Right next to the bustling cute corner of Sansom and 13th Street, the energy here is fantastic. The interior is hip, cozy, and warm. While we had table seating, I'd love to try the bar seating on our next visit. The energy of the kitchen was palpable. Favorite dishes were:1. Olives2. Watermelon Salad3. Meatballs 4. Tufoli5. I've dined here at least 5x and everything stays consistent.I took my dad here for his birthday and he is still raving about the food and how great Giorgio was. We ordered the mussels and clams as our app and that may have been the best thing I ate that night. The broth was we made with cognac and cream. A bit of sweetness and absolutely addicting. I wanted to soak all the bread in that sauce. We both ordered the specials for our entree. I got the branzino and my dad got the Parmesan crusted pork chop. My branzino was cooked perfectly, was light and packed a lot of flavors. My dad's pork chop was enormous and rich with flavor. For dessert, we shared the tiramisu which never disappoints. This is a great restaurant and one of the best in Philly. It is always a full house, tight and loud so keep that in mind. If that environment is not for you, do take out! Highly recommend this place!"

We sat outside with our dog under their red umbrellas shielding ourselves from the sun's rays. Our server was super attentive. My wife had the Waygu beef burger med-well with sweet potato fries, both were cooked to her perfection. I had their quinoa gain salad and added grilled chicken, was fantastic, the flavor and size really hit the spot. Their house lemonade was delightful on this hot summer day. Their homemade dressing was finger licking yummy. The other item we'd say not to skip is their kale Caesar salad. Honestly, one of the best kale Caesar's I've ever had. Service and ambiance are delightful. It has a cool modern cafe vibe which made it the perfect elevated sandwich spot for us. Would absolutely come back!"

The menu isn't large and that's great because the few things on there are done to perfection. I always experiment with cocktails and entree pairings but the charred octopus is my staple appetizer. Parking in the front is ample and the prices are reflective of the quality. Wait staff is attentive without being overbearing and the vibe is light and airy. Spacious digs with outdoor seating and dog accommodations outside as well. You can't be disappointed with the seasonings and although dessert isn't on the menu the do have a couple things the wait staff can riddle off without a stutter. Love it"

I got the marghertia pizza personal. I went to go inside and grab my food, and saw they were open! We asked if we could sit inside with our meal, but they rudely said no and that we had to order inside to be able to sit inside. Didn't know what difference it would've made considering it was empty. We ended up eating in the car. Onto the food- this is legit my favorite pizza! The crust was the perfect amount of crispness. The sauce was saucy. I prefer a little liquidity than tomato flavored. It was excellent. The proportions for bread, to sauce to cheese was on point. I came home with my leftovers and couldn't quite get the same level of crispy. Downgraded a star because of the rude staff."

Stan H. "Staff is friendly. Inside is nice but definitely more functional than aesthetic per se. Having a dine in area and a cafe/take out area in the small space they have helps them make the most profit. I don't personally know how their entrees are but their pizza is delicious. Thin but flavorful and artisan. Rione was better to me but Rione is no longer around. Alice is great to still have around. Rize in Broomall and West Chester, while no competition for Alice, is also artisan and tends to be slightly greasier. Maybe I like Rize more because of its grease partially :/ but Alice holds its own.The TooGoodToGo is very hard to get but nice to see a pic of. You get random pieces cold and you are even asked if you have any food needs which they are not obligated to ask you. The drink options have a good variety. Pear was refreshing albeit typically small quantity and the chino was a typical bittersweet orange flavored soft drink. I liked it even though it is an Italian standard that I had never seen or noticed before."

He recalled learning that the secret to their sauce was a bit of grape jelly. I don't know if that is/was true, but their sauce was definitely sweeter than other slices. I don't prefer sweet tomato sauce. But this was a completely acceptable slice. Decent cheese. Thin, crispy crust. I don't know if I'd go out of my way for this--I'd pass multiple decent slices on my way here. But if I lived nearby it would be a reliable place to scratch the itch for a quick slice."

It tasted exactly how I wanted it to taste and was a good portion, but not enough for leftoversNoted that I had a dairy allergy when ordering, and the chef came out to the table to let us know that they normally toss the sauce in butter before adding the other ingredients, but could use oil instead due to the allergy.I appreciate them making the effort to accommodate, and judging this place on what it sets out to be (no frills pasta and sandwiches) it accomplishes that perfectly"

Megan C. "Sometimes 5 stars just isn't enough! So is the case for the experience I had this weekend at Square Pie. A quiet Sunday lunch with a bottle of cabernet, two "small" pizzas, and a perfect house salad. I'll get into the food, of course, but more important to me is the fact that I came here and felt immediately initiated into the Square Pie family: literally. Owner/chef Giuliano was tucked away in the kitchen while his dad served my boyfriend and I with the kind of immediate care and welcoming nature you can only find in an Italian joint run by native South Philadelphians. We had made plans to come here as an extra special post-half marathon meal and got so much more than we bargained for at every level. As for the food, the pepperoni pizza is the best pizza I've had in Philadelphia and it's not close. Pardon my french, but I am Philly pizza's number one shit talker. I love Pizzata and I love Paulie Gee's and a few of the other spots that specialize in specific styles, but I overwhelmingly find Philly's pizza scene to be...unfortunate. Cue the Shrek credits because I am now a believer. The cup and char pepperoni holds honey and oily perfection in every bite, with a crust that melts in your mouth. Sauce matches sweetness to acidity and isn't heavy handed. Or maybe it's that everything is a little heavy handed and that's what makes it magical? Who cares. I tried to savor every bite but I am already daydreaming about the next time I can drink wine and eat this pizza. The romaine salad was a recommendation and shouldn't be skipped! Roasted tomatoes bring it all together but the red wine vinaigrette and jelly yolk boiled egg make it pack extra punch. The pizza on special was amazing as well - covered in brussels and fontina and caramelized onions. They post their special pies on Instagram and I think they change weeklyish. Delivery is available on Slice and Uber Eats, something I know I'll be taking advantage of in the near future. That being said, it's hard to replicate the fun of dining in. Square Pie has updated their hours so if it's been a minute, grab a bottle of wine and settle in. Pizza cheers!"

It really heightened the experience to have someone going over the menu and making suggestions that they seemed genuinely excited for us to try. Honestly some of the things we would've never chosen for ourselves and they turned out to be the best. It was also my wife's birthday so we were given a glass of champagne for her and ginger ale for me. Such a nice gesture. For instance the prosciutto with the horseradish kind of scared us, but the horse radish was so subtle. It came with something similar to an Asian crispy noodle. There was a crispy pork dish with pineapples that was absolutely delicious. Fritti I think was the dish. Nestor explained to us how it's made and why it's so good. The roasted beets were delicious. The Burrata salad was so good. It was a very different mix of tastes that would make no sense if described separately but spectacular when combined. Like Captain Planet. For my main dish Casoncelli is what was suggested to me. It was fantastic. I also got the crispy potatoes. They were perfectly crispy and good but I don't recommend wasting space on them. The wait was a tad excessive which I credited to the food being "made with love".FOOD I love a good piece of focaccia! Another contributor commented that their pizza can be likened to focaccia which I would find to be incredibly accurate. The "Detroit" style was incredibly flavorful accompanied by a heaping of toppings(I settled on the "I'm A Boss"). The Nutella Sugar Knots are pretty solid! Full of confectionery sugar on top. The knots are very soft....might be better to make it a little crispy on the outside.
