Cat N. "I've been wanting to check out FINKA for quite some time now.I finally had reservations to dine here for a late lunch while I was out in Miami. I dined here during 4th of July and it was busy but not super busy. There was no wait and no reservations probably would have been fine. I came with one other person and got seated right away. We ended up ordering the following to share: Grill Anticucho Octopus- This was two octopus legs that was served with some crispy fried potatoes and a delicious red sauce. I really enjoyed it and it was a nice start to our meal. I highly recommend it if you like octopus. KFC- This was their version of korean fried chicken. The outer sauce was super sweet but I liked it. It came with a boniato bread that tasted almost like banana bread and was super moist and sweet. I didn't think it went with the chicken but it was really good on its own. As for the chicken, it was very moist and came out as 4 large pieces fried perfectly. Gochujang Noodles- This dish was slightly spicy and used sweet potato clear glass noodles. There were snow peas, large pieces of shrimp, cabbage, and other veggies. I really enjoyed it. We originally asked our server if 3 items was enough food because we were afraid it wouldn't be enough. She said it would be fine and I'm glad she did because it was the perfect amount without any leftovers (we didn't want to bring back food). The service was excellent. The server was really knowledgable and helpful. She also kept checking up on us to make sure we were okay. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful. It has such a nice vibe and the bar area is really nice. It's great for small groups or large groups. The pricing here was reasonable. Parking is easy since they have their own lot. I would definitely come back."

The outdoor seating was pretty packed so I can only imagine what it was like inside. My server was very busy but still very professional and kind. Parking wasn't an issue but it was Thursday. I'm sure it gets pretty hectic on the weekends. I would definitely come back to try their more "complex" items on the menu."

My favorite was this torched yellowtail jalapeño roll. We also got the spicy tuna roll, but the price wasn't worth the amount of rolls it came with. The croqueta appetizer was great, pig ears were too salty (basically left untouched), and lamb chops were amazing!!! I'd come back just for the lamb chops and sushi"

We sat down and we're introduced to our waiter Alexis, the table they originally had for us was a little bit tight, when we brought it to his attention, he quickly took us to a different part of the restaurant behind the wine cellar that was extremely comfortable for a party of eight. We started the evening with cocktails, we had everything from white wine, to Mojitos, to a spicy passionfruit kettle one vodka with jalapeños, a margarita and then an old-fashioned. For dinner we had a Bronzino, several 10 ounce filet mignon and a few racks of lamb. For dessert we had a chocolate brownie with a vanilla ice cream that was decadent. It was a fabulous culinary experience."

I loved the spicy jaja margarita and they call me Bruce cocktails.I shared the hamachi jalapeño, spicy bluefin tuna roll, dragon roll, and Brussels sprouts. These were all so fresh and tasty. I also tried the korean fried chicken, which was delicious and spicy as well. Service was pretty quick and overall a great experience!"

I ordered a Margarita and it was good, but mainly ice and a bit on the weak side. He liked the Prime Whiskey Sour. He said it was well balanced. The filet mignon we ordered was OK. It was not bad nor good enough to pay $89 for. The Brussel sprouts were not good. They were overflowed in our opinion. I did really enjoy the cheesy scalloped potatoes. The Caesar salad was OK. I had to ask for more dressing. The baked potato did not have enough oomph. It was pretty bland and they forgot the chives. Last, was the fried oreos. These were very good but I could only eat one. The night was pleasant but certain aspects could have been improved."

Brie F. "We came here for a quick drink prior to our anniversary dinner. Stepping foot into Moreno's Cuba transported us to our long lost Cuban great grandmother's kitchen. We started off with a Coconut Mojito and a Mango Mojito . I always end up loving my honey's drink more than mine. His Coconut Mojito was on point! I'm usually not a fan of coconut unless it's a piña colada or holiday Coquito. Yes, I know that's weird but his drink was phenomenal. It was so good that we ended up trading the second round. I ordered the same thing he had and then we came back again the following day.The food menu looks pretty good. I told my hunny we should come back to grab a bite to eat. We couldn't dine in due to our anniversary dinner being elsewhere, but we did order the Ropa Vieja Empanadas with Cilantro Sauce. The empanadas were 3.5 out of 5. The cilantro sauce was the saving grace because it was mouthwatering amazing. Moreno's Cuba combines an eclectic style where vintage Miami meets Old Havana. Everything about this place is authentic from the old-school car outside where you can post a photo app to the lively music coming from the bar. Everything about this place is spot on this is where you need to be if you want to unwind relax or even dance a little bit. There's a 1950s Chevy Bel Air that adorns the walkway. There's outdoor seating with a funky vibe, couches, patio chairs, and a museum filled with exotic pictures, velvets, lamps, and a pretty ambience."

Toro Toro

★★★★☆ 4.2 (1359) • $$$

Paul W. "It should be noted that one reason Toro Toro seems to have such a high overall rating is because many of the 5 star reviews for this restaurant were quite obviously posted following a Yelp sponsored event that was held here (the photos even show everyone wearing name badges), and several attendees reviewed this restaurant rather than the listing for the event itself.I recently came here for dinner with a work colleague; Toro Toro is located toward the rear of the lobby, just inside the main entrance to the Intercontinental Hotel. I'm not sure who makes up their primary clientele, but from my experience, the overwhelming majority of people at the bar that's located adjacent to the entrance of this restaurant are often either staying here or attending functions at this hotel.Toro Toro was a decent restaurant and is a red meat-centric Argentinean-based eatery. For starters we had the grilled octopus and the guacamole chilindron which was guac with small chunks of pork belly and friend plantain chips. Both were quite good. For our main course we shared the Toro Toro Skewer which is basically this restaurant's take on a parrillada or mixed grill, with no actual skewers in sight. We also had a side of truffle fries which was good and the truffle was (thankfully) not overpowering, as well as the fried brussel sprouts which, to me, were way too rich, sweet and salty. The food here was quite good, but I've had better proper Argentinean elsewhere which was more flavorful, for less $$. If in the mood for steak, I've been to higher-end steakhouses where I've also enjoyed better meals, again for less. Service here was excellent all night from both our server and the bus staff, and the 2 managers who were working throughout our meal checked in on us no fewer than 3 times which was appreciated and something one doesn't often experience, especially in Miami."

I put in "seafood" for Little Havana, and this is what came up, although they had only a few seafood dishes. The hostess was unbothered. She took her time getting up off of her stool where she was fanning herself in order to haphazardly seat us. Thankfully, we had to go to the ladies' room, and when we returned, someone else was in our seat. Thus, we were able to be seated in a more welcoming space. Our happy efficient server made it better.Perfect guava daiquiri! Happy hour was buy one get one free! The tropical salad was delicious! The burger was good, but I expected more guava barbecue sauce to Cubanize it. The pork rice and beans dish was good as well, except the pork was a little dry.The live band began to play at 6:00, as did the DJ in the back. That was worth staying alone! They started doing fireworks at the bar, and other people started dancing. It was a great night. Worth returning."

The meat didn't feel like filet mignon but then again, it's such a small amount of meat that how can anyone really tell. Also had the handcut beef with chimichurry empanada and that was very good. The bread they brought to the table I wasn't a fan of. The texture was spongy and the spread had no flavor in my opinion. It was on the sweet side. The duck confit was delish, loved every bite. The only thing I would say is that I wish it would've been warmer. When it arrived to the table it was room temperature and I enjoy my food warm.My friend had the empanada with Prosciutto and the pasta with meat which she loves, since she is a regular.Service was pretty good, they come and fill your water cup very often and are pretty attentive. Only thing I would say is that they removed the tablet that had the sauces for the empanadas without asking if we were done with them and I was not finished so that was a drawback. But besides that, I think it's a great place to check out."

Monica L. "This restaurant accommodated our large group of 20 and I must say that I was impressed with EVERYTHING they sent over. Service was wonderful and the patio was classy and breezy. The tables were set up and ready for us as soon as we got there, and food came out right after we ordered drinks.Cocktails/mocktails: Our group had a bunch of both, and they were all very good. I'm partial to mezcal drinks, so I really liked their options on that. The mocktail group really liked the lychee mocktail, though some found it too sweet. Hummus/dips sampler platter: All of the hummus was good--my favorite was surprisingly the beet (I don't actually think this was hummus). It was lightly sweet and beet-fragrant, and I honestly ate it on its own because it was so good. Pita was also toasty and made just right. Ground meat kabobs: I didn't want to butcher the name, so I just left it with the description. They were like little meatballs, which were a bit dense. I actually wish they were slightly bigger in the hopes that it wouldn't be as firm after being cooked, but flavor was great.Chicken kabobs: This is chicken breast meat, and it was incredibly tender and juicy. Usually I avoid this dish as most places make it dry and not very good, but Komma made it perfectly--we had around 4 giant dishes of this and it was done well every time.Grilled vegetables: You can't go wrong with grilled vegetables, assuming it was cooked through. This was, and it actually paired well with our leftover dips/hummus. Dessert platter: The lava cake was a giant favorite, as well as the baklava. To be fair, the baked rice pudding was also good, but I thought it was a bit plain. I generally prefer middle eastern baklava and Indian kheer though, so it's definitely just a preference thing. My fiance was wildly into their other dessert, which was some sort of custard wrapped in phyllo. Basically, everyone liked at least one or more of all the desserts. Go with what your taste buds usually like and you won't be disappointed. Our giant group waddled out the restaurant satiated and incredibly happy. I highly recommend coming here for large events/parties, or just for a romantic date night."

Lorie N. "Staying in Downtown Miami, there's one thing that's clear. It's a city that is spectacular when you can see it from a restaurant with a view like this one. On the 16th floor of the Kimpton Epic Hotel, Area 31 is stunning on its own just for the location. Walking into it, you are already impressed by its chic modern interior. Floor to ceiling windows showcase the towering lit up high rises that surround you. It's only when you walk out onto the terrace that you get the full scope of how grand the view really is. Look down and you'll see the waterways that are lined with million dollar yachts. Don't forget to wave at them as they go by.For the views alone, this place is 5 stars. For the food and service, this is where it lacks.. Our server Danilo was a smooth talker- well versed and knew the menu to sell us on the best stuff. But when it came to coming in to do follow ups to answer our questions about individual dishes, it was apparent that they were under staffed. Had it not been for the gal that was refilling our waters, we would not have been able to track Danilo down. Here's the breakdown: *Parmesan & Herb Crusted Scallops $35.00: creamy sweet corn purée, tomato charred corn relish, herb oil-- The scallops were super tender, sautéed perfectly with a nice crunch on the tops of them. Loved these. *East Coast Oysters $40.00: champagne mignonette, lemon wedge: If you love oysters, these are a must as they were fresh and melted on your tongue. Add in the tiny spoonful of champagne mignonette and these were amazing.*Lobster Mac $20.00: orecchiette pasta, smoked gouda cheese, fresh maine lobster, herbed panko-- Hands down probably the best Lobster Mac I've ever tried. The smoked gouda cheese sauce melted on the pasta was creamy and complimented the tender chunks of fresh lobster meat. Herbed panko was chef's kiss here as it gave it the crunchiness that was so good.*Surf and Turf (Market Price): Whole Main Lobster, Filet Mignon and whipped mashed potatoes: Filet Mignon was exactly how I imagined some good quality steak should taste. Slightly rare, seared nicely on the outside, juicy and tender + marinated just right so there was no need for any extra salt or pepper. *Side of mashed potatoes: Have you ever tried mashed potatoes that don't taste like mashed potatoes anymore because they've been over whipped? That is the only way to describe these-- as if there was too much cream that was poured in and the potatoes got lost in the mixture. The Lobster (which was supposed to be the star) was also where we ran into some issues. I'm not sure if this was just a bad one but it had a "chalky" taste that didn't sit quite right with us. When we mentioned it to our server Danilo, he apologized and said he would go talk to someone yet no one ever approached us to address the situation. We had to flag down our water gal and she went to go talk to our Danilo again. By this time, the food had gotten *cold* and the rest of the lobster left untouched in its shell. A manager finally came by 10 minutes later and said that this was a rare occurrence for someone to complain about their lobster as they set themselves to high standards when it comes to seafood. She offered to have them make another one but both of us were already stuffed from the meal. We declined the offer and instead just had her clear the table. By the end of our time, the manager told us she would take the "lobster" part of the meal off of the bill but she said that this really never happens. It was almost as if she made us feel like she was doing us a favor by taking it off. Not going to lie, it made me feel a certain type of way because it's not something we would lie about. What's it to her to take off that part of the bill and just apologize and thank us for coming instead? That was my only quip about this spot. Other than that, I would still recommend this spot for a great place just to take pics and enjoy a great view of Downtown Miami."

Mio K. "Such a relaxed and comfortable place to eat. I went on a rainy day for lunch and it had the great service and all the right dishes for the ooey gooey, crunchy, juicy, crispy cravings. They have cocktails for $15-18 and glasses of wine for $12, and a glass of lightly fruited Sauvignon Blanc in a thick walled glass with the lunch was what I needed to ease myself out of the hectic day.The restaurant looks like someone's cabin was modified to hold tables and chairs. They have various trinkets, framed pictures, paintings decorating the walls and corners of the place, giving it that homely feel. It must have been especially noticeable because of the rainy day and the decided day to enjoy company and conversation. We shared the Spicy Brussels sprouts ($10) which was sizable despite being a side dish, plenty to share. The crisp and slight char of the Brussels sprouts was so satisfying with the savory slightly spicy seasoning. I got an Impossible burger ($18) with Swiss cheese (+$2) which was freaking incredible. They charred the edges of the Impossible patty, which I didn't even know was possible, so that I had a nice crunch to the patty with every bite along with the crunch of the potato sticks that were inside, between a fluffy pretzel bun (swoon). It's so hard to find pretzel bun burgers, much less ones I would want to eat, and I found mine here. I would wholeheartedly recommend this burger to any meat eating diner and dare them to find something wrong with it! Especially because the house cut fries that come with the burger are chef's kiss superb. They're superbly crispy but light and not greasy and nicely salted to go with a dip of ketchup. What I liked to see is that they offer a few brunch items on their lunch menu so that you can pretend like it's the weekend if you're having a weekday lunch. They also do not charge different prices for the same dishes during lunch vs. dinner, which I feel is a common practice with restaurants, so I don't feel at a disadvantage if I return for dinner.Service was great despite it being clear that one or two servers only were staffing the floor. We were never waiting or missing items for very long. I left right before happy hour was going to start (4-7 PM), so I'll have to return for it!"
