Albany Park restaurants continue to impress while being easy on the wallet! We weren't sure what we wanted, so we ordered through the Yelp app and got their most popular dishes-- the lumpia were delicious, crispy and flavorful, and their pho had this great basil floral-y / fresh undertone. We will definitely be ordering from here again and might just even venture out with the baby! Good portion sizes, strong flavors, fast service."

Howard L. "This newish casual restaurant has been open for a year and it's just great, like 5 stars great! They have a huge menu, very reasonable prices, big and delicious serving sizes, and a clean, airy, modern, and spacious dining room. They also have an easy to use e-pad for ordering a wide variety of dishes and with helpful and enticing photos of all of these dishes. The e-pad ordering is also handy for being able to specify no or less salt, no MSG, less sugar, less oil, etc, which is really a nice touch. Flagging down one of the rotating servers was easy and after ordering, the piping hot food came out without much of a wait. For this lunch outing, our party of 4 ordered 3 different bowls of congee (each $7.49), a Mongolian beef which was mine and $8.49, and an order of pork liver rice noodles ($5.49). All of the servings were very generous and great values. The congee is a simple dish, but when it's done right as it is here, the flavor is deep and rich and it's a very homey comfort food, and that's what they have here. The big dining room was busy and that's another confirmation of the value here given all the competition in Chinatown Square. I can't wait to return and try something else."

I had to ask the staff what they put in it! So so good!We also got some sort of appetizer that was a mix of vermicelli noodles, spring rolls, fries, and more. It's A LOT of food. Def shareable unless you've got a big appetite.Their fruit teas are fabulous! Loved the one I got. My sister got a milk tea and didn't love the boba texture in it. Just meh. Luke C. "This is a ramen/japanese restaurant.I was very surprised at how delicious this restaurant was, given that it doesn't only specialize in ramen. I got the miso ramen. The broth was very good. It was slightly sweet, and slightly sour, but still had a great pork broth flavor. The best thing about this were the ramen noodles. They were homemade, and super springy, and had an amazing texture. You could feel the edges of the homemade noodles because they were rectangular shaped. One of the best ramen noodles I have had.The pork belly was very flavorful. It must have been marinated or cooked for a long time because the flavor was good throughout the entire cut of meat. The egg was good, because it was jammy inside. I also liked the buttery corn topping. Other toppings (menma, kikurage, green onions) were as expected. The only thing I didn't like was the fried nori. I think it was weird they fried it, and it ended up tasting weirdly stale. Maybe they should just do a regular piece without first. Service was very fast, given that I came on a wednesday night. There was no wait and the place was half empty. Ambiance is on the darker side."

Also a plus, the bathrooms are stocked with everything you need, including hair ties! Feels very personable. I got the chef seasonal nigiri selection and it did not disappoint! If you're looking for a great chicken dish, with jam-packed flavor, spice, and the perfect breading, definitely try out the dry red-chilli chicken. We topped off the fantastic meal with some pork belly soup. Our server was great... letting us two, pull together two tables, due to the amount of food we ordered. LAN's Nine Nine is a hidden gem as the saying goes, close to a bunch of industrial crap like warehouses. Go across the bridge close to Ashland and you'll be right here. There's very affordable options including appetizers and tofu. Chinese food often is like the same but it's not quite as much like that here. It's not a massive menu but there's plenty to choose from though. There's options for both meat eaters and vegetarians. Got a few Vegetable Spring Rolls for about $5, which is impressive. There were about five and came with a sauce. It's about $11 for an entree. Pretty good prices especially for fancier Chinese restaurants around here. Shared the Family Tofu With Vegetables. It seemed like a lot. This was packed with tofu and spicy flavors that really needed us to cool off. Has plenty to go in and around it but many like to come here while eating and listening to the loud music. It's likely going for the crowds but no sure exactly how successful it is because there's usually not that many people. There's plenty of the meaty options but there's also tofu for vegans and vegetarians."

For real it's really not bad. This is a terrific option for those not used to authentic Thai cuisine and looking for something more palatable to boring American style tastes. For being casual and fast, it does seem the food is better than expected. It has a nice amount of spices and isn't bland like everything comes frozen. There's actual freshness of the vegetables. It's of course not authentic. Sure the spice can be increased. Get one of the curries. The one I like is the Kick N Panang. It's about $10 for a bowl. This is vegan friendly with a Thai cashew curry, rice, and vegetables. Add tofu for about a buck more. Seems like a good amount of stuff. Maybe this could be spicier but it's not bad. They pack in a lot. Have to say it's better than it looks upon entering. It seems like it may be just another make your own bowl type of place. There's actually freshness and quality."

On the way, I looked up recommended places to eat and Ken Kee looked pretty promising. Unfortunately, it was just alright. The outside of the restaurant is probably something to look at at night when all the neons are on, but the inside has a really cool retro styling with vintage-inspired lighting, neon signs, and kitschy posters. There were only two parties eating when I walked in, but it took a minute for the three people working to acknowledge me and even then, I got a half-hearted gesture toward a table and barely a hello.Service remained strange and lackluster throughout the meal. The waiter seemed a little standoffish and doubted that I knew how to order from the build-your-own-noodle-bowl menu, which, even if I wasn't extremely familiar with due to all the Asian restaurants here in the Bay Area that use them, would've been extremely simple to understand otherwise. Weirdness aside, I built my own bowl:- Base: plain noodle soup- Toppings: beef brisket- Noodle: handmade noodles- Broth: signature beef broth- Belly sauce- Medium spicy sauce- Green onionsMy food came out really fast and while it was a good portion, everything was somewhat middling. The flavors were a little lackluster, the spice was nearly nonexistent, and the beef brisket was a little fattier than I would've liked (though it was extremely tender). Good amount of noodles though, which were cooked perfectly. The bowl plus a can of Coke and tip came out to a little over $17. I'd be willing to go back (if I ever go back out to Chicago) to try some of their other dishes, but would likely want to prioritize trying some of the other places in the area first."

They thoroughly cleaned my table and I noted that hand sani is on the table, alongside the hoisin sauce, chili sauce and sriracha bottle. I ordered the shrimp spring roll which were two large rolls filled with about three shrimp, mint, lettuce, vermicelli noodles and accompanied by peanut dipping sauce. This was crisp and refreshing and I brightened with some chili sauce. I ordered the Pho Tai Chin Nam (round steak and brisket) which comes with a dish of bean sprouts, lime, basil and jalapeño to customize to your palate. The broth was fine, I added the lime and basil, and though the brisket was tender, I found the steak to be slightly tough. I found this to be a very large portion and they packed the leftovers to go.The menu has Vietnamese, Chinese and Japanese items, so if you are not looking pho pho, there are plenty of other dishes to entice. The set comes with pickled ginger, a mound of wasabi, your choice of protein on top of a pile of shredded cabbage, 6 California rolls (which I find tasty!), and a cucumber/imitation crab salad. They opted to eat outside as they have a small seating area on the sidewalk in front. We ordered the following dishes to split among our table. * We started w/Chicken satay w/peanut sauce. This was perfect an order of 5 pieces). This also came w/a small dish of cucumbers & red peppers in vinegar* 2 large orders of Tom Kha soup which was also enough for 5 people.
