"Omg I just found this hidden gem. Delicious is an understatement. I had the platanos y frijoles and tamale de pollo. The tamale was to die for. It was a huge tamale too not one of the skimpy ones. The plantanos were ripe and sweet and fried to perfection. I will definitely be going back to this location. Only minor con is the parking lot, depending on the time you go it's jammed packed."
"Eight years later, this isn't a buffet restaurant anymore as Pupusa Buffet is now shortened to simply Pupusa. Not sure if they are still part of the Cocina Latina chain, since I order everything through delivery apps these days and can't view the paper menus. Besides, the cafeteria ambience encourages takeouts. What I like about this place is that the food is still cheap, there are plenty of options beyond pupusas, and I like the crisp fresh curtido and salsa. I really like their thick red bean tamales which are wrapped in banana leaves which impart their flavours further if you were to resteam or microwave them. I also like that they have ayote (squash) pupusas in addition to the traditional vegetarian options of loroco and beans."
"My first time here came with a friend to have breakfast. Love it! Their pupusas are wow, nice service and great food! We'll be back!"
"So glad to have some Salvadorian food closer to home. We love the food at Carbonero in Huntsville, and this new venue has the same quality food and service. Try the Ropa Vieja and you won't be disappointed."
"Some of my closest friends are Salvadoran, so I grew up eating delicious, homemade pupusas. Now if I have them anywhere, the bar is set high. I've been in Pearland for quite awhile and only discovered this place by word of mouth. It's easy to pass up unnoticed. Customer service was good. I ordered some pasteles to start with. These meaty pies were very tasty and an excellent app. For pupusas I went with the mixta which had meat, and the OG cheese pupusas. The pupusas were very delicious and tasted very authentic and homemade. It's the closest I've had to one of my favorite Salvadoran foods. The curtido and salsa were excellent accompaniments to the main course as well. I need to check out their other items now!"
"I didn't really eat all day from running around and I was starving. I have been hearing a lot about Papusas so I decided to stop in to a nearby restaurant. I ordered one chicken with cheese and 1 pork with cheese pupusa to go... WOWW! The pork papusa, by far, was my favorite. It had such a delicious taste to. I would definitely come by to try their other plates!!! Also this restaurant is family owned. Even better!"
"I had been working in Katy and upon having a pupusa conversation I searched for a place in Katy. I went to Alicia's. Staff is friendly. They have sit-down dining. I was disappointed that they were out of the fruit salad agua fresca. I ordered a cheese and loroco pupusa. It comes with the usual cabbage and tomato sauce. The curtido (cabbage) was too vinegary. It was over done. I've had better pupusas in Houston. I ordered a corn tamal to go. They gave me salty cream to accompany it. The tamal could have been more moist. Prices are very reasonable. I paid $3.50 for both items. The staff in the restaurant were very nice but I don't know if I'd go back for pupusas."
"I saw the bad reviews. I have been craving pupusas for a few months. The last couple of places I ordered from were doughy and not flavorful. I ordered 3 beef and 3 bean and cheese pupusas on a delivery app. I cut each in half to make sure I had the correct filling. They were savory and the curtido was super vinegary, which I surprisingly enjoyed. I won't drive here due to them being far from my home however I will continue to take my chances. One thing I realized about dining during covid and take out during covid is "Order during non peak hours""
"So sad not to able to try your food!On a Friday night at 9:42pm I called to place my todo order the lady on the phone said to me We can't take order now because we closed at 10:00. We'll but is 9:42 I said. She said we are cleaning already so is to late to take take your order . I told her is fine thanks. My concern is if you don't take orders after 9:42 just call google and ask them to change your business hour otherwise client are going to keep calling you. At the same I'm happy to not being able to try your food after I see your photos reviews I see some one complaints about finding a cucaracha in your food. That's not good at all. After looking for another place to order my dinner I found antojitos salvadoreños 12 min away from my location I call in at 9:48pm they took my order very happy and friendly staff and they also closed at 10:00 I dot arrive to the place at 10:00 exactly and my food was ready. That's the way to go. Good service and loyalty. They also turn off the sign 1min after I walked in Please excuse my bad typing Check the cucaracha photo"
"I was really hoping for some Nicaraguan food but in the end my britches were bursting out the seams after eating everything I ordered (apparently my eyes like to order for a family of 4!). The restaurant is located in a small shopping center in the multicultural awesome pot on Bellaire. Once inside, you realize that you will be treated like family and served such awesome food that you'll beg for more. It really was as if my Momma was in the back cooking up the grub. *Be sure to order the platanos fritos and the pasteles de carne!I will seriously make a stop here even if I'm nowhere near!"

While the name of the restaurant might not be particularly imaginative, this neighborhood Salvadoran eatery certainly delivers with a variety of piping-hot pupusas (and when I say piping hot, my goodness do they come out hot - use the accompanying curtido - a slaw - to regulate the temperature in your mouth). The plantains with cream are a delicious accompaniment. I also tried a chicken tamale but was a bit underwhelmed - I'll stick with the pupusas and plantains.

The place is kind of small. When we first walked in my main issue was the amount of kitchen smoke that was floating around and choking everyone out.The service was okay after we had sat there for almost 5 mins. I had to walk up to the bartender to place our drink orders. The food was very good. The empanadas and the steak were cooked well and very authentic. The margarita flights were a bit disappointing, but the food made up for it. I would definitely go back again for sure.

Whilst retreating to HQ, post-a tiring gym session, I wanted food. In the mood where I want to want something, but have no idea what would make me happy. So, I just hit the search bar blank as can be. And low and behold, here we are. The parking lot is a bit rough, and small. The inside is cozy, and you can watch them cook all the goodness from your table. The young lady at the desk was super nice. Everyone behind the counter was masked up. I came in and ordered half the menu. I had a 25 min wait for take out. Worth it. The pupusa's were greasy like we like them. They come in twos. I order the mixtas (pork bean and cheese) and also the de Gallina (chicken n cheese). Neither were disappointing in the least. I also had my first salvadorean tamal, delightful. Very tasty. The chicken was just right and it had potatoes in it as well! Surprise surprise! To finish me off, I also ordered empanadas. Slightly sweet, all delicious. That's all folks! A small corner corner lot, hidden away, that will put you into a food coma before you can leave. The price is bomb too. With tip, I had my whole dinner (3 humans worth) for under $20.

I've been here three times now and I gotta say, I'm a fan.I've gotten their pupusas and they are definitely some of the best in town. They're not greasy at all and they have plenty of filling. They're also a pretty good size so you get your money's worth. I also had their grilled chicken breast and it was delicious, perfectly cooked and seasoned. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting to satisfy their Salvadoran food craving.

Didn't get a photo of the pupusas but they were so good. I mean everything was delicious and cheap. We got 2 orders of the yuca frita, 3 pupusas (chicarrone, camarón, chorizo) and chicken enchiladas; total came out to be $25. Soooooo good.

"We were in the area for a short visit last Friday so we decided to Door Dash instead of driving around looking for a late lunch. This place turned out to be a crowd pleaser!I placed an order for a variety of pupusas and one beef fajita quesadilla to feed 4 people. The prices were fairly typical considering upcharges for certain ingredients and most restaurants having to change prices due to the numerous challenges of COVID. I specifically ordered the queso y pollo for myself, that's always been my favorite. We also got several each of queso, queso y chicharron, queso y fajita and revuelta. It took a while to arrive, especially for an off peak time. It almost seemed like they accepted the order... and then accepted again more than 20 minutes later. The menu was varied, although I would've liked to order some a la carte side items. That's probably just a limitation of Door Dash though. The food itself was a big hit, only a couple of pupusas made it to leftover status and then there was the infamous standoff in front of the fridge later where several people are demanding to know the fate of the rest. Sometimes you have to decide if you are hungry or love your family, but damn I was looking forward to more!I really loved the queso y pollo, it had the perfect ratio and texture and was top notch delicious! I wanted to try several others, but we're a bunch of animals and ended up doing zero sharing so I can't weigh in on flavor profiles for anything else. However, there were no complaints and everyone said theirs was really good multiple times. I would definitely order again, but I'll plan better and save myself a secret stash next time!"
"Warm, fluffy, DELICIOUS pupusas...FINALLY! Luck was on my side and I'm so happy we found this wonderful little Pupuseria. The owner was super sweet and the service was very friendly. These pupusas were all delicious! I ordered a variety to go: Revuelta, Chicken, Squash, Bean, Loroco and my family gobbled them up! $1.95 each. The Curtido had a hint of spice and the tangy dressing was the cherry on top. Perfect picnic or boat food, or sit in front of the TV food! I promise you they're the absolute best pupusas. I will be back!"
"Two words about Mi Case de Sabor - muy amable (very friendly in Spanish). I was amazed with a warm welcome as I walked in this restaurant. Being a Hispanic Asian, I have advantages in many ways. Mi Casa de Sabor reminded me of a hole-in-the-wall restaurant in South America where I came from. It has a large dining room to accommodate parties. The South American decorations and endless Latin American music made feel like the good old days. Here is how I found Mi Casa de Sabor on my staycation. I was shopping nearby on a rainy day. My immediate thought was "I want soup!" So, I pulled out my Yelp app and started to search what pops up with benefits.I considered soups and appetizers quick comfort foods. I ordered a beef bone soup and empanadas. The meat was so tender and the soup was flavorful. I was surprised with the size of the shank meat. I literally have to use fork and knife to cut it. Then, empanadas were so good. I normally expect huge cavity in the meat pie. But I was wrong again. The empanada was fill with vegetables, rice and beef; and there was no room for air. It took the kitchen a little longer than most restaurants for what I ordered. But I took time to enjoy studying the menu. I would come back for pupusas. I also want to try enchiladas as recommended by my Yelper friend Maria S.The friendly staff is another reason for my return. I enjoyed a weird stare from customers because I'm Asian. But it's okay. I get this all the time.**66th review of 2018**"
"They have the best pupusas in town and yuca con chicharron. The person who left a bad review talking about why they have uncooked seafood near the register is dense. That platter is obviously just for show i did not know people were that taciturn."
"Very good ! Place is nice ! Service is good !Food is excellent! Prices are very reasonable! They have healthy choices also .I will comeback for breakfast!"
"These are true authentic Pupusas!! Go support these great people who sit out here until after dark serving up these little pockets of heaven."
"We enjoyed our first visit and we're already planning the next. The carne asada plate with rice and refried beans and pico de gallo and a fiery hot grilled jalapeno, the plate came with two of the best tortillas i've ever had. My wife got one chicken tamale, it melted in our mouths. Next visit i'll try some pupusas and maybe breakfast."
"Make sure to call ahead because they make your food to order. I advise to call ahead and ask how long for the wait. We brought the mixed/combination pupusas and a side of the foes plantains. Everything was absolutely delicious."
"After reading some comments on yelp. We drove in for some good Salvadorian food It was goodWe sit and our server came to our table to take our order in less than 5 minutes .We get our drinks and We place our order .We received our food very quick We order pupusas ;combination plateAfter we got the food, Our server never came to check on us For any additional needs, No one came to us asking us if we needed anything or how everything was going. we finished our food and then we get up to pay . Cashier never asked out everything went. The food was somewhat good. My wife was not happy with the pupusas de loroco . They Were really bland I also want to add that there is a funny smell coming from somewhere inside the restaurant and you should try to fix that. Lots of waiters but hardly anyone was nice. Please forgive'My bad typing."
"We visited Restaurant Y Pupuseria Olocuilta on several occasions. The food here is always delicious. My recommendation as you read this review is to call and place your order because they get super busy. Patience is key when you visit this restaurant. The food is always cooked to perfection. We have enjoyed:- Ensalada de frutas (drink)- Pupusas Mixto- ChurrascoIf you enjoy Salvadorian food, stop by this location. Parking is limited. Don't forget to call ahead as they make everything to order."
"Overall, this is a good pupuseria! The service was good, the pupusas were solid, the prices were reasonable and the agua fresca was delicious!I only had two minor complaints about the entire experience. First, the chicken and cheese pupusa I got had very little chicken. I am used to shredded chicken applied evenly, whereas these were larger chunks spread out. The taste was still great, but it wasn't what I was expecting. The other thing is very minor and only applies if you are planning to order a bunch for later. I have had some great pupusas that tasted just as good cold as they did hot, but these don't keep. Not a big deal, just don't over order or let them sit too long. The texture is unpleasant when that happens. This was our first visit to this location. We were headed into Houston and already hungry. We stopped in here because it was convenient off 249 and not far from our destination. We were placing a to go order for nine pupusas to bring to some family members. It took a few minutes to be noticed and helped, but kudos to the girl who helped us. She clearly didn't notice us, because she was startled to see us and very apologetic. She then gave us a menu to look through and gave us a run down of a few items. She was very helpful. The prices are great in my opinion and match up to the portion. The queso pupusas are $1.99 each and the others we got with meat were $2.50. We ordered three each of beef, chicken and queso. We then added on some drinks when we were told the wait time was 20 minutes. My husband got a Tamarind Jarrito and I got a cantaloupe agua fresca. The total with tax was $26.65.The wait time didn't bother me as this place has 18 tables of various sizes and they were more than half full. The entire staff was hustling and they were kept very busy with all the tables and other to go orders. I think they did a solid job. They offered quite the variety of agua fresca's and I was thrilled to taste these were freshly made in house! The cantaloupe was delicious and there was plenty of the fruit right in the cup!! I really recommend this, or any of their other flavors. It was naturally sweet and refreshing. The food was made by the same person who took our order and it was ready in about 20 minutes. It smelled amazing! The pupusas were a hit with the family. Their cheese was very savory and had depths of flavor- it really hit the spot! There are a few items to note. Parking out front fills up quick! Luckily there is more parking in the back, so check that out before you decide to go elsewhere. They seem to accept most forms of payment, but not checks or American Express. They also have a case where they sell pastries!I was really satisfied with this experience overall and I'm glad we stopped in. I definitely wouldn't mind checking out more of their offerings the next time we are in town."
"This place gave me regular diner vibes but surprised me with the food taste. It was so good and reminded me of home. The sampler dishes were perfect for me to take my friends and try a bit of the Salvadoran food I grew up eating. The service is always great. Refreshing to say the least I have had bad experiences in other states and so far they exemplify Texan hospitality. I would highly recommend for you to try it, coming from a picky curtido and pupusa snob!"
"Favorite new Salvadorian restaurant in Houston. We live in the area and have lots of good salavadorian food around us but we keep coming back to this spot. Brought my family here and they also loved it. Highly recommend the sopa de mariscos (seafood soup). Also the pupusas here are filled perfectly. Everything I've tried here has been delicious as well as the typical breakfast plate with all the sides!"
"Great pupusas revueltas and plantains. Everything you order here is delicious. The refried beans, cream, with plantains is the best."
"Man I'm coming back tomorrow, the food was so damn good. We got the pollo con tajadas and some chicharron con yuca. Best food I have had in a lonnnnggg time. It was so fresh. The chicken was fried like on the spot, it was steaming hot. The plantains and the yuca were delicious too. We are Mexican, so this food is a little different than what we are used to but amazing nonetheless. In fact, it's better than most Mexican (TexMex) places I have eaten at here in Houston. I would absolutely recommend trying this place. The whole restaurant was spotless too, the bathrooms were super clean and our waitress was wonderful and so welcoming. Will be back for sure"
"We were headed to a show at The Centrum. El Pupusódromo was on our way. I ordered a cheese and loroco pupusa. It's served with curtido and tomato sauce. It's a bit doughy. The horchata is good, albeit too sweet. I couldn't finish it. My friend seemed to enjoy his beef tacos. The place is attractive and clean. My waitress was very nice. The ladies in the kitchen, however, were too loud and chatty kathys."
"Her grilled shrimp was lightly seasoned and perfectly cooked and not rubbery at all. It was definitely right off the grill. My Mondongo soup was, well, majestic . I imagined it was a dish you could get right off the coast of the Yucatán in a local restaurant."
"Recently opened and eager to please you can ask for any dish and if they have the right ingredients they will make it for you! I felt very welcomed and the food was delicious."
"Food is delicious! And the ladies that work there are very sweet! The prices are decent, I'm adding this place to my favorites list for sureee!"
"The best popusas ever! Place is new and clean. Food taste great. Service is slow BUT they had a for hire sign out front, so I know they needed help. Over food is fantastic."
