They were closing at the time but I'm sure during regular hours the restaurant has a cozy ambiance. Now the food - pad Thai (chef's kiss), papaya salad (outstanding), dumplings (superb) and steamed veggies. Everything, everything was great. I even recommended this spot to my colleagues during my travel. I would definitely go back when I'm in the area again."

Apparently it's a popular place, so make a reservation!I came in for a mini date night, had a reservation, and got seated promptly upon arrival. The parking lot was tight... Luckily we got a spot!If you're looking for a Thai place with an uplifting, happy environment and a cheerful crowd, come over here. As mentioned in my pics I posted to Yelp, I tried the Thai Whiskey flight. Be careful! I can hold my alcohol. But I got lit after downing each of the four shots. (Remember, after each shot take a bite of a lime slice and a few pieces of Tamarind... Then move onto the next shot.)If you take a sip of each whiskey shot, it kinda has a Chinese medicine taste. When you shoot it, it's kinda enjoyable. Pretty crazy, huh?"

We came on a Friday right before HH ends and the sampler was a great choice everything was tasty especially the shrimp.Drinks were hit or miss - lychee martini was too sweet for him and I tried something sour which was fine. The mule -not HH -which is the top mixed drink on the menu was underwhelming. The crispy flounder was a winner so flaky and ask for the sauce on the side which is so helpful. The pieces are already cut for you so you have crunchy filets to share. The basil shrimp entree was fresh and oddly did not have anything besides shrimp - so that was unexpected.Waiter was helpful.Overall a nice experience if you are craving Thai food in the Galleria area."

Briann H. "Bananas Thai is my go to can't cook dinner let's order delivery restaurant. This family run restaurant is the best, the food is authentic, and fresh. The portions are nicely sized. They are very consistent with their quality. If you follow their Facebook page they run specials which is an added bonus.Dining in the restaurant was a pleasant experience, they really make it a welcoming environment for families, and make sure to let you know you're welcome back.It is a bit hot in the restaurant, but if we all kept our thermostats a little higher like them maybe our power grid would be failing haha.My go to favorites are:Pad Kee Mao spice level 1 uh these are amazing. Have you ever had this noodle dish? Go eat it now! It is saucy goodness. The flavors of the fresh basil with the sauce and the wide noodles. I could eat this everyday .Green curry spice level 1 I love the eggplant and this curry is so delicious. I always am sad when the eggplant is gone. I just want a big bowl of eggplant covered curry. The way they cook it is amazing. I've tried to do it at home and haven't been able too. I like to order a side of rice noodles and mix them in with my curry.Red curry spice level 2 because it's delicious but it makes your nose run. So be prepared. It's very flavorful. They are so careful and double wrap when they do delivery/ to-go to make sure the curry doesn't spill. Chicken skewers are a crowd pleaser so I like the option of ordering a dozen of them in a party tray.Their cream cheese ragoons are delicious. The shumai are delicious and the two dipping sauces they came with were so good!Of course their Thai iced teas are delicious. They also make their own mango ice cream that's amazing! If you love authentic, and supporting small family owned businesses give them a visit or call in for delivery so we can keep this gem in our community!"

The dressing was very good! Also ordered the crispy rolls (egg rolls). They were long and thin. I really loved the flavor of the veggies in the rolls. I could probably eat 5 orders of these. I've gone to many Thai restaurants but this one has got to be the best so far. The spring roll was fresh, but it was the sweet peanut dipping sauce. It tasted incredible, almost like a caramel peanut butter sauce. It was to sweet but just perfect. I could taste the caramel and I loved the nutty flavor. The red Thai curry was fully bodied and rich with those traditional curry flavors. Loved the subtle taste of coconut milk. They added spicy oil for that additional kick. I didn't eat the rice. There was honestly no need to eat the rice as I gobbled the veggies up and drank the curry broth!"

Brett N. "Why 5 stars? Because despite being the spiciest food I've eaten in a long time, it was delicious. --- --- ---The website warned us. The server warned us. Fellow Yelpers warned us.The food here is much spicier than a normal Thai restaurant. Their mild is like medium at other places. And I am a total wuss when it comes to spicy food. This is not by choice - I just can't handle it, unfortunately. But before we reached the main courses, we tried a couple of appetizers, and they were not spicy. They were just amazing. Garlic Chive Pancakes: These are not visually appealing. But they are a party in your mouth, and that's what's important. Slightly crispy on the outside, gooey on the inside and full of unique/delicious flavor. Do not come to this establishment without ordering these.Pork Sticks: My brother wanted to order these and I'm glad he did. These were beef jerky sized bites of pork, with a perfect dipping sauce that accompanied. Another home run.We both ordered drunken noodles and then shared some green curry. I don't recall the last time I ate anything as spicy as these dishes. And I ordered the mild drunken noodles. Flavorful? Check. Delicious? Check. Perfectly prepared? Check. But my God, my physical body is just not meant to ingest anything remotely close to that level of spice. At first, I felt like the drunken noodles were the spicier dish, while the green curry was cooling me off. Then it reversed. I ended up finishing the noodles, but just couldn't handle one more speck of heat in the curry after we ate at least half of it. Our server was great - I am kicking myself for not getting her name. But she offered to bring me a big shot of half and half to help cool me off, and that worked wonders. I also had two Thai Teas, but the half and half by itself was a lot more helpful. We finished with Mango Sticky Rice, and this was the only thing I would give less than 5-stars. It was just okay, but again, very needed for mouth cooling purposes. I'd come again for the appetizers, but might have to stick to Pad Thai or something else with zero spice."

Jando S. "Judging by all the awards and accolades on the wall, it appears the heydey for Thai Bistro was nearly 2 decades ago (#1). The place is reminiscent of many Asian establishments in this part of town: a diminished authentic experience semi-overpriced, and primed for the palates of folks in this part of town.On looks alone, Thai Bistro seems to stand out a bit more than the neighboring businesses. It shares the underpass of Summit Square (#2) with a good amount of al fresco dining outdoor seating options. Looks can be somewhat deceiving, as the inside is a little more tight than I would have imagined despite the second level seating. It might not feel super group friendly, but it's definitely got casual date vibes and lunch destination feels.Given how pricey the a la carte options (#3) are, I'd recommend the lunch special which was $12 and under for an entree, mini app, and drink. The options include items such as the bbq lemongrass tofu, pad thai, panang chicken curry, chicken basil inferno, and yellow curry vermicelli. I didn't find much of anything that exciting but we still ordered a heap of food any way.The tom yum was probably the highlight. The prawns were fresh, the smell was fragrant, and the broth was flavorful despite being crazy dark. The fish cakes were a bit of a bummer as they were oily and bland. The pad thai was passable but the penang curry was substantially better. Pad see ew felt average and the fried dumplings / spring rolls were a total bust. When it comes to appetizers, I'd probably stick with the satays or none at all.Minus the food miscues, the real kicker was the service. They were just so slow that it took longer for us to get our check than it did for us to eat our meals. It was hard getting someone's attention for usual things such as water refills or simply ordering more food. There were a lot of uncleaned tables at the end of service but few folks tending to them.I realize that I'm not the target clientele and that's okay. I think I expected this given everything, but it'll likely be awhile before I'm back. ___________(#1) 2006 / 2007.(#2) Exhibit A: https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/thai-bistro-houston?select=U2eYGpP1q29VKf21TNCk7w(#3) $23 for some crab fried rice? I was disappointed to see that it wasn't the black rice that was advertised because it wasn't as healthy as the pure black rice. The Green curry was diluted also.. it wasn't green but white because of all of the coconut milk.Lastly the mango and sticky rice.. ah they just gave me plain sticky rice that wasn't sweet. As for the food, I loved the portion sizes here and how delicious it all was. We tried the yellow curry (3/5), it was very creamy and delicious, but a bit too creamy for me. If you're not familiar with the area, it's off Grant Rd (in between Perry & Jones in the Mandolin area) in the corner spot of a small shopping plaza. When we arrived around 6/6:30 - the place was nearly empty. I was a bit reluctant because of, but stayed nonetheless. The waiter was kind and promptly served us our drinks. After the kids ordered the chicken fried rice, we placed our order - Curry Chicken and Shrimp Mor Din. The curry... delicious! Full of flavor, cooked well, and paired nicely with the rice that was well cooked also. The shrimp mor din on the other hand - not my cup of tea (the noodles that is). The flavor in the shrimp and cabbage was perfect, but the noodles... they were gooey and overly seasoned. Overall - the food was good and was served promptly and hot! My only real complaint would be the kids' portions - they were very small. My usually picky eater who doesn't eat a lot - left very hungry. Oh and the steamed dumplings weren't bad. Be forewarned - gratuity is automatically added for parties of 5 or more - I'm not a fan of automatic gratuity - it's almost a given that the service will lack as a result. It unfortunately closed many years ago and I've never been able to find another place where the green curry lived up to good ol'e Thai Thani (RIP). I'm so happy to say that I think Thai Wok In is the first time I have finally put an end to the search.I am far from an expert on being able to describe why the other curries were not as good as this curry. I simply slurp and react. And I reacted quite happily to this one. The only minor knock I have is that when we ordered online, we selected "no spice". I debated choosing "mild" because I don't like spicy food but I didn't want to take away from the flavor either. Well, I can definitely say that no spice still has a decent kick to it and that's what I'll be ordering again in the future. I'm a wuss when it comes to heat and my wife takes it to the extreme, so we're pretty spice adverse. Other than that, we really enjoyed the fried rice that my wife ordered as a side. Her main entree, Pad Thai, was a bit on the bland side, but still enjoyable. We finished with sticky rice and mango and it was a nice way to end the meal.We will definitely be back again since this isn't too far from us and we really enjoyed our first visit, despite the food being to-go."

My friends and I had dinner at this restaurant prior to seeing Howie Mandel at Jones Hall. I wasn't hungry but did order a Thai tea. My menu was over the two tables that were joined. As I began to move the tea toward the right, the glass tripped (fell) and the tea spilled all over. I hadn't even tried it. The waiter came to clean and told me not to worry about it. I did grab lots of napkins and cleaned too. He offered another tea. I asked if he'd charge me for a second one.He said he would. I was shocked. I hadn't even tried the spilled one and the uneven tables contributed to the gas tumbling. So at the moment I decided to not order a second one. It's $5. When the waiter came back, I told him that 99.9 percent of restaurants wouldn't charge me for the second beverage after having spilled the first one. The manager wasn't there and he said he'd pay for it. I told him he didn't have to. He told me it would be dishonest if he didn't pay for it after giving me a second tea. Honestly, I'm appalled. The staff at this Café need to learn about customer service. In the end, the waiter only charged me for one tea. I sure hope he didn't pay for the spilled one. That wouldn't be fair. The $5 beverage has lots of ice. I bet they are making a considerable profit and don't need to nickle and dime me from a spilled beverage. I hope to try their food when I'm downtown and upgrade my rating. My friends like this place."
