"This place has been on my list for some time and I was fortunate to visit at a downtime. Amongst a city full of pizza shops, Down North stands out among the greats.ENVIRONMENTThe restaurant is relatively easy to find and seats no more than 5 or so people in the shop. The wait was a tad excessive which I credited to the food being "made with love".FOOD I love a good piece of focaccia! Another contributor commented that their pizza can be likened to focaccia which I would find to be incredibly accurate. The "Detroit" style was incredibly flavorful accompanied by a heaping of toppings(I settled on the "I'm A Boss"). I will admit the fries left a bit much to be desired but not enough to influence my rating. If you're based anywhere in North Philly between Farimount and Erie Ave, I can confidently say Down North is among the top three picks for the area. Happy eating!"
"Pete's! I went to the one location nearest to broad street cause I was so hungry after a cocktail party. It looked like your run of the mill kind of pizza shop. Gus, coowner of the shop, was working that day. He recommended the Nutella Sugar Knots cause I was craving dessert. Then I realized I should probably get food food so ended up with the vegetarian quesadilla. Then when I checked in Yelp gave me a free cookie (yes Gus! It is the correct location the cookie comes up for...not the grays ferry one!)The cookie was average. Pretty big and full of chunks. I wish it would have been warmed a bit. The Nutella Sugar Knots are pretty solid! Full of confectionery sugar on top. The knots are very soft....might be better to make it a little crispy on the outside. The vegetable quesadilla was very good. I really liked how it came with a salad and I think it was the perfect amount of greens mixed with cheese. Overall the food is average at a 3 but the experience of watching Gus deems this place a 5. People make a restaurant and seeing his love for the restaurant was exciting!"

"Delicious fried chicken! I recently went here to get the tikku chicken to go. The ambiance is plain but plenty of seating. Given the spiciness of the wings, I wish the store had pitchers of water available for customers if needed. I got my chicken within the promised 15 minutes and absolutely loved it. The chicken was crispy, flavorful, sweet, and spicy-make sure to have plenty of napkins! Although a bit pricy at over $18 after tax, I got a good portion. CM Chicken also has the added advantage of being by Drexel's campus and a four-block walk to 30th St. Station (and the best-looking restaurant nearby if you need food)."
"The food is great and the customer service is on point. This place is an absolute must try. I've only had a couple items on the menu but I can tell they know what they are doing. This is the kind of place where you know the cooks care about their food!"
"This neighborhood bar is a gem...IFYKYK!Been here many times, couldn't believe I haven't reviewed yet!Always a solid draft beer list...the food choices from the Nachos to the wings...the food is consistently good! The service is good and bartenders are easy going! Gotta keep Union Tap House in the rotation...because I enjoy the laidback patrons and that is a win when you just want to have a cool night out!"
"I love love love Tsaocaa'a slushes! We come here as often as possible, as the slushes just cannot be beat by any other place. Having tried Vivi, Teado, and Kungfu, I will always choose to come to Tsaocaa over those. The staff is quick and friendly, and the drinks are delicious. We don't love sweet drinks, but when you do 0% sugar, there is still a slight sweetness from the juice and jellies. I recommend the grapefruit, strawberry, and mango slushes, as they are the most refreshing ones on a hot summer day. They do have indoor seating available if you are comfortable. I haven't tried the chicken yet, but it does look delicious."
"Waited 40 minutes for order (pizza and wings) when they told us 20. Crust is way too soft Would have expected the pizza to be hotter considering that was what we were waiting on. Just a regular pizza with American cheese slices on it... was expecting more. Have had better Philly Cheesesteak pizzas (LaScala's just a few blocks away has a good one). Wish they had cooked the meat with the cheese like a true cheesesteak has.Wings are what you would expect. Disappointed in the pizza."
"This review is for take out. I was looking for a highly rated place for Philly cheese steak nearby and found Tony G's. I picked up their 12" Philly cheese steaks with melted provolone and grilled onions for $11.50 each and also pub style fries and onion rings. Two people can easily share a 12". The cheesesteaks were good and overstuffed; I'd rate them a 4.25 and the fries and onion rings were greasy (as you'd except) and I'd give them 4 stars. Prices were reasonable for the oversized portions. The place itself is an awesome looking dive bar. The type of place locals swear by. I'm sure I'd rate it higher if I had a drink and food onsite. Will have to try it another time. Parking lot and outdoor dining area."
"Ordered delivery tonight after walking by this place so many times and never stopping in, and I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the chicken sandwich with cheese and a side of onion rings as well as the crispy chicken bowl with chix rice and a side of mild creamy sauce. Yes, I, one person, ordered all that. I couldn't decide what I wanted. It's been a long week, okay?!The sandwich was delicious. The chicken was still pretty crispy even for delivery and the pickle, cheese, lettuce, and onion game added some class, texture, and flavor. I had ordered the onion rings because why not and those could have been crispier but they were still good. I dipped a few in the mild creamy sauce. The bowl was also pretty fantastic once I added that mild and creamy sauce in. I don't know what magic that sauce is made out of but I thought it was a great mix of heat and flavor. I'm not too sure about the partitioned takeout container because it made it difficult to mix it all together, but I got a couple solid bites of chicken, rice, vegetables, and sauce together before I fell into a food coma. I like the crisp on the chicken. The vegetables were more than just broccoli and carrots, which was fine by me. I love me some squash. Overall, not my favorite chicken bowl in the city (could use some more crunchy texture like some lettuce on the bottom maybe?) BUT still a solid contender. The sandwich was definitely my favorite and I would totally order that again with some of that saaaaauce. I'm interested to try their wings sometime too and maybe some other sauces. Solid chicken spot!"
"Pre-Covid I was here at least three or four times a month. But then I moved away for a bit but I'm back in Delco and back going to 1010. Over the years I've had their salads, cheesesteaks and some of their pizza. Every single meal has been tasty and great.Today my daughter was here from the city and wanted to order takeout so I suggested 1010. She called the order in and drove to pick it up.I got a text from her when she was there telling me how friendly everybody was there. She wasn't used to that because of living in the city but I told her that this is a normal occurrence there. Every customer is treated as if they are their best customer. They really have the customer service thing down. Today, we opted for a chef salad and a Cobb salad. Both were awesome. Both were packaged well and made it safely home in the car without a mess. You can't go wrong with 1010. Give it a try."
"Cheated on my beloved Kung Fu Tea on Saturday and went to Tsaocaa only cuz Manayunk does not have a Kung Fu Tea.I have to say the Thai milk tea here is pretty great, and might I even say, better than Kung Fu Tea's Thai milk tea. This was my first time at Tsaocaa and price wise it's comparable to Kung Fu Tea, maybe a little more expensive, but barely. I like their tall plastic cups too. Probably not the most environmental friendly but they are just a little fancier than the other cups from the other Bubble Tea shops.I don't think they have an app where you can customize and order your drinks ahead of time, but the staff was quick, and I was in and out of there in 5 minutes."
"First time trying Bonchon and dining in at the restaurant chain. The atmosphere was casual and appeared to be clean. My friend and I were seated right away. Our server was nice. We shared the fried rice with bulgogi, fried chicken wings (fried just right), and french fries. It was a lot of food, and I was surprised that everything tasted really good. I had a cocktail that was just okay.Would definitely eat here again!"

I've been meaning to get here for a long while, probably since they opened a couple years ago. I'm on board with the mission and love the idea of a restaurant at 28th and Lehigh that is worth going out of your way. Finally got here and was not disappointed.Fries were spectacular. Cauliflower wings were spectacular (I now know to get a side of the excellent house-made buffalo sauce because more is more with good hot sauce). Got the Uptown Vibes pizza and it was - no surprise - spectacular. A really unique take on Detroit-style pizza. As other reviews noted, the dough has an almost focaccia-esque tang and chew, which I really liked. The Detroit-style burnt edges were there and they were delicious. One pizza (with the wings and fries) was more than enough for two adults to eat too much and still have leftovers.Service was friendly and military-level precise: I arrived at 4:41 for my scheduled 4:45 takeout order and waited exactly (probably to the second) four minutes for my order.Highly recommended for both the food and the mission. I would love to see more small businesses (particularly restaurants with excellent grub) orient themselves toward effectuating meaningful change in traditionally underserved communities.

CM chicken is one of my favorite Korean chicken spots in Philly. I highly recommend every one visit if they're in the area! Their vibe is casual and there are plenty of seats for small and bigger groups. It is not a full service restaurant, so you order up front and wait for your food so tips are encouraged but not required! The chicken is always made to order so the food is very fresh, hot, and crispy. For a very reasonable price you can get a bunch of food. I recommend their tikkudak and crispy gizzard! Make sure to order a side of the pickled radishes because it pairs perfectly with the chicken! Highly recommend this place! They also have good deals that they promote on their instagram so make sure to follow them @cmchicken_philly

This is probably the biggest disappointment I've had with an establishment when it comes to wings. *sighs*My BF & I were too lazy to cook dinner one night, so we decided to order from Chase's Hop Shop based on the raving reviews. We ordered the Salt & Pepper Wings, Soy Sauce Wings, and Jim's Fries with Cheese Steak for pick up.Let's start with the good shall we? The fries were pretty good. Slightly a little too salty for me, but overall flavorful & decent. Now, let's get to the bad: the wings...You know how when you go to the beach and you end up getting all this sand stuck to your skin from being wet? Well that's how much salt there was on these wings that you can see so much of the texture like it was sand. It was so bad. The Salt & Pepper Wings literally tasted like you're eating tablespoons of white pepper & salt. The soy sauce wings literally tasted like soy sauce; nowhere close to Korean Soy Sauce Wings. The wings were so disappointing, I wanted to throw everything up. I know, dramatic, but how would you feel if you wasted money and stomach space on food that tastes terrible? When we picked up the food, it appeared that the owner wasn't present. You know the saying: When the Owner's away, the employees will play. We got played alright. T_T Never ordering from here again.

Quality service, good wings, good crowd. Out of the way of Manayunk Main St but a good time. Wish they still served food as I wanted to try their burger but it was getting too late for real food when my friends and I arrived. Their hard lemonade was nice but not knocking me out of the park. I suspect their beer was probably superb but I tend toward sweeter beers and I never know what to order. Most US options seem more toward the bitterish or sourish side. Almost every time I've asked staff anywhere (not particularly here) for suggestions, they are always good but not what I am looking for. Feels like a bar that avoids the typical college kids that seem to get overly drunk as it isn't as easy to walk to or notice if you aren't already in that particular vicinity.

The fried chicken I tried was a crispy delight, with a perfectly seasoned and flavorful exterior. The juicy and tender meat inside added a wonderful contrast. It's a savory treat that satisfies the taste buds - a definite must-try for fried chicken enthusiasts!

If I could give this place 10 stars I would. Best sandwiches we have had on our entire vacation. These are huge, packed with flavor, and the meat is tender and juicy.Service was incredible! The food was made fast. The owner/chef came out to check on how we liked our meal. The bartender was upbeat and cheery. They gave us tons of helpful info about where we were headed next on our trip. Ambiance is nice little mom and pop kind of vibe. Very relaxed environment. Great people and wonderful food! If you are around the area you have to stop in and try these sandwiches!!

"I first saw this food cart last week and I was like "Ouuuu they make Caribbean food?? i gotta to give that a try at least once." I expected the seasoning to be slightly watered down since we're in center city, the portions to be a bit small because once again, its center city because I'm sure renting in a prime time spot isn't cheap for carts. Surprisingly, the portions weren't as small as I thought they would be and some of the platters were made ready-to-go! I'm used to neighborhood Caribbean spots running out of food fast or taking 20 min per order, but they were pretty fast and the price point was reasonable. ($8 with a free soda for jerk chicken, plantains, cabbage, and rice in a big bowl). They could've put way more plantains and cabbage in there instead of rice and beans, but the flavor was pretty solid. The chicken is boneless which was convenient imo.I'll def be back here to try the Oxtails and the beef patties. They were out of oxtails. As any good Caribbean spot should be. Pro tip: If you walk up to a Caribbean restaurant / food truck after 3 pm and they still have every single item on the menu available, turn back out the door lol all the good good spots run outta food early lol"
"May take a while for them to answer the phone, so I use the online ordering system. Usually order Wings & Cheesesteaks from here. Both have been great. The wings are big and meaty and the sauce is on point. They have tons of sauces but I stick with Buffalo and the Cam Newton (Carolina BBQ & Hot Sauce Mixed) Always great for the games. Just sucks they do not open until 1PM on Sundays. i like to not miss any of the game. Cheesesteaks are very meaty and well seasoned. The roll which makes any sandwich is crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. With the right amount of fried onions and cheese makes for one tasty meal. If in the area give them a try, I am glad I did."
"Get the curry goat. I don't care if you don't like goat or don't like curry, just get the curry goat. It's phenomenal! The brown stew chicken is also absolutely delicious. The sides tasted very complimentary and I absolutely loved my kale and collard greens, they were made perfectly. My husband wasn't keen on his Mac and cheese but I thought it was good. Stars are only reduced due to the prices, which are kind of astronomical, but the food itself is superb. Will be ordering again."
"Ordered online for pickup. Luckily was able to find parking. Ordered a lunch special - cheesesteak wrap that came with fries and a soda. Very good."
"Doro Bet was on my list of new spots to try for a while. I've tried most famous wing spots in the city, but Ethiopian fried chicken was a new one to me. I visited for dinner on a Saturday evening. The restaurant has a fast casual setup. Orders are placed at the counter, and your name is called once your food is ready. The signature fried chicken they're known for is offered as a 3-piece half chicken or 6-piece whole chicken. I liked the simplicity of either the Aliche (mild lemon pepper) or Awaze (spicy Berbere) flavor options. Both are dry coatings on top of buttermilk fried chicken. I was with family, so we decided to order three whole chickens: two Awaze and one Aliche. We also ordered some Addis Fries. Our food was ready in about 20 minutes. I was impressed after only a few bites, which means a lot for someone as picky as I am about fried chicken. The breading had the perfect thickness. It stuck to the chicken very well, which you don't always get at other chicken spots. The dry coating was surprisingly very enjoyable. I'm not a huge lemon pepper fan, so I preferred the spicy coating over the mild. The Addis Fries were solid; crinkle fries don't usually do it for me, but the spice and crispness were spot on. Doro Bet provided a great experience overall. Their chicken taps into a specific niche that hasn't been done by other spots in Philly. I wish I had tried it sooner, but I'm sure I'll be back in the near future."
"If Korean Fried Chicken & Wings are your desire, then Chicko Tako in the Market at the Fareway in Chestnut Hill should be high in your list of destinations. Not only do you receive the benefits of excellent double fried cluckers in amazing sauces, but also the added bonus of being in a multiverse street fair community market that includes a brewery/pizza outlet, bakery, cafe, sushi shack, green grocer and butcher. So, you can cobble together the meal of your choice with ease without moving more than 100 feet in any direction, and dine in a common eating area shared by all. Delicious and impressive. My 6 wing plate with sweet & spicy sauce took about 20 minutes to prepare. I was handed a buzzer to alert me when ready. In the meantime I secured a pint of pumpkin ale from Chestnut Hill Brewery as well as a seat at a long table with views overlooking an outdoor dining area. The place was crowded with folks doing more or less the same as me. When my buzzer started vibrating I asked the people next to me to watch my beer while I picked up the wings. They were happy to help me out. The wings were on a beautiful rectangular ceramic plate on top of a tray. They glistened a dark red amber glow from the perfectly pitched sauce covering them. Three small pieces of celery and tiny cup of sour cream completed the meal. Exchanging the buzzer for the tray, I returned to my seat. The six wings were crunchy and meaty enough to sate me. The sauce was indeed both sweet and hot, and twisted my taste buds playfully. The cool, pungent ale was an excellent chaser, cutting through the heaviness of the sauce just enough to enjoy it again with each piece devoured. Chiko Tako has both wings and half/whole cut up birds for sale, and they do primarily takeout from their stand in the market. The people there are friendly and efficient. They know they are a success, yet it has not gone to their heads. Especially in combination with the other possibilities in the market, Chicko Tako is a great place for a street food snack."
"Coming from New York, I consider myself somewhat of a pizza connoisseur and I've been long searching for a decent slice in Philly ever since moving here in September. Little did I know that what I'd been looking for was right around the corner from where I live. I'd passed Tetra Pizza Grill dozens of times in my travels and it always seemed to be a busy place, with a constant stream of people running in and out with their takeout orders. Not sure why I waited so long to try it, but during my latest craving for a slice, I decided to give them a try. Great call!I ordered the Detroit Rittenhouse pie, which was a deeper dish, small, rectangular pizza with pepperoni, red sauce and cheese. The pizza had just come out of the oven when I arrived and it was slightly on the burnt and crispy side, which actually made it even more delicious. There's nothing worse than an undercooked pizza, so I was very happy with my selection.I ordered easily through their website and it was ready to be picked up in no time. I was greeted by a friendly counterperson and served with a smile as I perused the many tempting varieties of pizza displayed in their case. (Reason enough to come back!) The pizzeria is just that, a nice old-fashioned pizza joint, clean and comfortable, though it's not exactly the spot for a dinner night out on the town. Overall, this is definitely one of the better pizzas I've experienced here in Philly!"
"Went with my lady friend that suggested this place. She said a few of her coworkers told her about it.I had a surf an turf burger. It was freshly cooked beef with 2 very large shrimp on top plus lettuce, tomatoes and red onions. Also had beefsteak fries with a creamy white cheese sauce.Nice and friendly ppl at the front counter as well"
"Great service, orders are always ready on time and the steaks and shakes are awesome."
"Best spot for late night chicken, pizza, side veggies, dessert cakes & ICE CREAM!!! They're open til 4am & also deliver via Uber eats as well. The staff is always nice when I stop thru. Never had a problem!!!******UPDATE******WELP...I just paid for a small cup of melted ice cream. I had to eat it fast or I would have needed a straw. This guy barely had the ice cream reach the top of the cup & told me to buy a medium if I wanted more. I THINK NOT!!! No more ice cream from here. Now, small ice cream used to be $1.50-1.60 (depending on who was working) in a bigger cup. Now it's $2 in a smaller cup. I'm done. Smh"
"I always have an excellent experience ordering from them. Excellent burgers, great pizza and terrific Gyros!! Something for the whole family."
"Man, I really don't enjoy leaving negative reviews but these wings were especially bad. They were all very tiny, and therefore super dry. I felt like I was chewing tiny bits of sandpaper. Half of the bones were broken & they are definitely frozen (black bones). I also got this tiny little nub thing instead of a 10th wing so that was a bummer. The sauce (nuclear & suicide) were both good with a nice kick hence the 2 stars. We ordered delivery and it was pretty pricey too- for the cost I was expecting some decent size wings (& to get all my 10 wings vs a weird nubbin)."
"I ordered from Keystone and am glad I did. They had a free delivery deal, and the prices were pretty fair. The baked ziti had lots of cheese and was not bad. The salad had huge pieces of veggies and a lot of feta, which I liked a lot. And each item came with nice, soft bread. The delivery person was also very friendly. I'd order from here again for sure."
"What an awesome little restaurant. Have been here twice for lunch and both times it was outstanding. I had Pad Thai the first time and Red Curry the second. If you are looking for a good, authentic Thai restaurant, check them out."
"Service was very good. The seafood fried rice was good. Didn't seem to be the freshest, but taste was good and overall very solid meal"
"Very fast service! I was excited to see a poke bowl shop open up in the area. It's also located in a super convenient location with plenty of parking. There's also limited seating indoors and outdoors in case you'd rather eat in the store, but most of the times I've gone, it was mostly for take out.The first time I visited with my friend, we both got the Big Bang poke bowl, which is the most similar to the poke I used to get when I lived Hawaii. It was a nice throw back to nostalgic times.Definitely a great new hole in the wall shop in town worth checking out!"
"I've ordered delivery from Frannie Nick's twice since covid-19. Each time I felt like I was eating a good home cooked meal. The standout star both times was the cheesesteak eggrolls. They are delicious. As good as you will find anywhere in the city. That's the only dish that reminds you that you have ordered from a restaurant. The fried chicken, macaroni & cheese, and string beans have that homemade taste that makes you feel like you made yourself the plate of food at a family dinner. In this era of covid-19, when a lot of sould food family dinners have been canceled, Frannie Nick's really hits the spot when I'm craving soul food."
"I Order From Johns Literally Almost Every Single Night. Not Every Night Is Perfect. But Majority Of The Time My Order Is Hot And On Time! I Get A Weird Order. Large Pizza With Sausage & Pepperoni. & RAW WHITE ONION. Please Put The Onion On After The Pizza Comes Out The Oven. They Do That For Me Everytime & ITS AMAZING! I Love Johns! As Long As I Live In The Northeast Me And Johns Pizzeria Are Bestfriends"
"Delicious chicken sandwich. I ordered the hot Mac sandwich, the southern bbq sandwich, a side of fries, and the Mac and cheese. The sandwiches were flavorful, crispy, and juicy at the same time. In comparison to other local chicken joints, there are more options for type of sandwich flavor combo as well as wing, wrap, and tender options. The portion of chicken was substantial as well. My more spice inclined friend did note though, if you want your actual spice level order 1 higher than you expect. The plain fries were crispy, would definitely opt for getting them seasoned or topped with cheese or sauce. The Mac and cheese was your regular tasting stovetop Mac, nothing to phone home about but satisfying enough. The service was prompt and the restaurant was very clean. It was a takeout order, but could definitely see myself grabbing a beer and another sandwich another time."
"It's Superbowl Sunday and I wanted to get some hot wings for me and a couple of friends so we could watch Big Red finally get a championship. I tried a couple of other spots that were too busy and had a long wait, so I decided to give King of Wings a try. They're located in South Philly, on Passeyunk Ave and they have been there for a long time. The place was busy, but not too crowded. The smell was terrific and I was sure I had found the right place. I looked over the menu and ordered 20 buffalo wings, 10 buffalo fingers, a half rack of ribs and a large potato salad. The prices were very reasonable.I had to wait a bit, but it wasn't that long considering that it was a busy Superbowl SundayI set it up on the dinning room table and I piled a little bit of everything on my plate and sat down on the couch to enjoy the game. The wings were okay, not nearly spicy enough for me, they were medium sized and coated well. The buffalo fingers were kind of soft but fresh. The ribs were not that tender and I felt like a wild animal in the woods tearing meat off the bone. The sauce was tasty though, nice and tangy. The potato salad was nothing to write home about, but it had a cooling balance to all of the spicy food.I was glad the game was good and nobody complained about the food, Big Red prevailed and all of the food was eaten, and lot of adult beverages were consumed and everyone left with a smile on their face."
"What an amazing place! I was so glad to be invited by the owners of OK hot chicken to come and try their evening establishment. During the day they run Martabak ok which is a sweet and savory pancakes. But after 6 pm, this is the place to be if you love fried chicken! We tried the sandwich, wings, loaded fries and a wrap! All the dishes had varying level of heat, so we could taste it all and honestly even the most spiciest level was 100% enjoyable. Which I think sets them apart, there's been a lot of new hot fried chicken places in Philly and some of them just overdo the spice. Anyway ok hot chicken is halal, fresh, crispy and juicy. They are super sweet and the storefront is clean, it's a take out joint only, so do not expect to sit in."
"Food we ordered chicken satay, kapow /basil stir fry, pad see eew, and a thai tea. Food was great. They don't skimp out on the amount of chicken in the food and honestly the vegetables taste so good that you don't even need the protein added. Thai tea had a bit too much milk, but I like that it came in a to-go cup. Place is small had like two tables that seat 4 people feels much more like a take out place. They are short staffed so we were patient. Only two people working. We dined in and the staff was very kind, there is a bit of a language barrier but overall we got our order in and everything came out great."
"I've tried them a couple times. And I can say there are a few things here that I truly enjoy. Their fried chicken is quite good. It's big and crispy. It's definitely the pressure cooked kind and not just some frozen parts thrown into a deep fryer. I think it's a well-kept secret. I also liked the pizza rolls and cheese sticks. My son enjoys the burgers. I'm not crazy about everything they make. Some of their food is more average. In fact that's exactly how I feel about their wings. But they do a few things well and I appreciate that."
