"Good food from nice people in simple surroundings just off 59 north between Galeria and Medical Center. French fries are the best in Houston. The beef, rice and French fries plate, Lomo Saltado, I got a taste for during my last trip to Peru, is delicious and filling. Would have been better with a hearty red wine ;) but no alcohol sold here.Service is great. This is not fast food as each plate is made to order from fresh ingredients. The restaurant is clean and basic. Usually soccer on the small TVs. Family place where folks get together and enjoy home style Peru meals. They also sell lots of the tienda items you would get in Peru."

"Absolutely love this place! This is my husband and I new favorite brunch place! My husband is a picky eater, and he was craving salmon benedict, so I did my research Saturday night and stumbled across Hanan's Café, what a hidden gem! We started off with Plantain chips w/ chimichurri & pineapple salsa 1000% recommend, the dipping sauce was sooo good! Although this is a side order on their menu, I asked us to start us off as appetizer. They were accommodated, and it looks like I was not the only one whom did this, I saw many tables ordered the plantain chips! Yummy! My husband had smoked salmon eggs benedict. Dill crème cheese, avocado, poached egg, hollandaise on a English muffin, you choose of rosemary roasted potatoes or fresh fruit. He loved it, and what he really enjoyed was the avocado. He said he never had a smoked salmon eggs benedict that came with avocado, I was very pleased he enjoyed his food.He also ordered the traditional French toast, which was fluffy, and he enjoyed it.I ordered Hanan's trio - house quiche, cup of poblano soup & a petite Hanan's favorite salad. The salad was good and came with a vinaigrette. Be careful with the soup, it came out piping hot! I really enjoyed this plate. When I ordered it, the server did mention it was a good choice.I also had the coconut latte, which was delicious! Next time, I would like to try it iced.Would 1000% recommend this place to anyone, and I hope to make this a regular brunch spot with my husband and I."
"This was my first time coming here, but it won't be my last. Upon entering, I was greeted by the friendly owner, who gave me great recommendations. I got the lomo saltado and two pork tamales with picked onions. Lomo saltado is tender filet mignon and savory brown sauce on a bed of white rice and French fries. I was unsure about how the fries would taste, but it works! It was so good that I wish I bought two plates. Nice portion size too! Tamales were delicious and the pickled onions complemented them very well. Washed everything down with a can of Inca Kola, a Peruvian soda. Can't wait to come back and try more of the menu."
"I took me wife to a pre Valentine's dinner at Lemon Tree and I'm glad I did it. The seafood was amazingly fresh and tasty, the staff was attentive and knowledgeable of the menu and the ambient was warm and cozy. Lemon Tree is a hidden gem, we'll be back soon with the rest of the family."
"First time having Peruvian food & was not disappointed! Started out with a chicken tamel and the chicha morada (purple corn drink) really enjoyed both. The chicha morada is served with pears in it and is kind of sweet but not too much. The chips are served with a green sauce & a spicy sauce & are super tasty! For entree I had basically a beef stew served with rice and red onions. The beef was super tender and overall I was impressed. My friends dish had fried plantains which were really good. Overall a good experience. Really wanted to try the desserts but was so full from the other food. They have good dessert options for sure. Will definitely come back here."
"A local hole in the wall, family owned, delicious dinner spot! We are in town for a wedding so figured we would try a local spot near our hotel. Everything was delicious! Staff is kind and attentive! Food is authentic, flavorful, and served beautifully presented as well. Definitely recommend this place if you love Peruvian cuisine (or would like to try it)."
"LAZY DAY!!! Because I did not feel up to cooking a home cooked meal for me and hubby, I decided to place an online to-go order from this establishment. The online ordering process is super easy, but you must have a Chow account in order to place online orders with them. This is not our first experience trying their food. It's great Peruvian cuisine which we absolutely enjoy! Normally, my husband will pick up our order, but he was super busy on this particular day. Therefore, I decided this would be the perfect time for me to make an appearance and check them out personally for myself. This review has been a long-time coming. Firstly, when I arrived, the place was not busy. There was a couple dining in and it was nice and quiet. I don't recall hearing any music playing in the background. There was dim lighting which made for a relaxing ambience. They have TV monitors mounted on the wall for entertainment. The dining area was pretty clean and spacious. Customer service is top-notch. The lady that served me was extremely friendly and welcoming. My husband said that whenever he goes to pickup our orders, they're always friendly and nice to him. I'm glad that I was able to finally come and see for myself. Secondly, I ordered the Brasa burrito with salad for hubby and the two-piece rotisserie dark meat with black beans and Chaufa rice on the side for myself. I chose the green sauce and yellow sauce, which are complimentary on all orders. They also have a red sauce which is okay. By the way, their green sauce is my favorite one. It tastes so delicious when you dip the chicken in it or even if you drizzle a little on the Chaufa rice. OMG! DEE-LI-SHUSH! It has a semi-spicy cilantro flavor to it. My husband absolutely loves their Brasa burrito. It's filled with delicious pulled chicken, queso fresco, yellow sauce, Mexican cream, crispy onions, black beans, and chaufa rice all wrapped inside an enormous flour tortilla. He also favors the green sauce and likes to dip the burrito in it. As for the side of black beans, they're packed with flavorful deliciousness. NOW, for the rotisserie chicken, it's the best that I've ever tried in my life. It's also packed with mouth-watering, flavorsome, delectable, and unique Peruvian flavors. Furthermore, it's juicy, tender, and succulent! It's definitely a must-try! Hubby and I normally order their whole rotisserie dinners which are accompanied with three sides and six sauce flavors of your choice. Overall, I am a huge fan of their Peruvian cuisine. I think I will dine in one day, since their dining room is clean and spacious. Since hubby and I are always ordering the chicken and the Chaufa rice, we would like to try something different on the menu. However, their rotisserie chicken and Chaufa rice are the bees knees people! It's absolutely delicious! I rated them four stars because the Chaufa rice that they sold me was not fresh this go round. It's usually super fresh and piping hot. However, this time it was hard and the chicken that's in it was also hard, making it difficult to chew. Bomber, because it's my favorite side on the menu. Instead of replacing it with some fresh rice, they sold me some stale rice. I was highly disappointed. Since it was late in the evening and close to closing hours, I guess they didn't want to throw it out and make some fresh rice. Nevertheless, I am recommending anyone who enjoys great tasting food to give them a try. You will not be disappointed! You can also follow them on instagram @chickhouz for updates and to also witness some of their most delectable and mouth-watering Peruvian cuisines on display. By the way, they have a new Chick Houz location coming soon in the Tomball area."

Ordered takeout lunch from here. I got the bistec a lo pobre. It is essentially a variant of the popular Columbian dish bandeja paisa but th Peruvians have an edge with seasoning and the Columbian win with that chicharonnes goodness. Also got the beef empanada. The beef in both dishes were spectacularly seasoned. I liked the empanada but was generally thrown off by the powdered sugar on top. Very unusual but it worked. The beans, fried plantain and eggs went beautifully together though I wish the beans had a bit more salt and pepper. As stated the steak was well seasoned but waaaaay overcooked. I asked for medium rare and got medium well. I suspect it's because it's cut so thin. This is the sole reason I docked 1 star. Overall really good food. Final grade: B+I'd eat there again for sure.

I had lunch here at Peru Gourmet a week ago. It's in a strip center with plenty of parking available in front. Inside it's a small restaurant with about 8 tables and is a table service eatery. Upon recommendation of the owner/manager I went with the Lomo Saltado entree for $19. The meal arrived in less than 15 minutes and consisted of strips of filet mignon marinated and sautéed in a wok with red onions, tomatoes and yellow peppers all bathed in a red wine sauce. The meal was delivered by a lady working in the back without any utensils. The owner/manager was busy the entire time with a party of eight people who were obviously friends of his chatting away so eventually the lady came back out and I asked her for utensils which she then brought. I didn't think the meal was anything special taste wise. The filet mignon wasn't as tender as I had hoped and I couldn't taste much of the red wine among the veggies. It was a 3 star meal in my opinion at best. The french fries that came with it were the regular frozen out of a bag style. It was an average tasting meal with poor table service and therefore no reason for me to return.

Great food and good music and cute dancing people. Lots of salsa, merengue, and cumbia music. If it's like this every time it's pretty amazing. This was my first time here.

This was my first time tasting Peruvian food and it was absolutely delicious!!!! I can't decide if the Bistec or gallina was my favorite! The flavors were amazing and presentation of the food was beautiful!! I dont recall the drink I ordered, but it's a very traditional Peruvian drink that was tasty but very strong!!! More on the tart side. I will definitely be going back!!!

"Came here for early brunch. Ordered ahead since we know food takes a while to come out. We were the only customers when we arrived. 1st dish came out within 15 mins. I was expecting the rest to come out soon after since we ordered 5 of the same dishes. However after another 10 mins went by with only 1 plate out I was confused. 3 more tables came in. Later on she came out with the rest of the plates however it wasn't what we ordered. It was a big mess. So again waiting for our food we watched the other tables got their food and they ordered the same dish as us. I thought our order would be rushed since there was a mix up. So by now all the other tables got their food and we're still waiting for ours although we ordered in advance and the first table. We waited another 15 mins..it was only the owner working the floor. Our food finally start trickling in. The food itself is not bad, however the service is very poor. I'm sorry to say this because she's an older lady but she's slow and clearly not capable of running the floor by herself. As soon as we finished our food we noticed a female waitress clocked in. A little late when the restaurant is busy on a weekend. The owner came by and asked how was everything (everyone was already done eating) and she want to the cashier counter. I assumed she was grabbing the bill. I was wrong, I have no idea what's going on in her mind but we waited about 15 mins. It came to the point that we had to fetch her and grab the bill. Tldr; service is very slow.Although the food was ok, I will not be returning."
"If you got dried chicken, I feel bad for you son.I got 99 problems but Pollo Bravo ain't one.Had a craving for latin food and after checking out different places, I decided on Pollo Bravo cause it was conveniently located close to work. Obviously had to try the chicken and got the 1/4 chicken combo with two sides (avocado salad and pinto beans) for $7.99. The meal came out fairly quick; went right in and poked the chicken with my fork separating it from the bones, so moist so moist and the chicken skin was so crispAAy. Asked for the green sauce and that just made it so much better, I have no idea why...crack sauce is what it should be called. The sides were delicious as well, avocado salad had onions, purple cabbage, avocado slices, tomatoes and a citrus-y dressing on it. Pinto beans were sitting in a meat-based broth was was diiiivine, probably my love of mexican food. It was a good portion of food to fill you up but I do agree that I wish it was a tad bit cheaper! I knew I was in for a good meal when I walked in. How? Cause there was a diverse crowd in the restaurant with MOSTly Latino occupants. I'll let you in on a not-so-asian secret.....if I walk into an asian joint and it's mostly non-asians in there, it's kind of like a light bulb that going off to get the F out of there, maybe not all places but...80% of the time it works every time. Will be back!"
"Why 4 stars? Because this was a solid rendition of lomo saltado. --- --- ---I fell in love with lomo saltado while living in Tampa for the last 15 years, where I felt like we had a pretty decent contingent of Peruvian restaurants. When I found this food truck on Yelp with a perfect 5-star average, I knew I wanted to get here soon. After several weekends in a row of not making my way over, I finally got a chance to experience it.The verdict: it definitely hit the spot, but I do think I've had a bit better. The meat was seasoned well and the flavors were on point, but I think the super thick cut fries is what I didn't love. They were a bit much - I'd prefer a more standard size fry as the thick ones are a bit dry in the middle. But I definitely want to come back and try the paella sometime and will be sure to do so!"
"This place is a gem. Peruvian food in general is delish and this place does it well. I love that they have Peruvian sodas and things like fried rice on the menu.I got the chicken sammie and it was so large I could barely finish it. The rotisserie chicken looked like the star! 10/10 recommended."
"After seeing how popular the Westchase location (#1) is, I had high hopes for the second opening of Las Brasas along Bellaire just outside of Hillcroft. I've been missing my weekly Peruvian jaunts in NYC so this was as highly anticipated for me as anything. The place is clean and feels like an ideal spot for a casual meal. It looked and smells new, with brightness from the natural light, with plenty of rotisserie chickens spinning in the background. So far, everything is looking good.I ordered their claim to fame, a half pollo a la brasa, and was ready my food notalgia to kick in. My chicken, while juicy and tender, was a salt bomb. I tried coating it in the aji sauce and mixing it with the rice in hopes of enjoying it. Strangely, aji makes *everything* better (#2) but this wasn't the resolution. The fries were crispy, but the let down was real. I chalked it up to new establishment jitters. My next go-around included much more variety: chaufa chicken fried rice, a whole chicken, lomo saltado (#3), tallarin verde, ceviche, tallarin saltado, and even their anticucho kebab. Minus the chicken, which was mildly better this time, most things were bland. For the tallarin verde with bistec, I was kind of blown away at how much gristle and how tough the meat was. Once again, I drowned my chicken in their huacatay (aji verde) and it didn't make much of a difference. The lomo saltado was also mad salty and the ceviche had plenty of citrus, but was still disappointing given the price. Even the cilantro rice was dry. The food is 2 stars at best, but I'll give them 3 because the customer service, initial deals, and store location was a thumbs up.Before I could give it another shot, they went ahead and closed, albeit temporarily. I am not sure if they're going to reopen, but I hope they do. I'm not done with satisfying this Peruvian craving palate.___________(#1) https://www.yelp.com/biz/las-brasas-charcoal-chicken-houston-2(#2) Without a doubt, if done properly, aji verde is one of the world's greatest sauces.(#3) The national dish of Peru and the name of my future pet."
"We had very good rotisserie chicken. It was delicious moist & very nicely seasoned. We got the sides which were all perfectly prepared. They have many unique Peruvian dishes. We came in Ames April 2020. We will be regular customers. The food is not like fast food. It is Resturant quality."
"deceptively benign name for an explosively delicious menu disguised in a typical looking place. nothing stood out for me and i'd not only never heard of it but never wanted to try. until i literally walked in here, luckily, out of curiosity; a hidden gem indeed. ironic bc the adapted style is very peruvian by its description: 'hybrid peruvian-mexican'. peruvian is a hyper-hybrid-mixed bag of various culinary greats like china, japan, spain, african & incan and has the geographic diversity to pull it off as they have virtually any ingredient available. so i was excited to see their menu, but...had plenty of trouble with their menu since their website link on google was bad and no menu on yelp, but i fixed that with posted pics once i was finally i was able to see their menu inside!! there's some 3rd party menu online but i don't trust those bc they're often wrong or from another location so i always look for an authentic pic taken from customers of an in-store menu. for example, they didn't even have alfajores here even tho it says they do on that 3rd party site. but anyways i was immediately sold on chilaquiles. yes very mexican but again hybrid peruvian had me wondering about the green sauce as peru is known for their chile sauces smothering things. things such as their amazing peruvian rotisserie chicken. so tender, juicy, crispy crust. perfect with the cut up corn tortillas & then there was plenty of queso fresco cheese and that subtle pungent spice of red onion to finish it off, all in that fabulous green sauce that wasn't very spicy. reminiscent of ceviche actually, the national dish, only mexican version minus the fish! yet also kind of breakfast-like too. indeed hybrid. the taquitos were very tasty too, as you can see (and imagine) in my pic. i should've had tostones too but their menu says green plantain & sweet plantain, not tostones like the word i'm familiar with, so i assumed it wasn't tostones, but i checked on the way out with an employee and confirmed the green plantains are in fact tostones. so...got the menu frustrations sorted, very impressed with the food, obviously will be back soon!!"
"I wish we would have taken pictures of the food but we couldn't help but dive right in! I come from a Peruvian family and I was so pleasantly surprised with the Salchipapas which brought back childhood memories. They also are introducing a dessert that is to DIE for which was like a chocolate lava cake with lucuma icecream. Definitely recommend them!"
"The lomo saltado and chicha morada were excellent. The sirloin was cooked perfectly. Just seared and tender. I like how the cook separated the fried potato, stir fry, rice, and two salsas. Allows you to get a perfect balance when taking bites."
"Bold and fresh flavors from a food hall stall! The fish is fresh and the ceviches are refreshing. This is a great standout for those looking for something lighter and outside of the common hot chicken and taco offerings. Don't get me wrong..the tacos and hot chicken concepts here are also very good! But they're almost a dime a dozen nowadays."
