La Casona - Wharton

First time in a long time eating there.Picked up the Wife yesterday and decided on dinner there.Nice Devore, fantastic waitress, and decided on beef enchiladas and one tamale! Wife got a chili rellenos.The food was very good and the Wife enjoyed a margarita.Great convenient place to go with great service!!

I came here for a quick dinner and was not disappointed. There was a bit of a wait after I was seated, but I was served the requisite chips and salsa and was given plenty of time to look at the menu. I ordered the Chile rellenos with chopped chicken, and it was excellent. The rice was also very well prepared with just the right amount of spice. The dish came with flour tortillas and they were some of the best I've had in a long time. The waitress was nice enough to bring me more when I asked, and they really were some of the best I've had. The service was very good and I even got a 10 percent discount for checking in on Yelp. The menu was very extensive and I'm looking forward to going back to try some of their other dishes.

Decided to stop here on the way home from the cruise, and found they had better Mexican food than the ship had!! ‍ Great service, the chili is fantastic, food fresh and hot. I wish it wasn't so far from corpus or this would seriously be our go to spot for Mexican food....from now on.

In town for business and came in on a Tue evening for dinner. Was pleasantly surprised to see it busy--must mean it's good! Sat in the bar area and Jocelyn took good care of me. The chips and salsa was very tasty. Dinner was tasty--Chile Vallarta Seafood. Chose the charro beans over refried and they were tasty. The margaritas (regular, rocks) were pretty weak--I normally cannot handle more than one, but after two, I feel fine--they were OK. Corn tortillas were average. Overall, everything was very tasty. If I'm back in the area again, I'll be back.

Great food, good beer, nice friendly staff. Carne Guisada was great! The salsa is really bland. Almost like something you would dip fried cheese sticks in. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars.

Anything but the crawfish. No taste and super dirty. Everything else is great. Service is good too. Confronted manager and explained that it could make some people sick and proceeded to say he didn't care. And to not order them next time.

Very good food. I enjoyed it. Not Mexican- Tex-Mex. But good place. I am writing more so they post it.

Food Was great and reasonably priced. A little more attention by waitress would have been appreciated but will most likely be back!

The refried beans taste canned. The bartender makes my gin and tonic with mineral water and tells me that how they make a gin and tonic. The fajita meat was dry to the point of being jerky. The wait staff is inexperienced and does an extremely poor job of performing there duties. Paid a $22 tab with a twenty and a ten dollar bill. The waitress just assumed the $8 was her tip , never returned to the table to check, just kept the money. This has happened several times to me and a person I was with who bought me dinner on a different visit. Done with this place.

My "go to place" for fish tacos. Always good service & consistently good Mexican food. Friendly staff. Great variety of food.
