After too many months in SW Florida, I was eager to head north. Today, we (sort of) satisfied my craving for Jewish 'soul food.''Sort of' because the meat was too dry -- an element of fat adds flavor -- it was sliced too thin, and pastrami was almost indistinguishable from corned beef. Remembering the crisp and delicious fries from NYC delis, T and I shared an order. These were a little too soft, and a little too bland. I did however enjoy the pickle bar, and of course a can of Dr. Brown's Cel-Ray.Hymie's is a mainline institution. After hearing accolades, I was happy to finally see for myself. Good, but if you're expecting Katz's, forget it! Btw, a few years ago my daughter brought home blintzes from Hymie's. They were fabulous: cheese-filled, with a fruit compote. Next on the agenda: Hymie's for breakfast.

food was tasty, but not sure if its worth the price. I hope it's not a tourist trap but the sandwiches were good. The dessert we had which was a massive piece of cake was extremely sweet. Would probably come back to try this place out again though :)The service was ok, they were giving us a smaller slice but we saw how much it was and how the slices were all uniform except for the one they were trying to give us, so we opted for the other one.

I know this iconic deli has a long history and many fans but I've never been impressed when I've tried it every several years over many decades, each time full of hope it's improved. The corned beef had chewy, gristly bits -- a former employee said they don't trim it properly. Their chopped liver was ghastly sweet. (Same former employee said they switched to cheaper, sweeter mayo.) The rye bread was cut so thin it disintegrated from the moisture of their sandwich. Just not any reason to return when there are better deli options to be had. (But not at Murray's across the street as they both have the same owner for a while now. Ironically, people are loyal to one or the other, but they are essentially the same.)Disappointing. Again. Not awful, but not a destination.

Horrible service. I have come here serval times, and I cannot seem to get an order that is correct. Ordered a turkey Ruben 3rd time this has happened. Made wrong! I'm totally disappointed. Asked for a Ruben no kraut.. I end up with a hot turkey sandwich!! No! Spoke with Dominic, and he had no explanation nor a fix in the moment as they were closing.. telling me to come in tomorrow. I'm hungry now and by tomorrow I will not want to see you. Money was refunded, but why not just make the sandwich correct from the beginning?

This place just never disappoints. No frills and the ambiance is like a different kinda diner... with a deli/pastry store on the side (p.s. order some cookies or salads - they are yummy). The waitresses are lovely and the food is solid. We have come here more than a few times and it never ceases to please me. The wait can be hit or miss - you either get in immediately or have to wait - but the wait is worth it. In my opinion you need to have the pastrami sandwich or the corned beef sandwich, I've had both. Most places that serve this type of meat give you a lot of fat - this place, it's very lean and juicy and just amazing. Sliced to order. Order it on Rye and enjoy. They have a few specials like with Russian dressing and coleslaw. I've tried it all- fabulous. My better half has gotten a chicken sandwich it was good - but go for the goods in terms of the pastrami/corned beef. And don't sleep on the Matzo ball soup - it's so delicious. Also the pickle bar!!!! (included with your meal)

this is the family meet up brunch place. It's always packed. Food is extremely consistent. Well-made and wait. Time is never too long. Extremely reasonable prices as well as they did not go above and beyond with inflation. Often we get treats to go that are always great. pickle bar is always an added bonus. I know that the males in our family love the pickles. Staff is so friendly and it's very clean. good for the family and capable of accommodating large parties !

We visited this place after church on a Sunday and had a wonderful experience. The service was exceptional, and we never felt rushed, even when we lingered for a conversation after most of the crowd had left. Coming from New York, we truly appreciated the care put into the food. I was thrilled to see knish on the menu--it brought back cherished childhood memories of my mom getting knishes for my brother and me. The pancakes were enormous, and the pickle bar was a delightful and fun addition. Overall, it was a fantastic visit, and we look forward to coming back!

Our server was super nice and attentive. Food came out fast and was delicious! Atmosphere was typical deli with art depictions of their patrons on the wall. Our booth was dedicated to one of their long time patrons.

We were on a visit to Philly from GA and happened upon Hymie's. Nostalgic Jewish deli that we really don't have back home (they try, just not as well). We had blintzes, lox, eggs, and onions. Great! Our server was certainly the friendliest I've ever encountered in a deli of this nature. We enjoyed it so much, we visited again on our way out of town. Let's just say "We got chai at Hymie's!"
