Ade B. "I first went to Locust Rendezvous around 20 years ago. My memory of it was as a mediocre dive bar. My recent visits to "The Vous" have shown me that it is much more than that now. It's a great bar that you can count on for good drinks, fast service, and consistently good food. It doesn't matter how packed the place is. You can count on those three things. With TVs from wall to wall, any sporting event you want to watch will be on one of the TVs. My go-to food has become the turkey reuben. It's a delicious top-tier sandwich in a city full of great sandwiches. My go-to drink is the pomegranate mule, a great take on the moscow mule. I've tried a handful of items from the menu at this point, and everything is good. You can't beat the prices there either. "The Vous" has earned a regular spot in my bar rotation."

Tiffany T. "Myself and a couple of friends came by last Tuesday for dinner. This was my first visit to this establishment. My first impression when walking in, is that the space is very cute, warm and inviting. Our server was very personable, explained the menu and portion sizes well and gave us recommendations on both food and drinks when we were stuck between a few options. The airline chicken was perfectly cooked, still juicy on the inside and well seasoned. The gorgonzola mac and cheese is packed with a punch, a delicious twist to mac especially if you love that gorgonzola flavor. The only thing I would comment on, is that both dishes were a bit heavy on the salt for me - but just barely. I didn't have any cocktails or wine, so I can't comment on that. Overall, I wouldn't hesitate to return if I was in the area."

The huevos rancheros came with jalapeños, sour cream, hash browns, tomatoes, and carrots. Definitely like how they used hash browns instead of the typical tortilla chip! The Tuscan Omelet was very cheesy. I loved how I could substitute fruit for the fries; however, I wish they would give more of a quantity of fruit. Overall, the food was fairly priced and the service was great!"

Roger K. "We missed the breakfast offered at our hotel, so we searched Yelp for something not far away and saw Nudy's and one other place on Bridge Street. The other place did not appear to be open so we ended up at Nudy's. It turned out to be a good omen.We were seated promptly about 10:30am. The menu is extensive with breakfast being served all day. We started with coffee, $2.99/cup, with refills. My wife ordered the Salmon Florentine ($15.99) - two poached eggs, with spinach and salmon topped with hollandaise sauce, served on an English muffin with home fries. She did not care for the hollandaise sauce and thought the home fries could have spent more time on the griddle getting crisped.I ordered the Farmer's omelet ($12.99) - I don't know how many eggs, but it seemed like more than two, with ham, sausage, peppers, onions, and bacon. It came with a side of home fries, and I chose to add raisin toast for an upcharge of $.35. I agree with my wife that the home fries would have been more to our liking if they were crispier. The toasted raisin bread was very good. It was thickly sliced and flavorful. I also enjoyed my omelet, but I can't say it was outstanding. After reading another reviewer's comment, I do feel obliged to comment that the men's restroom was very clean. I did find it very difficult to connect with Yelp while sitting inside. Initially, my search only found Nudy's - Audubon, so checked in there by mistake."

So much to love here: the food, the atmosphere and vibes, bright sunlight, open windows in the summer, and space to spread out.I have enjoyed the yogurt parfait and greek bowl with chicken. They also have really nice egg-based breakfast and brunch options. There is typically a sign in front that denotes whether or not there is service or if you're supposed to order at the bar and sit. There is occasionally bugs flying around and I sometimes wish the market selection was a bit bigger (I think it used to be?) but ultimately it wouldn't be that convenient of a location for me to bop by for specialty items anyways. Pop in for a unique hostess gift, thought! Bottle of wine, etc. Also coffee!Always look forward to my next Tela's trip and appreciate this gem of a spot for existing."

Gerald S. "Located in the former Chicken Holiday space in the old Middletown Shopping Center, Hubba Hubba is a sub/sandwich/pizza shop using Dietz & Watson provisions and decent rolls and bread for their deli delights. There are a few tables up front, but this is mainly a takeout operation for breakfast and lunch. I was there to satisfy a craving for homemade tuna salad in a torpedo roll, with provolone, tomato, lettuce, hot peppers, and touches of oil, vinegar and mayo. I ate back at my desk in the office. As I unwrapped the zoftig sandwich, I realized is was big enough for two meals, and also sloppy from the liquids leaking out on both ends. Remedied with paper towel underneath, I enjoyed a satisfying first bite from the cool tuna, cheese and trimmings and saw that it was worth what at first appeared to be an exorbitant price ($13+) for a simple sub. Not so bad for two meals, however. Service was pleasantly provided by the ponytailed dude behind the counter, who worked quickly as he spread, scooped, sprinkled, compressed and cut that baby in two. The man had skills. The shop seemed a bit thrown together and unkempt, which might concern the health inspector, but not me. I chowed down half and rewrapped the rest for the trip home. It was messy, so I decided to place it in the empty large coffee cup from this morning in order to save my clothes and car from olive leakage. It fit perfectly with the top on. I think maybe I'm on to something with this carry away packaging!3.5 Stars"

Meredith B. "This restaurant is, quite frankly, the epitome of charming. The decor is clearly done by hand, the painted stenciling slightly askew, the front window a darling mishmash of brocade and little sparkling candle-lamps and the odd hookah. A large mirror on the far wall stands like some magic portal in the back of a slightly chintzy bazaar, lending an airiness to the room along with the natural light from the wide front window. We were greeted by the proprietor, who learned all of his cooking from his mother and now shares the kitchen with his wife. Determined to ensure every visitor is treated to a flawless experience, he brought bottles of water and then proceeded to tour us through the menu, giving sound advice indeed on where to begin (and to end) the meal. Chatty and teasing, he is wonderful to talk to, but also knows when to vanish again and let you enjoy your food. And you Will.Sweet heaven. The caliber of the food brought to our table is far higher than a glance at the tables on the patio or the slightly drippy geometric patterns on the wall prepares you for. The plating was frankly lovely, and the flavours were absolutely to die for, from the lemony, garlicky eggplant to the sizzling, olive-studded chicken tagine. I came looking specifically for the pastilla, and the cinnamon-and-sugar-dusted, chicken and almond-stuffed pastry did not disappoint. Ultimately, the three of us could not finish everything, so a few scraps of leftovers, and a significant amount of baklava got packaged to go home. I recommend it, honestly, let the experience last as long as you can.So- We live hours south of this precious little place with its long couches and little round bolster pillows, but we Will be back. I'm sure I can find some sort of excuse in the area to make my way back up again, and bring friends. A significant portion of the menu is vegetarian, even, including nearly all of the appetizers (just get the mezze platter), and several other options including a tagine and a falafel gyro. There are also fish options for those who are pescatarian. And for full inclusiveness, it's wheelchair accessible as well."

It still looked very cool. ordered two slices and the wait wasn't long. The pizza had some thick pepperoni on it with a slight charred crust with a dash of pizza grease. Just how I like it. Sometimes I'm in the mood for fancy pizza, and then I just want some quality greasy pizza. The best part was just hearing the owners story of how he owned another pizza shop in the neighborhood that didn't work out, but he worked hard to recoup and open the current one. Gerald S. "Rocky's on E. Glenside Avenue is a dive breakfast joint that has been slinging hash for many decades in the old business section of town. It has tons of authentic atmosphere with counter service for three stools and five booths tucked in the rear of the store. Most customers appear to be regulars, and the staff is downhome friendly. I sat at the counter overlooking the grill, deep fryer and toasters. My mug O' joe was hot and strong and refilled upon request. The Challah French Toast was okay, but not much effort was put into placement on the plate, needing some reorganization before it could be buttered and syruped. Industrial corn sweetener (Smuckers) also downgraded the result. Taste was average at best, requiring more vanilla, cinnamon sugar in the egg mix to really bring up the flavor to where it should have been. The three strips of bacon were a decent side. Prices were as dated as the shop, making for affordable nostalgia. Rocky's is an eat and run joint, where you have to love the aging facility and folks that frequent it and call it home, to really appreciate what it has to offer. While I got all that and enjoyed the conversations, I couldn't help but notice how much more it could be with a little more effort. Add some TLC and a review of recipes, and this place could be terrific without changing the obvious charm and historic feel. Rocky's is old Philadelphia all the way!"

Order at the counter, watch the solitary worker prepare and package your meal, and then cashier you out. There are a half dozen stools along two window shelves for those who prefer to eat while the food is at its apex taste, but for the vast majority of costumers, walking away bag in hand is the better choice. The vibe in the shop just isn't that warm and fuzzy. Still, I opened my package at my desk and was very pleased to see a plump homemade sausage, egg and cheese sandwich, almost falling out of its kaiser roll. The sausage patty was easily twice the thickness of a standard commercial variety, and was nicely spiced and textured. Same with the scrambled egg folded in fourths and surrounded by melted cheese. This was an epic zoftig morning oversized creation. First bite surprised me with all that savory flavor from the sausage, while the double eggs softened the experience and melded well with the cheese. Taken together it was a superlative tactile and tasty moment. I slowed my chew to enjoy each element and the overall gestalt. This was no ordinary sandwich, and it deserved all my attention. The sandwich alone garnered five stars, although to be frank, the absence of coffee for purchase was disappointing.
