THE BEST HOLE-IN-THE-WALL MEXICAN RESTAURANT IN MIDTOWN!It's one of those places where you walk in and think "is this a restaurant or someone's living room?" Service was quick and always standing by ready for that refill or next round. The food? Unbelievable. Cilantro/corn tortilla birria tacos so good they make you wonder if you've been eating cardboard all these years oh and the salsa has a kick that'll make you question all your life choices. Then they bring out these mini Don Julio bottles. It's like they're saying "enjoy your tequila, but let's not get carried away now!" Like, am I here to drink or am I here to play with action figures. It's the only place where you can get a big flavor and a tiny buzz all at once.

This place is much more than just another content shoot, the food is DELICIOUS, the staff are very sweet and helpful, it's great for groups and the family and you'll feel like you've gone to another country once inside our out in their patio.Disclaimer: it's a little pricey. It was two of us and I'm not sure how we spent $98 lol but maybe that was with a 22% tip, can't remember but I do remember having a great time and that's priceless. We ordered:- Horchata Agua Fresca (huge pitcher size so definitely shareable)- Pepino Agua Fresca (these are $10+ fyi)- Chips and Guacamole. Very tasty but we didn't need more chips so I would opt out of it next time.- 6 Birria Tacos (half goat, half res). The consume and fixings were exactly what I needed.- Mocktail Don't remember the name of the Mocktail but they'll come around asking if you'd like this cocktail that they make in front of you which normally has tequila in it, fresh orange juice, Squirt and other things but we got it without alcohol and OMG IT WAS SO GOOD! I'm sure it would've been delicious with tequila in it as well but we weren't wanting it at that moment. Super refreshing and fun to watch them make it! Maybe this is what racked up that bill lol.Overall, it's so worth coming but definitely some things are shareable like them drinks so keeping that in mind for the next time!

First things first, the parking here sucks. There's a strip parking lot but there's other businesses on the lot so you're out of luck if it's full, you have to find street parking. Secondly, for how mediocre the food is this place is super busy. There's no reservation, no waitlist, you just have to wait your turn outside. The inside of the restaurant itself is HOT and humid. It's basically like you're sitting outside. I came in on a date and by the end of it we were both practically dripping in sweat. All that being said, the worst part by far is the food. I've had birria from a bunch of different places; homemade, food stands, food trucks, sit down restaurants. Good birria is good birria regardless of whether you get a quesabirria, a birria gordita, taco, birria ramen, etc. We ordered birria ramen just to play it safe and because it sounded pretty good. It was $16.99 and we maybe got 4 pieces of birria each. The ramen was spicy because it was tapatío flavored but the birria had absolutely no flavor. It was chewy and unappetizing. We ended up taking more than half of it home just to not waste the food. For $16.99 just go buy the $2 ramen at the grocery store and make the birria yourself it's probably cheaper and would taste better. The star of our meal was the pineapple agua fresca. Would I, in good faith, recommend this place? Probably not. It wasn't even worth taking a cute picture.

This place has gone through changes since I was there 14 years ago. They had more cabanas and it was newer looking. Its now decorated with pics of Frida Khalo and plastic flowers. Its colorful and cute. It does have an old smell when you walk in kind of like old moo water. That scent is throughout the inside of the restaurant. We chose to sit outside. The breeze on the day we went was great. Our waiter was very nice but didn't really understand English. We pointed to the pinarita but it didn't look the same. It tasted like a sweet drink with tequila. The menu is in Spanish so unless you are familiar with the food in the native language its hard to understand what you're getting. The food was ok. I probably wont return. But its possible I will because its like a cute hole in the wall. I think the prices should be cheaper for the quality of food and drink.

It doesn't matter what Pueblito you're from, if you're not visiting El Pueblito de Frida, you're playing yourself. Whether it's the Birria or the Piña Rita, they bring the heat bruh! Stepping in, I was transported to the Caribbean Coast of Mexico. I almost started to Salsa down the floor on my way to chips and salsa. It wasn't Easter but I was feeling like a Bad Bunny sitting outside on the breezy patio underneath a cabana. Our server Carlos was on point with the service! Drinks and food came out in rapid succession. Chips and salsa? Check! Agua Fresca de Melon/Limonada mixed? Check! Mexican Candy ( alcohol drink)? Check! Piña Rita? Check! Extra Vodka and Tequila? Check! Chicos y Chicas, I was feeling myself by the time the food came out. Birria tacos de res (beef)? On point! Birria Verdes de borrego (lamb)? On point! Birriaquiles Molcajete with beef? On point! Only thing I could even kind of criticize is the consome but not really. The beef consome was a tad light for me but the lamb consome hit hard with the chickpeas in it. All this food and I didn't leave anything on my plato. The vibe here is a fiesta, so if you're in the mood for a party with good food and good drinks, roll thru and find out!P.S. Pro tip: The staff is very diverse but everyone I spoke to spoke Spanish, so if you speak español, flex your skills.

This used to be my favorite place when the cabanas were nice . Now they let them looked bad. They did renovated the patio which looked better but the place has been run down compared to before.Food was good but service was too slow. Took 40min for the food to come when the restaurant wasn't busy at lunch. When order drinks the server just decided to upsale and didn't ask if we want small or larger size. Don't feel too comfortable with that. They now add Frida name on used to be el pueblito.

Party of three went in for lunch today. Seated promptly. Chips and salsa brought out promptly. From there it was a disaster. After about 8-9 minutes, no one had come over. We flagged a server down and told her we were ready to order. She told us our server would be over shortly and walked away. Another minute or so went by and we flagged down someone else. A gentleman who looked like he may have been a manager, told him we were waiting to order. He walked away and had a conversation with 3 people, they looked like they were trying to figure out some sort of algebraic equation. Another person who may have been a manager then came over and told us someone would be there shortly. Finally a server came over, walked right by us, and went to the table right behind us where people had just sat down. At that point it had been nearly 20 minutes so we got up and left.

What an adorable patio and wonderfully friendly staff! I saw a video about this place on Instagram and was excited to try it. My bf and I went on a Wednesday evening, around 7 and there weren't very many people there. We sat outside, in an elevated gazebo with sheer curtains, fairy lights, and a ceiling fan. It was very romantic and we felt very special. There was a woman making green tortillas outside on a gridle and we got to see them lower a HUGE pot full of birria into an underground fire pit to cook for 48-hours. It was really cool. The menu isn't huge but there are many options. They specialize in birria and make it with goat and lamb, as well as beef. I got the goat and it was meltingly soft and bursting with flavor. I got it on some chilaquiles in red sauce. They make their chilaquiles the way I love it - every chip soaked in sauce and a healthy amount of birria and crema on top. It was DELICIOUS. My bf got a jumbo quesadilla with the lamb birria. It was also super good. We had some of their fresh aguas. I had the lime and it was so refreshing and not too sweet. He got the horchata and really loved it. It had just the right amount of cinnamon and sugar. We didn't try any of the alcoholic drinks but they looked really good. I am going to make it a regular spot when I want some good Mexican food and definitely a first stop when friends visit Houston!

The food was tasted and was presented like having tacos at the park on a hot summer day. We had the birria verdes and the birria ramen. The food was served poorly. Why is the birria ramen in a ramen bowl that I could buy in the store? Service was terrible as the place had zero air flow there. The kitchen is in right of where people are sitting and it was so hot. They had air conditioners that weren't turned on. People began to complain and we see the inside was 85 degrees. The ambiance of the place was like eating in a very local spot, run down. However the back was nice but still very hot. Presentation of the place was so different from the actual food. We talked to one of the employees who made us Paloma's but she didn't know exactly what she was making. We saw how humble she was though and tried to include tip for her and we find out they don't actually tip her. How terrible.
