Rachel G. "What a serendipitous encounter!! We found this place through their billboard on the road from Houston to San Marcos. It is definitely off the beaten path and literally follows a long, bumpy dirt road to reach. Upon arrival we were awe-struck by the beauty of the grape-vines and the sky. I had no idea Texas wineries could be so green! Everything was beautiful and peaceful. Multiple seating areas outside. Adorable dogs running around the grounds. The workers and out pourer were friendly and knowledgeable. The tasting fee is 9$ for 5 tastes. You can pick and choose from the menu and they will most likely throw in a few other samples if you show interest. Now, I'm from California so I have pretty high standards when it comes to wine. I was impressed with their whites which is rare. The Chardonnay was light with a buttery finish. It should be noted that their wine varietals Tend more toward the sweet. Still, there seemed to be something for everybody. We bought a bottle of Chardonnay (and a bottle of desert wine to go) and sat in the back staring at the amazing scenery and one of the most iconic Texas sunsets. They bring out water and snack bites for you during your stay. We met some cool people and watched the dogs run around. Such a cool spot to unwind. Although a bit out of the way from Austin, I think it is highly worth it to make a day of road-tripping and if you can Time your visit with the sunset, you are in for a huge treat!"

Luz C. "I absolutely adore this place. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The atmosphere is relaxed and cozy. They also have great selections of wine and beer. When we went they had live music which was very pleasant. We also noticed that they have a space to rent out for events, there was a wedding going on whilst there. They don't serve food but there is a yummy food truck outside and you can eat outside or inside. I loved that they had an axe throwing experience right outside, it was so much fun. Overall this place a very nice local spot and I highly recommend it!"

Kyle H. "Very nice place and still not very well known, so it doesn't get too busy. The interior is nice, they have two separate seating areas inside, each with a bar. They also have a conference room, which I assume you could rent. They offer wine by the bottle or glass in addition to tastings (6 for $15). Overall, their prices are on par with upscale wine bars, but it a more relaxed atmosphere and without the crowd."

Calily B. "This joint is right next to Majek Vineyard's and they're just as equally nice and friendly. Why are people so lovely out in Moravia? This joint is legit Italian and is run by an Italiano transplant who actually lives in Katy but comes in every weekend to run the vineyard. What's interesting about this place is that you can taste all the wines FOR FREE--and they are liberal with their pours. My friend and I chose a cozy sofa setup and settled in for the tastings. The owners even give you a little small plate of nuts and cheese for your tasting. I mean! While we didn't love any of their reds, the blanc du bois was perfectly refreshing and balanced. I liked it so much I even bought a bottle. The setup is not as cute as Majek but the customer service is just as good!"

We tried 6 wines here:- 2018 Texas Blanc du bois (sweet)- 2020 Blanc du bois (dry)- 2020 Old World Blanc du bois - 2018 Pink rose of Texas- 2017 Texas Lenoir- 2014 Bounty Land CrossingsMy favorites were the blanc du bois (not the sweet one). I think I remember Sandy saying that Old World was made with oak..? Or something like that. Regardless, we ended up buying 2 bottles each of Blanc du bois and Old World blanc du bois (they have a 25% off special when you buy 4 bottles!).My only complaint is that they had us reuse our cups, although they did give us new cups for the reds. I would have liked a different cup for each tasting so that I wouldn't feel rushed to finish my previous tasting. There were also some that I felt obliged to finish, even if I didn't want to, because they were reusing cups.Overall, I really enjoyed our visit here - we had such a fun and delicious time!"

Jason S. "This is a great new winery to the area. Smaller place that is family owned and operated. Casual atmosphere but they are very hospitable and will go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable and having a good time. Nice change of pace from some of the larger wineries that can feel a bit sterile and stuffy. They also take great pride in their wines - and they make some good ones. Mostly lighter wines that pair well with a warm Texas day. Fair prices and beautiful grounds to enjoy it all on. They actually grow the grapes for their signature white wine - so you can enjoy a glass while looking out over a field of grape vines it came from - which is a rarity in Texas. Less than an hour away from Houston, so makes a great day trip. Definitely will be back."

It's very rustic and groovy with tons of chickens running around in the parking lot area. The wine is delicious. I am not a huge sweet wine drinker but wow I fell in love with paint the town red. As in, I have to have a bottle in the house at all times! The staff was super friendly and their slushy's were amazing. I tasted a flight and bought some bottles to take home and a slushy to go to enjoy later. There was some really cool jewelry there and I got to meet the artist while visiting the winery. "En route to Austin, Wimberley, Ledbetter and all other towns west of Houston, we like to stop into Saddlehorn Winery for a wine tasting, especially if we have some first-timers with us.The tasting room is in a restored/converted horse barn; and the 390 acre property is complete with vineyards, a small lake, bridge, parking, outdoor seating...Opt to do a tasting which includes your pick of six of their wines. They sell meat and cheese plates. And sometimes they sell pizzas (we arrive ten minutes past the serving time, which was a disappointment). Not into a tasting? Just pop in and enjoy a glass of wine. Wines by the glass: $7 whites, $10 reds"

Several of our neighbors have been here before and said during the warmer months they have several food trucks and tons of people. We had a great time getting to know some of our neighbors, eating and listening to the music. Keandra P. "I came here for a birthday celebration for a friend on a Saturday evening. She held her party in the private room. But there appeared to be ample seating inside and on the patio. They had just started the live music for the night. Playing lively old school hits for the grown & sexy, lol.Service- I think our server, Jasmine, was overwhelmed by the large group. She started out attentive with a smile, and then the smile faded by the end. It may have been too much. I expected service to be slow with a big party, but it was disjointed. Half of the guests had finished their meals by the time the other half had just gotten theirs to take a first bite. She didn't have any help, and it was a lot of food and drinks, so I get it. This likely was out of Jasmines hands. We just had to ask multiple times for a lot of things. Drinks - I had a glass of the "Sparking Almond" for $13. I liked it. But I wish I had just done the wine tasting so I could try a bit of everything. I bought a glass of "Fight like a Girl" for $12, there pink Moscato for the birthday girl. She liked it. So I decided to buy her a bottle of "Fight like a Girl" as a bday gift, for my friend as well for $40. And to support this Black Owned business. It's cool because some of the proceeds go towards breast cancer. Great cause to drink!Food - I ordered the mushroom risotto appitizer. I liked that they had an appetizer portion of this as well as an entree to give a chance to sample it instead of making it a whole meal. I also ordered the cheese flat bread. Both were ok. I wanted it to be delicious. The risotta, while cooked properly, did not have the depth of richness needed to pull off the creamy unami expectation of a risotta. But risotto is hard to pull off in general, so I understand. The cheese flat bread looked different than previous reviews on here. The bread itself almost seemed like a cauliflower or gluten-free like crust. Vibes - The live band began to play Louisiana style music and entered the private room, and we really had a good time.I love supporting black owned businesses. Our server said the owners would come say hello, but they didn't arrive. The live music is nice to enjoy while eating, and I am guessing the $5.00 band fee we were charged, covers the band cost, which makes sense. Overall, the place has good vibes! So I would actually give this another chance if in the area. I hope service is great in their regular dining section as opposed to their private party room. Some of the guests said they had been here for brunch, and it was good."

Caitlyn S. "On a recent trip to Houston for a brewery tour, we randomly decided to stop by this winery in the middle of nowhere! When we pulled up, it really seemed like the middle of nothing...but when we walked in, it was hoppin'! It's pretty small inside (and it was raining that weekend so no one was outside) and all of the tables were full of people! They were having a fun event with fondue, so that may have been part of the popularity, but man, everyone was so welcoming! We did the tasting, which was maybe $10-15 for 4-5 pours. Not bad. We each ended up buying a couple of bottles as well, because we were all able to find wines that we enjoyed! The owners were really friendly and helpful, and they were able to share a lot about the wines that they offered. I will say that of the wines I tried, I didn't enjoy a lot of them (I like full bodied wines) but there were a couple that I felt like we could buy and let age for a bit, which is what we're doing. And our friends bought a couple of bottles that they enjoyed as well.We had a great time, and we loved that people were so welcoming to us as we joined their tables. On the way up, or down (not sure bc I'm bad at geography), we got caught in the bad storm and had to pull over for it to pass. The less than 1.5hr drive turned into a 2.5 hr trip so by the time we got to the vineyard, we were so turned off. As soon as we were seated, one of the owners came by to introduce herself and offered us a complimentary glass of rosè on the house. We settled in a bit and got to ordering. Before ordering a bottle of the Symphony, we tried out several other whites and although they were good, the Symphony stood out the best. As for the food, the menu is limited for those who don't eat meat so we ordered the flat bread and skewers. Our food was great and so was the wine. What was even better was the other owner, although it was past tour hours, took a group of us on a tour of the cellar. We learned the history of how the vineyard came about, how they cork their wines and everything in between. The tour was great and it only lasted for about 15-20 minutes. We then toured the rest of the vineyard on our own and took in the scenery. The grounds are so well taken care of, the staff was great and the food and wine was top tier. It was such a good time and I can't wait to go back."

The Winery is located in Chappell Hill and is part of the "Texas Bluebonnet Wine Trail."The tasting room itself is in what looks like a house. There is plenty of parking, outdoor seating, and yes, the outside is dog friendly. The tasting room is inside, though. While they make and sell wines from grapes, what sets them apart from other wineries I've been to, is their fruit wines. Wines made from hibiscus, plumb, cranberries, and prickly pear. Yes, you heard right. Wine from fruit. And buyer beware - the alcohol content is the same as wine. I like to pour it over ice with some sparkling water and - voila - a quick sangria for poolside sipping. While I'm not a huge fan of the wines, my mother is. So I always bring her back a few bottles to enjoy with her friends on game night. Hence, the four star rating. They also let you taste more than what you select from your tasting, so I'm always happy to buy more wine than I actually need. They serve crackers and souvenirs/wine related gifts."

The parking is quite small but once you walk into the grounds you feel as if though you have been transported to a small Tuscan cottage. You can see the grape vines from the parking and the walk way entry has a lovely trellis filled with lush greenery. There are small seating areas that flank the walk way and for a hot summer day like yesterday they have large fans on. Once your indoors there are small tables and booth style seating. Your usually greeted by the owner who stands behind a small bar counter to Serve up your three complimentary tastings with purchase. You have the option of buying a bottle or glass and you can leave with a case if you find that perfect wine. There is such a great selection available from your sweet chilled white And reds to the more dry varieties. For my three complimentary tastings I tried their Cabernet, Gran mezcla- red blend and the Sauvignon blanc. I was accompanied by two other people so of course I took a sample of their samples . I tried the merlot, the Malbec and a chilled semi sweet red that starts off sweet and ends spicy (kind of like me after a few glasses) I can't remember the name(I know it had Muertos in the name ) but it's a must try. After our tastings we decided to stay inside and ended up buying two of the Sauvignon Blancs which were a refreshing addition to a hot summer day. You can bring your own tapas/picnic food to go with with your wine but if you didn't and just want something to munch on they have a small selection of gourmet deli meat and cheese. They even sell Lindt chocolates bars. I regret not taking more photos but I got there at 2 and left at 6 when they closed. Im sure we would of stayed longer if we could. In the end I left with a red and white wine and have already made plans to return. They are are family friendly establishment and have a great casual but still warm vibe. Highly recommend this small vineyard and if you go let me know and I will meet you there. Their summer hours are 12-6 Friday to Sunday and on Sunday's they usually have live music. If you check their website they usually have postings of any upcoming events like grape stomping! You have to go and take me with you !"
