It's a bit removed from the main room (need to walk through a tunnel area to get there) buts it's quieter and relaxing.Food: 9/10! The food here was really good! I got the charred broccoli caesar salads as recommended by three waitress. It came out first and it was really nice! Great flavor and charr on the broccoli and it had pieces of fried polenta cubes that elevated the dish! I also had the spaghetti and meatballs! The sauce and pasta were great! Seasoned very nicely and cooked perfectly. The meatballs were good, large and filling. I would prefer them a bit more seasons but mixing a bit of the cheese definitely rounded the flavorPrice: $46 total (including tip). I was very full at the end and took about 1/3 of the meal back to my hotel to eat later. Didn't mind the price at all especially since I got two dishes"

I've dined here at least 5x and everything stays consistent.I took my dad here for his birthday and he is still raving about the food and how great Giorgio was. We ordered the mussels and clams as our app and that may have been the best thing I ate that night. The broth was we made with cognac and cream. A bit of sweetness and absolutely addicting. I wanted to soak all the bread in that sauce. We both ordered the specials for our entree. I got the branzino and my dad got the Parmesan crusted pork chop. My branzino was cooked perfectly, was light and packed a lot of flavors. My dad's pork chop was enormous and rich with flavor. For dessert, we shared the tiramisu which never disappoints. This is a great restaurant and one of the best in Philly. It is always a full house, tight and loud so keep that in mind. It was comfortable, feeling like we were eating on the porch without being on a porch. The service was attentive and we could easily have a pleasant conversation. To start, we ordered the the grilled broccolini caesar and a fungi pizza to share. The fungi pizza was excellent, coming with oyster mushroom, truffle bechamel, caramelized onion and taleggio. The wood oven put just the right amount of bite in the crust. I highly recommend it as an appetizer. However, the star of the evening was the broccolini caesar. It was perfectly grilled and the peperoncino, bread crumb and ricotta salata perfectly complimented the broccolini without overwhelming it. I could have just had another order for my entree and called it a night. It is that good!!But instead, for my entree I selected the Rigatoni that features chicken liver, cipollini onion and sage. My daughter told me this ias one of the dishes they are known for, and it is quite good. I asked her boyfriend to describe the difference between a cipollini onion and a yellow onion. I'm still waiting for a response. While I waited, I enjoyed this delicious pasta. Be warned that the chicken liver is rich. If you don't like liver, this might not be the dish for you. However if you do...get it.My wife enjoyed Mandilli di Seta, which is a pasta with basil pesto, toasted pinenuts, tuscan pecorino. Although she was still full from the pizza, she still powered through the pasta, thus ensuring a peaceful sleep train ride back to DC.All in all, a great meal. I can see us coming back again, as there are so many entrees that I would love top explore. Well done Osteria!Still waiting for closure on the onion quiz..."

Ju L. "Last weekend, my husband and I enjoyed a lovely date night at Vetri. The last time we ate at Vetri was 3 years ago, right before the pandemic. There have been some changes and new additions to the tasting menu. We definitely had more variety and more food before. Even though we got less food from the tasting menu this time around, the cuisine was more elevated. The complimentary pre-dinner bites from 3 years ago were these local raw vegetables. There's nothing wrong with local raw vegetables, but it just didn't make any sense as part of Vetri's tasting menu. Last weekend's complimentary pre-dinner bites were raw oysters with salmon roe and a celery root soup, which made more sense and was definitely an upgrade from before.I did notice service was slow to start and reminded me of the slow service from 3 years ago. Since we were both starving, we ordered the foie gras pastrami with toasted Brioche as an add-on and thought that would arrive quicker than the rest of our food. Eventually, the foie gras pastrami with toasted Brioche arrived, and it was so good. After that, the service picked up. The house bread with house made 'nduja was delicious. Our server didn't mind that my husband asked for another serving of 'nduja. For our appetizers, my husband had the torched Hiramasa Crudo, and I had the Potato Burik with broccolini and caviar. Nothing out of the ordinary, but we both enjoyed our dishes. Then came the pasta course. The spinach gnocchi and almond tortellini classic split and the chestnut agnolotti were spot on. You can always count on Marc Vetri's pastas. After the pasta courses came our meat dishes. I had the seared venison, and my husband had the smoked baby goat. I loved my seared venison. It was perfectly prepared and I could have totally eaten another one. Desserts were a molten pistachio cake and rice cake. The Molten pistachio cake was delicious. My husband wished he didn't get the rice cake. I definitely prefer the new and improved version of Vetri. Even though I didn't walk out with a stuffed belly like last time, I enjoyed every single bite."

When I mentioned L'Angolo to several coworkers who were familiar with South Philly, every one of them gave rave reviews. So, I was really looking forward to the evening out. L'Angolo was a fantastic winner winner chicken dinner. But we both had seafood...The restaurant is tiny and intimate with about 15 or so tables, and the Terra Cotta style decor is nice and bright. It can get noisy with the tables close together but everyone is having a great time. Lots of BYOB on each table, and my friend and I were in and out in a little over an hour but they figure an hour and half for two people. With the small amount of tables turnover has to be efficient. Our server was quick and friendly giving all the specials of the evening off the tip of his tongue, and I just wanted to order every one of them. But, I went instead with the octopus salad and mixed seafood grill. My friend also had the octopus salad and chose the pappardelle pasta and lobster tail. All were outstanding. The tentacles of octopus were tender in the lemon and olive oil with some greens and tomato. My mixed grill seafood also had more octopus and a large piece of salmon along with some shrimp and potatoes. Nothing was overdone. My friend loved the homemade pappardelle, gravy (sauce), and the lobster tail was huge. We continued our celebration with some dessert. Chocolate mousse cake for me and a pistachio ricotta cake for my friend. We both had espresso, and the desserts were quickly eaten. We killed our BYOB bottle of Verdi and small bottle of Reisling which saved some money.Overall, we had a great meal and definitely would return. My friend did say he got lucky with the reservation as this place consistently fills up quickly. $200 for two included tax and tip for two salads, two mains, two desserts, and two espresso. Mike C. "A true diamond in the rough. I came here for my father's seventy-fifth birthday on Tuesday night when they opened at 4pm. We both busted out from a poker tournament at Philadelphia Live! Hotel and Casino and did not feel like hanging around the casino aka lose more money while waiting for the casino restaurants to open.My dad mentioned a few Italian restaurants in the city that we usually frequent when in South Philly as we debated which place to venture off to, they consisted of: Ralph's (which has been going downhill for quite a number of years from its hay day), Villa Di Roma (good South Philly Staple), when I interjected and said lets go someplace special its you're seventy-fifth for crying out loud and I will treat. It was settled we were off to Dante & Luigi's, which I have been to twice before and both times it was five stars all around. We started with an appetizer of whole stuffed Calamari. The dish comes with Calamari Rings bathed in a delicious red sauce along with one giant Calamari tube stuffed with shrimp. I have gotten a version of this before here with crabmeat however the server informed me the price of crabmeat has gone through the roof so they have replaced the option of crabmeat with shrimp (o well, can't win them all right).Moved on to an order of Bruschetta, which had eggplant, Vidalia Bermuda sweet onions, and tomatoes over the toast that was crostini in nature as it was it was baked to a crunchy delivering vehicle for the ingredients aboard. On to the Mains. Waiter talked up the Sunday Gravy Pasta Meal that they were supposedly offering on Tuesday and I was sold on it. He described it as an authentic old school Italian sauce with Italian meat cooked in with a sweet sausage and a meatball with pasta of choice. When he described what Perciatelli pasta was I started clapping my hands lol no joke. He responded, I think by that response we found a winner!Yesterday was my first introduction to Perciatelli, the waiter explained it was a lot like Bucatini (my favorite type of pasta). What are the main differences you ask from Perciatelli vs Bucatini? Research below, Size: Perciatelli is thin and long, while Bucatini is thicker and shorter.Shape: Bucatini is hollow, with a small hole running through the center, while Perciatelli has a solid center.Flavor: Perciatelli takes in more sauce due to its thickness, while Bucatini serves best for soup dishes.Texture: Perciatelli is thicker and more chewy, while Bucatini has a thinner spaghetti-like consistency.Still with me?Now the bad news is after coming back from the kitchen, I was informed they did away with the Sunday Gravy Dish for today. I went with a green pepper entree that is stuffed with: Veal, meat, not sure what else to be honest but it came with a side of Penne and he brough me a half portion size of Perciatelli (thank God, as I could not leave there without trying this new pasta to me).The Perciatelli did live up to my expectation and is now my favorite type of pasta with Bucatini not far behind. My dad went with the Seafood Cioppino (Lobster tail, Calamari, Shrimp, Mussels & Clams over Linguini, in a spicy Marinara or Bianco sauce). This is the dish I had in my rearview mirror and would normally get but I wanted to venture off my usual path just a bit. My dad loved it and ended up taking home some as the order of two appetizers was probably not needed as we had a mountain of food between the two of us.I forced my dad to share a dessert with me as it was his seventy-fifth and just feels wrong to leave without a dessert for any birthday really. We went with the Ricotta Cannoli with Chocolate Chips (Ricotta Cheese is highlighted with Chocolate Chips and Hazelnut Liqueur). Freaking amazing! We were able to eat half of it and brought the rest home. Pro-Tip : Bring cash. The server writes two amounts when your bill comes, it is a 10% discount if you pay in cash.I have to come back here to try the Sunday Gravy, only this time I will come on a Sunday to make sure they have it : )As always people SYOY!!!"

The pea soup was spot on Third course - the homemade pasta was cooked perfectly but lacked flavor. The veal was fair but the lemon chicken was tasty. We asked if we could sit inside with our meal, but they rudely said no and that we had to order inside to be able to sit inside. Didn't know what difference it would've made considering it was empty. We ended up eating in the car. Onto the food- this is legit my favorite pizza! The crust was the perfect amount of crispness. The sauce was saucy. I prefer a little liquidity than tomato flavored. Melograno has great food, terrific service, and a cozy and welcoming ambience. In addition, it's also a BYO! In my opinion the lower ratings stem from Restaurant Week that can be the bane of any established restaurant. First, the restaurant is inundated with reservations that fill them up and often they can't do a 90 minute turn on a table backing up other reservations that either piss off those waiting, or those seated when the management tries to expedite their departure. Also, if there are any hiccups with food coming out, this has the potential to have an effect on quality as the backend tries to keep up with demand. Those who have ever dined out on Valentine's Day, know these problems all too well. Come to Melograno on a normal day and experience this wonderful restaurant in its true glory!"

Having a dine in area and a cafe/take out area in the small space they have helps them make the most profit. I don't personally know how their entrees are but their pizza is delicious. Thin but flavorful and artisan. Rione was better to me but Rione is no longer around. Alice is great to still have around. Rize in Broomall and West Chester, while no competition for Alice, is also artisan and tends to be slightly greasier. Maybe I like Rize more because of its grease partially :/ but Alice holds its own.The TooGoodToGo is very hard to get but nice to see a pic of. You get random pieces cold and you are even asked if you have any food needs which they are not obligated to ask you. The drink options have a good variety. Pear was refreshing albeit typically small quantity and the chino was a typical bittersweet orange flavored soft drink. We both started with the beef tartare (delicious and loved the addition of the chips!)For the primi my mom had the rigatoni and I had the saffron rolato (?). My dish was great, a little small but flavorful. My moms rigatoni was honestly kind of undercooked in a weird way I wasn't a huge fan. For our secondi I got the branzino and I didn't love it. The tomato sauce overpowered the taste and lightness of the fish. And this could've been because of the dishes I ordered but both the pasta and the fish being heavily tomato sauce based wasn't my favorite aspect, I was hoping for more depth with the flavors. My moms swordfish was great though I wish I had gotten that instead. Dessert was lovely, olive oil cake and tiramisu. Service was great, no complaints there. Ambiance was nice, it felt fancy enough.
