"First timer at LeTour., I Tried the Brothy Banger Mussels for dinner. Delicious and abundant. Our waitress (C.C.) was wonderful and very helpful in deciding what to choose. I was a little concerned, since the mussels mentioned a spicy harissa broth, and C.C. told me they could customize the spice to my taste since "spicy" can sometimes be overwhelming... I was grateful.I started with the LeTour Gin and Tonic. Not a traditional G&T, using two different gins, with a sprig of rosemary, and a bunch of pink peppercorns, in a large wine glass. Very pretty, and very refreshing. The "traditional" in me really wanted to find a reason to dislike it, but the actual me wanted to order a second one.My dinner partners had the Chicken Paillard and the Steak Frites. Both were quickly consumed along with their non-alcoholic "Provence in a glass", and "ma petite". We sat in a nicely decorated corner of the restaurant and people-watched while we dined, never feeling rushed, while we were well taken-care-of by C.C.We will definitely be back."
"I've heard nothing but absolutely incredible things about Aboyer, so naturally when we were looking at restaurants to visit for during restaurant week it was a no brainer to visit. Upon arrival, the parking situation is street parking but there are a few parking lots around for you to park in. Once we walked into the restaurant, we were greeted by Sergio with a friendly smile and he showed us to our table. At the table, we were offered sparkling or still water. Our friends opted for sparkling while my husband and I had still. We decided we were not drinking with dinner and wanted to enjoy the incredible food as it comes to fully appreciate all of the flavors. The water service was a bit slow considering how small the cups are, we sat with empty cups for quite a bit before we asked our waiter to just leave the bottle (mainly because we were just drinking water for the evening). While we waited for our food, we took the time to appreciate the ambiance of the restaurant. As the evening went on, the restaurant was bustling with more folks eagerly waiting for their table for dinner. Folks were able to mingle at the bar and grabbed drinks while they waited. To start, we decided to get cheesey bread (I'm so sorry for not remembering what they were called on the menu!) but they were incredible. Each bite was warm, and the filling was just enough to make it not overpowering, but super flavorful. We also got bread service with was an assortment of breads with butter and an olive tapenade. My first course was the Potato Perigord Truffle Soup. When I tell yoat i u, if I died downing in this soup, I'd be dying happily. The soup was light and the truffle flavor did not overpower the soup. For our entrees, my husband got the salmon and I got the steak frites. We decided to get both to share. The sirloin came with a chimmichuri sauce and a bearnaise sauce over a bed of french fries. The sirloin was cooked to perfection, even without the sauces the steak was enjoyable and with the sauces it made for a more flavorful bite. The fries were crispy, I had to get myself to stop eating them otherwise I would've been full just on fries. The salmon was prepared au poivre, meaning peppercorn crusted. While I'm not a huge fan of peppercorn, the salmon was delish! It was cooked beautifully, where it's not too dry or too flakey. It was served on a bed of potato puree and haricot vert. As if we weren't full yet, we had dessert. For dessert, I had the Chocolate Souffle. The waiter poured warmed milk (?) over the souffle. Each bite was warm, chocolately and truly what I needed to finish up my meal. The pictures and videos did not do our experience justice. We can't wait to come back and experience one of the George Trois dinners with Chef Michael sometime soon!"

I started with a delicious cup of decaf coffee, and then moved on to the French Spritzer which was delicious! I also had the Mussels Marinieres & Frites, both of which were great. And that Chocolate Hazelnut Bar for dessert was FANTASTIC! The service was perfect and the ambiance was very nice. I enjoyed this decadent meal very much. It was overall, a lovely meal and time with friends."
"Omg! Heaven in my mouth! Their quiche Loraine is the best I ever had! So fluffy light and delicious! Their vanilla chai latte - to die for!! Almond croissant - warm, flaky, scrumptious!! I'll be back for sure! :)"
"Taureaux Tavern is a decent restaurant to have a lunch in the south loop. It's located directly behind the Chicago Board of Trade Building. The location is pretty good - around a bunch of office buildings and the CTA. I went here for a business lunch with some coworkers, the service was good and all the workers were friendly and the food was tasty, but I could not believe the prices. For example, it was $30 for a small piece of salmon with spinach and a sauce for a meal, I understand it's the city but that's totally unreal - i could have went to Marianos and got a bigger piece of salmon for $5 and have them cook it for me there! I wouldn't return personally due to the prices, but if you got the money and want a tasty meal, try it out."
"Absolutely fantastic! Whether sitting at the terrace section or inside. The service is superb. Professional and friendly staff. Prices are good and portions, too. Flavors are amazing.Make a reservation, this place can get busy.Good location, easy paid parking nearby. Food and drinks are phenomenal. Hostesses were extremely helpful too."
"I placed a small take-out order last night -- the scallop appetizer (not on the menu) with extra scallops, polenta, and haricots verts, as well as the house salad. The service was wonderful and very personable/friendly, and the food was even better than I expected -- it was cooked perfectly and packaged so that it kept well until I arrived home. The mustard vinaigrette on the salad was really great! The scallops were a nice size and well seasoned but not overly so. I will definitely be returning!"
"Happy Hour experience.Escargot, mussels, bread, oysters, and a espresso martini.Friendly service.Good portion size.Food was tasty and reasonably priced for happy hour.Comfy spot off the main strip."
"Have been wanting to try out Bistro Campagne for a few months now and was able to finally try it during Chicago Restaurant Week 2024. For the menu it was actually a very well priced deal on CRW. Large amount of food with delicious flavors and high quality ingredients. So much to the point that we took half of our main courses home and they kept very well in the fridge for the next day. Lovely restaurant and cute atmosphere. Felt like we were back in France."
"The restaurant is beautiful, and the service and food were also excellent. Our waiter was even French, which was a nice touch to the ambiance! We chowed down on the warm bread while we waited for our espresso martinis- super tasty and not too heavy. The steak tartare was a delicious appetizer to share. The Niçoise salad was a nice portion with a lot of fresh ingredients and tasty tuna. The duck was deliciously tender and flavorful. The macaroni au grautin was so tasty and rich, we had to get two orders for the table (smaller in portion though). Everything was delicious, and we also had crème brûlée for the birthday boy - not usually my favorite type of dessert though but this wasn't bad."
"This review is a thank you to the restaurant team. My son has several food allergies, including wheat. It is extremely difficult to go out to eat and find one option that's safe for him, let alone several. Since first coming to Le Sud with him a month ago, we've been back every weekend almost and plan to continue. The team is very knowledgeable about to accommodate. And for my celiacs or wheat allergy people, the fryer is gluten free and they make some of the best fries I've ever had! The food is all delicious, and even more delicious knowing how accommodating they are. We've had several appetizers and entrees and liked them all. My favorites are the burger (no bun) and scallops. The happy hour is a great deal for drinks, and again, fries are on there! They also have a rewards program! Overall I liked this place before we had my son, and I love it now knowing there is a restaurant making amazing allergy friendly food! Plus, vibes are super cute and they're always decorating for the holidays. And they are very kid friendly!"
"Discovered this cute French bistro on Yelp as I was looking for something new to go to with my BFF of 36 years to celebrate our friendiversary. The restaurant is located on the corner of Taylor and May Street, in Little Italy. I was somewhat surprised by the address and discovering this place in the middle of the land of UIC, pizza, pasta and Italian ice. Can't speak to the parking situation as I used Spot Hero, but there is street parking all along Taylor Street. The restaurant is intimate, a.k.a on the small size, but very nicely decorated. There is a small bar in the front and a patio to the left of the restaurant (didn't see it as we were sitting inside). Based on the size, I would never just walk in here to be seated, I think you definitely need to make a reservation. The room is laid out in a very French way, with tables sitting very close to each other. I love the blue palate, it was very relaxing. The tables themselves are nicely decorated but are definitely on the small side for folks like us who like to share multiple dishes. Getting a bottle of bubbles and the holder took up some real estate along with the water and drink glasses. We started out with the Pâté de deux Sortes (Duck Liver Pâté with Traditional Garnish & Toast Points), the special which was a very lovey Tuna Tartar wrapped in avocado and topped with roe, and the Calamar Grillé au Pistou et Jus De Citron (Grilled Calamari with Pesto, Arugula and Roasted Peppers). All three of these starters were very good and I would do them again. The pâté was as to be expected and I did enjoy the toast points. My only complaint about this dish is that they need to put more of those lovely pickles with it. Presentation on all three dishes was lovely. For dinner I got the Souris d'agneau au Jus de Romarin (Braised Lamb Shank, Wild Mushrooms, Vegetables Fricassés, Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Rosemary au Jus, my BFF got the Steak Grillé au Poivre (Center Cut Grilled NY Strip Steak with Crushed Black Pepper Corn, Cognac Sauce and Pommes Frites), The Doctor got the Filet de Saumon Grillé (Salmon Filet Grilled, Julienne of Vegetables, Asparagus, Potato Tournée and Mustard Sauce) and The Queen got the Linguine aux Fruits de Mer (Linguine with Shell Fish, Garlic, Basil, Sherry Tomatoes and Extra Virgin Olive Oil). Everyone agreed that their dish was very good. I tried a little bit of my BFF's steak and it was cooked to the correct temperature requested. The pommes frites were very good and sooooo thin! Absolutely lovely. My dish could have used a little more seasoning, but the lamb was very good, sliding off the bone. For dessert, my BBF got the Profiterole (Cream Puff filled with Vanilla ice cream, Warm Chocolate and Toasted Sliced Almonds), The Doctor/Queen got the sorbet and I got the Gateau aux Amondes (Baked Almonds Gateau Served Warm with Vanilla Ice Cream & Caramel Sauce). The cake was a little on the dry side for me and not enough almond flavor. My BFF loved the Profiterole and cleaned his plate. The wine that I got was the Varichon & Clerc, 'Privilège' Rose from France. I thought this was a lovely dry sparkling (too dry for The Doctor). I will definitely look for it at Binny's.Our server Omar was so nice and funny. He took very good care of us and was aware (I believe) of the limited space on the table and spaced out our food as best as he could. Overall the meal was lovely, we had a very good time, but three things happened that took this review down to three stars for me:1. The wine buckle holding my bubbles had a very long hair wrapped around it. I am not good with hair near anything I am drinking or eating and that included my own. I immediately got Omar's attention and he apologized and got a new bucket.2. For the dessert serve, I was given what I perceived to be a dirty spoon. The Doctor thought it might be dried paper towel, but whatever it was, it was on their solid. Again, Omar was called over and he took care of it immediately.3. There was a slender gentleman in a very nice dinner jacket who went between two tables that were occupied to open the drapes in the window. This actually required a little bit of reaching over the people sitting as the tables were situated in such a way that there was no way to move them over without leaning over. The second thing was in the middle of our dinner, while we were talking/laughing, he comes over and reaches onto our table to relight the candle in the middle of our table. When he couldn't get it lit, it took it with him and brought it back. No greeting of any kind or a comment to say pardon me, going to light your candle. All four us just stopped talking and looked at each other with that WTHeck look.So those three things took this review down to a three. Would I go back? Yes I would. The food, service and decor were nice. The Doctor and I were talking about if we go again, maybe we would sit at the bar and not at a table."

Le tour was one of the restaurants that are listed as top ten for French food within Illinois. We went recently to try their items out and I would say they are okay. There was no major wow factor in my option. Their appetizers are very lacking size wise. The liver appetizer had only a tiny bit of bread to go with. I feel if they gave more bread or sliced it so it's more convenient to share it would be better. The service overall was good. I feel that she was attentive and because they ordered through a machine it allowed her to tell us in real time what was left of each dish. The ambiance is pretty good. We sat indoors so it was a tad dark and hard to see. I think it's a romantic spot if you are looking for a darker restaurant with candle light.

I came here for their cigar dinner with Up Down Cigar and it was a blast! There's very few places where you can enjoy a leisurely cigar while imbibing on wine and cocktails and have food that is a gustatory experience. I had no idea what to expect but for $125 per person, we got 3 cigars and a multi-course menu. As usual, the food is incredible and Chef Michael always hits a home run when it comes to flavors. Combining the food with a good cigar elevates the experience to a whole new level. I think I might be hooked on these cigar dinners and I'm already looking forward to the next one!

I came for brunch last Sunday and had a great time. The hostess made an effort to pronounce my full name, which gave me a great first impression. She recommended that we enjoy the weather, so we decided to sit outside. The staff is very courteous, ensuring a delightful experience and great food. I indulged in their affordable and delicious bottomless mimosa.Excellent option for spending quality time with friends, celebrating special occasions, or enjoying a delightful brunch.

Friendly service and a really nice, quiet cafe. They have quite a few pastries that they offer (almond croissant, pistachio croissant, macaroons, etc.). They sell a bunch of French jams and other little treats as well. I can here to work remotely, but unfortunately there was no Wi-Fi offered here so I had to buy an xfinity hotpot for the day. Other than that, there was plenty of seating available here and the cafe is kept neat and clean. I ordered a large London fog and a passion fruit macaroon. The macaroon was packed with tangy passion fruit flavor and it was the perfect texture. The London fog was frothy and I could tell they used quality Earl grey tea. Most of the customers that come through are mainly ordering to-go items. Every time an order is placed there is a sound from the kitchen, but other than that, it was a nice place to work remotely. If I'm in the area again, I'd like to try their croissants. There's plenty of paid street parking available around the area.

Came in after work for drinks. Hostess and bartender were nice and attentive. Most of diners were on the patio.Drinks were normal price for the area and good. If you are on a budget, they don't have HH. Snacked on steak tartare but it's lacking a kick of fresh black pepper. For now, 3 stars. Will have to come back try other items.

The ambiance was nice. I really enjoyed the plants and the artwork. We started with the Cha Gio (crispy shrimp and pork roll) and the Banh Uot (Sesame Beef Ravioli). Both were pretty good, but not out of this world. The roll was pretty classic and the ravioli was definitely more unique. The signature fried rice was better than I was expecting given that it had broccoli which I thought would be weird, but was actually really good. The Shaking Beef was by far the best dish and I would go back just to have more of it! Two apps and two mains was a good amount of food for two people and we went home with a little bit of leftover rice.

My family and I have always been big fans of Mirani's restaurantand went there often. The food was always out standing and we lovedseeing Madeleine and Kaveh. Since we self quarantined to be responsible and avoid the corona virus, we have been ordering pizza, burgers, and other less healthy foods. Tonight we wanted something different and remembered about Mirani's at Home. The food was AMAZING! The best bolonais, wonderful steaks, and a very tender, tasty chicken kabob. We also enjoyed our favorite beet salad and their always outstanding mushroom soup. Oh I can'tforget their great steak frites. The food was even better than I remember it. I will definitely be ordering from there again!! Way to go Madelein and Kaveh!!! OOOPS almost forgot I also had Niloofar's fabulous trail mixwhich is not to be missed!!

I love the grown and sexy ambiance here! It was perfect for the 1st stop on my bday photo shoot. There are areas that are dark & sultry but there were also areas that are light & refreshing. I love the combo. Up front they also have a pool table Everyonee loved their meals! They said the seasoning, tender juiciness, and flavors were amazing. I ordered a salad with lobster on it which was reallyy good! I didn't want to eat something too heavy prior to pictures, but I look forward to trying more of their food. The hosts were pretty great. They stored my luggage as a curtesy and moved our table to help me get better photos. Although our waiter was also really good my mom did advised while I was taking pictures she seemed to be a bit in a rush taking their order. Only downside is they can be a bit pricey but that's to be expected at a DT restaurant. To give an example the water is $10+ if you're not getting tap.
Visit Restaurant Page"My 19 year old made reservations for my bday and we were running more than 10 mins late . We showed up 20 mins later only to be informed our table was given away. We were so disappointed and had my mom and aunt in tow .... My 75 year old aunt got so upset and asked if they could accommodate us and finally the manager came out and got us a high top table with 2 additional seats for 6 people. We squeezed In and ordered a whole bunch of food including the red snapper on the menu. The service was good , the menu lacks chicken dishes and the drinks were meh. I have had better old fashioned. . Lauren the manager came up and checked on us a few times which was good. I hope chef Carlos will increase the poultry options and also improve the drinks . The guava pavlova was superb!! I will be back with my girlfriends"
"Went to Pomeroy for the first time this week with my wife and thought it was really impressive. The north shore needs more places like this that rival the quality of restaurants in the city. The restaurant itself is super well put together. It is a solid sized space but feels cozy, the lighting and vibes were perfect. The food itself was quite good too - for starters my wife and I had the East Coast Oysters, the Tuna Tartare, and the onion soup. The oysters and Onion soup were solid, but the tuna tartare was super fresh and tasty. For our mains, we split the burger which was solid as well, but not mind blowing. I will say the fries they use are fine but I would assume Kennebec fries at a French restaurant. For dessert we had the creme brulee which was good but was chilled which was surprising. The service was stellar, our waiter didn't miss a beat, had solid recommendations, and was friendly. They even have free valet which is a nice touch. Will definitely go back."
"Six stars. I said what I said. Trying to think of something not to like about Dear Margaret...and I cannot. Don't let the relaxed bistro vibe fool you. This is fine dining. Just sit back and order all three courses of a creative and taste bud-tastic meal. And then pay what is required. You will not be disappointed. The chef does the magic without being particularly beholden to any particular culinary tradition. But it all works, just the same. Even better, in fact, than if it was contorting itself in a performative bow towards anything in particular. It just is, and it is glorious. The wine list, the foods, the desserts, the cheeses, the service. All of it."
"So disappointed with the food here. First I'll say I made a reservation for a table for 6 to celebrate my husbands birthday. The ambience was nice and we were seated right away but there were so many flies. It was annoying constantly trying to keep them from our food and table. The service was 5 star, our servers were lovely and made my husbands birthday special with a candle in his creme brûlée... now the food...Sadly everyone in our party was disappointed and we ordered a huge mix of menu items. We spent over $650 not including tip. The French onion soup was atrocious, we ordered 2, my friend was disgusted, tasted like sour lemon soup. Both of us didn't finish them and it's our absolute favorite soup to order but definitely NOT here. Awful. I regret not asking the waiter to it off the bill.My husband ordered veal and it was the strangest dish, literally looked like a goulash, couldn't tell what the meat was, awful again. The cheese plate was literally a pear cut into small slices with 5 tiny slices of cheese on it, more pear then cheese. Sadly all our guests were disappointed with the cuisine. Made me feel bad because I made the reservation. Would not come back here. It's a pity because the location and ambiance is great just the food isn't worth it."
"Brindille pronounced "Braun-DEE", translates to "new growth" in French with a woman chef at the helm! We like a woman chef! This spot is exquisite and elegant but also inviting. It's perfect for a romantic dinner or special celebration. It's adorned with black and white art, dark with intimate lighting. The attentive staff ensures a top notch dining experience. We ordered the iced oysters to start things off. The feuillete is an elegant light biscuit stuffed with mushrooms and spinach. It was delightful. The gem salad was fresh and a perfect addition. We finished with the scallops and fries. This is a huge helping of shoe strong fries served with mayonnaise which is superior! Love the story. Loved the restaurant. Loved the food."
"The pastries here are wonderful!! I stopped in on a Sunday morning to grab a croissant and the entire cafe smelled like fresh baked pastries. The almond croissant was the perfect layers and textures and the filling was balanced and not too sweet which I liked. Will be back!"
"Better food than I rembered. Good menu. The pasta with peas and mushrooms in wonderful."
"We brought some out of town friends for a late night dinner on a Monday. The restaurant was full of patrons, and it was a warm evening, despite all the doors being open. They seated us immediately, took our drink order, and brought us a bread basket. We shared a tray of seafood -- shrimp, oysters and crab claws on ice. I had the chilled artichoke, which was tender with a delicious mustard vinaigrette . I also had the onion soup, thick rich and dark with a toasted crust that turned into endless loops of cheese. My friends enjoyed the steak frites, roasted chicken, seafood linguini and salmon. The restaurant has a charming rustic vibe, with wood bistro tables, vintage silver mirrors and enormous wax dripped candles. We were too full to partake of dessert, though the choices are excellent. The food was exquisite, the service was professional. The timing of the meal lagged, however; we were almost the last table, though we did not want to linger.Au revoir, Miramar, until we meet again!"
"Lovely place in downtown Glencoe for lunch. We stopped by and ate at an outside table after kayaking in Skokie Lagoons. All service folks were very helpful. The sandwiches came with soup or salad and potato frites. We had the chicken salad sandwich, and crabcake sandwich. Both were delish. Another friend had the roast vegetable salad which was very large and good. We'd recommend if in the area."
"We came for brunch and arrived right at their opening time 10:30am. There was probably only one other party already seated when we arrived. By the time we left, the place was completely full. The service was great. Very friendly, quick and efficient. There was only one issue with the price being charged to what the menu had it listed for. We pointed it and they were able to get it corrected. Besides that, the food tasted delicious. My wife ordered their Truffle French Toast and I ordered their Duck Pozole. Definitely a lot of Duck on this menu. My wife's French toast came with whipped Boursin, honey and perigord truffles all on a thick brioche bread. My wife thought there was too much Boursin, but I thought it had the perfect amount. A really delicious dish nonetheless. My Duck pozole was just as delicious. It came with duck confit and hominy in a Duck broth and served with a side of garnishes, like avocado, radishes, chicharron, cabbage, lime, jalapeños and tostadas. Me being Mexican, I've had my fair share of pozole. But it's mainly with pork and sometimes with chicken. This was my first time trying it with duck, and was exceptional. Would definitely order it again. I'll definitely be returning to check out their dinner menu."
"Best place to stop and get a vanilla latte. Loved the fact the latte was good in the sense of sugar and taste. Desserts look amazing but we don't get any since we were walking around. They are super busy. They have a few tables you can sit down and enjoy your treats. Very instagram esthetics. 10/10"
"Timeless, beloved French townhouse dining that remains a jewel to my husband and I. They have mastered the balance of formality and friendliness. We've dined here a few times now, and have had wonderful experiences each time. Mind you, I do not favor French cuisine (prefer light, eastern Mediterranean food above all), but truly did enjoy my meal here. We have done both the 4-course and 5-course menus. Caviar (not Beluga or Ossetra but a good Sevruga)- 4Escargots (mushrooms, leeks, garlic)- 4.5Foi Grois (premier source of it)- 4 (my husband loved it, but I... less so)Lobster salad- 4.5Soups- 5Rosemary Lamb and Veal medallions- 5!Dover sole and potatoes- 5Duck with lentils- 5! "Stopped into Francois Frankie pre theater. Glad to have found a couple seats at the lovely Carousel Bar. The bartenders were hospitable and the drinks were very good. The carousel moves ever so slowly but yes it does move. Really great place to stop for a drink. Can't wait to go back for dinner."
"Ida the owner is a very nice lady, who's hands on receiving and going around greeting her customers. She's a fantastic owner and host.Their crème Brûlée is delicious and the wine selection extremely good !!The food is good. Ida is constantly checking for quality control which is outstanding from an owner. This Bistro has a huge potential the menu is very impressive. Perhaps they need to refine a little more the French taste on the bouillabaisse and thé moule but as I always say less is more. The real French cuisine is made of good and fresh ingredients and a simple but exquisite taste that's all."
"Bistro Monadnock is located in a building that The Doctor loves called The Monadnock . He wants to rent an office in the building just because, go figure. The restaurant itself is what I refer to as a hidden gem. Located between Dearborn and Federal, I wouldn't say it is on a beaten path of foot traffic and yet it was full on a Friday night. We entered from inside the hallway, so you could see that the restaurant was made up of several store fronts based on the number of doors you could see attached to the restaurant. As we walked into the restaurant, we were greeted by a gentlemen pulling a bottle of wine down from a shelf. The restaurant itself has a lovely vibe and I loved the French music being piped in....discovered several new pieces to add to my Spotify French Cafe Jazz playlist. The bar seemed inviting and there were four individual bathrooms, each as a single serving rooms with some lovely retro tiles...I am assuming that they all have the same tiles. We started with Chicken Liver Parfait (elderflower gelée, pickles, mustards, crostini) and the Steak Tartare (dry-aged beef, farm egg variation, wholegrain mustard). Both of these were very good, however I would get this with the french baguette. The crostinis were good, but too crunchy for me. It's a texture and sound thing for me, not a criticism of the crostinis. The Doctor told that they were very good, but he loves crunchy stuff :-) I ended up taking the chicken liver back to the hotel along with a french baguette to snack on with a nightcap of bubbles. For dinner, we went to the basics: the Bistro Burger (brioche, steak, butter, dijonnaise, red onion relish, gruyere, vargo bros pickle) and my fave, the Croque Madame (baguette, mornay, smoked ham, sunny side up egg). Neither comes with fries, so we got one order to split. No complaints on either dish. For dessert, I got the ile flotation (duck egg white meringue, orange & cardamom creme anglaise, pineapples, candied hazelnuts & salted caramel). This is a wonderfully light dessert and that pineapple was so good as well as those candied hazelnuts. I ate as much as I could, but eventually the sweetness caught up with me. Again, not a criticism of the dessert, but I have a threshold on how much sweetness I can take. I would do this again but need to split with someone as I couldn't finish the whole thing. Having the bubbles to cut the sweetness helped. The Doctor got the Dark Coconut gelato. This was so interesting as the dark part was a dehydrated lime that was dark and grated over the gelato. The taste profile was strange in a good way: you could taste the zest of the lime, but it had an underlying dark flavor that hit my tongue like a cocoa flavor, but not really. Strange but delish. We are definitely going back because I saw the Steak Frites (8 oz prime flat iron and 16 oz prime, dry-aged ribeye). Both look great, but that ribeye was a huge piece of meat on the person's plate next to us. And I would love to try the Bouillabaisse. Because we had a large lunch, we were not trying to overdo it at dinner.Service was very nice. The executive chef actually brought out our appetizers and then stopped over to see how things were going. Everyone was friendly and seemed to be having a good time. There was a song playing and I started dancing in my seat. The gentlemen who initially greeted us coming into the restaurant saw me and started to dance a little as he walked by :-)Definitely want to come back here again. We heard that they will be open on Saturdays starting today, so that is good to know."
"Easiest 5 stars of my life, and honestly, I'd give them 6 if I could! Coquette really goes the extra mile, and they deserve to be recognized for that.Upon entry, you will be struck by the retro-barbie-core decor. It's funky, but modern- a perfect date spot or girls night spot. The happy hour specials are not to be missed. 12 oysters for $12! Unbeatable. My friend and I ordered 2 dozen and they were accompanied by the most delicious dipping sauce (possibly a shallot vinaigrette?). The dining experience was elevated by a complimentary bread service. Freshly baked rolls and a shallot butter. DELICIOUS! For our meal, we tried: Bavette (10 day aged steak) (tender and cooked to our liking with delicious accompanying shallot sauce), Sea Bass (paired with roasted veggies- so good), and Pomme Purée (which our server, Brendan described as 60% butter, 40% potatoes- and o.m.g. so worth it). To end the meal, we had a chocolate tarte. Lots of layers of varying chocolates, and topped with gold leaf! To drink, Brendan suggested Chenin Blanc because they were out of sauv blac, and I can say that I am now a Chenin Blanc girly. He also offered us an after dinner bev made from apple brandy and bubbles- loved it!!Next time, I want to try: Artichoke Carpaccio, Parisian Gnocchi, Steak Tartare, the Saint Jacques (scallops), and Entremet Cake for dessert. Overall, I LOVED this place. The decor and Instagram influencers brought me in, but the excellent staff and delicious food will make me a forever fan!"
"I came here for my birthday dinner with a big group of girls, and everything was outstanding! From the service to being so accommodating with my big group, it was perfect. We had some rounds of drinks- my smoke and spice cocktail, queen marie cocktail, and espresso martini were all very delicious and refreshing on this hot day. We started with French onion dip and cauliflower au gratin. Both were delicious shareables. I also had the gem salad, flat iron, and fries to share as my meal. Quality, taste, and portions were perfect. I also got a nice sweet cinnamon ice cream scoop with a sparkler for my birthday. Such a beautiful restaurant that lives to its high standard in west loop. It's difficult to come across trendy restaurants like this that do it this well for the price point!"
"A short 4 minute walk from my hotel, this quaint brasserie & raw bar was perfect for a night out with friends. We were able to catch the last part of happy hour. The space is perfect for brunch, lunch, dinner and also offers a rooftop bar. Check their website for times and special events. We ordered a few dozen oysters on a half shell. The oysters were very fresh, served with a classic mignonette and horseradish & cocktail sauce. It paired nicely with a couple chilled glasses of Rosé. We also couldn't pass up on the escargot, which bursting with garlic flavor, served with toasted baguette on the side. The Bandol Poutine served with their house gravy was also quite exquisite. I can put that gravy on anything and it would be good. Our server was pretty new to the place she said but she was pretty attentive even though she had quite a few tables to run. Happy hour was bustling on this night. I checked in on Yelp and got a free signature cocktail on this night. They also offer other specials like $1 oysters on Mondays."
"Went here for lunch with a friend. Indoor or outdoor seating available. Large additional room for overflow. Bakery with French desserts available as well as breads. Now let's get to food. We both had the French onion soup. Highly recommend. Baked mini crock, all the trimmings. I went with the savory ham and cheese crepes. (2). It came with choose of salad, which I had, fries or veggie. Dressing is the house Dijon oil/vinegar dressing. Delicious. My friend went with the croque missouire. Total with a drink was $30. I purchased some pastries for my dude. They were a little on the expensive side but homemade."
"We dined at Bar Parisette tonight. Service was excellent. The round leather booths are elegant and comfortable. Ask for one when you make your reservation. Chef Madalyn Durrant ran food to tables, which was nice because it provided the opportunity to compliment her on our favorite dishes. We ordered everything on the menu, except the chicken liver, the tartare, the lamb, and the burger. While everything was good and competently executed, the best items, which are truly exceptional, are:1) Carrot Salad (honey, coriander, honey, Moroccan olive)2) Sunchokes and wax bean salad with pollen 3) Halibut en Papillote with root vegetables 4) Roasted Chicken with carrot caramel 5) Soft Serve Ice Cream (salted vanilla/blueberry lavender twist) I liked the spaciousness of the restaurant, and there are some beautiful and fun design elements, like whimsical wallpaper, sparkly gold epoxy floors in the washroom, beautiful light fixtures, and those beautiful round leather booths. Many of the wines are a bargain, including $8 glasses that were uncommon and memorable. Matt Sussman made our evening extra special by sharing his wine knowledge. 2829 W Armitage Ave, Chicago"
"Haven't been here in MANY years, used to be one of my favorites. It still has the superb quality food as it did before. But the veteran waitstaff that once gave this place its excellence and charm is no longer. At least in our case, as we'd gotten a very young waiter. Though he was professional and adequate, he made no suggestions or offered no feedback as I overheard a waiter at a neighboring table doing. After hearing his descriptions, I wished I had ordered something else, though it was too late. Still, I was quite pleased with my selection. We don't make the kind of money to come to these kind of places as often as I'd like, so it is a rare treat to do so. And when such a visit is within our budget, I don't mind, for example, paying $30 for a silver dollar sized piece of foie gras (because I love it so much). But what I don't appreciate are the surprises at the end, such as a "Restaurant Surcharge" added to the bill. I would rather they build these fees into the price of their food than sticking it to us at the end of our meal so we can make our decisions upfront. For example, if the foie gras was priced at $32, maybe I would have ordered the oysters instead. And although I "had the last laugh" by simply deducting that amount from the tip, it still had a negative effect and took away some charm. Me cheating our waiter by what the restaurant cheated me doesn't make me feel any better or proud. The chef stopped by and chatted with us a bit, and that was really nice. But the whole experience seemed more forced and mechanical than relaxed and delightful as it once was."
"Fig & Olive is a beautiful restaurant, with a warm interior and comfy seating. I would note that it's a bit dark. I made a reservation two weeks in advance for a weekday dinner and was surprised by the empty restaurant. So, I can't really say if a reservation is needed at all. However, we were quickly seated and the staff were very friendly. To jump right into food, we ordered the crostinis for appetizer. We decided to try all three options, which wasn't the best idea. The caramelized onion crostini was a lump of cold, caramelized onion on a crostini - refer to photo. It was just too much onion. The onion was way too overpowering and I couldn't taste the goat cheese. The tomato and burrata crostini was much more pleasant: fresh, light, and the perfect amount of pesto. The favorite was definitely the prosciutto and fig crostini - blend of flavors with the cheese and jam and textures with the almonds. I recommend the latter two crostinis and skipping the onion one! Fig and Olive have the BEST fries! It was so fragrant of rosemary and the perfect amount of parmesan and salt for flavor. They were perfectly fried as well. They were generous with the amount of fries! Highly recommend! For the entrees, I had my heart set on the branzino as soon as I saw the menu. And it was absolutely amazing. However, it was small in size for the price. The fennel, potatoes and kale were a nice addition to the branzino. I'm not sure what was in it, but the sauce was delicious. I don't think the branzino alone will be filling, but I would recommend this entree! From the chef's favorites menu, we ordered the Amalfi seafood risotto. We also loved this entree. There was plenty of seafood and risotto in the dish, and on its own can be very filling. The sauce was bold and flavorful. We thought the branzino and risotto paired well. Overall, the food was 10/10 minus the onion crostini. The portion sizes are small for the price, but everything tasted amazing,"
"My son and I came on quiet Tuesday night. There were only few tables being occupied, as expected for a midweek dinner. The place is small and cozy inside with a lot of French decor. Their service was great. Very friendly staff and our food came out quick. We ended up sharing a their Croque Madame and their La Classique crepe. The Croque Madame was really delicious. It came with toasted ham, Swiss cheese and topped with a perfectly fried egg and served with fries. The Classique Crepe was just as delicious. I've had plenty of crepes before but these were different. Some parts of the crepe were crispy which was definitely something new. You can never go wrong with Nutella and bananas. Overall we kept it simple and quick and they delivered. I was surprised on how full I got just by sharing and wouldn't hesitate returning here to try out some of their other offerings."
