Another favorite South Indian restaurant in chicago. Kerala style cuisine. Been coming here since before Covid (their next door location)... the taste of the food has been constantly delicious since! Mr Sai the owner is really very friendly and always comes to check on you. The waitstaff are very good at recommending on what you should try. Everything is a must try you will never regret!... especially the herb rice and the herb tea is my favorite! There are so much of flavor authentic to the cuisine and the dish style and you can see the fresh herbs used in the dishes (curry leaves, red chilis, chat masala) Currently seating might a little limited as they are trying expand the restaurant with next door. Bar is not open yet will soon after expansion. A must try if you are in mood and taste for some authentic South Indian cuisine.

We came on a Friday night. We had seen Clay Pot for years and noticed that they had moved to a new building next to the old restaurant. The new addition was clean and modern looking from inside and out. It was not very crowded and we were seated quickly. There are not many tables but they seem to do a load of takeout / delivery. We heard it was BYOB and we brought some beer. The menu was mounted on a board and offered mostly basic Indian fare, with several house specials. We ordered a couple of appetizers Chilli Gobi and Veggie Samosa to split. I ordered the Herb Paneer and Mushroom Masala. My friend had the Veggie Tikki Masala. My partner ordered the Chicken Clay Pot. The waitress asked how spicy our to make our entrees and I added for very spicy and my friends asked for spicy. The appetizers arrived fairly quickly, The Chili Gobi was not bad and the Veggie Samosa was decent, nothing special. Our entrees took about 20 minutes to arrive. They looked good. My masala was not very spicy or warm, the only thing I could taste was cinnamon. This was one of the few times I should have sent the food back, but I was tired and didn't want to wait another 20 minutes. My friend shared her Tikki Masala which was not bad. My partner liked his Chicken Clay Pot. Overall the restaurant atmosphere is new but not very interesting, the service was very good, the food was mostly a miss. If you do go, apparently order the clay pot chicken. I doubt we will return.

Indian Clay Pot has become one of my new favorites for #indian in #Chicago. While Indian food is not new to me, I was not quite familiar with southern Indian style . While it appeared to be primarily a carry out business , if you get a chance to eat there, you'll have a wonderful time. The service is friendly and very accommodating. Some recommendations include the Manchurian Gobi (cauliflower), paneer, and of course butter chicken!! We got two types of naan and paratha which. We happened to go on a very cold day, so there weren't quite as many folks there, but think it's probably a fun place during better weather!

Awesome Indian spot in north center! I started with the samosas and onion naan bread, both were amazing. For entrees, I ordered Chicken Chettinad and Haryali Chicken. Both were great and had decent spice. Each entree comes with steamed rice that was perfectly cooked. Highly recommend Indian clay pot. Amazing depth of flavors and amazing food. Can't wait to take friends here again soon.

Their food is very good, but they never delivered our food when we ordered from their website. We called several times and they said the door was on the way. After two hours, their phone stopped working we called. I'm not even sure how to get a refund so it will probably end with a credit card dispute which is unfortunate all around. It is unfortunate to see this place struggle.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE!I NEVER leave bad reviews, but Indian Clay Pot has earned the exception.1) The food is not even remotely good. The Kadai chicken was bland and barely edible. The naan was soggy and tasted like they pulled it out of yesterday's garbage. And somehow they manage to make plain basmati rice taste horrible!2) The portions are tiny for what you're paying.3) It took 2 hours for them to deliver it (over an hour late), despite only being 2 miles away (15 min drive). The order was supposedly picked up at 7:15 but not delivered to me until 8:20. They have their own delivery, so my guess is they try to save money by taking all the orders at once.As if the subpar food wasn't enough, thanks for delivering it cold and stale! There are too many good restaurants on Devon to patronize, don't waste your hard earned money on this garbage!

Indian Clay Pot is a great option for those seeking a delicious and affordable introduction to North Indian cuisine. The use of clay pots adds a unique touch to their dishes, and the friendly service creates a welcoming atmosphere. While the ambiance might be casual and seating limited, the flavorful food, reasonable prices, and genuine hospitality make it a worthwhile visit.

I was excited that they had clearly marked gf and vegan items on their menu, but that's where the excitement ended.Don't count on the patio being open. I made that mistake, thinking that the patio would be open on this gorgeous late afternoon (mainly because I'm trying to avoid getting covid again). Unfortunately, no patio--seating inside only, in a very tiny space with the world's most uncomfortable chairs.Spice level? I asked for medium-high, but as far as I could tell, the only "spice" was salt--way too much salt in almost everything but sadly, very little heat. (I call that "white people spice level" and yes, I am a white people but one who really digs spicy food). The chicken was dry, overcooked, and the lamb was dry, overcooked, and salty--more in line with jerky. :-(Service? Well, I was seated. And food was brought to me. Then the check. And that's how service went (As a former waitress in a prior life, I have reasonable expectations of my servers. This was the very bare minimum.)The server who took my order tried to get me to order naan with my meal. I told her I would love to, but there were no gf options--she said yes, and pointed to the first option, clearly labeled "vegan." Ummmm..........All in all, it was... edible. Adequate. And I won't be going back. I wish them the best of luck.

The food is delicious. I order takeout most of the times. Sometimes the order takes longer than what they say is going to take. But the wait is worth it because we love their food.
