The restaurant is African Caribbean cuisine. I'm usually skeptical about the service at African restaurants because it's usually subpar but Kobams really out here with the service ! We were the only dine in customers (which is normal for an African restaurant) they have indoor and outdoor seating and an area for a band ( excited for that once corona is "over").Their website is very easy to navigate if you want to order online . Food was hot a freshhhhhhhhh! And authentic we orderedAppetizer : Jerk wings - delicious !!! My husband wanted to order a second round but I was like naw I need space for the main meal Husband meal: ogbono soup , fufu, grilled tilapia his food was pulling hot very fresh and tasted just like my step mom use to make I was so impressed because it's hard to get authentic ogbono soup without just going to someone's house ! My meal: jollof rice, goat meat ,And plantain . Food was also delicious . I devoured it and the goat meat was soft!!! So they cooked it right. Flavors was just popping! Todd M. "This is a small Vietnamese karaoke lounge / restaurant. They open around 4pm and go till 2am every day. The bar is a bit cramped but they have plenty of tables to sit at. If you do sit at the bar your back is to the stage. Have not tried much to any of the food but it looks very good. Drink options are limited to mainstream beer and cocktails. If they have wine its probably the same limited options. Better to come with a group than solo but it can be done either way. The music was insanely loud when I went at night during prime time. Literally, my friends water bottle vibrated off the bar. Not sure why it needs to be so loud for such a small place but it's annoying. Will probably give this place another couple tries and see what happens."

Food took over 1 1/2 hours (chicken wings and chicken tenders). Hookah was listed as one price and I was told another after it was ordered. They have a lot of things to work on. I'd probably never come back even if they fixed everything."

The food was just okay. We were a party of 4 and all of our food didn't come out at the same time. When my food finally came out it was cold. They fixed it but still it was cold initially. The biggest drawback is the 20% SERVICE CHARGE that is added no matter the size of the party and you are expected to tip on top of this. The worse part is that the service charge isn't disclosed ahead of time you have to review your bill on the handheld or ask for a paper copy of your receipt but by that time you've already paid the fee. The steak egg rolls are delicious! The DJ played a good selection of music and according to my friend's the hookah was "fire". Would definitely recommend trying it but be aware of the undisclosed service charge!!"

Jason B. "Loved Behind Closed Doors! This was a fun spot on a Friday night downtown. Obviously, a great vibe and instagram worthy esthetic. The "hidden bar-Speakeasy" The Gold room, was nice and a more intimate place to relax with a drink. High end liquors, nice bar tenders but the drink was about an 8/10. It was good but nothing special or that stood out about them. $38 for an Old Fashioned and a Sidecar, tip is automatically applied and that's fine. I appreciate them pointing that out. Main bar with all the fun lights and retro feel is a lot of fun as well and also has some smaller food options which was needed at this point. We got the dip which was supposed to have caviar but definitely didn't but was still good. We also got the Wagyu hot dog which was actually really good! The star of the night for me was the drink my wife and I both ordered "Burn After Reading" it was sweet, sour, smoky and spicy. A really incredible drink! Again, tip is included and drinks are less expensive at the front bar. If you leave the tab open it follows you throughout the venue- a nice touch. All in all, it was a lot of fun and a great start to our night. Would definitely come back especially when entertaining friends from out of town."

Tenia O. "I've been here plenty times over the years & can say it's truly ok. Cute, tropical decor. Indoor and outdoor seating. I really like the swings at the tables & large sitting area outback with the bed/lounge chairs. The DJ's are usually pretty good. Playing a nice mix, but some times the music is too loud. To where you can't hear anyone at all. And this coming from a chic who blasts music, so it takes a lot for something to be too loud.Nice selection of beer on tap & bottled. Mixed drinks are good too. Prices are about the same for what you get in the area. They've got a good rotation of food trucks that service the joint & most have been tasty. Anything from crawfish, tacos, to bbq has been on deck. And some I think are a bit overpriced, but hey comes with the location/territory. So you see this & like hey what's up with the 3 stars? Wellll IMO Tikila's is like a 3.5, but not truly 4. The reason I say this is because the service. Its just been very sporadic. I've gone plenty times solo, +1 or even a larger group & service has been all over the place. With a larger group where I would've expected poorer service our waitress was awesome. She checked up on us, fixed an issue with my friend's drink w/o attitude & bartenders were hilarious. On another day I was solo & basically got ignored. My most recent visit there were only 3 of us. We planned to stay a bit & others were coming to join us. Sat inside due to a large party outback. Our waitress was pretty rude. Took our initial order & after that she walked past us like we weren't even there. IDK if because we weren't slamming the drinks back & running up a $200 tab in the 1st 30 minutes or what, but she wasn't pleasant at all. We ended up ordering 1 more round at the bar ourselves & then left. I still enjoy this place but would visit more if the service was better. I still recommend it for a spot to just chill & enjoy a good drink. Just pack your patience. Yelp on my friends!"

That's not an insult I promise, I love a good ole hole in the wall bar that is comfortable and laid back. The bartender was very attentive to us even while she was busy running the bar alone, she even brought us some drinks while we were playing a game of pool(I won). The dj Charlie I believe is his name, was extra friendly as he asked us for a song request...I told him to play something by randy Travis and to my amazement he didn't gawk at me, he did however play Digging up bones which apparently everyone in the bar was also a fan of. The music wasn't too loud this time but I know when they have live performances it's way louder than I can handle. Mostly everyone was playing darts inside and nothing else was going on outside probably because it's just too damn hot for that. The biggest complaint is the parking lot, it's got some big craters or pot holes, call it what you want but just drive really slow. I don't think they have a kitchen serving food but I could be wrong. I will be back in the fall"

Located in the Montrose neighborhood, The Flat caters to all. Every time I've been, the crowd is diverse, and that ranges across all ages, race, geographic location and gender identity. It's free to get in and there's plenty of street parking available. There's a Caribbean food truck out front and a guy who makes wings on the outdoor patio. I enjoy being out on the patio because there's plenty seating and you get to converse with other party goers and meet great people. It's also a breath of fresh air to go out in Houston and not have to deal with valet, entry fee or sections."

Jim B. "Our first time here. Previous YELP reviews very mixed. We went tonight for Valentine's Day , fixed price menu. Great cocktails to start and we did a bottle of a very nice Petit Chablis. There were some other nice choices on a small wine list. The first flight, not shown was a sushi flight which we both had. My only complaint there was that i did not noice the wagyu beef which i cannot eat and which not normally on. Sushi flight, traded for th yellowtail with my wife so not big deal. Good quality sushi, no soy sauce needed thank you.I followed with Salmon and my wife had Chateaubriand. I did the passion fruit and my wife did a strawberry sorbet. NiceWait staff great, they seemed to know well the frequent diners (not us) and the decor was modern and a nice match with the not modern music. Good, mixed crowd. Not sure how much mix from an artificial v-day mix (ah, that would be us). Hint. We took the very very uncool 6pm seating , but heck, we got seated on time. When we left at 8:30 pm or so, the line was very long with people waiting for their much cooler 7-8pm seatings. We were not chased out and frankly the kitchen backed up anyway. It's V-day, cancellations are very low and this sort of things happen. I think if i had one of those ultra-cool 8pm seatings and waited 60min for my table I would have killed a star or two. There is no 'wait bar' , it is a line out to the parking lot. They need to rethink that form a cash standpoint. We also went a week later, to see what it was like on a non holiday Friday night. Obviously better menu though portions a bit too large. No change to the review. Pricy, but good food, great waitstaff in a fun environment. We also did the 6pm seating to avoid the chance of a wait but that was a bit paranoid. 7pm would have been fine."

Instead, her group started verbally harassing us, and the ladies in our group couldn't help but to return fire. Note that the other group consist of 2 Caucasian males, 3 middle eastern chicks, and 1 Asian chick, while our group was a good 8 guys strong (all Asians). Throwing aside the fact that they were outnumbered, I was baffled that the ladies didn't give a F they were in CHINAtown while hurling racist insults at us lol. Agogo is much cleaner than Friend's or Yes KTV, with much better equipment. Benefit of it being a brand new establishment, and I hope they keep up the cleanliness. Rooms are spacious and the system is easy to use. Song selection is relatively up to date. Prices are pretty reasonable when you go with a large group and split the costs. If you purchase enough food and drinks, then it will pay for the room (I wouldn't really consider going to a place that doesn't have this option). Bottles are around $100, and if you can't finish them all, they are nice enough to hold it for you until the next time you come by. Downside is that they charge you $19 per person to sit in the general public area, even if you buy drinks and food. And they charge you for bringing boba in, even though we would purchase 3 bottles + food every time... Can't you just let us sing and enjoy boba at the same time??#215"

Vlad V. "Fellas, if you want to impress a lady, dinner at Brenner's is an awesome place to go. Brenner's is an upscale steakhouse located on the bayou with as picturesque of a view as you're going to get in Houston. I've been on a date there once and they have open windows throughout the restaurant so you can see the bayou and the hills of grass. Attached to the restaurant is a trendy bar called Blue. I went to Blue for a networking event and they have happy hour from 5-7 PM. Their signature cocktails are $7 and beer is cheaper. I had several cocktails including a Southern Tea (Firefly vodka, tea, etc.) and a Pear Martini. There is a bar, several tables, and lounge seats. If you're in the sitting area, there are waitresses to take your order or there are some seats at the bar. They also have a good amount of food on the happy hour consisting of apps, skewers, and oyster shooters for the most part. I went with the Mongolian beef skewers and the parmesan fries. The skewers were flavorful, you get three of them, but they were relatively small. On the other hand, the portion size for the parmesan fries was generous so two items off the happy hour menu was more than enough for me. This is an expensive spot so you're getting a great deal during happy hour. Our waitress, Raven, was awesome. She's been working at Blue for 6 months but it seemed like she had been working there for years. She checked up on us frequently and always when our drinks were running on empty. We had good conversation with her, she's really friendly. When we moved to a table, she still stopped by to check up on us. Once the sun goes down, blue lights come on and it now becomes clear why it's called Blue.Parking is valet only ($5) but there's some limited parking on the streets right outside of the restaurant. The only downside minus valet? Blue is outside. I was coming straight from work so I was wearing dress clothes and it's June which means I was definitely sweating. Come July and August might be a little unbearable. Even though they have fans, it's not enough unless you're sitting in the perfect spot."

I observed two reviews from some local "Karens" who complained the staff at the locations did not wear masks and did not require anyone else to wear masks (mandates that are not required in the county). One of the "Karens" even said the place was "like going into a pre-covid time warp", which sounded perrrrfect to me. All of the other reviews were all 5 stars. So, due to the 5 star reviews, and because of the local "Karens" informing everyone the place doesn't require masks, I decided to take a family trip to the location. The place was great. We walked in with no ridiculous mask hassle and we're seated right away. We ordered drinks and some food. Of course, the kids got soft drinks, but the wife got a pineapple mimosa. It tasted like a dry Champaign was used which was perfect with the sweet pineapple juice. I had an IPA, which was great, if you're into that type of beer.We ordered "Brunch Pizza". The pizza was delicious. Essentially, it was pizza topped with bunch items that included over easy egg. Awesome. One of my chillins got a hamburger that tasted like a ribeye steak grilled over charcoal. Super awesome. The other chillin got a sandwich with fries. The sandwich was excellent, but my God, the fries were very, very good. Thin sliced and crispy. Like a cross between a French fry and a potato chip. Loved those. I got smoked salmon on baguette with cream cheese and capers. Incredible. The salmon tasted like it was smoked Texas BBQ style. Unusual but delicious. Food was excellent. Service was excellent. No covid garbage was excellent. If you are looking for a small business to support, where you can take your family without hearing a word about current politically driven, business killing, freedom limiting, life ruining junk about how YOU need to obey thine ruler, this is the place for you.
