Newly opened, I am a bit biased because I didn't care for the one in Scott, La, so don't take my words to heart . I stopped in today and as expected they were very busy, hot foods taking a bit long. A customer told me he waited way to long for a Boudin sandwich and felt the place should be larger for the amount of people stopping by. Over time it will settle down. Was given a crackling sample, good, fresh and meaty, but not seasoned enough for me and need spicy. 25$ a pound is a bit much for me. Tasted the boudin balls, for me too mushy. I prefer the dirty rice mix or more rice. All in all give them a try, good luck and Welcome to Katy, Tx . BTW, MSG used in everything, check the ingredients if an issue.

I gave it a 2/5 because the people inside were friendly. As far as the boudin goes... this is not it! The picture is supposed to be of original boudin, you would think it's smoked by the color. The flavor.. I hate to say but it doesn't taste anything like The Best Stop in Scott like I remember growing up on. I'll be taking the 3.5 hour drive back to Scott before coming back here! This doesn't even taste like the original recipe.

ordered regular boudin, pepper jack boudain, pepper jack egg rolls and the crackling.! !!! Well very disappointed the balls were so mushy with a wet feel and the texture was horrible. My cracklings were way overcooked and didn't have any seasoning. I drove 1.15 hours to get this and I tell you I will not be back. I called to make the manager aware of my experience, however she only had excuses I advised her this location was absolutely nothing like the one in Scott, LA I can go there anytime and everything will always be on point. She argued me down saying this location is exactly the same but baby it absolutely is not . We go to the Scott location often as my husband is from Lafayette and we visit all the time making sure we stop in Scott for all of our favorites. They might have the same recipes but the cooking is definilty not the same. I would rather go back to Scott than to visit this location ever again.

I'm a regular visitor of the Scott location when visiting family. I am super excited to have the best stop here in Katy. I look forward to the growth and the store becoming more like the Scott location. The food was excellent as usual, I was just missing all the pastries and novelties that I am accustomed to. I love this store.

Visited this new store 20 Feb 24. Upon entering the staff was warm and welcoming. This was a combination of a grocery store and cafe. The boudin was spicy and worth the try.

We moved here from Louisiana years ago and really miss the food. Every time we would drive to or through the Lafayette area we would make a stop at Best Stop to stock up on boudin and would get extra boudin, cane syrup for dipping, boudin balls, cracklins and maybe Evangeline Maid bread for our "car food". There's none better than Best Stop! So we are thrilled that we can now get it all in Katy. And even more excited about the upcoming Woodlands location!! Yes, they are more expensive than in La., but my drive is much shorter. My only suggestion/request for the Katy store is that they cut the cracklins into smaller pieces so it cooks up crispier and with less fat in the middle. Otherwise, I sincerely thank them for coming to Texas!

I wanted to stop by this spot in Louisana but I never did. Come to find out they opened one in Katy Texas. I was pretty happy to stop in. The customer service is top notch! Everyone was very attentive! Food: I really liked the bacon, egg sandwich. Tasted very good. Full of flavor. The smoked boudain was top notch! Very good and full of flavor. Reminded me a lot of Burt's meat market. The red beans and rice was very good as well. The pepper jack boudain ball was full of flavor. I'll definitely stop in and get more smoked boudain. That was definitely my favorite. I'll be back soon.

The best Boudin in the whole world. You can either get it fresh or frozen. Which makes it convenient for everyone.

Let's get to the pepper jack boudin balls. It was so good. Crispy on the outside but nice and favorable in the inside. Busting with flavor. I ate one in line waiting for the gumbo. I ended up ordering another it was so good. I wasn't to impressed with the chicken & sausage gumbo...no flavor. However, the service was superb from the order to the cashier and service staff walking around to help. It makes you feel like you're in Louisiana.

I think the original Best Stop in Louisiana was "made famous" via Jane and Michael Stern, of "Road Food" fame. I always quite liked it, although its "interstate-centric" name and location (and the idea it's where the traveler leaving Louisiana for more food-deprived locales would have a ~last chance~ to "load up the coolers" with real Cajun food) did not make it my favorite -- that would be Billy's, in Opelousas, and Hebert's Slaughter House, in Abbeville (for RED boudin) -- but it was fine. And it is certainly FINE to have authentic boudin, cracklin's -- and [whatever else they plan to stock when fully opened . . . some of the cold/freezer cases were quite bare when I was there during their soft opening] -- in Katy. The boudin was fine in taste, but wasn't the PLUMP and moist link you find in Acadiana. (The arcane, mystical art of keeping boudin piping hot without bursting the skins is seemingly known to few, other than every boudin purveyor in Acadiana!) The skin was rather dry and I am not sure I was given "original" as what I found when I got it home seemed "smoked." I need a second visit to confirm this hypothesis. I also concur with the other poster that the cracklin's were authentic, beautifully cooked, just right on the tooth,. but WOEFULLY UNDERSEASONED! Cracklin's have to be seasoned when they are fresh cooked, immediately when taken out of the grease. You can't "retrofit" the seasoning when they have cooled down. It just all falls off, where it needs to soak in with the grease. If they are omitting the seasoning for "health reasons" . . . I would submit that if you are worried about sodium on an item that is almost entirely running pork fat . . . er . . . that does not make very much sense. But I have no wish to make this all sound negative. I think a hot link of boudin is one of the very best "to go" snacks, and we should really have it available all over Houston as they do just a few miles to our east, in Louisiana. And, yes, it was just opened and a little hectic, but the staff were very friendly and enthusiastic. Check out the Best Stop, Katy! And "give them the hint" by asking for your cracklin's to be WELL SEASONED!
