"Defiantly a Dive bar . Great games and jukebox , dance floor small . Could defiantly make the drinks stronger . But you get what you pay for. Local bar"
"I can't say I'm a regular here. This dive bar has been a neighborhood institution for decades. I think I snuck in a couple times in high school in the early 90's. All the Bellaire kids were doing it. Since then I've only been maybe twice . My friend's daughter plays in a band and they often play on the back patio. They bring in a huge crowd and it's a great time! They have steak night and if karaoke is your thing, well they have that too. Just visit their FB page for more details. Like I mentioned, totally a dive neighborhood bar. No frills, just good people ."
"Charbar is certainly a place where you fellas can escape away from the misses. Grab a cocktail, get your shoes shined and get fitted for a brand new suit at this two-in-one downtown staple. (Yes, I can count. Just hear me out.)Duke the Hollywood Tailor has been in bizz since the 30s, and it wasn't until seven years ago when they incorporated the bar, Charbar. The two story venue features tables, a bar, a shoe shining area and walls of glass cabinets filled with fabric, along with old photos of members of the family-owned business. Upstairs you'll find another bar, dimly lit and welcoming to those who like to feel like they're in an actual bar. I won't go any further to describe it, just check it out for yourself. The clientele ranges from the after-work crowd, old skool cats in bright suits, young sweet thangs ('cause they know this is where the gentlemen go) and regulars who plan private parties (like baby showers, yes baby showers) in the upstairs bar. If you do plan a private party here, management does allow you to bring in outside food. Now for the good stuff: cocktails. They're *strong* and filled to the rim, so you just might have to sip your glass while it's still sitting on the bar until it's safe to pick it up. Last time, it took me a good hour to get through my first extra dirty martini; it was that strong. But no complaints here. And the staff is as friendly as they come. You'll find the owner with his raspy voice and a measuring strip around his neck chatting up clientele, along with his son Jeremy and daughter (oooh, I'll write in her name as soon as it comes to me) serving up some more famous bevs. The beer and wine selection aren't that big, but like i said, they're known for their stiff cocktails, so do it right and order one next time you swing by."
"Cool, little place with a cool vibe and nice bartender that doesn't keep you waiting. Inside is small, but there's plenty of room outside. They also have fires around for when it's cold outside. Maybe not the best place in the middle of summer, but when it's not blazing hot outside, it's a great place to go and have a few cold ones."
"A great "True Texan Dive Bar" atmosphere. Rose is friendly and I truly enjoyed coming here. It's a great place to meet people and in my opinion is better than other bars in the area. Beers for $2 and wine for $3 and setups for $2. A great bar!"
"Fun whiskey bar in eclectic neighborhood! Video games, full bar as well as indoor/outdoor seating! Was packed on a Saturday night!"
"It's everything I've ever hoped for and wanted in a satanic bar. Truly, perfection. From the scary facade in front with the tiny neon Black Magic Social Club sign to the dark and creepy inside with red glowing walls and skulls and pentagrams and all things gothy metal satanic perfection. Drinks served in super cheap plastic cups but they're ridiculously strong. I think the only food served is Cheetos. And pool is free on Tuesday nights. Service is so friendly always. My home away from home if I lived in hell. Or is this actually heaven?"
"All eyes on me in the center of the ring just like a circus. When I crack that whip, everybody gon' trip just like a circus...Ah, Britters. You coulda shot your hot and *amazing* circus vid right here at Shoeshine Charley's. Everyone else thoroughly described the kitchy decor at Shoeshine Charley's Big Top Lounge, so I won't bore you, but I just want to add that I love the velvet Pink Panther poster/painting. I came here for the first time on one of Houston's most recent rainiest night (Which one, you ask? I know. We've had so many lately.). An ex-coworker was in town, Flyp P, so a bunch of us were out to kick it ol' skool. By the time I got there, everyone was "on a different level," but I played catch-up with a few glasses of their house wine. Not too shabby.Get this: No cover and there was a lively honky tonk band playing. A few patrons were out on the small and dark dancefloor having a blast, including a woman doing turns and twirls in her electric wheelchair. I think I've just arrived to Awesometown, y'all. We moved the party outside--for the smokers and just to hear ourselves think--and played a few games of Pac Man, checked out the *ancient* jukebox and just kicked it. The bartender was a hell of a lot nicer than the ones at CC and faster, too. When closing time came, my friend John K and I were content to see our bar tabs were insanely small. Flyp-dawg, however, had a larger tab than expected for drinking Lone Stars all night. Methinks a few of our drinks made it onto his tab. Whoops. We'll getcha next time, brah. I like this place and give 'em two thumbs up. Impress your date or out of town friends by making a night of it here, along with The Continental Club, The Mink, and Tacos A Go-Go just a few steps away. This is why I love H-town. Variety, folks."
"I was so excited to see this come into our area. Sometimes you want a good drink at dinner that isn't wine or beer. Now that we are all stuck at home, this was a nice little car ride. The owner is so friendly and nice. That's a big deal to me. You want to help a great owner make it. He is so knowledgeable about his product and will let you try what you want. They have a lot of choices and you can even add flavors to your drink to make it a little different. His prices are not bad and cheaper then any concert around. I have a photo of his choices, flavors and prices to show. I really hope they do well and stay here. It's a great place!!"
"I have been coming to this bar for several years. The staff is friendly and the drinks are made to perfection. The bar features steak and shrimp night on Monday nights, live music on Tuesday nights, and Burger Night on Thursdays. The daytime bar tenders put out something to eat at lunch time, so if you are in the area at lunch time, you can get a cold drink and a quick bite."
"I really enjoy this newish casual bar. With great happy hour and daily specials, great bar food, plus a roomy outdoor patio, this place makes a great stop for the evening.I've been here a couple times now for weekday happy hour and chilling with friends. This place doesn't really get crowded then, which is fine by me. They do offer a limited menu serving up some classic bar food including burgers, wings, nachos, etc. My last visit was on a Wednesday, when they were offering a daily special of six wings for six dollars. I chose the buffalo lemon pepper flavor, and man were they tasty and good sized! I also loved that they offered guava cider on tap, which is not something you find often. The patio is my favorite feature though. There's a covered space with barstools and mostly not covered space available. At night, the glow of string lights illuminate the patio space in a nice pinkish hue. Another feature I love is the TouchTunes jukebox, which one can easily use digitally by downloading the app.Definitely will be returning! They advertise having a dj on the weekend."

This place puts the "dive" in dive bar. But the steaks on Thursday night steak night are excellent and affordable. The service is affable. Drinks are reasonable. And the outdoor patio is actually ok despite the busy street nearby and strip mall location.I wouldn't go here for drinks, not my scene. But the thursday night steak night is incredibly popular for a reason. 5 stars for that.

What a great, quiet, local bar right by Market Square. Came in on a Tuesday night and there was only a handful of people there so drinks came quick and were strong! They have an awesome patio on the 2nd floor, outside, overlooking the city. It was a great spot to sit around and catch up with friends. Worth a stop in if you are looking for somewhere quiet to chat.

Parking is hit or Missa as, it's located. in middle of what has become a centre of resturants and bars . My favourite thing here is the monthly ? Markets . It is also I want ba tequila and dos XX. I give it 5 stars because, it is what it is a dive and it succeeds

Rose Garden is a throw back dive that is slowing being surrounded by townhomes in Sunset Heights. The bar is of the last remaining ice houses that was purpose-built in the 1930's to serve the predominantly Polish (read beer guzzling) residents of the time. There's no booze, but you can bring your own.The owner, Rose Marie, is behind the bar and knows as much about the regulars as she does about her family. Newbies shouldn't be intimidated. She's accomodating. So show up with your buddies, but don't act like assholes. Rose stood up to a shot gun wielding bandit last Fall. She'll have no qualms about smacking you five across the lips. What you really need to know:+ the jukebox kicks ass+ good timing will result homemade Polish sausages on the house+ lovers of velvet Elvi will be in heaven+ ordering a Heineken will result in ridicule, get a Lone Star instead

What makes this dive bar unique is its feminist/provocative decoration, extensive whisky and bourbon selection, and the pinball machines in the back. The beer selection was okay. I got to sample one of their dark beers on draft, the B-52, which had a balanced coffee/toasty flavor. Ended up ordering different canned beer to try out but regret no having ordered the B-52 one. It looks like they're dog-friendly, which is always a plus. :)

Wow what a great venue for small shows! Sound is great and the vibe is exactly what I wanted to recharge my energy! Bartender was cool af! Also not sure about food but you got places near by
Visit Restaurant Page"Finally made it to Sassafras and it definitely lived up to the hype! What a wonderful neighborhood dive bar, full of friendly locals who would love to chat. Parking in the front may be small but there is a second (connected) lot in the back, follow the signs around the block and you'll come straight to the second lot. Full bar options with excellent homemade sangrias, both red and white. If you're looking for an intimate, casual place to hang out and have a low-key evening with friends, this is the bar for you."
"I've been here a couple of times to see various musicians and it's an okay environment, but the building just wasn't designed for live music. It sucks acoustically, no other way around it. The main room is very loud and guests will come and go, if they're not dancing in front of the stage, since there is limited seating. The back room has 2 pool tables and shuffleboard, although they board them up so customers can't play on them during performances. A vendor is usually set up selling bbq back there. Along the back wall of the back room is the hallway to the restrooms and back patio. As far as entry, they set up outside on the sidewalk and either charge a cover sometimes, or ask for a small donation to see the band/performer. However, the venue has 2 entrances, so if you were to enter from Shoeshine Charlies' bar next door, and proceed to the back hallway and keep walking it would lead to the rear of CC, thus bypassing the doorman. On nice evenings, most people seem to gravitate toward the back patio, The Pachinko Bar, which sort of has a tropical theme going on with a palm tree and a small open air bar building."
"It's close to home which is the only reason I go there, it is full of "bros" a lot of the time, but the drinks are made well and the patio is awesome. I love when Potbelly comes and plays! I have many memories here. The juke box is decent and has a pretty good selection. The most irritating issue in the Winter is that on the patio, the heaters don't work. I don't really think the owners are doing anything about that. Hopefully they will soon!"
"Great bar! Drinks were good. Very reasonably priced. Service was also top notch. Kasondra is the best! Basically saved my life. I'll be back."
"Dirt Bar is located right across the street from The House of Blues and seems to be the before and after event hangout. Recently, I've attended more and more shows at HOB and there is only a handful of places to pregame right next to the venue. This place is dark. Even in the daylight hours it's dark. To keep up with the dark theme, they have a giant skeleton as well as other spooky decorations. The music when I have been has always been some heavy metal played at the highest volume setting. Maybe I'm getting old, but I would like to see and hear when I hang out somewhere. Customer service was good. The bartenders are always pleasant. In my opinion, the drinks are ok but kind of high priced for what you get. Just within a stones throw from here, you have some pretty amazing cocktail bars that sells their drinks for similar prices. Dirt bar does have specials, so keep an eye out for those. I'm sure I'll be back at some point."
"There aren't many bars along West Alabama - except for West Alabama Ice House ... and then you have restaurant bars like Bocados, Triniti, Divino and so on ... but TK Bitterman's is the clear and only choice if you want a stiff drink in the area for cheap and without the need to "dress up." Remember, WAI only has beer and wine.TK's is a serious hole, but in a good way. Dog-friendly, pizza by the slice, darts, jukebox, locals-only. i'm a fan."
"Stopped yesterday evening and loved it! Not too crowded but just enough friendly people to strike up conversations with. Great atmosphere, loved how everyone knew each other it was like a big family get together I just wish I was closer so I could come out more often! The swings were comfy, just chill and watch very competitive cornhole players or engage in chit chats around you!"
"We were really surprised how much we liked this comfy but unassuming bar near Rice University on a recent late-night visit. We decided on the The Owl sort of by deduction, given that not much else in the area was open late on a weeknight. Expected a crowded, annoying college bar, we were pleased to find ice cold and refreshing white wine on tap for a great price and plenty of comfortable indoor and outdoor seating. The Owl is a nice option for laid-back drinks and conversation any time."
"Love this dive bar! The Christmas decor was very festive and added to the allure of the place. They have an outdoor rooftop area and downstairs patio area in addition to two floors of seating indoors. The hot dogs here are amazing, a must get! Fun place to hang with friends on a weekend night!"
"Why oh why did I wait so long to visit Moon Tower Inn. It is probably one of the oldest bookmarks I have on Yelp. Well, I finally pulled it from the bottom of that list and paid this place a visit. After a few cocktails nearby, we were looking for something to eat before heading home. Parking is street parking. You order your food and you have your choice of two types of outdoor seating. One under a covered patio type area or a large spacious open air patio. Both have plenty of communal type benches and tables. Customer service was great. The staff know their beers and their meat really well. Ask for suggestions and they will get you something you like. I will say, there is a wait after you order, so pack your patience. The only thing I knew about Moon Tower prior to coming was that they had great tubular meat. What I didn't know was that their selections were wild game that was totally chef'ed up. The offerings vary visit to visit, but they have the things like duck, pheasant, buffalo, pork, etc. So you pick what they call their World Famous Tubesteak and pick from a variety of their toppings. It's not your typical toppings either. It's things like sambal mayo, black pepper catsup or creole mustard for example. I got a rabbit with sambal mayo, fresh onion, feta cheese, fresh jalapeño and cilantro. I'm glad I only got one because this thing was hefty. It came on a pretzel bun that was the perfect vessel for the dog and toppings. The rabbit hot dog was absolutely delicious. It was seasoned to perfection and had that nice snap when I bit into it. It was my creation of flavors and toppings and I gotta say it was perfect. I also foolishly got a Fat Taco w/ beef thinking the hot dog wouldn't fill me up. I forced that upon myself, but it was delicious as well. I washed it all down with a Burlington Raspberry Whale Cake beer, which was a fruity cream ale. Delicious! Burgers are also an option which can be made with chicken or veggies as well. If I lived closer, I would be here atleast once a week. I can't wait to go back!"
"Orla is a pretty cool person to meet. Ask to meet her and introduce yourself. She's one of those owners who just keeps it real. She opened up this place for a reason: a place for those who deserve a cold ass beer, to meet some friendly locals, or watch a big game away from the yuppie socialite crowd. My kind of place after a long day at work, honestly. + There are drink and food specials everyday of the week. Best night to go: Bomb night on Thursdays!"
"You know there are those rare moments that you find a place that although may be lacking in some things, but they make it up for others. This is one of those places. I first discovered this place months ago simply by driving by. However after browsing online to find more information about it I decided not to give it a try because it wasn't a non smoking bar. After all, I'm not a smoker so why should I smell like one just by visiting a place. Nevertheless months later in search for a spot that does Karaoke on a Saturday night my Google results listed this place as a candidate. So I made the sacrifice to give it a visit on a Tuesday night to take one for the non smoking team. (They have Karaoke on Tuesday and Saturdays). What I discovered can be summed up in one word. Hospitality. We started off with the most popular drink in America. The Margarita. They had the frozen machine but they didn't have it running so they made one from scratch. ( It was aweful. The bartender immediately took it and made another. It too was aweful. He waited as we tried it again and didn't want to leave us drinking something that wasn't good. So he explained what he used and asked us to give him another try. We did. And the later was perfect. He explained it was due to him making a skinny rita vs the standard. For the remaining of the night he made them consistently good. Let's be clear. This place serves no food. It is a dive bar with amazing hospitality. We met the 2 owners and the manager. Both were courteous and very welcoming. Both wanted us to know that it was their intention to make sure everyone that walks in that door has fun. At 9 the Karaoke DJ began the show with a great sound system, lighting and costumes. They have a stage for you to perform on and some stage lighting as well. Quickly the list of singers started coming in from nowhere. It was a great fun night and after I left I did not have as much smokiness smell that I thought I would. This is perhaps due to the large smoke filters they have. I was told that they have been considering doing away with smoking altogether. I sincerely wish they would. To sum I would recommend this place for a good night of Karaoke. Don't expect a huge place with lots of seating cause like I said it's a dive. They clearly can use more seating. They have food vendors that come by late at night with some tasty tamales or beef jerky but there is also a Chinese restaurant next door that I think close at 10. I don't know if you can bring food in or not but I can't imagine why not since they don't serve food. It's a bar so of course they have beer. The prices are pretty decent and they seem to tend to make other mixed drinks based on your personal taste. Finally Cypress we have a good Saturday night Karaoke spot. Sing well and prosper."
"Went here for the first time yesterday and had a really good time. My family saw some old friends and it had a great crowd. Beer was ice cold and the Vegas bombs we dipped on were tasty. I thought it was pretty cool how you could download an app to play the music to the jukebox. This is a place I would love to come back to. I heard it gets bigger crowds most weekends"
"This place is super divey. We had a friend playing here so that's why we came. Drink prices were decent. They only had one bartender who is very fast and efficient. You can play pool in the back."
"This is definitely a neighborhood spot. It's a relaxed & chill environment. Everyone is friendly and will welcome newbies. Drinks are reasonably priced. Bartenders are friendly. There's Karaoke on the weekends and a pool table to pass the time. Don't forget about playing a friendly game if shuffleboard. Parking: plentiful"
"Jimbo's roadhouse is a biker friendly honky tonk dive bar located on old 290. I have been here a few times now and really like it. Most of the patrons are locals. They have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. On nice days they open up the South facing overhead doors letting a great cross breeze through giving it an open feel. As far as entertainment goes, they have live bands, a karaoke singer / guitar player, jukebox, dart boards, pool tables and a couple of golf video games. The draft beers are cheap and the bartender is friendly. You can also order a great pizza at the window near the back of the bar. If you live or are working in the Waller / Hockley area its a great place to have a beer after work."
"Great local bar. Great for after work. Happy hour Thursday night gets really packed. Drinks are really fairly priced. Nice size patio."
"We checked out Lola's Depot spontaneously on a Sunday evening. We were looking for a speakeasy, and Lola's Depot came up, so we made our way. We later found out that this isn't a speakeasy, some people on Google reviews have just said that it has a speakeasy vibe. Not Lola's Depot's fault at all! Located in Montrose, we found street parking a few minutes away from this casual dive bar. Once you enter, you'll find pool tables and a pretty spacious patio. This is a no-frills type of place. A little grungy. But I will say that there's one big thing that stands out: cheap drinks. We ordered beer and I was shocked at how good of a deal I got. Not what I was expecting in Montrose but much appreciated. Service was standard. If you're looking for a casual spot without breaking the back, you know where to go."
""Boondocks" is a somewhat funny name for a bar that's in the heart of the city--Montrose. But I love it. I grew up in the boonies, so I like telling friends to meet me in "the boonies" and kinda meaning it.When the owner Shawn B mapped out his first bar, he took his favorite bits and pieces from his favored bars and morphed 'em all together: great jukebox that plays everything from Tupac to Loretta Lynn, cheap beer ($1.50 PBRs any day of the week and a killer Sunday happy hour), a dj booth that plays vinyl, a Pac-Man table, and a photo booth. Yes, a photo booth. Snap some pics with that hottie hipster chick you met five minutes ago as proof to your homies that you still got game.I only knocked off a star because it takes quite a while to get a drink from the bar (I *really* think the barstaff doesn't like me--and I'm a HUGE tipper), and the ladies restroom could use another stall. That line is too damn long. Always."
"This a neat old-school ice house. Located just north of the Heights district in Houston, it's a cool little place to go hang out, have some suds and shoot some 8-ball. If you are looking for a swanky club for a first date, this is not the place for you.Catty Corner is a jeans and cowboy boots, old, smoky ice house kind of a place. I love it... It's the kind of place you can just hang out in with no worries in the world. No one knows your name and no one cares. It's just laid back, rustic and relaxing. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. They have free poolThey have a minimal beer selection but the prices are goodThey have a good juke box full of a good variety of music, including country, Pop, Tejano, old school rap and hip-hop. I could hang out here every week."
"Excellent service Quiet dive bar My dude and I went and it did not disappoint Excellent food specials Chicken and dumplings are great Get a sandwich and salad included They also sell banana bread and other sweets for $5 each FYI the area isn't sketchy I've grown up in Inwood my whole life I guess those folks are from river oaks Will be back"
