Neither myself nor the friend that I went with are vegans. Yet we found ourselves in love with Potato Croquettes, the sliders, and the Pan Seared Cauliflower. Our waiter was lovely and very attentive. My only complaint is that this place is dark. It is nearly pitch black inside the restaurant, and the space is very small. That made it challenging to have a conversation and truly enjoy my time there."

"Everything went well.Don't live far from here and always come when I have a taste for guaranteed goodness. The menu isn't large and that's great because the few things on there are done to perfection. I always experiment with cocktails and entree pairings but the charred octopus is my staple appetizer. Parking in the front is ample and the prices are reflective of the quality. Wait staff is attentive without being overbearing and the vibe is light and airy. Spacious digs with outdoor seating and dog accommodations outside as well. You can't be disappointed with the seasonings and although dessert isn't on the menu the do have a couple things the wait staff can riddle off without a stutter. Love it"

My favorite kind of spot that totally owns its originality and makes anyone feel welcomed and at-home.I tried the Nashville hot chicken sandwich, wings, and parmesan pepper tots. The tots are addicting comfort food that I absolutely recommend not skipping. I appreciate that they have great vegan options and imagine the whole menu translates really well to takeout, if that's the kind of vibe you're feeling instead. The sandwich was super filling and not overly spicy, if you're a spice hesitant person.I grabbed a cider on tap and also tried the Cosmo Cloud cocktail, served with cotton candy and an absolute treat. I don't think I could do more than one (especially since this drink comes with a shaker full of cocktail remains...so it almost drinks like two cocktails) but I highly recommend giving it a go if you're in a sweet tooth kind of mood.Cannot wait until my next visit to South Street and Tmoms! It was very busy at lunch with what looked like local business people, but cleared out by 2pm when we headed out.The atmosphere at this restaurant is great, very casual and cute environment. Perfectly shaded outdoor pergola with a shade that allowed a lot of filtered light through. Very cute planters as well.The service was great - attentive but not hovering. My lemonade came in a dirty glass, but it was quickly switched out. Food came out quickly once we ordered.We ordered the pork sandwich, the turkey sandwich, the burger, 2 caesar salads, corn bread, and fries all around. The fries were perfectly cooked and salted. The pork sandwich was a bit too much bread, but the filling was fantastic. Everyone was very happy with their food!Great lunch time spot."

"One of the finest culinary experiences in South Philadelphia and possibily all of Philadelphia but is it worth it?I changed my mind approximately four times on choosing a restaurant to go to for a big birthday number for myself however I decided upon Laurel as this birthday was a milestone and I had never had a wine pairing dinner before this occasion which Laurel offered.First of six courses started with a magical presentation of two large oysters over gorgeous rock pebbles that had water poured into them by our server to elicit a smoke rise from the small bowl. Presentation A++. Oysters were bathed in Honey and Camomile on the left side of the oyster. This was a great way to start the experience but I feel obligated to mention when you break down the cost you just ate a $30.00 oyster LOL. Ahhh...Talk about splurging for a birthday.I enjoyed all the wine pairings except the last pairing for dessert. Only criticism I have concerning the wine pairing is I hear most venue's refill pretty quickly once you finish the glass. One of the servers refilled my glass once. Now to be fair the food is coming out very fast at this restaurant, entree after entree very quickly, so it is hard to really time to refill a patron's glass before the next entree/wine pairing, but for $115 for premium wine pairing I think that is worth a mention. You can choose the $85 wine pairing or the $115 premium wine pairing, in my opinion if you are electing to go to a restaurant of this stature opt for the premium and trust the wine sommelier that they task with this service.To summarize, romantic atmosphere creating an intimate dining experience with delicious high end food accompanied with elegant service. Only you can decide if you prefer a more traditional dining experience that is more laid back or a six course set menu prepared by some of the finest culinary masters.As always people SYOY!!!"

One of the best happy hours in the city.I took my partner here for his birthday, and it happened to also be happy hour during the time our reservation was scheduled - boy, that saved me a lot! The happy hour had one of the best selections of food and drinks, and you don't need a spot at the bar to take advantage. The service was fantastic too - all the staff were sweet, energetic and engaging. They were quick with great recommendations. We thought the focaccia bread was a little overrated, especially because we preferred to fill up on their pasta (the non-happy hour crab pasta entree was to die for). But we tried so many (not watered down!) happy hour cocktails and plates. The ambiance is also beautiful and laid back. A place you'd want to spend hours in. Definitely worth it and a great value. "We've always heard good things about the Good King Tavern, but never thought to come by. I'm really glad we finally checked it out last month because all the good things we heard are true.I have to admit what really brought us here was the fact that they're DOG FRIENDLY! Since we came with our dog, we had to sit outside, but there are plenty of tables inside for indoor dining as well. Even though the outdoor seating area is on the sidewalk, this street is pretty quiet with not a lot of foot or car traffic, which makes this set up so ideal. There is also an awning attached to the restaurant, keeping guests protected from the sun or light rain. As for the food, everything we had from the beginning to end was delicious and on point. During dinner, my husband knocked over his glass of wine. Even though this was completely his fault, our server felt bad and comped our dessert, which was incredibly nice of her. Overall, we all had a great time. Service was great, and the food was very delicious. A lot of times, when we bring our dog out to eat with us, we have to sacrifice eating well. But NOT at the Good King Tavern. Here, we can have our cake and eat it too. I foresee us having a lot of doggie dinner dates here!"

We got a few salads and pizzas and I didn't get the chance to take pics of everything before my family dug in. Last night two friends and I met for dinner, and it was one of the best experiences I've ever had here!I had made a reservation for 5:30pm. We all arrived early and they were happy to seat us early. They were starting to get busy (by the time we left the place was completely packed!). Our server, Mirabel (?), was wonderful -- very friendly, attentive, and accurate. Since it was the others' first time, I insisted they try the Estia Chips, which are a crowd favorite. Indeed, it was better than I'd remembered; in fact, one of the gentlemen in our party said it was "the best zucchini he's ever had." The house bread and hummus were also delicious; their hummus is one of the best.I opted for the Avgolemono (soup) and Dolmades as my meal -- both of which I've had on multiple prior occasions. Portions and temperatures were perfect and the flavor was out of this world! We all enjoyed glasses of wine (rose for me). No dessert as we were all pretty full.I am so happy I had a chance to come back and will continue to recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area. It was a hot day but the fans kept it pretty cool. The staff was very accommodating with my 83 year old mom and my husband who need to be near a fan. The place has a relaxed vibe. The margaritas were very good. Our server asked if we wanted sugar or salt. The food was delicious! The empanadas were nicely fried without being greasy. The birria tacos had tender beef, good flavor and the dipping broth was tasty. The chicken tacos also had good flavor and weren't overly spicy."

"Another couple and ourselves live in Bensalem and go to Center City Philly often. We usually spend our time in the Gayborhood, Old City, Rittenhouse Square, or South Street. Dont go to often to Fishtown, so we dont know a lot of places there. This past Saturday we went to Lloyds Cocktail Bar after searching VisitPhilly for a place to go in Fishtown after a show at the Arden Theater. We just hoped on the El to Girard Ave.The coctails were great, the food was great and the service excellent. In fact our group regularly drinks at home a little known cocktail made with Suntory Toki Japanese Whiskey and since they had Toki behind the bar we asked the bartender if he would make it for us if we told him how. He said yes, he made it and it was great. We'll definitely be returning."

Buying drinks with a credit card and they add 20% tip, per all the signs we saw. They had high noons not in sight but they do carry them (white claws give me a headache). "I love going to a place where the waiter is in love with the menu. Nestor took care of us tonight. It really heightened the experience to have someone going over the menu and making suggestions that they seemed genuinely excited for us to try. Honestly some of the things we would've never chosen for ourselves and they turned out to be the best. It was also my wife's birthday so we were given a glass of champagne for her and ginger ale for me. Such a nice gesture. For instance the prosciutto with the horseradish kind of scared us, but the horse radish was so subtle. It came with something similar to an Asian crispy noodle. There was a crispy pork dish with pineapples that was absolutely delicious. Fritti I think was the dish. Nestor explained to us how it's made and why it's so good. The roasted beets were delicious. The Burrata salad was so good. It was a very different mix of tastes that would make no sense if described separately but spectacular when combined. Like Captain Planet. For my main dish Casoncelli is what was suggested to me. It was fantastic. I also got the crispy potatoes. They were perfectly crispy and good but I don't recommend wasting space on them. The cannoli cheese cake was amazing. We were bursting at the seams after all this food. Portions are perfect. We are already planning to return for brunch."

A new dessert to us was Affogato - a delicious mix of salted caramel gelato, whipped cream and a piece of Biscotti served with a small pitcher of coffee to pour around the dish. "Hip bar with amazing drinks and tasty food! We were staying at the AKA Rittenhouse hotel and decided to have drink our second night (on a Sunday evening). We truly wished we would of came here our first night. First off, we were surprised how busy the bar was on a Sunday. It wasn't packed but nearly every seat was taken. We tried some of their different drinks with quirky names which were generously poured and crafted with care. The bartender on our end of the bar was friendly with everyone and his drinks were so good. The bar is dimly lit but not to dim that you need your phone to read the drink menu. We ordered some food to take back to our room which included the crispy oyster mushrooms, beet salad, and fettucine- all were delicious!! We will definitely be back!"

I've had them at other places, but these are amazing. The suggestion of the chicken wings was a pleasant surprise. Really good. And how can you not have Dan Dan noodles? Spice was on point and balanced. The 3 cup chicken in presentation was good, but in flavor and taste was great. Everything I tasted was flavorful. But the restaurant itself beautiful. This place is a gem. I'm feeling cultured and junk now."

"The experience I had here, drinking a dark and stormy with the windows wide open on a gorgeous spring day in Philly, is what 5 star dreams are made of. I am excited to go back and try out more of the food items, but the bar is well-priced and they have a fantastic happy hour. This part of South will surely have a bit more foot traffic now that Jim's is back open, and Milkboy is a fab part of this re-renaissance.They have a great upstairs space here that hosts everything from comedy to cover bands, and you can't beat the vibes in the bar space as well.
