaded fries, which come perfectly seasoned and topped with cheese, chicken tender pieces, and pickles. I also opted for the golden chicken burger, and it was fantastic and so filling. It came with 2 large chicken tenders on the tasty bun, accompanied by pickles and their golden sauce, which was delicious! You have the option for your spice level, but I went with original. The serving of food was very generous, and those 2 items were way more than I could eat in one sitting. Although there is space to eat indoors, it worked perfectly to take my food to go also. Food was prepared in about 10 minutes. There's plenty of parking out front and on the side street. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The whole menu looks great, so I can't wait to come back and try some more!"
"What we have here is great food, lovingly prepared, served with attention. The Chicken Biryani may be the best I've had in Chicago. Perfectly cooked rice, delicious. Recommended."
"Wah Taj is amazing!! This Indo-Pak fusion restaurant replaced the old Indian restaurant "Sankalp". The inside is completely renovated and remodeled and looks so much better - way more modern. My group and I shared a variety of entrees - we tried the Paneer tikka masala, butter chicken, chicken 65, garlic naan, vegetable samosa & mango lassi. Every item we tried was delicious and everything was made to order - be patient when you order curries as they are making them fresh - no premade curries here. They can make the meals to your spice level from mild to very hot.The service was excellent - extremely friendly and happy to tell you about the chefs specialties or anything all the menu. Prices are very reasonable. I will definitely be back to try their lunch buffet ($20) and their wraps.Thank you Wah Taj!"
"6 years since my last review. This place does not disappoint. Stopped by this evening for a gyro bowl and still very clean place , friendly staff, and delicious food."
"Woah, an Egyptian restaurant has opened on Maxwell and close to where I used to live and work in Chicago! After my one visit, I can say it definitely deserves all the stars it can get. Finally, I have a chance to try Koshary, Egypt's national dish. If you look at the reviews and photos, you'll see that it's a mix of rice, lentils, and pasta, topped with a tomato sauce and fried onions. All of it is naturally vegan friendly which made this an easy order for me.I really enjoyed my first experience trying their koshary. The plate looked massive but somehow I was able to finish it on my own. It's definitely a sharable plate so I would recommend that if you are with others and can do family style. Egypt's national dish is a plus in my books.I tried some of my friend's fries from their pitas and they were some of the best fries I've had in a very long time.Service here was super friendly and attentive. They explained the different dishes to us, made suggestions, and even apologized when our food took "longer to come out," which it really hadn't been that long either! Thanks Cairo Kebab for the great meal and I hope that you all continue to stay in business."
"We ordered tonight because I don't know how to plan meals. I really wanted Mediterranean and somehow stumbled upon Rumi. Ordering was frustrating... when I went to the site I entered my address first thing to check whether they delivered here, and the site indicated they did. But when I tried to add a modification to one of the items we wanted to order it didn't have an option for that... so I called, only to find out that they didn't deliver here. So according to the dude who I spoke with, I couldn't order over the phone for delivery because I was outside the delivery zone but I could order online because GrubHub or whatnot would pick it up. Weird. The food was good. The portions were adequate and the meat was flavorful. I didn't have much of the accompanying vegetables but the pickles were pretty good. The garlic sauce hasn't replaced my favorite, but it was good nonetheless. I would eat here again if I was near the restaurant, but not sure about using the ordering system again. However, it did get here pretty quickly--about half hour after I got a text saying it was picked up--and that I definitely appreciated."
"Was craving something delicious today and was reading great reviews about this market and cafe. I was welcomed by big smiles, great conversations and an amazing menu for carryout meals. The gentleman behind the counter was so helpful and really had a passion for his food there...he described as the "Best Street Food Style Meals"I ordered Lamb SoupWedding SoupKofta Sandwiches Beef Shish Sandwiches Bulgar KoftaMeat filled Pide....WOWOWOWOWMany delicious recommended dessertsAll were amazing choices...I will definitely make the 30 mile drive to come try more. I highly recommend this place"
