Thao N. "Holy shit, people weren't lying when they say that everything is bigger in Texas. This restaurant is massive, what kind of buffet has a designated area reserved for valet parking? What type of person needs their car valet to attend a buffet? LOL. I was very excited to try my first Vietnamese buffet, didn't even know there was such a thing, but we're in Houston where it contains one of the largest Vietnamese population in the states. There's a variety of food; a street food station, dessert station, and noodle soup station. There's no need to order drinks since you can get a sugarcane or thai iced tea drink from the dessert station. The portions for the noodle soup station was just right, just so you can have room to sample more things. At the end of the day, it's still a buffet so it's buffet quality, but for $30 a person for AYCE, I can't complain with the value. Tell me about your experience if you've been here or is going to after reading this review:)"

Jazmin T. "I was super excited to try this place, the food looked so good online, so I grabbed a few coworkers and off we went! When we got here, it smelled so yummy inside and I loved how bright everything was. The waitress was so sweet and nice, and very attentive. Now the food, we ordered the chorizo fondue for the table, flavor wise, was just ok. It wasn't super melty, so it was really hard to get out of the bowl, and it only came with 3 tortillas, there was 4 of us! So we ate the rest with the chips. The chorizo was good and came with pico to top, but it just needed more seasoning overall for the whole dish. Then I ordered some tacos. The menu looked like they'd be street sized, small, so I asked if I could order 3 and she said yes. I order 2 fajita steak and 1 barbacoa. She said the barbacoa was her fave and I can see why. This is the only one that was truly flavored the best, was super juicy and tender and melted with each bite. The fajita steak was overcooked and lacked flavor as well. I like the onions, cilantro and lime on mine, but it didn't enhance the flavor at all. I love little places like this, so I'd like to give it another try and try something different. Only other thing as a takeaway is that you're charged for chips and salsa, and the one additional taco I ordered was $9. $5.99 for a sing le taco and +$3.99 to make it barbacoa. The one taco was more than the two, so pretty pricey in my opinion."

Priced a little high but worth it. Wifey and I ate here at least 18 years ago, it was great then as well as now. A lot of people were ordering off the menu but we wanted to try everything. No wonder most reviews still carry the old name. Either way, same style and same affordable priced buffet meal. I came here today was because I didn't want to fight traffic to eat spicy food at the other side of town. One thing I like about Bon KBBQ is the parking and location. All you can eat doesn't attract me. I would rather limit myself to 35 minutes or I'll be full like a potbelly pig. Two things I don't like about this restaurant are the ventilation and thickness of cuts. My shirt stunk like I worked in the kitchen cooking for hours. I normally like to cook my own food at the table. But this time, I worried about eating half cooked pork and chicken. Because I overcooked my meats, they were tough. Yikes. But, I do like the prepared food section. Bulgogi beef and kimchi fried rice were my favorite. I would go back to eat just those and skip raw meat section."

Zain R. "Nirvana is one of the nicer Indian buffets in Houston. I came by back in September to try their lunch buffet. The service is quick and the food is refilled quite often. They have the usual fare that you expect from an Indian buffet but what really impressed me is the fact that they had an assortment of salads, chutneys, and pakoras. There was also a large variety of chicken and a goat curry dish. Several types of rice available including biryani. Most surprising was the Indo-Chinese food that they had. I liked all the desserts that they had to offer. I forgot to take any pics while I was here because I was super hungry. Note to self: Parking can be a little tricky. Get early or time it correctly."

Jando S. "While Narin's has been a mainstay for the better part of two decades, I can't help but wonder if their heydey has passed. My last few visits have been a little lackluster, marred by the subpar service and the skimpy fixings of their popular but ultimately disappointing lunch buffet. The kinks need to be ironed out, but the potential is still here. The first thing one will notice is their parking situation. It's a narrow lot, followed a tight and awkward backlot. Coming here during non-peak times might be best to get an ideal spot. The door looks like something out of a medieval decor leading into a place that screams old school brasserie vibes. Beyond the white tablecloths, well dressed wait staff, and bar, it can feel strangely feel little stale. Heat haters (#1) will appreciate their ultra cold AC temps.Like many places, the lunch buffet is a good starter for all the foods they offer. At $18, it's a solid lunch time but, despite not offering as many items as other places. I was surprised at how infrequently it was maintained: spillage around the buffet should be wiped immediately but the staff couldn't be bothered to oversee it.Food wise, there were hits and duds. On the plus side, the saag paneer was wonderfully creamy, naan was crispy and fluffy without being too oily. I thought the gobi manchurian was sweet in a good way and was pleasantly surprised with their tasty daal makhani. However, the basmati rice was incredibly dry, which is what happens when the sternos are on for too long. The same issue was happening with the vegetable pakoras and the tandoori chickens were very subpar. The tikka masala was lacking all around and the same goes for the navratan korma.Same issues are consistent during all of my visits. I really do hope they iron out these issues because I do think they can get past this and hopefully return to the reputation that I've always heard about.__________(#1) Mmmm, ventilation. It's so cold, it's chilling down the food too."

Aruna K. "Trendy vegan has a very earthy feeling to it. The wooden benches, the art on the wall, everything sets a vegan - plant friendly vibe. Something in the ambiance connects you to a simpler, more appealing time. For the first time I was looking at a buffet outside of Indian food, and with everything vegan, it couldn't get more inviting....The buffet is priced at $16.50 per adult and $8.50 per child, but there is an ala cart menu too if you wish to eat something specific. The spread is pretty good, while most have the base in tofu, or soy or oats, the texture and the variety still captured my interest and the flavors gave them their individuality. It should be noted that the carbs in the form of steamed rice, or brown rice, or even noodles, come saltless , the salt content is obtained from the various side dishes. There was tofu nuggets, spring rolls, sautéed brinjal, stirred fried vegetables, roasted tofu etc., to name a few. It would have been helpful if they had put up little labels with names as reference. Enjoyed the food while listening to the soft incomprehensible Chinese music that was playing. It was soothing and added to the good food mood, which itself was light and healthy. Staff is very sweet especially if they know that you hold the wallet- jus kidding, limited staff but nice staff. Something on the menu but not part of the buffet is their smoothies, vegan thai tea and dumplings etc., which I definitely hope to try next time. There is definitely going to be a next time."

I went with a group after a bus tour around Hilcroft Gandhi Shopping District. The cleanliness however was a concern. I saw a critter crawling across the floor as I was about to sit down. As I poured a drink into the foam cups, I started to feel the leak on my hand. Holy sh... I grabbed another cup to catch the drip. The tables were not the cleanest. I guess they got so many leaky cups. Customers seemed to enjoy this place. It's a buffet. It was Saturday. The food seemed plentiful on the buffet line. Hot wings, pizza, chicken nuggets...I get it... you have to cater to the taste of some kids...but screw them kids! Make your child try new foods, especially vegetables, and don't give into their whining about what they don't like! They don't have a say since they are broke! Beggars can't be choosers right?!?I digress. There truly is a good assortment of items on the buffet. They labeled some food items...but the labels are for foods I already know! Come on now Son, I already know what an egg roll is bruh! Label the dish that looks like it has suction cups on it!You find the an enjoyable atmosphere and taste here. They earn an extra star for having a hibachi bar included in the price. They serve ice cream you have to scoop out... which is a good and bad thing. I couldn't get the image of everyone knuckle dragging through each tub of ice cream. They only had one scoop, so every ice cream flavor had the surrounding ice creams in it. That is not good if you have nut allergies! So many short people with long hair bent over the ice cream cooler to get their serving...I just decided to pass on ice cream. All in all, this place will scratch the Chinese buffet itch. I feel as though it's kind of pricey for a buffet, but I'm certain I got my money's worth out of them!"

The entrance has a mini market where you purchase Carribean seasonings, drinks and produce. I thought the restaurant was take out only at first until I spotted the dining area. The space is quaint and small I personally like the dining setup. There is also a stage setup in the dining area for comedy night. Puts me in the mind of the Houston Improv where you can dine and watch a comedy show. The food was great! I had the Stewed Chicken, Cabbage, Mango Salsa w/ a Roti and plantains. In addition to that I also ordered freshly squeezed pineapple juice and a beef meat pie. Here are my ratings on each dish:Meat Pie- I give it a 7 out of 10. The beef was more in a pate form than ground beef as I have had in the past and the pie could use more flavor.Pineapple Juice- Too sweet for me I would have liked a stronger pineapple flavor. 4 out 10Mango Salsa- Excellent ! 9 out of 10Cabbage- Had nice crunch complimented the meal well. 8 out of 10Plantains - cooked to perfection 10 out of 10Stewed Chicken- 9 out of 10 Great flavor. We weren't sure what to expect but after going to a few different spots serving this type of cuisine, we finally decided to try this place. We were looking for an AYCE place. There's a few Indian type restaurants in this area because were in the Mahatma Ghandi section of town so you had Indian, Afghani, Pakistani, Himalayan, Persian, all within a square mile radius, perhaps even bigger. You just had to choose your spot. The food was interesting. Very subtly spicy. Maybe my taste buds can take heat but not my sweat glands. It kind of just creeps up on you. Lots of different city style dishes but no chicken tuna masala or lamb curries which is my favorite. They did have the tandoori chicken and some fish. There was also goat, at least I assumed it was goat due to it being very bony with not much meat.We were served the naan bread even though that was also a slightly non-traditional not being very fluffy. It all had a nice flavor but I'm still looking for a really good traditional Indian buffet and I know I'll find one eventually. Dinner on a weekend will set you back about $18 which I feel is a little too high but know that lunch is cheaper.I could come back if my arm is twisted but probably not a place high on my list for Indian type cuisines."

So, 6:30-ish, there we were, grubbin' down and watching mom's novelas when I had a spoonful of haleem by my face and screeched: "Eyw. This smells like baby diaper!" Come around 11pm, the food is being put up when sister number 2 starts gagging and insisting everyone to smell the halleem. "It's bubbling!" Mom smells it and concludes to 1) throw it away 2) everyone is gonna get sick. When I read other reviews with people claiming to have gotten food poisoning from a restaurant, I don't worry about it too much because people consume food all day and there's really no telling which eatery could be at fault. But this was an incident where we had members of our family from different households all coming together for one shared meal from one restaurant ... and everyone gets sick. Even sister number 3, a few months pregnant had to go to the ER just to take precaution.I know things like this can happen (if I were a restaurant owner, this would constantly be on my mind, 'cause you never know.
