"Can we taco bout how much I can't wait to come back here LOLLate night taco spot with solid service and solid eats! Staff was all very friendly and everything is made fresh! I love that we can sit right by the grill and watch all the magic happen! Sure the awkward eye contact with the cooks can be strange but it's also oh so fun!Stopped by after a late night DJ set at a club and we were mildly hungry. I had the carne asada steak taco, Al pastor, and the lengua. They did NOT skimp on the meat and flavor. My friend got a tostada with nopales and steak and it was MASSIVE!My other friend got the carne en su jugo soup and it was what dreams are made of! Fried onions and fried bacon thats then grilled with steak then put into a big o bowl with broth and avocado!!! Rich and heavenly...absolute comfort in a bowl! Definitely can't wait to go back!"
"I was having a bad day and so I stopped in here for a snack to pick myself up and it really worked. I got an horchata, beef empanada, chicken empanada, and a pastelillo with guava and cheese and everything was delicious and five stars. The horchata is so refreshing and good and both empanadas were great, but if I had to pick a favorite, I'd say chicken. The pastelillo was so wonderful and the guava cheese combo really is top tier. The service was also great - the woman behind the counter was so nice and warm and good vibes, and the whole experience was the highlight of my day. I'd definitely be back again to get all the things I ordered again and/or try their Cubano."

Visit Restaurant Page"We were fortunate enough to find a table right away when we went. It seemed like a table they weren't planning to sit anyone at, but they offered it to us and since it was getting late and we were starving we happily accepted. The service did take for ever. Probably a good 20 minutes before we were able to place our order. It is BYOB and ordered a Michelada mix. A very decent sized glass ready for me to pour my Pacifico beer in it. It tasted delicious and was probably the highlight of my meal. They do start you off with a complimentary tostada de Ceviche along with a very very very hot salsa to go with it. It was tasty, but boy did it burn. I also ordered my usual Pina rellena, but was very disappointing. It's half a pineapple cut open with a mixture of seafood mixed with their crema sauce. On the side you get a very tasty rice, garlic bread, fries and a side of salad which I never ever touch. Unfortunately the Pina rellena had way too much mushrooms, cheese and imitation crab than anything else. Personally, I've had some that would blow this Pina rellena out of this water. Some have come with real crab legs, octopus, calamari, and mussels. This one didn't. Sadly, I won't be returning here. I really wanted to like it here, but their very slow service and their mediocre food won't change my mind."
"We've got a new favorite taco spot in in town! My husband placed an order online for pick up, and on the car ride over they actually gave us a call to ask for clarification on the order. This was such a nice touch, and showed they really care about giving customers the best experience possible. Our order was packaged nicely and everything was still fresh by the time we got home. I ordered two chicken tinga tacos and a quesadilla. On the quesadilla, I added grilled veggies and fresh jalapenos. Everything was so fresh!! I love the ability to customize your order (corn vs flour tortillas, taco toppings, etc). For my husband who's a cilantro hater....this is really great. The chicken tinga tacos were nicely marinated, juicy, and fresh! We've already ordered for pick up again since our first visit. We are obsessed!! If you're in the neighborhood, definitely give Taco Maya a try. The tacos are so fresh and there is something for everyone!"
"The food hear is just outstanding. It's an adorable little spot. The staff is nice. It's one of my favorite spots on the Southport corridor. I only wish I lived closer so I could go more often. If you go don't sleep on the chicken enchiladas. Best thing on the menu."
"The food was incredible, I only wish they treated it like it was as good as it was. My wife and I shared the tilapia tacos and the 2 tamale dinner. The tilapia was some of the best cooked and seasoned piece I have ever had. It had a blackening seasoning that was spot on. The pineapple sale was on point and the pablano peppers were a perfect garnish. Combining those 3 on their fresh corn tortillas would be as good as any fish taco at a fine fish restaurant. But then piled on the plate with it was also a giant pile of shredded lettuce, guacamole and pico. Honestly I would have been more than satisfied with the simple toppings without all the excesses. It is reminiscent of what a restaurant does when their fish is not very good. The fish and salsa were so good that you shouldn't hide the amazing flavors. The tamales were also quite good. We got the mushroom tamales and the pumpkin tamales which were both quite good. The salsa verde and the smokie chipotle sauces paired well with the pumpkin. I wasn't quite sure what the sauce on the mushroom one was but it was sweet and satisfying. Again, they were served in a giant puddle of sauce with a huge dollop of sour cream on top of lettuce in the middle. WHY!!! They were so good, it seemed like extraneous stuff that could hide the flavors. Overall the food was outstanding. The service was solid and the waitstaff attentive. It was also a nice touch that the owner stopped us to see how we liked the food as we headed out and knew what we ordered. Its not particularly close or convenient but if we have occasion to be there, we would go back."
"Went here for dinner with a friend. The restaurant is much bigger than you can tell from the street. They have an enclosed heated patio in the back area where which we sat. They give you as many orders of fresh chips and salsa as you wish. Salsa is kinda spicy, but I prefer it that way. We ordered Al pastor enchiladas which were very good and got the churros for dessert. There are cheaper Mexican restaurants in the area but this place isn't overpriced. Service was also very good and attentive. Will be visiting again."
"Came here on Cinco de Mayo and they were slammed. Surprisingly we didn't wait long for a table. I would come back again for Elotes and Margarita. I got the Pink Cadillac Margaritas and was very pleased with the taste and strenght of the liquor. For food I got tacos dinner with beans & rice. Overall a nice dinner on the patio. Very much enjoyed the live entertainment and singing as a cherry of top of the evening."
"The only Islas Maria's worth going to! Food here is tasty and authentic and fresh. DO NOT I repeat DO NOT bother going to the Berwyn location. Good micheladas, great Langostinos!"
"Very very old style Mexican place. This is the place that your parents would bring you on a random Saturday evening. The interior is nothing special so don't go for the vibes. The food portion is great but it also matches the price that you pay. I got a pina colada with alcohol and it was delicious. I def felt the alcohol! I also ordered the Milanese. It was very thin and fried. I enjoyed the rice and beans that came with my order. I would also mention that this place doesn't offer chips and dips when you walk in. My coworker ordered a drink as well and the steak with mole something. I don't remember the name of it but her plate was $30 alone."
"This was my first time trying gorditas, and boy was I #blessed to have it here! The place is small and cozy, but really, you come in, choose your food (mostly Gordita options) eat and go. They make your Gordita fresh, so do anticipate a slight wait if you order more than 1. Don't worry, totally worth it! The 2 that I tried were my instant faves (so far)! Asientos (ground pork) and chicharron prensado en salsa roja (pork in red sauce) were soo good, my mouth waters kissy thinking about it. I know it sounds simple, especially the ground pork, but they place it on a bed of cheese etc. it really is more decadent than you can imagine. Each Gordita is $2.05 and they have ample vegetarian Gordita options as well. Quesadilla, burrito, and tacos are listed, but the bulk of their menu and what I urge you to order if you're here, are their specialty gorditas. Just a heads up, their burrito and tacos are miniature size! They're also cash only, but have an ATM in the back near the restrooms. They have horchata and other typical Mexican refreshments. Can't wait to try the rest!"
"I can't say enough about how much I enjoyed having a late lunch here. I am pretty stuck in my ways as I get older, so I went with my usual Carne a La Tampiqueña. It was delicious. So were the chips and salsa. My friend and her brother both loved what they ordered as well. I didn't take any photos. I can't say the the space is worth photographing, and the outside leaves you wondering if they are even open. However, the service is top notch. It was so busy in there and our waitress didn't miss a beat. The most interesting part about Atardecer Acapulqueno is the robot that delivers the food to the table. I'm not sure if you can take your own food off of it, but the waitress did come around to put the plates on our table. We didn't wait but half a second for that. I have to laugh because I thought the robot was strange, and the waitress kept looking at the robot with mixed feelings as well. I would watch every time the kitchen sent it out. I think it's a cool addition because the waitress does not have to carry the heavy plates out. If you're in the neighborhood, I recommend you stop in for a bite."

You want good tacos you go to Pilsen! I've been to a half dozen places here but I really like Coyotes! The carne asada and pollo is perfectly cooked! Standard cilantro and onion perfection. Great service and full belly. They also have the Senorial Sangria I like that not everybody has. Reminds me of eating tacos as a kid at my old friend's family restaurant. I lived in LA 11 years and you can't get much better than that unless you're headed to Mexico. Glad we have Pilsen in Chicago to enjoy some carne asada tacos for days! Gracias

This place opens until super late, so I wanted to try it out. I got the media noche and my boyfriend got the steak quesadillas. We also shared a guava and cheese puff pastry. The steak quesadillas were top tier, although at $15 I thought the price was a little steep. My media noche sandwich didn't look like the pictures I had seen. It wasn't grilled, but looked more pan seared? Unfortunately, I wasn't a fan of the sandwich. It was almost mushy in texture and I was expecting a more crispy/hard bread. However, just because I'm not a fan of the sandwich doesn't mean this place deserves less than 5/5. Everything else was good and the service was very nice. I would come back just for the puff pastry. It was SO YUMMY! You also get free chips and dip with your order.

This little place was delightful. The space was clean and bright with super friendly staff. We were a little confused if it was a table service or counter service, but it appears to be the best of both worlds. We sat and our server was a delight. But you can help yourself to a very clean salsa bar. So, hypothetically, no one will judge you if you go back for thirds on their amazing tomatillo salsa. The Indian fusion tacos were excellent. The Mocktail used juices that were prepared in house. We will definitely be going back - with the kids and for another date night.

Dona Tola is not Donatelo, or any of the other Ninja Turtles. The Yelp keyboard doesn't have the Spanish ñ to make it authentic. What is authentic is the delicious food and inviting staff at this lovely little restaurant. The margaritas are also delicious, which is important. The Arrachera (skirt steak) is a huge cut of beef, with a large serving of guacamole as well. My meat came out tender and juicy. Thursdays they have LIVE MARIACHI! How awesome! Pop by and give it a try.

We had a late lunch at tamales. The fajitas were okay. They didn't come out very hot. The food was warm just not hot which was surprising. We were also surprised to pay extra for the fajita toppings (lettuce tomato etc) and that just the meat and tortillas is what comes with the price.

El Nuevo has so much more than meets the eye!! I've walked by a million times, but finally found the time to try it out! We were easily seated without a reservation on a Friday at 7pm because the restaurant is much larger than I expected!! It is very large and deep, and all the exposed brick in the back room and heaters on the patio make it super cozy! Pleasant surprise. The service was also exceptional. Alfredo was our server, and he seemed to really take pride in his job. He also made great menu recommendations when my boyfriend ordered pork tacos, and he suggested a more elevated pork variation that was a special. Pomegranate margarita was exactly what I was hoping for, and my enchiladas were the perfect serving size. I was very happy with the value of this date night dinner spot!

Friendly staff, fantastic tacos, and huge pitchers of margaritas for the price. We ordered a pitcher for the two of us and it's really meant for 3 or maybe even 4 people despite the price making it seem like there's only 2 or 3 servings in it - spoiler: there's a lot more. The ceviche was really good, as was every single taco that came out of the kitchen. Definitely try the churros for dessert - it might not sound like that great of an option just from reading it but it was really worth it.
Visit Restaurant Page"From the outside and inside, this place is very cute, colorful, and well-decorated. It can be a little crowded, but there was no wait for our ~1pm Sunday lunch. The atmosphere inside is pretty loud and lively. We started with an order of Guacamole Picoso, which was okay. The chips were very crispy, but a bit too oily-- to the point that it was interfering with the chip flavor. The guac was pretty good. I then got the Fajitas with sunny side up eggs. Especially for the price, the portions are pretty small. I also expected the fajitas to come with tortillas, but it unfortunately didn't so it was just chorizo, eggs, and veggies. I did enjoy the fajitas a lot though-- the veggies and chorizo were perfectly grilled and well-seasoned, the eggs were well-cooked, and the burnt chards at the bottom of the skillet were delicious to eat.My friend also got the fajita skillet with chicken and similarly enjoyed it. Another friend got some vegan tacos, which he thought were decent. They do have a solid and distinct vegan menu section, though it's pretty pricey-- most of the items were more expensive than the non-vegan items. My main qualm was that while the staff were friendly, the service was quite slow-- we waited for over an hour for our food to arrive. Otherwise, this is a solid spot overall-- especially if you're coming with a large group to both eat and drink, it would definitely be a fun time!--Price (relative to peers): 3.5/5Food: 4/5 Ambience: 4.5/5Service: 3.5/5Overall Value: 3.5/5"
"Just came here for a quick bite after a walk in the forest preserve with the dog. I don't speak any Spanish and the person helping me he didn't speak much English but it doesn't matter. Got four different tacos and homemade refried beans and rice. Everything was delicious the tortillas were homemade. We got it to go and it tasted delicious even when we got home did not need to reheat or anything because they were freshly made! Salsas also are delicious. Will definitely be back! The prices are decent and it's cheaper if you pay cash."
"Shout out to the former RUDY'S! This place is fantastic! I love that they kept the crazy neon from the previous restaurant. In this area, it's hard to find a bar/resto that is open LATE. Come to Cantina! I've been here again now a couple of times when other stuff was closed! The usual array of Mexican beers, and seltzer.I'm a huge fan of the mini quesadillas with steak. I've had them twice now, and yum - they are juicy and delicious. Enough for two to share, or for one if you're hungry! My friend got the Torta al Pastor, and that was enough for two meals!Big fan!"
"Superiorly Spectacular Mexican recipes from the state of Guerrero served in a welcoming setting in McKinley Park. We'd previously enjoyed the fare here before a Wynton Marsalis concert, but our visit today was after attending a Sox game. Upon entering we were immediately greeted & seated. Service was fast, orders were taken swiftly & we were checked on often by our attentive server, Raul. Ordered: Papas Toreadas, Tlayuda Vegetariana, veggie tacos, Mole Chicken Enchiladas, Crispy Chicken Milanesa. The crispy chicken milanesa served with the cilantro lime sauce and garlic mashed potatoes were one of the many stars of the show. Enchiladas De Mole were an experience entrenched deep in flavor. I love pickled veggies & really enjoyed the pickled onions on the dishes. If you come here, you must order Tlayuda for the table. It is like a large tostada but w/crispy cracker thin bread baked like a pizza. We always get the veggie version & always a shareable winner.Toward the end of our meal, the owner, Jaime, came to check on us. We let him know we thoroughly enjoyed the dishes out of kitchen. In our chat, he let us know the recipes came from his mother in Guerrero & thanked us for our visit. We look forward to our return! Get in here!"
"This place is super fun and very affordable. You order up front and sit in the back. They bring you your food/drinks when they are ready but it's a super casual vibe. The food was great and the drinks were strong. The restaurant is based off the owners dog and we got to meet her which is so fun!"
"So I was at Lake Zurich restaurant Festival the other day and I came upon this restaurant they have deep fried tacos and they're really good I tried their tamales they have homemade tamales and their menu looks wonderful very nice people . Horchata is excellent and I had a sangria it had pineapple , orange cucumbers watermelon so good and refreshing . it had a straw that was dipped in tamarind and tajin. Delicious . New place two brothers run this small shop . It's south of the Mobil . Check it out."
"My friend and I went here the other day and we really enjoyed the service and atmosphere. The food was delicious and drinks were super yummy!! I loved the decor and had a really good time! We will return again!"
"Okay I love this place. Amazing customer service. The staff is so friendly and greeted me with a free bowl of soup while I waited on my to-go order. The soup was so good. Tons of veggies, chicken, and bow tie pasta. The service was so phenomenal and the staff was so attentive while making my order, making sure everything was cooked how I wanted it to be. I can tell this will be a go-to for me in the future."
"I was coming home from a semi late night and stumbled across this place. There is metered street parking within a reasonable walking distance. They are open late, 6 nights a week. They are a credit card only restaurant, which is right up my alley. They do not take cash. The restaurant serves tacos, tortas and tamales and you can actually see them making them through the front window. Their selection is limited. They have a choice of 2 kinds of tamales and 4 kinds of tacos and tortas. I am not sure if you can walk into the restaurant and sit down. I ordered my food through a little take out window in the front. I got one of each of the 2 tamales, chicken tingas and queso Jalapeño. They were ready right away. I think they were premade. I ate them as soon as I got back to my room. They were ok. Nothing special, I have had better and I have had worse. Well, when it is late, you are hungry and there are limited dining options, this place will do. I hear their tacos are delicious so, the next time I am in time, I will have to give them a shot, because the tamales just did not do it for me."
"I have been to this location a few times, just haven't gotten around to reviewing it. Just at any of their other locations, Atotonilco makes the best Al Pastor, not only in the city but in the world. You basically just find a table and seat yourself. Most locals that come here kind of already know what they want so as soon a you take a seat be prepared to have your order ready because they'll ask you what you want to order seconds after you take a seat. Obviously if you're not ready, they won't mind if you ask for a few minutes. As for the al pastor, I visit Atotonilco exclusively for their their al pastor. I'm pretty sure their other meats are great, but nothing compares to their al pastor. They slice the meat right off the spit and quickly sear it on their flat top mixed in with their sauce. What you get is a very juicy crispy and tender al pastor taco. Put some of their green salsa on and it's game over."
"I'm a Rick Bayless fan and have grown up watching his shows!A group of us came to Topolobampo for an early dinner, and we ordered:+the Guacamole, classic Frontera-style - prepared with mashed Michoacán avocados, cilantro, lime green chiles, and tomatoes, served with housemade tortilla chips+Carne Asada, Shortrib, Black Mole - wood-grilled Imperial Wagyu beef ribeye with a slow-cooked shortrib, served with an inky mole negro (made with chiluacle chiles and 28 other ingredients!), black trumpet, woodear, and maitake mushrooms, and a mezcal-infused radish; the mole was incredible - thick, creamy, super flavorful, and just complemented every aspect of the dish!+King Crab Fideos - 3 fideos (traditional vermicelli, rutabaga threads, and spaghetti squash) in a sauce of smoky morita chiles and sweet potatoes, king crab, and herbsI couldn't get over how much I loved the house mole sauce - you could literally slather it on an old shoe and it'd taste delicious!Everything came out piping out, and the service was on point.Garage parking or public transportation is best.+try their mole!+great service+make reservations!+limited parking"
"Taqueria los Comales is considered to be the first taqueria in Chicago; they have several locations throughout the Chicagoland area, and they're known for their tacos.I had heard that they serve up a great chimichanga - note that each location has a slightly different menu, and it seems as if this location in Pilsen may be the only one that offers it?I decided to dine-in, as no one wants a soggy chimichanga. My server was nice and efficient, but it seems as if the waitstaff tag-teams, so you'll have different individuals bringing out your drinks, the meal, etc.I ordered the Chimichanga Dinner - protein choices include steak, chicken, pork & onions, flank steak, steamed beef, tripe, Mexican sausage (aka, chorizo), and dried beef; I opted for the steak (carne asada). The chimichanga is filled with refried beans and cheese, and comes with a side of lettuce, tomatoes, and slices of avocado, with also refried beans topped with cheese and rice.I did request my chimichanga to be extra crispy, which they delivered. The fillings were okay - I thought the steak bits could have been more flavorful and more juicy, and the chimichanga could have been a bit more greasier? I felt it was a little dry.The side of refried beans, which I usually enjoy, along with the rice were both more on the colder end; if they came out piping hot, it would been better. The shredded lettuce were wilted and didn't seem as fresh; avocado slices were generous and well-ripened.There are bottles of salsa on the table, along with hot sauce; it had a nice kick and was a good complement to the chimichanga.I also tried their horchata, which comes in 2 sizes; this was more on the sweeter end.A small cup of sliced limes were served; maybe better for those who are eating tacos; I did notice, however, these were a bit dried out.In terms of paying, you just walk up to the cashier and let them know your table number; there is a charge for those who are using card, so bring cash! The restaurant was actually more spacious than I thought; there were several parties dining in, but there was a constant flow of those doing carry-out orders.Regardless, getting here was pretty simple, as it's near the UIC/medical center area. They do have a designated parking lot behind the restaurant, but you'll have to get onto 17th Street to access it; then, you'll just have to walk through the alley to get to the entrance of the taqueria. My search for a great chimichanga continues!+dried-out sides+friendly service+designated lot in the back"
"This place was absolutely amazing!Every single dish we ordered was a 5/5, with the taste, presentation, and friendly and efficient service all being on point. We ordered the chicken taquitos, the carne asada (cooked medium), and the peach cheesecake. The carne asada was super flavorful and super tender, probably the best I've ever had. The cheesecake was also super delicious and one of the best dessert items I've had so far in Chicago. A few notes, it is on the more expensive side but we felt like it was worth it given the high quality of the food. Portions are also on the smaller side, but again, we felt prices were worth it.This was one of my best meals so far in 2024!"
"I've not been to El Milagro in many years, but my love and I enjoyed having a no-frills lunch there on a recent Saturday afternoon. They were doing brisk business, but after we placed our order at the counter our food was brought out fairly quickly. A hearty plate of food with rice, beans, slaw and tortillas is now nearly ten dollars, still not a bad deal nowadays.I enjoyed my mole chicken for lunch. My love actually ordered lengua in tomato sauce. As you can see, she did not get what she ordered, but she still was fine with her meaty lunch. I tacked on a dessert tamale. The strawberry tamale was a unique taste sensation, not overly sweet."
"Amazing place for pozole in the neighborhood to be honest very authentic and the portion is above appreciated they give literally extra plate nothing but Ingredients for the pozole it's hidden gem place wish more people knew about this place your sleeping you haven't checked this place is you will not be disappointed at all"
"I got the Hungry Man - two eggs, bacon, sausage, house potatoes, two pancakes upgraded with cinnamon brown sugar and icing. Friends got Hawaiian roll breakfast slides and eggs Benedict. For the most part, our food was standard diner quality breakfast food which is not a bad thing. Potatoes were soft but not seasoned enough. I don't recommend the Cinnamon bun pancakes. The icing was not even icing. It was a strange, grainy, bland sauce.Service was good. Waiter very nice and engaging. Their prices are very reasonable and probably a dollar or two cheaper than most breakfast places"
"We went for a brunch on a Saturday and it was a good experience. I was running late but they seated the rest of the party and we appreciated that. The salsa de molcajete was so, so good. So good, in fact, that our table ordered three chilaquiles de salsa de molcajete. The coffee was not cafe de olla but they did make the "regular" coffee taste like cafe de olla. Service was friendly and fast. They even brought out a birthday cake celebrate a birthday in our group.Would recommend for brunch!"
"Great spot, small taqueria. Pretty straight forward menu, classic taqueria style.Cash only.Good fresh ingredients and friendly service. Two tacos will do you justice for lunch. 3 if you like a larger meal."
"The food at Tecalitlan is very good, but it is nothing special. You definitely will not be disappointed but it is just missing something to get it over the edge. Fortunately, it comes out incredibly quickly. It was maybe 5 minutes from order to getting my food. Once you get your food, the staff will mostly leave you alone, which is great for enjoying the meal, but you may have to flag someone to pay and leave."
"This place as always never disappoints me or my son. We love visiting this place when we are nearby. Everything from the food, staff and environment are always so welcoming and friendly. My son loves their pupusas and I love them too but I always like to try something new and different. Please feel free to visit them if you are in the Albany Park area."
"We came to eat here around 9pm on a Saturday and to my surprise it was pretty empty but nonetheless we were hungry and craving some good tacos. We ordered the queso fundido with chorizo to start. Oh em gee! Literally so delicious I highly recommend this as a starter. A few of us ordered the steak tacos, others ordered nachos and burritos. Everyone was super happy with their food. The photos that I posted of the food were pretty dark because inside the restaurant it was a very low lit romantic vibe going on. Definitely recommend for a date night. The service was very fast and the waiters polite."
"Picked up a couple burritos and some guac a few nights ago from Mr. Salsa. The burritos were great, and a pretty good portion. The guac was better than I expected. We also ordered the nachos - for anyone out there who loves cheese sauce, know that these nachos only have shredded on them. I'd be willing to give the tacos a try next time!"
"I'm a little sad I didn't visit Estrella Negra before this spring! I've been missing out. This is a great little neighborhood spot with fresh flavors and a well designed menu. We tried a range of items including salsas, flautas, and a soup. The cocktails were also really fresh and flavorful. I'll definitely be back. The flautas in particular were fantastic and the salsas were so fresh and bright. Service was solid. No wait when we arrived for an early dinner on a weeknight but it filled up quickly."
