"I've ordered delivery from Frannie Nick's twice since covid-19. Each time I felt like I was eating a good home cooked meal. The standout star both times was the cheesesteak eggrolls. They are delicious. As good as you will find anywhere in the city. That's the only dish that reminds you that you have ordered from a restaurant. The fried chicken, macaroni & cheese, and string beans have that homemade taste that makes you feel like you made yourself the plate of food at a family dinner. In this era of covid-19, when a lot of sould food family dinners have been canceled, Frannie Nick's really hits the spot when I'm craving soul food."

"This is our 2nd go around with Pescatore. The vibe here is old school Italian American. This place hasn't changed one bit since it opened way back when! We had a large group for a Saturday evening and we were seated and taken care of very well and throughout the whole night. What we snagged:-Calamari -Mussels -Sunday Gravy -Veal Mia (VERY Flavorful) -Chicken Milanese Overall, the meal was great. Highly recommend checking this place out for a great meal that's BOYB. Can't catch those in Philly. Only downfall was my wife's uncooked chicken. Like WAY undercooked. Sent it back and it was fixed. They even gave us a free cannoli to apologize. Very sweet."
"The all you can eat $30 option is such a great deal! I love crawfish and it really hit the spot. They have good appetizers/ sides as well! Aesthetically, the restaurant itself is nothing special so you're really going for the food. FYI- Only street parking!"
"Really kind, c carrying service and absolutely delicious food! Would love to return. Ordered tea, very tender & juicy chicken malai kebab, saag paneer, she fresh garlic naan. I wish I were closer to here!"
"I was in the mood for some breaded wings and crabstick's so i went to Hyons. Grew up on Hyons being as though ima West Philly Native. They still have that good flavor like in the 90's when i was a little kid. It was nostalgia eating here it took me back to my childhood they haven't missed a beat. The food was Great and the Staff was Friendly. They have the Best Breaded wings in the City Hands down."
"I was brought here by a friend. I would have never known this place existed had he not.Walking in, everything was clean and in order. The lady behind the counter was so genuinely nice. She was very patient with us while we ordered, and changed our minds about 5 times. She explained, and answered questions all with keeping her upbeat demeanor.I ordered a turkey burger. It didn't knock me off of my feet, but it was good. I liked te seasoned fries that came on the side. The menu is pretty extensive. I would return to try other options."
"COVID-19 TAKE OUT REVIEWSpice Garden is a take away only Indian kitchen that focuses on Kerala style South Indian cuisine. It didn't have to change much of its operation to adjust to the pandemic. On the end of an old commercial strip near the bottom of Bustleton Avenue just a few blocks before Grant Avenue, it is designed to accept your phone order for pick up 30 - 40 minutes later. That was our plan after grocery shopping at the large Asian supermarket on St. Vincent's Street @ Roosevelt Avenue. We called from the parking lot, arriving about 15 minutes later because of light Memorial Day Weekend traffic. Now, I've had much better curries, masalas and garlic naans than are offered at Spice Garden, but on the other hand there is a trade-off of larger quantities and cheaper prices than available at standard Hindi houses, although the online menu states that recent cost of ingredient increases necessitated higher prices. That's just reality given these harsh times, and we didn't object to absorbing a couple of more bucks. Of course, by the time we reached home the blush was off the rose. Reheating was required to reanimated each dish. We found each was tasty and very well spiced. The two chicken plates led the way, with the Kerala Chicken Curry in a dark thick sauce and the Chicken Pepper Fry bone in and the hottest of the lot. It was a finger food delight. The Channa Masala was lighter cream colored mildly sweet veggie dish that was a good sop for the Garlic Naan. The other diced mixed veggie bowl was a strong counterpoint to the rest of the tongue challenging heat packed into the two plastic take home bags. The only real downside to the experience was the cleanliness of the small anteroom when I waited for the food. There were several insulated containers sitting on the floor, each more schmutzidick than the other. Clearly used for moving cooked food, there was no way they would pass a health department inspection. They left me wondering about the condition of the kitchen on the other side of that swinging door. I'll let you know if I experience any side effects from this meal, which appears to be enough for three dinners."
"I was in Philly and wanted some real food and support a Black Owned business. I goes straight to YELP to check out what was near me, and this spot came up and had decent reviews, so off I go to try it out. I ordered the fried fish and shrimp platter with cabbage and greens, a catfish sandwich, and corn on the cob. I'm so disappointed that I spent $42.66 and the food was TRASH!!! The whiting was old and dried out, the shrimp were fried hard on the outside and chewy on the inside, corn was overcooked and very difficult to bite into. My guy sad the catfish wasn't bad but the greens , tasteless and same for the cabbage. My biggest regret is that I didn't take pictures before trashing it!"
"Easy, fun group dinner option. It's hard to have a bad time wearing a bib and drinking from a flaming scorpion bowl. Keep it simple; our order was baby clams, shrimp, crawfish, sausage, potatoes, corn in garlic butter and I'd order that exact same "bag" again. Cajun fries were also a hit."
"Came in to get some shrimp for dinner. Place is relatively small but lots of fresh choices! Service was good. The shrimp were cleaned and even the tail was removed. Highly recommend."
"Fabulous food in a fabulous, and unique, setting aboard an anchored ship. We all had fish--bronzino, salmon, and Red Snapper. All were fine, but the snapper was out of this world."

Frannie Nicks is a new black women owned BBQ/soul food joint in Queen Village. Their menu includes fried/grilled chicken, shrimp, brisket, alfredo pasta, and sides galore. They're offering great daily deals if you order pickup too. I ordered pickup on a Friday, when they offer 3 sides with their entrees instead of the usual 2, and that was a ton of food!I got the grilled chicken wings with crack sauce, brisket, mac n cheese, collard greens, string beans, sweet potatoes, and potato salad. This was enough for four meals! The chicken wings stood out, they were perfectly cooked and the rub and sauce was delicious. The brisket was disappointing however, it was very dry. I'm not sure if this was a fluke but I wouldn't order it again if it isn't improved. All the sides were delicious! The collard greens and green beans were a nice touch for an otherwise heavy meal.Ordering online was simple and service was smooth and friendly. Overall a good experience and meal and I'd love to try the fried chicken or fish next time.

We came to Pescatore on a Tuesday evening around 6pm without a reservation and were easily seated. They are BYOB so we brought our own wine. We started with a special that included baked stuffed clams, clams casino, and calamari. The baked clams were amazing, calamari was great, and clams casino may have been good but the style is not for me. In addition we had a burrata salad, which was well dressed with good flavor. We were surprised by the amount of greens on the flatbread but it was delicious with generous amounts of crab. The gnocchi had a wonderful texture and a rich delicious sauce. The mixed ocean grill was in an oil sauce and had a generous lobster tail and great big scallops that were expertly cooked. The meatball was pretty good, but a meatball's a meatball. Go for the seafood, it's great and the prices are definitely a good value. The staff were all very attentive and the food came out quickly. The ambiance was fairly relaxed and as the place filled up it wasn't too loud. We came with a baby and they were very accommodating! We will absolutely be back.

My daughters and I decided to go to South Street (last minute) since the weather was beautiful today. Originally, we wanted to go to Ishkabibbles for cheesesteaks but I was craving seafood. We all agreed that it sounded like a splendid idea and here we are... satisfying our immediate cravings. Monday thru Thursday was $29.99 all you can eat.And that's exactly what we've all ordered. Surprisingly, the portions were pretty decent. Most importantly, it was fresh and delicious. Our server was very attentive too. We've had a great time and looking forward to going back.

Tucked away in an unassuming but new-ish looking strip center is truly a first class Indian cuisine experience equal to what you might expect on the main drag in a big city.I am always a little leery of menus that are as long as a CVS drug reciept....come on!....you can't possibly make every single item on this menu and have it come out with individual delightful unique glory....can you?Well apparently this is true and verified as my experience was just that. No, I didn't make it through the whole menu. But I did take sample of 4 main dishes in two days. And each one was unique and flavorful. The sauces all different and ranging from mild to tingly.I particularly enjoyed The onion baji, the vegetable samosas, chana saaag, Aloo gobi, chana masala. Eat in was ok, not particularly a draw to dine in. To take out is probably better as they packed the items carefully and was piping hot by the time we got home.

Hyon's was pretty good for what I ordered, wasn't the best but pretty average. Being from Southwest and hanging in West Philly a lot coming up as a kid, I always use to see this store but never ate from here until recently. Tell you this much, the amount of food you receive in a chicken wing special is more than enough for one person in my opinion. Even if you been REAL hungry. That special comes with 6wings, golden nicely cooked fries, and your choice is of cole slaw or pasta salad. Think for $11+ So the prices definitely went up within the last 2yrs. Everything now is though cause of times so nothing big. I enjoyed my wings honestly. Didn't finish them but they were satisfying and tasted decent. Probably should've skipped on the crab sticks though but that was my fault cause I seen my cousin post some and I thought they would be good as his looked but they were just okay. Should've got the scallops like I originally was gonna do. Called my order in ahead of time so it was no long time to get my food. When you get there if you want condiments, you put them on yourself. Everything is there so I put the ketchup, hot sauce, and little salt on both of my food. Friendly staff inside. They speak and acknowledge you so that's always points for any business. Have no complaints in general and yes I would come back, just would change my 2nd option. Hyon's definitely worth a visit if your around the way.

Driving through North Philly looking for a quick and delicious bite. Paprika's food is made to order so plan to wait. The wait is worth is for perfectly moist and seasoned to perfection. I will definitely be back!

Amazing place. The food is deliciously prepared and one portion is enough for me to have two, sometimes, three meals out of it. The leftovers keep well. The staff is friendly and attentive and willing to explain everything.

"Looks can definitely be deceiving and that is definitely the case with the exterior of WooJung. This sushi restaurant is in an old shopping plaza with limited parking however when you walk in you feel like you're being transported to Japan. I arrived for a late night weekday dinner on a rainy evening and there was only one other party seated at a table. My friend and I were immediately greeted handed menus and offered cold water. It is a fairly large space with many tables and beautiful art on the walls. The food was very fresh and beautifully presented. I had the shrimp tempura appetizer $11.95 that was perfectly fried and served with a few tempura vegetables. It was a difficulty decision selecting a roll, everything sounded so good and pretty interesting. With assistance from our waitress I decided to order a jalapeno business roll $19 (love the name!). It was very filling and contained very fresh fish. I wanted to order a Japanese beer but learned the restaurant is BYOB. There is a bar next door selling beer and spirits but I decided to just enjoy my meal with water. If I'm in the area again, I would definitely return."
"Ok so we spent an afternoon here while waiting for our kid to be done with his class. We sat at the bar and the service was great, our bartender was nice and very interactive with us. She took a shot with us as well, and recommended the French onion soup which was outstanding. We had been searching for great French onion soup which has eluded us. The ambiance is cool, very Irish bar vibes with TV's and music. Almost seems cookie cutter nowadays. We stayed to eat as well, and had to say the food was decent. I had the wings which were good not great but still enjoyable. We are planning on going back to do quizzo as well."
"My family and I came here last night to celebrate a friend's birthday, and it was just as fabulous as our last experience! The ambiance is modern and classy. It really is a great spot for a special night out, but they also have great apps/pizzas so you could just come sit at the bar for a more casual vibe. They change there menu seasonally, which means there is always something new to try! The bread for the table is SO GOOD! I love the olive oil they put with it and the texture is perfect. For starters, we shared the shrimp cocktail, calamari, and fried artichokes! All were 5 stars. I actually liked the sauce that came with the artichokes the best and was dipping my calamari in it! For my entree, I had the risotto, which came with jumbo lump crab, and almost a Mexican style spicy salsa. It was delicious! I ate every bit and would definitely order this again. Everyone loved their meals and we shared the caramel crunch brownie. If you are a chocolate/caramel lover, you need to try this dessert! It was so good and the crunchy bits really made it.I look forward to coming back and seeing what they bring for their fall/winter menus!"
"i ordered the lump meat crab fries and the fried shrimp basket..it was genuinely top 3 nastiest meals i've ever had in my life! the fries had little to no crab meat, which is super cheap & sneaky bc the pictures had meat stacked on them jawns.. the shrimp was mad oily i am genuinely so disappointed!"
"Tried delivery for this spot even though it was up in another area. The mega fries were amazing. The cheesiest, fullest medium size i've ever had, along with lots of bacon and also jalapeños to make the flavor just perfect. Can't wait to try pizza as well!"
"Always good. I recommend the cooked extra large crabs with garlic butter sauce. Never disappoints."
"Service was very good. The seafood fried rice was good. Didn't seem to be the freshest, but taste was good and overall very solid meal"
"After a long trip to Philly I didn't feel like cooking, found this little gem on Uber Eats and decided to give them a try. The portions were ample; the stuffed Salmon was amazing, and so was the broccoli. The Mac and Cheese was pretty good, a little different than I am used to but not in a bad way, I still enjoyed it. It's a little pricey but the quality of food was made it worth it. I also had the Berry juice (the blue one) which was delicious. I'll definitely be eating here again!"
"Updated:This place is going downwards. I dined here tonight and discovered it's no longer run by the previous owner. The service & management style has obviously changed, unfortunately on the down side. The food still tastes good, but both my partner and I experienced digestive discomfort a few hours after eating here. Since Szechuanese food is often heavy spiced, I can't tell if their ingredients are fresh enough. However, I suspect their kitchen quality control is going down with new management.I probably won't come back.-------------------I was born in Chengdu, Szechuan and I can safe say that Szechuanese dim sum dishes here are authentic, like dandan noodles, honeyed garlic noodle, hot & sour noodles. However, other dishes here are among average in Chinatown.I talked to the Chef once and he is from Szechuan, too.The management of the restaurant need improvement, as they get swamped when there are too many customers."
"This place is amazing. The Jumbo Shrimp with Walnut in Cream Sauce is hands down my favorite dish so far at this place. The sauce is so delicious and the shrimp are so big. The Peking duck was juicy and the buns tasted so fresh. The Pepper Steak with Onion was also cooked to perfection. My friends who have been going to this place ever since they were children said this would be their last meal and I totally agree that it's amazing."
"I believe this place used to be called Hippot and rebranded. Seafood Hotpot offers basic AYCE hot pot for $26, and a "Cajun" option at a higher price. I went for the basic option. Seating limit is 2hrs but I'm not sure how strictly this is enforced, especially if the restaurant isn't busy. You pick your broth (can be shared big pot for the whole table with or without dividers, or can be individual hot pots). There is a mixed system to get your food. The more high-end protein options (ex. beef, pork, shrimp) must be ordered through the servers. For veggies, carbs (noodles, rice), and more low-end protein options (ex. meatballs, frozen mussels), you pick them yourself in the buffet area. They also feature a self serve beverage fridge included in the meal price, including bottles of soy milk, water, iced tea, etc. There are also a few very basic desserts like Chinese dessert soups. The variety and quality of the items aren't the absolute best. I consider this to be more of a low-end hot pot place, but I've seen hot pot places that charge significantly higher and the food items aren't much more exciting. So based on value I think Seafood Hotpot gives you bang for your buck. I also happen to like the buffet display meaning that I can go get more food without always having to wait for the server. I would come back here!"
"First, I devoured my Boil so intently that I forgot to take a pic of it.Fresh seafood. More than generous portion sizes. Easy ordering. Easy & efficient pickup. Adding a 6th star Go get it"
"Came here on a whim and am I happy I did. Ordered their Specialty Combo D which came with a half cluster crab, several large shrimp, corn, broccoli, and potatoes. Options for sauce was a mix of Cajun and garlic butter with a heat level of mild. I also got the crab meat fried rice and an order of hush puppies. It took roughly about 15-20 minutes for the crab meat fried rice to come out, shortly followed by the boil mix. The rice was cook to perfection. It wasn't oily, vegetables were cook tender, and there was a nice portion of crab meat throughout the rice. It was plenty for two to three people, if not four. The boil mix upon initial look didn't seem like a hearty portion but it truly is. The crab legs were cook to the point you could crack the shell and pull the crab meat out without struggle. It made for dipping in the Cajun garlic butter sauce enjoyable. The shrimp were plump, large, deheaded and cleaned. It didn't take much to pull the remaining shell off. The side vegetables that cone with the boil were cook to tender perfection. All and all, what a surprise to find while in the search for a seafood boil meal. I wasn't expecting for the food to be as tasty as it was since this places didn't have many or any customers upon my arrival. The outside doesn't scream come in and eat here, neither does the inside. But my experience wasn't based on looks it was the product they are putting out and that's delicious seafood. Quick inviting service from walking through the door until walking out. Prices seem in line with other restaurants I've been too that sell similar dishes. I definitely would give them another go to make sure it wasn't a fluke of a first experience."
"I recently tried Soul By The Sea via a delivery service. On the delivery app the restaurant is described as a black owned. I tried the Shrimp Fried Rice with Broccoli. The meal was very filling and full of flavor. The fried rice is $12.00 on the app and they give a lot of food. I received four large shrimp on top and cut up shrimp mixed in with the meal. The large side of buttered broccoli was a good addition. I'd definitely order this meal again.I also ordered the fried whiting fish sandwich and a side of macaroni and cheese. I ate the fish the next day heated in the oven. The fried whitening was delicious. It cost only $7.00 for the sandwich. They give 4 large pieces of fish with 2 slices of bread on the side. I ate it with the cayenne sauce packs included. My sis bought a platter of fried shrimp and fries. I tried one of the shrimp, the seasoning was very flavorful. The fries were too greasy for my taste but the one shrimp I tried was delicious, so I'm definitely getting an order of 6 next time."
"While in Philly / NJ I wanted to support as many soul food establishments as I could. While the offerings here weren't my style, I could tell that the business is a valuable asset in the area and the owner is working hard. As a single female traveler, I can say don't be intimidated or hesitate about the area. Just park on the main drag, plug the meter, and walk over. It's a busy part of Olney shared by a diverse range of Hoomans."
""You can take the boy out of the city, but you can't take the city out of the boy " Very true. Perhaps this is why I always look forward to exploring Philly neighborhoods for cool places to eat. Today it was The New Olympia House on Castor Avenue that had my time and attention. A corner luncheonette that has been slinging hash for more than half a century, this little piece of Athens is well preserved, with long counter with about 10 spinners, booths behind that, and a large dining room behind the kitchen in this double wide row house neighborhood. The charm and cultural history were all in place, much as it has operated since 1960. I was very happy to have found the joint as I straddled the stool and was approached by the attractive server in black spandex pants. The question at hand was - would the kitchen support the excited first impression, or no? The answer was discovered soon enough. For this breakfast at least, the rude awakening was in the negative - my anticipation was better than the reality this day. My french toast looked golden brown, and the old style syrup dispenser with slip down spring metal opening was way cool. However, the underside chassis had too much char, resulting in a burnt taste that required extra syrup to offset. That taste led me to think that the grill was not cleaned between orders, leaving burnt butter or other lubricant around to stick to the next food sizzling there. It also meant a lack of attention by the short order cook (not chef), and an attempt to hide the dark side from view. The three slices were ample, and had the decision been made to start afresh rather than hope I didn't notice, would have made me a true fan.First impression dashed. The Cecilware drip coffee was fine. I love those old contraptions. Yet, despite all the help behind the counter, no one saw that my small cup was bereft of coffee and needed refilling, until I asked. Hard to understand such inattentiveness when I was the only customer sitting there. Chalk it up to my invisibility, sometimes not the best superpower to practice while dining. Still, I liked New Olympia House enough to regret this happenstance, and wish for a better experience. This could have been one of those true Philadelphia moments that only the city's profound indifference to perfection in the face of amazing potential, created the opportunity to transcend low expectations and truly hit the mark in miraculous laudation. That moment must await a more hopeful day."
"Here again the other night. Was very busy since it was a Friday night but we were able to find yo seats at the bar. They have a dj on Friday and Saturday which is pretty loud but ok. I didn't have food this time just drinks but I recommend the wings or the shrimp platter."
"The ambiance was nice, the staff was friendly. The service was too slow. The rating is low because the goat dum biryani we ordered was WAY TOO SPICY even though we had specifically requested for VERY MILD. We had two little kids in the party, but even for the adults the spicy was too much to handle. The cook offered to remake it, and we made the order to-go since it had already been a while. But the second order was as spicy as the first one. Not a good experience."
"I've been coming here since i was an adolescent, so I'm familiar with their tasty golden brown batter. I usually order the fried flounder, chicken wings, or butterfly shrimp. Because it's located in delaware county, I can make one stop for my food, beer, and cigarettes. Sometimes, I feel like i have a role in "Don't be a menace to society, while drinking your juice in the hood." They sometimes rush you into ordering and its not in a subtle way, it's like "hurry up and buy". lol This is my own personal feeling, they're really nice people and sometimes he'll make a joke or two. I'd recommend this spot for the seafood or a quick beer run."
"Definitely a good quality seafood place for southern Delco. I enjoyed the lobster tail which came in a boil with corn, potatoes, and broccoli. Excellent Cajun seasoning to all of it as well. The meat was decent. Not the best lobster I've ever had but you can't expect that in Delco. It's good enough. I really loved the corn which was sweet with a good combo of the seasoning. Tasted the wings too. They're huge and breaded while packing a decent flavor. I'm a fan now."
"Okay, I went 1:30PM and got 3 pieces Whiting fish and 3 fried chicken Wings w/ two sides macaroni and cheese, potatoe salad and cornbread. It must have been good because I went back at 7:45PM and got the Whiting Fish and Catfish with sweet potatoes, greens and cornbread.Yes, if I went out and bought this and brought it home and you ate it you would not think this was not a black man, he is Chinese."
"I decided to celebrate national fried shrimp day 2022 at Seafood Unlimited. I hadn't been there in probably 15 years. It turns out I made the best choice I could have possibly made. I stopped by during happy hour and they have a great happy hour. Good discounted drink specials and plenty of discounted snacks. There is shrimp on the happy hour menu, but I went for the Jumbo friend shrimp entrée from the regular menu. The shrimp were actually jumbo, juicy, and perfectly fried. The best friend shrimp I've had in Philly since the days of Bookbinders. If you like fried shrimp, this is the place to get them! The entree comes with a generous portion of crispy fries and tasty cole slaw. I wanted to sample more of the menu so I also tried the New England clam chowder. A hot bowl of soup almost as good as what you get in New England. I ended my meal with the carrot cake dessert. It was a bit cold and would have been better served at room temperature. But all the expected carrot cake deliciousness was there in that slice.I ended up staying at Seafood Unlimited longer than I anticipated. The people at the bar were nice and the bartender, Morgan, is awesome. The fried shrimp were to die for! I'll be back to try more of the menu!"
"It was my first time here and it was for a company function. The service was impeccable from the hostess station to the servers to the bussers. I had the braised salmon, and it was fork tender and so flavorful. We had a variety of sides for the group. I heard high praise for the crème brulee corn, the asparagus, and scalloped potatoes. I also had the Warm Vanilla Caramel Cake suggested by the server and she was right, it was amazing. It is located across the street from South Park Mall, it cannot be seen from the road. It is in the APEX. Snooze AM eatery is on the corner as location reference. And as others have mentioned it is on the pricier side, but worth it for a memorable evening out.The only "sort of issue" we had, as a group of a certain age, was the lighting. It was very dark and hard to read the menu. We dined around 6pm all the windows were covered; they raised the blinds around 9pm when we were leaving."
