Talia C. "Yummy Korean bakery! Excellent textures. The customer service is confusing. When me & my daughter came in, the bakery case was empty (but their rolling pastry carts were full). The door was open but no one appeared to be inside other than a woman laying down talking on the phone. After a couple minutes I asked her if the bakery was open and she said yes. So then I figured out she worked there. Nothing was labeled so I asked her for her suggestions and she selected a Bavarian cream bun which was delicious, and a white bean pastry which we liked but a little less. It did have a nice subtle flavor though. The more questions I asked the friendlier the woman became. At the end I realized though that she wasn't wearing a mask (during COVID) when she moved a mask on the counter to the side so I could sign my receipt. A little unsettling since my 6 year old isn't vaccinated yet. But the pastries are good. So I would go back without my kid."

I never liked mooncakes growing up but having a fresh one was honestly perfection. It was sweet without being overwhelming and the salted egg yolks gave that salty contrast. I loved it, and it's gonna be on my list for my next trip to Chicago!"

I have tried different ones but some of my favorite are pina colada, strawberry and caramel. They also have cake slices, so you can have different flavors. The place is a little too pink, but I come here for the cake not the decor. La France Bakery. Best tres leches cakes in the south west."

I like the fact that they bake all their goods on site. With their open kitchen you can see what they are about, and its a very clean place. If your in the mood for maranitos (pig shaped pastries with guava or sweet potato filling), although they are really good though I must admit. I always tell my mom "I don't like pastries" but when i get home, low and behold I want one. They have quite a bit of variety of these delicious treats if your in the mood. Although nothing fancy, they offer a little bit of Mexico for all. Sweet and satisfying, and made fresh all day."

You place your order and pay at a kiosk with a card (they are a cashless establishment). Someone calls out your name and hands you your order once it is ready. We snagged a table in the colorfully cozy cafe, as well as cups of ice water. My love and I split a pain au chocolat, and it was hard to divide into two as it was deliciously flaky without being too sweet."

They have all sorts of European sweets as well as donuts, eclairs, and American fare. The first think that caught my eye was the paczkis, stuffed donuts with fillings like apricot, blueberry, rose hip, raspberry, and fresh strawberry. The fresh strawberry one ($2.99) was amazing, like a strawberry shortcake. The pastry itself was light and crisp on the outside, and the filling and cream was perfectly sweet. So, so, good!Note that they do have a $5 minimum to use card. Just buy more paczkis!"

Joe C. "I've passed by this place a few times and just had something random and large from the Brown elephant down the street (today it was an air popcorn popper) but wow I had no idea about the supermarket. I grew up in a neighborhood with a large Mediterranean and Middle Eastern, so when I walked back I found the spices intoxicating. Then they have some cheeses I love that I used to use daily but haven't seen honestly in a decade. Pretty cool. We headed to the front to place our order, a veggie combo and a Beef/lamb shawarma. They have a open kitchen and counter service. We took a table near the counter. It's great to see the plated dishes come out fresh and smell the aromatics in the air. Our food came out in a decent ten minutes. The meat was slice to a perfect thickness and cooked to give a nice gradation of doneness with nice caramelization. The hummus was tasty and fresh with herbs, I honestly didn't take note of the ingredients but dug in. Had a nice tanginess. Everything was delicious well portioned and reasonable priced. Service was great. Explained all the veggie options pulled out examples. I mean I definitely going back especially to the shop in the back. I mean they're really stocked well. Lots of goods made on site too."

One guy at the bar was eating a giant burger that looked fantastic. The bakery case in the back was filled with beautiful sweets. There was also a croissant case at the front. We tried pistachio cookies and a plain croissant. They were both delicious. We took everything to go after chatting it up with the manager Andre. On my next visit, I brought a different friend. This time we sat at the bar to enjoy our sweets and coffee. Everything was just as tasty this time around.Andre was working again that day and was just as charming with his beautiful Italian accent. At Dolci Amori, we would expect nothing less. We each picked out something different and Andre split them between us on our little plates as if he knew we would be sharing. It was a sweet touch.I plan on being a regular at this location, even though I live near the Gold Coast spot. The interior feels like stepping into Jasmine's castle from the Disney movie, adding a touch of magic to the ambiance. For our appetizer, we ordered the Hummus with Pastirma, which was delicious. I chose the Chicken Shish Kebab for my main course, and it was incredibly flavorful. It was honestly a bit overwhelming to choose. I'm not sure I got the best items but I tried to get an assortment for the family. Everything was very cheap and you honestly can't get a better deal than this place. I think I paid about 6-7 dollars for all of this and each item is huge! The Cookie Monster cupcake was just adorable. It got slightly messed up on the trip home but I loved the design, great for a kids birthday party. I was surprised the flavor of the cupcake was actually lemon rather than vanilla and chocolate. It was unique and refreshing. The bread items were sweet and had lots of sugar on top, perfect for that sweet tooth. I will say a lot of the items were fairly dry, like the cupcakes and various bread items but I did go later in the day so they may be fresher in the morning. Now let's talk cookies... my favorite was the rainbow sugar cookie! As the name of the location mentions, the cookies WILL crumble. We ate them over the course of three days, they never dried out and stayed perfectly moist (we did move them to the fridge after a day and kept them in an airtight container).Banana can get easily lost when you add other flavors in, but the luscious brown butter frosting complemented the just ripe banana flavor very nicely. The tiramisu was the right balance of cupcake to marscapone frosting. It's not an overly strong coffee flavor, and the cocoa dusting isn't too much (meaning you don't cough after a mouthful of powder).I also cannot stand those cupcake places out there with the mile-high frosting (like they're trying to hide their poor cake quality), that is definitely not the case here, the proportions are perfectly delicious. This was my first time here so I wasn't entirely sure what to expect. The pastries were pretty much gone, only a corn macaron and some jam cookie, lots of bread, the big sandwich and the specialty sandwiches which are made to order I guess. I ended up ordering approx. 1/2 lb of the big sandwich and the Jambon Beurre sandwich...a whopping $30. Missed the sign that says they include 3% hospitality supplement and tipped $2 on top. Which I regret given I ended up having to wait, no joke, 25 mins for the Jambon Beurre. There was one person ringing people up and one person making / cutting sandwiches. Not the least bit efficient when there's a line of people waiting. The sandwich breads were good, but rest was just fine. Not what I was expecting after 25 minutes and $32, whomp whomp. I'd come back in the morning for pastries and maybe a $10+ loaf of bread but I'm out on the sandwiches...I'll go to Tempesta instead."

Nhu Lan is pretty much like ordering food on a street in Vietnam. Maybe not exactly, but the foods tastes like it sure came from it. There's also bubble teas and shakes on the menu along with a banh mi or whatever kind of sandwich. Came in to pick up carryout. It's seriously the only option. This place would be too small to have dine in anyway, so whatever. It's about $8 for a bubble tea or any other drink. The best looking one was the Black Bean Coconut Che Dau Den, and this tasted as good as it looked. It turned out it actually tasted like it was chocolatey. This was also made with coconut milk and tapioca. As for the banh mi, there were quite a few vegan choices. It's about $10 for a sandwich. The best sounding one was the Vegan Ginger Tofu. It was a pretty good size and it had a little spice to it. The tofu was interesting with it being more of a cheesesteak texture. Good flavor. This was actually pretty filling for just this one thing. If you're going at daytime, I highly recommend the outdoor seating to enjoy the summer weather. The staff were super friendly and service was great. The menu is small, portions are small, and prices are on the higher end for what you get. Each dish is unique and creative - taking the traditional dishes and adding an interesting twist. For two people, we ordered the chili crab noodles, chicken skewers, and crispy short ribs. Everything was absolutely delicious. * Surprisingly, the grilled chicken skewers were my favorite. They were very well cooked and tender, combined with the cashew butter, savory mushroom oil, and crispy sunchokes. It was a burst of flavors and textures in each bite! Easily 5 out of 5* The short ribs were crispy on the outside yet tender on the inside, and so well marinated. The japchae served with the short ribs also had bits of pineapple, which added an unexpected sweetness to the dish. This dish was a bigger amount of food compared to the other two we ordered. * The chili crab noodles were great, but my least favorite. It was more of a crab dish as there was a very small amount of noodles in the dish. There were strawberries with the chili sauce, which was an interesting combination. It was a light and refreshing dish. I highly recommend checking out Girl & the Goat! The food is sooooo good, but be prepared for the small portions."
