"I stopped in this market more for just the food. No matter what time my day it is, The mood is always peaceful and welcoming here. There's always a nice line for the buffet and understandably because it's one of the few places that really makes home style, Middle Eastern food and you can do some grocery shopping. Today I ordered lamb with rice and mixed vegetables. I hadn't been by here in a while but everything is just as good as I remember. I can't say enough how awesome it is to come here and get food and to have conversation with fellow patrons and staff. It's definitely a treasure to have a 24 -hour market like this in the neighborhood."
"One of my favorite parts of moving to a new neighborhood is getting a chance to explore all its corner bodegas and delis. So in my new space, Wawa is only a block away..... but if I'm going to level with you, it definitely isn't my favorite hoagie in the city. (Please don't throw batteries at me!!)I've passed Jay's a bazillion times and finally looked it up on Yelp. I love you guys. You didn't steer me wrong. Ordered an Italian hoagie. Got a beautifully constructed sandwich. I'll post that cross section for y'all. See how they put the lettuce between the mayo and meats so the meat & cheese don't slip and slide right out the roll with your first bite? It's the little touches, man! They also used some quality meats. The prosciutto was extra tasty. Can't wait to order many, many more hoagies from Jay's."
"Stopped by with my dog to order an Italian hoagie a few months back and was stopped by the lady at the cashier's counter. Silly me didn't realize dogs were not allowed inside. Even though we couldn't go inside, the lady at the counter offered to take my order at the door. While we waited for my hoagie order to be made, my dog and I went for a short walk. We came back 15 minutes to pick up my hoagie. As we waited by the front door, the same lady asked if I would like some dog treats for my dog, which I thought was super sweet! She gave me a couple of dog treats and my dog gobbled them up immediately. After we got back home, I unwrapped my hoagie to eat it. The bread was not thick (like Primo Hoagies). The hoagie was stuffed sufficiently and not to the point where the sides would burst. It was the perfect size and with each bite, I got a bit of everything. I could taste the freshness of the cucumbers between the cold cuts. I was gonna just eat half a hoagie, but I couldn't help myself and ate the whole thing. Can't believe I've been sleeping on 3J's all these years. I'm definitely adding 3J's to my rotation of weekday lunches."
"I can't believe that I've never left a yelp for my favorite hoagie place in the whole wide world!!! I am from Philly, we don't buy "subs" we eat HOAGIES! I'm from Philly, we don't go to Pat's and Geno's for a cheesesteak-we go to our local restaurant or we travel to Delassandro's in Roxborough lollll...I don't speak for all of PHL but I have to speak for all of us when it comes to a hoagie /steak lolll anyhow...I would argue and debate with anyone that this spot has the best hoagies, I honestly can't even go anywhere else for a hoagie unless hoagies are $5 on sale at wawa and I'm super starving....All of the cold cuts are freshly sliced as you order, and they offer tuna and meatball sandwiches as well....they even do party platters. You can expect a line, because this is a popular spot-but the line goes by fast--folks come from all over for a hoagies---the tomatoes, the lettuce, the mayo, the cheese the fresh daily Amorroso rolls...I mean these hoagies are good to the last drop or oregano seed or oil if you choice to top your hoagie off with such a topper. Did I mention that I've been coming here since I can remember? I would give this place 10 stars if I could simply because they are consistent and the sister and brother that run the business are very respectable...this is a family owned organization and they value their customers! Atleast once every two weeks I have to come here for my craving and get my biweekly dose of a "majors hoagie". You must try this spot ! I PRomise that your won't regret it. I forgot to post a pic of my hoagie because I quickly gobbled it all down."
"Kennedy food market is great. Good selection, polite staff, delicious deli sandwiches."
"Wow! Finally a clean, safe, fabulously-stocked (and equally highly priced) convenience grocer. The have milk, shrimp shumai, honey candies, go-go squeeze (applesauce) and boar's head deli. All the neccesities.Thank goodness they opened!"
"When it comes to their hoagies, all I can say is YUM! hey are PACKED with MEAT- I say it in CAPS because it is HUGE!!My brother introduced me to this deli/market and ever since he did I have been a repeated customer. The hoagies are packed with meat and cheese compared to other places that are skimpy with the ingredients and they taste really fresh! When it comes to the customer service, the staff are friendly and helpful and make recommendations if you are unsure what you want to order on that particular day. I'm a usual kind of person, so I usually get the Turkey and Cheese hoagies, with extra pickles. They make the hoagie right there and you can see them make it and drool as you wait to bite in to that yummy sandwich. In the market they also sell soda, chips, cookies, and cakes."

As long as I can remember being in West Philly Makkah has been a go to place for anything Middle Eastern. It always has been a bit intimidating being an Asian woman to go in here; usually the place is filled with men, few women, and narrow aisles. When Al-Rayyan market opened up around the corner I started going there because it was more sanitized and more women shoppers were there. However, let me tell you, Makkah is a gem. I have been looking for Aleppo peppers everywhere and could not find any. I took a chance and went today, and voilà! Found one! I even bought the bean pie! Wow! As intimidating as it is, I have always found Makkah employees to be helpful, and kind. It is also open 24 hours, with all sorts of homemade prepared Middle Eastern food, and desserts. They have a barbershop upstairs, and also kitchenware, clothes, etc upstairs as well. Thank you for making my day!

Great neighborhood market and takeout spot. Big selection of beverages. Order ahead, as they get busy. Steak sandwiches, breakfast sandwiches, deli... they'll cook when you can't be bothered. We enjoyed the bulgogi cheesesteak. They are open pretty late. It's a friendly, reliable neighborhood shop.

If you're in the area, Major's is a worthy stop and still a great value for city prices. They continue to make hoagies deserving of Philly's best, full of craft and classic taste! Why 4 stars? I've found a place to eclipse Major's hoagies. It's a far drive from East Falls, but for the same price ($6 turkey hoagie) at Brookhaven Market (DelCo) you'll get 4x the fillings, and taste equal to Major's. I will give Major's credit for fresher bread, excellent, but my other place still has a great roll, and much better value.

On the suggestion of coworkers, I came here for lunch to grab a sandwich or salad. I've actually walked by this place many times and never realized it. It's a nondescript deli with tables and chairs. You order at the deli counter and they bring it out to your table. They offer salads and sandwiches (hot and cold). I got the smoked turkey and smoked mozzarella on a French baguette, picked up a bag of chips and a drink. What's a bit strange is that you pay after you eat. I guess it's all about the honor system. When they drop off your food, they write up your check with whatever else you picked up. The prices are decent and the food is fresh. The salads are ridiculously large (I would say at least a portion for three people). A good spot to stop by for a quick good lunch though it did get crowded while I was there.

As far as bodega sandwiches go - this place is good. For $5, you can get a huge breakfast sandwich. I got a egg-and-pork-sandwich on a croissant, which normally would go for much more at any other place. You can tell that it is a go-to place for a lot of people. They have a lot of different items for sale and can come in clutch if you need a one-off item. This does exactly what it is meant to.

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaasssssssss! If I could give more A's and S's I would. I love me a traditional Philly hoagie spot. Keller's as a whole it a little mini mart with a few of the priority groceries, some veggies, and a deli section. I always have to test my hoagie spots with my order to make sure they're legit. They passed the test with flying colors. They made my hoagie with pure Philly lovin and I appreciate it. Soft rolls, thin sliced meat, various cheese options (I'm a cooper sharp kinda gal), allat. They definitely give me the friendly neighborhood store vibes and that's always what I'm looking for.

Very good chicken schwarma. The chicken was perhaps a little bit dry/crumbly. But the pita was fresh, the vegetables were plentiful and fresh. And overall this was a good wrap and a good value

"I gave my support. I ordered half if an Italian hoagie. And no prosciutto.Pepper ham instead. The pepper ham was $3.00 extra. 12.46...Clean, and friendly. One and done for me."
"I got the Kimchi Bulgogi hoagie. It was hot and kind of chopped so I'm going to use the powers vested in me by the Philadelphia Inquirer as possibly the cheesesteak authority and consider it to be in the cheesesteak family. It was good and under $8. The roll was good but standard. The meat was good but more is usually better. The veggies were nice but one piece of celery was awful stringy. It had a very good amount of spicy sauce. I took it to Garage bar. I paired it with a lovely Southern Tier summer session Cherry Crush. The three of us had a lovely time at Garage bar's outside seating area on Girard Avenue."
"Gag. 0 Stars to the infinity. Seriously. Stay away, if you value your innards, you will do yourself a favor and keep your distance from this bodega. I don't know if I can even recommend buying a pack of gum from here.Items here are rarely fresh (I mean, you can take one peek at their produce section and ascertain that for yourself) and shelf items (milk, too!) are almost always past their expiration date. Freezers and fridges don't even appear to be at the right temperature (and on several occasions their freezers have appeared to be broken, or emptied because they're broken)I'll recount one experience that still makes me throw up in my mouth a little when I retell it. A desperate day few months ago I was not feeling well, I just wanted something bland. So I went to the museum deli to get a box of rice and a box of pasta. Simple enough. Came home and made the rice absentmindedly. Once I started eating the rice, it was clear something was wrong, it tasted dodgy. I went back to the box and poured out some rice into a bowl and found hundreds of small teeny black bugs swarming the rice. GAG!!! I know. You threw up a little, didn't you? I then quickly opened the pasta right after that and found the same infestation there, too . Blechhh. Needless to say, I've never returned."
"I love the Quick Stop Deli. In many ways, it's similar to it's main competition, just down the block, Quick & Quality. I find it interesting that they both have quick in the name, but I am not sure if there is a story to it.Anyway, much of what they offer is comparable. The competition has a grill. But their sandwiches seem slightly better. I think it's just the preparation. But the main thing that is better hear is the lunch meat deals. They have deals where you get lunch meat and lunch cheese, a pound each, for about five or six bucks. You cannot beat this deal."
"(4) ~ very good food & service. Notes: You might have to ask them to get one of their "Famous" Chicken Pot Pies from the back Kitchen, as they sell out quickly! They also have typical grocery staples if needed.FOOD:** "Famous" Chicken Pot Pie(Individual Size) = (4.5) Very Good & Lots of Chicken! Oven Bake at 350 F for (20) minutes on a Tray.** Chicken Noodle Soup = (4.25) Very good, just like homemade:)** Capogiro Gelato(Chocolate) = (4) very good for "chocoholics;)** Bassett's English Toffee Crunch Ice Cream = (4) very good* Deviled Eggs = (3.5) good with a unique crunch from either celery or chives?* Italian Hoagie = (3.25) pretty good"
"Omg I LOVE this little gem. I'm a huge fan of Korean fan and to find a place that sells kimbab is a huge win. The snack varieties are off the charts too. I will be back next weekend, and make it here every chance I get. Great customer service and the food is really good! I got kimbab, and some sweets."
"Not one to break tradition, I'll open with the obligatory THE COP SHOP!To the best of my knowledge, this corner beer spot had the moniker bestowed upon it as a result of the previous owners being former police officers. This was all before my time but that's the version I've heard batted around the most. Good ol' local Philly lore. What can I say? It's a corner store that's open till 2:00am with beer and an assortment of other necessities. Snacks, drinks, few canned goods. Just about every trip I've made has been completely uneventful (except being able to holler "hello" to John, the clerk). There's something to be said for consistency, advantage Town Food Market. As far are convenience stores go, it's open later than most others in the area so it's a clutch player. The in-store ATM does come with a wallet lightening $2.50 fee but insomniacs & drunks can't be choosers."
""ACME" food market is a local food store chain. It's very popular in Philadelphia. I like the size and beauty of the store. It's not very organized in some Isles, but for the most part you can find what you're looking for. It partners with Starbucks, so that part was busy. The store also has a wine and beer house added. It's worth mentioning the modern look to the outside of the building. It's pretty much set apart from all the other buildings around. I liked the store, but felt a lot of things you I needed, they didn't have. I walked to two other stores and they had everything I needed for my football game. I still would come here to shop, it's comfortable, they just need more selection to make me a loyal customer ."
"I feel like I owe M&M a review based solely on their hoagies. The only spot where I'll order a hoagie in Manayunk and the guy gets it right everytime. Don't sleep on their hoagies!"
"I think this Yelp page is outdated bc this spot is now H & B New York Style Deli. Wanted to leave a review in case people find this looking for info about the new one. It's a mostly Peruvian menu and the food is incredible (and super affordable). I went in this morning expecting a standard corner deli and was delightfully surprised to walk out with a delicious order of arroz a la cubana. The space is clean and the people are nice. I'm excited to have this place in the neighborhood and hope they do well!"
"I went here the other day and I was truly delighted that a small but great store finally emerged in the area. This is definitely a major upgrade from the fresh grocer that once lived here. Upon entering, you already know it is better as there are shopping carts and a wood aesthetic on the floor. There is also a Starbucks immediately to your right when you enter. The food selection is also very good. There are so many great food options available and they have a good selection of these foods. Most things that you may need to cook dinner will be available here. I am also very happy with the organization and care that these food items are arranged. It is so much easier to find what you are looking for and there aren't random food in the wrong soots. The alcohol section is huge and many options are available. They also sell cake by the slice for only $5. It is very god!I am very happy with this new food store so close. It will definitely help the area and improve the quality of life here."
