"Overall Thoughts: LARGE, hearty, flavorful portions of Middle Eastern food at an affordable price point! This is a quick and easy lunch or dinner counter-serve option near the Damen Blue line stop with a diverse selection of plates and sandwiches. Food I tried: I've only tried the Kefta Kabob Dinner so far, and got it with 1/2 curry rice and 1/2 lentils and rice. It also came with a side of tabula, hummus, and pita. I'd recommend the lentils and rice over the curry rice (which I didn't love)-- the lentils and rice is extremely delicious and flavorful. The kabobs were also full of flavor and depth, and the hummus had a full, earthy flavor. I wish the pita came more toasted though. All this food came out to just $14, which was great because I even had leftovers for later. -- Price (relative to peers): 4.7/5Food: 4.6/5Ambience: 4.5/5Service: 5/5Overall Value: 4.6/5"
"My friend picked up my go-to combo-- the vegetarian combo which includes falafel, stuffed grape leaves, hummus, baba ghannoug, Jerusalem salad, tabbouleh and pita. They also included tahini and hot red sauce and a special container of pickles and olives. This is a great sampler because it's got all of the good stuff, with very generous portions to boot. Except the baba ghannoug--I could drink that stuff--I love the silky smoky smoothness of it. The same goes for the hummus--I've considered getting a part-time job there so I could find out the secret to the hummus--my all-time favorite. I forgot -- camera eats first --but remembered to snap a photo before I demolished it."

"Quick reviewDoing a show at the Genessee Theatre, and this is where they had us order our craft service. A nice diversion from the usual "muska-cholly" and cold chicken, or sports-bar burgers most theatres give us.Fine Beef Kofta Kabab and Rice. I dig a Mediterranean feed."
"I love this place.Great food.Great prices. CASH ONLY!!!!Quick for grab-and-go food, but there are a few tables in case you want to stay and dine-in."
"Yes, another win, for Pita Inn.We ordered for delivery, but all was still hot and fragrant when it arrived at our door. Piles of pita, creamy hummus, tangy dolmades, fluffy rice pilaf and tasty kefteh and shawarma.Amazing garlicky sauce, nutty tahini and spicy red sauce. All was packed nicely and secure, and delivered in a timely manner. We're all in for Pita Inn."
"Best falafel I've had in Chicago hands down @tazacafechicago The Loop, ChicagoMade with so much LOVEEE , this Mediterranean spot is super low key but been around for 13 years! Come in for platters , order catering for your office, group order with your office (sharing a ), or even grab a quick dinner after work in the loop All the food is made daily by Hamza (originally from Jordan). He gets in about 5-6am before the 10:30am lunch period begins. We got the below plates, all of their popular items that comes with fluffy dill basmati rice (so good!), Creamy Hummus + pita, and a cucumber tomato Mediterranean salad: Taza Combo (Chicken Shawarma & Gyro) Chicken Kabob & Falafel combo Falafel salad Their falafels are the BEST I've had in Chicago so far. hamza makes 500-2000+ of them dailyThey're fried fresh so they're super crunchy Packed with flavor with chickpeas, garlic, coriander, spices like cumin, s&p Make sure to get the assorted baklava. They're also made fresh in Chicago by a partner . They're so crispy, not too sweet, and filled with a variety of nuts!So dang good. They've started to extend their hours till 8pm and are closed Saturday and Sundays. Check it out!More videos and reviews on Instagram @midwestmunching (Sponsored)"
"Came here with my mom and a group of 5 total. Their menu is pretty small (not a bad thing). We tried almost everything they have. We had the beef, chicken, pork, salads, hummus, mushroom rice, potatoes, etc..We went in and ordered to go. Didn't take long to get our food, and service was friendly.Everyone really enjoyed their food. All finished their plates.I have nothing bad to say, so, 5 stars."
"I spent a weekend in Chicago on a girls trip and we were looking for somewhere to close our time before our flights. Beatnik caught our eye with their beautiful exterior. We came around 11 am and were easily able to get a table for brunch. Once you step inside you're transported to a beautiful garden with tons of plants and sky light. I wish my house looked like this. Not only was the decor amazing but the food was delicious too. I had the shaksuka which had excellent flavor and a good size. Our server was incredible too, very friendly & able to provide a great wine recommendation.Do not pass this place up for a great time!"
"Delicious!! I stopped in to pick up dinner and got the lamb shawarma platter and 2 baklavas. My total was $20, but this was a TON of food! I think my favorite part was the curry rice. It was definitely a pretty classic shawarma meal! The baklava was amazing and I recommend getting it too!! For a 'cheap food' place the prices still seemed very normal to me and not necessarily cheaper than other restaurants, but I think the good deal is the sandwiches. I definitely want to go back and try the $6 felafel pita!"
"Purchased a groupon for this establishment quite a while ago when planning my trip. Restaurant location is tricky (big signage out front but located in a basement). Pre-fix dinner included an appetizer sampler, pita bread, soup or salad, entree (up to 18.00), bottle of wine or pitcher of sangria, & dessert. Pita bread was warm and fresh, sampler platter was good and not overwhelming in size. Salad was an arugula mix with a very tasty house vinaigrette dressing. Ordered the chicken tenderloin (breast) kabob plate with rice and a small serving of salad. Dessert was pound cake with ice cream for 2. Chicken was very tender and pound cake was a tad dry. Overall food was good and portions were just right so you didn't leave stuffed and ready to roll out of there. Server and owner were very friendly, personable, and genuinely nice guys. Definitely support this local gem if you are a local or even visiting from out of town like I am!"
"I've passed by this place a few times and just had something random and large from the Brown elephant down the street (today it was an air popcorn popper) but wow I had no idea about the supermarket. I grew up in a neighborhood with a large Mediterranean and Middle Eastern, so when I walked back I found the spices intoxicating. Then they have some cheeses I love that I used to use daily but haven't seen honestly in a decade. Pretty cool. We headed to the front to place our order, a veggie combo and a Beef/lamb shawarma. They have a open kitchen and counter service. We took a table near the counter. It's great to see the plated dishes come out fresh and smell the aromatics in the air. Our food came out in a decent ten minutes. The meat was slice to a perfect thickness and cooked to give a nice gradation of doneness with nice caramelization. The hummus was tasty and fresh with herbs, I honestly didn't take note of the ingredients but dug in. Had a nice tanginess. Everything was delicious well portioned and reasonable priced. Service was great. Explained all the veggie options pulled out examples. I mean I definitely going back especially to the shop in the back. I mean they're really stocked well. Lots of goods made on site too."
"The food was great but the atmosphere and the service were not.A friend suggested we go here because he had had the Hummus before and said it was the best he'd ever had. I can agree. It is some of the best hummus I've ever had, but we ate it in silence because there was no music playing. In addition to the lack of ambiance was the lack of service. I felt for the guy waiting on us, because he seemed to be working both the counter and the tables, but he wore one ear bud the entire time he served us and any other table. We had to ask him for a second glass for water, and when we asked if the small Hummus was enough for 2, he suggested we get the larger size. As he walked away, he said, the small is just an appetizer. We both said we're also ordering meals, but he just walked away. The hummus was easily enough for 4 people. We eventually flagged him down and ordered dinner. I got the cauliflower sandwich, which was good, but I was expecting more than just cauliflower in a pita, like tomato, cucumber, onion. I got tzatziki which made it tastier. Overall, I'd get carryout but not eat in."

This place seems hidden away on a corner, but their food is very good. I got the falafel sandwich and it was flavorful and the falafel was moist. The ingredients are fresh and everything was just delicious. The service is very fast and everything is made right in front of you. They also have a very large and extensive drink selection. Seating options are plentiful with both indoor and patio dining. The only downside is that they don't offer fries, which I personally think is a crime. They already have a fryer for the falafel, but this doesn't take away from the other great food they offer!

I am surprised that this Pita Inn only has 1k reviews given how long it's been around but not surprised that's it has an average 4.5 star rating. All 4.5 well earned. I have recently been coming here a lot and predominantly get their Fattoush salad with chicken shawarma and in addition to the chicken being flavorful, it's also a very large helping for being fairly inexpensive. Usually salads leave you hungry or craving for more but not this one. Sadly I don't have a pic. Today I returned for their business lunch special and it's so much food (meat specifically) for just $10! I do remember the time when this same combo was $5.49 about 15 years ago but given inflation , it's a small increase to current pricing. The lunch special which there are 4 to pick from offers a lot of variety of meats, falafel etc and includes pita, Rice and salad along with tahini and hot sauce. Service is quick and efficient. I would give it another star since they were open Christmas Eve & Day, NYE and Day.

Papa Marcos is definitely the place to keep coming back to! Everyone here is very welcoming and nice; they make you feel right at home! Best of all, their food is good! Great people and good food! What more can you ask for? The restaurant is very clean and they have a good amount of parking space. I've been to a couple of Mediterranean restaurants before and this place is undoubtedly one of the best!

Chicken was a bit dry, but lamb was fantastic. Their toom was very sour and acidic- I've never had Lebanese shawarma, only Syrian, so maybe this is typical, but none of the people in my party could consume the toom and usually it's my favorite part of shawarma. Great prices so absolutely great value for $!

This place is so good!! Order in person for fairer pricing and options. The staff is nice and the service is quick. I ordered a side of 3 falafels but they were a little small so wish I had ordered 6. The falafel was really good perfect crisp and flavor and I also ordered rice (not what i'm used to but good) and Baba Ghanouj (amazing too). Dolma was also really really good and i'm normally not a fan of them. Hummus was subtle and yummy. Will definitely come back!

Did a catering order for pickup here on a weeknight. The order was still in the process of being prepared when I arrived at the designated pickup time. The meat was fresh off the grill and packed up and the salads and cabbage was already prepared and ready to go. The food is good as always, just like their lunch specials. Everything was nicely packed and placed in boxes making it easier for transport. There was plenty of food for the group.

The most cool environment with a delicious menu and great service. Our table tried a lot of dishes, the frosting on the cinnamon roll is so good, shashuka flavors are killer... chicken & waffle is perfect. Love the indoor outdoor vibes and the decor. Will definitely be back.

"This Michelin-starred Mediterranean restaurant is a great value. Finally made it to Galit for a late reservation and was thoroughly impressed. Wine was notably inexpensive. It's a bit loud inside. Later in the night, it was pleasant once the crowd thinned out.4% junk fee and mandatory 20% grat on top of that."
"Outdoor seating is best. Especially since the eye candy here is more sophisticated than say - Lincoln Park. The patina of time has taken its toll inside. My Arabic coffee was perfectly sweetened rich and strong. The combo platter was ok. The gyro/ lamb and kefta is fine but the beef was overcooked and dry. The kinafa desert is Ok. I prefer the Turkish version."
"One of the best falafel I've had.Kifta and beef kabob punch were very good. The chicken shawarma was meh. Some sort of sour to it. Not for me.Rice was very basic but with that garlic sauce mixed in made it fire."
"Checks all the boxes! Generous portions of steaming hot food. The view from Sultan Kebab is interesting. There's even a table and chairs outside should you want to eat outside. Next time I have to order the lentil soup!"
"As soon as you pull up to the restaurant, you are greeted with a very clean and welcoming patio with a small fountain with lots of seating. The interior is very spacious and clean. You order your meal at the counter where a worker immediately greet you with a friendly hello they offer a full variety of Mediterranean dishes that can be had with wraps sandwiches and entrées.My favorite item on the menu is the Kefta Kebabs or the Chicken shawarma sandwich that is prepared on a soft homemade pita. I also enjoy their super combo plate that comes with all of their meats on a bed of rice with tomato and lettuce on the side and pitas.Their sauces are also absolutely delicious. I really love their tahini sauce and they also have a red sauce that is more spicy that comes with all dishes that is delicious. Their garlic sauce is also something that you have to try.My wife loves their chicken Shawarma plate with a side of their homemade hummus.Their prices are extremely reasonable a full plate costs around 1499 and a sandwich cost under 8 dollars. If you are in the mood for Mediterranean food, that is always consistent with excellent quality. Definitely go check them out. They do get busy during dinner time, but they are very quick with their ordering process.I give a rating of 9 out of 10 definitely go check this place out for yourself and tell them that the Chicago Food King sent you."
"The original Al Bawadi is located on the south side on 7216 W 87th St, Bridgeview, IL. This location in Niles, IL was opened about 4 years ago and is much closer to where I live. We were so happy they opened this location. 03/18/24 - Today I had a procedure performed @ Advocate Lutheran General Hospital (LGH) that required that I didn't eat after midnight (actually 7pm) After being released from LGH we went to lunch @ Al Bawadi. As usual Al Bawadi provided outstanding food in an absolutely gorgeous restaurant. I ordered the grilled fillet of Basa over 2 types rice. Excellent as always & enough for another meal tomorrow. My wife ordered a shwarma roll w/fries.around 3:00 we went about 1/2 mile east to Al BawadiThis is one of my personal favorites as everything about this restaurant screams excellence form the food to the ambiance in a beautiful Persian influenced theme to outstanding service."
"I'm so glad they are still here and open. I thought Covid had caused them to close. Visited Friday and the food is great. The MVP's are the falafel and hummus. The chicken kabobs are so tender and satisfying. Thank you for making great food Visiting again soon."
"My husband and I stopped at MazMez Middle Eastern Grill to get a pickup order. Ordering online was pretty easy, and our food was ready when we got there. The food was warm when we got to our friend's house. The food was pretty good but does not taste very different from other similar restaurants. The children even liked the food. They were eating the hummus right along with the adults. I recommend MazMez Middle Eastern Grill for the entire family."
"The gyro sandwich is delicious and huge, had to eat half of the meat before I could even consider folding the pita. Killer onion rings. Sister loved the falafel wrap. Cooks are awesome and prepare everything to order."
"I've been eating at pita inn for years and I mean years!!!! I've been to most of the locations but recently moved to the area and have been frequenting the mundeline location. Food is delicious and super consistent. I was having a house warming party and no brained I ordered pita inn catering! And what do you know delicious!!! We got the preferred package:KeftaChicken tendersFalafel Shush kabobRice BabaganoushHummus Salad we upgraded to fatoush Pita and all the delicious sauces. Everything was so good. Our guests were happy and full and we still had so many left overs."
"Consistently a great spot for Mediterranean food. I appreciate that the sides compliment the main dish and that they are an even amount. For instance, in the falafel bowl, the grilled veggies balance out the amount of rice given. They have some of the best falafel I have ever had, and the sauce that comes with it takes the dish to another level. The entree portions are generally large, but not enough so that it can't be finished in one sitting. I've also had their chicken shawarma wrap, shepherd's salad and the cookie (sign up for their text / loyalty updates for your first free one!), and nothing was disappointing. Ordering via call-in elicits the quickest service for me, and the restaurant is always clean (though I never see it busy, which leads me to believe most of their service is takeout)."
"First time trying Shawarma Inn. Decided to order take out over the phone. The lady who took my order was polite and answered my questions regarding my order. Upon arriving, tye restaurant itself doesn't look much from the outside and the interior is quite simple. It does have ample seating. It wasn't busy around 830pm when I came in to pick up my order. My order was wrapped up for me when I got there.I ordered the Kefta Kebab platter/meal. It came with 2 large kefta kebabs, alot of yellow Mediterranean rice, a small salad/veggies, and squash. Also, it came with an order of pita bread and choice of soup, picked Lentil soup.Kefta Kebab was good, but it wasn't amazing. Rice tasted fresh. Soup was warm and tasty. Didn't like the squash. The meal was filling, and definitely good for 2 meals. For the price, it is alot of food and tastes good. You get your money worth for the quantity. Not sure if I would want to order the platter again. Definitely will try their wraps next time."
"Happened upon this casual service Mediterranean restaurant in Roscoe Village and came in for a combo. It has all the favorites. Sinya may be kind of expensive, but you get a lot. A lot of people get takeout, and if you eat in you may be taking a lot to go because the portions are big. There's many vegetarian friendly items including falafel, grape leaves, and more. Came at lunch and we ordered at the counter. It's about $12.95 for the cheapest combos, but these are still worth it. The large portions make these a good value. Many plant based items to get. The Falafel Plate has 6 pieces, which is impressive. Many other places only put in a few. This also comes with hummus and tahini for dipping, pita triangles, and there's rice and salad. Get the Vegetarian Plate for even more food. This also has baba ghannouch and grape leaves. Full of flavor and it's all fresh. It's not like many places that have the hummus in a can and it gets scooped out. There's plenty for meat eaters and vegetarians."
"Still a great go-to restaurant if you're craving Mediterranean food. The value is good: most dinners include soup and salad. I ordered the chicken kabob dinner plate, which had a generous amount of chicken , I would estimate about 4-ounces, and half my plate was covered with yellow rice. What makes the rice yellow? I always wondered that. The lentil soup is always a good option. The falafels we ordered came in 6. You can get the 12, but 6 was plenty. It came with pita bread, that I wish was more fluffy. But it was good overall. We also orders the hummus which was creamy and really good. Our waters were refilled timely, food was good, and the overall experience was great. This place was busy for a Friday night but we got the right amount of attention and service. After done eating, pay for your meal up front."
"I met a friend here for a weeknight dinner. We needed a place between the areas we live and, because she was leaving from dinner for a drive of a few hours, we also wanted something relatively quick. She suggested Zad and I eagerly agreed. It was quiet there at 6:30 on a weeknight. We arrived at the same time as another party of two and offered to let them order ahead of us. They were a little slow but that gave us plenty of time to browse the menu and make decisions. Zad operates as fast casual - you order at the counter and then pick up your food when it's ready (or, in our case, a staff member brought it out to us). The food is prepared quickly, or at least it was during our visit, and is made fresh to order.I had the falafel entree, which came with two sides. I chose baba ghanoush and rice. The falafel was seasoned well and fried to a crisp while still being tender inside. The baba ghanoush was delightfully smoky and garlicky. My entree came with two fresh, warm pita, perfect for dipping in the eggplant. We also shared hummus, which has now ruined all other hummus for me for at least a month. The restaurant was clean and quiet. In addition to the party who ordered ahead of us, there was one other table with a family. It was an easy place to catch up over delicious food and enjoy our visit."
"The Best Shawarma lives up to its name in every conceivable way. This highly-rated, family-friendly establishment offers a casual and cozy dining experience that beckons you to return time and again. Despite its small size, this restaurant makes a big impression when it comes to the food. The ambiance is welcoming, with comfortable seating and warm lighting that makes you feel right at home. It's the perfect spot for a family dinner or a laid-back meal with friends. The staff at The Best Shawarma are truly exceptional. From the moment you walk in, their friendliness and attentiveness stand out. If you find yourself overwhelmed by the delicious options on the menu, fear not--they have an uncanny ability to guide you to the perfect choice based on your preferences. It's as if they can read your mind, ensuring you get exactly what you're craving. I decided to try the shawarma sandwich, a decision I'll never regret. The first bite was a revelation. The meat was incredibly tender, each slice bursting with flavor. The spices were perfectly balanced, creating a symphony of taste that danced on my palate. The sandwich was generously filled, yet every ingredient was in harmony, from the succulent beef to the fresh vegetables and creamy sauces. Each mouthful was a delightful experience, with the flavors mingling together in perfect unison. The bread, too, deserves special mention. It was soft and warm, providing the ideal vessel for the juicy beef and vibrant toppings. Every element of the sandwich was thoughtfully prepared and impeccably fresh, highlighting the restaurant's commitment to quality. In addition to the fantastic food, The Best Shawarma also operates at a fast pace, ensuring that your meal is prepared quickly without compromising on quality. This efficient service is perfect for those on the go, yet the restaurant never loses its personal touch and cozy atmosphere. In a world where dining out can sometimes feel rushed and impersonal, The Best Shawarma stands out as a beacon of what a great dining experience should be. The combination of a welcoming atmosphere, outstanding customer service, and food that exceeds all expectations makes this restaurant a must-visit. It's no wonder everyone keeps talking about it. If you haven't yet experienced the absolute delight of a meal here, you're truly missing out."
"The food is quite delicious. On my visits the food came out quickly and was cooked perfectly. The service isn't necessarily friendly but they are efficient. The drink selection is neat. They have all of the standards plus a few unique options. The spicy hummus is a must! I wish it came with more pita. You can add on for a dollar. The wraps and lunch specials are also quite a good deal. It is busy but the line moves quickly. The spicy option on the lunch special adds a dollar. There are a lot of vegetarian options. The garlic sauce was pretty good but a little too oily for my liking. I would recommend this place and plan to come back each time I'm in the area. Priced fairly and clean. Tons of parking"
"I had heard from a friend who said that there is this Middle Eastern eatery in Hoffman Estates that is making some noise in social media about their hamburgers being so good. The restaurant is located in a small strip mall. The other restaurants are all Middle Eastern eateries in the strip mall.I walked into Falafel Hut, and it first was taken back. I thought I was in the wrong location. This place inside aesthetically looks horrendous. There is a large black tarp that separates the kitchen from the front area where you order. There's a small bell near the cash register that says ring for service. I thought the place was possibly under construction. I also thought I possibly entered from the wrong side and felt like I was in the back room. It's strange look at it hands-down.I ring the bell and this extremely friendly young lady asked how can she help me. I said I would like to try one of the hamburgers. The main menu that is on the wall has no mention of hamburgers. She then pulls out a small plastic sign that shows what you can order on a hamburger. From what my friend told me the way to go is get order a double cheeseburger with spicy gyro meat. You can then add chipotle sauce and take it from there. I ordered the way my friend suggested. The young lady asked me if I would like to make it a combo, which came with a drink and an extremely small fry. I said sure the total came to around $20.The young lady then said hold on let me see how long this is going to take. She disappeared behind the black curtain. I can hear her speaking with somebody and a voice came from the black curtain that said about 15 to 20 minutes.I sat and watched as a couple more people came in asking again for the hamburger. This was obviously turning into a popular item that they were not prepared for whatsoever. They told the people again that it would be 15 to 20 minutes. I could not see inside the kitchen, but from the voices I heard through the black curtain it seemed that there was maybe three workers total, the girl at the front who took the order, another woman who seemed to be the owner and a grill cook.I then hear my name Frank. A woman pops out from the curtain who I assume is the owner she told me she ran out of ground meat and that she needed to grind some more up. This will take another 15 to 20 minutes for her to grind the meat up. I told her it was fine, no problem. I sat and listened as phone calls started to come in, placing phone orders to get food and hamburgers. This sounded like they 100% could not handle how busy it was getting with their small staff. My 20 minute wait on top of my 20 minute wait turn into another 15 minute wait by the end of it. I finally heard my name called. It was almost an hour if not more, my hamburger was finally ready.I told the girl at the front counter before I ordered that I was going to review this location. I told her that when I do a review of a location, it gets exponentially busy people from everywhere. Come to try out what I suggest and it quadruples the business for a location, I asked her is that going to be a problem will you be able to handle it? The girl smiled and said we should be fine.I opened up my hamburger in my car to take a look at it. It was gorgeous. I took a bite, and it was absolutely delicious. The flavors were out of this world. The Gyro meat mixed with their ground meat was a perfect savory mix. The Gyro meat was tender. The creamy chipotle sauce did not overpower. It was a perfect companion to the salty meat. I will tell you this was an out of this world hamburger, but I also will tell you I don't think this was my order that I put in. The hamburger was not spicy whatsoever. I remember asking for the spicy Gyro meat. I also understood that it came with jalapeños and onions. I don't think I got that, I also ordered a double cheeseburger and I only received a single the phrase that came with it or child size I can't even call them small.I will tell you, because this is honestly one of the most unique and tasty hamburgers you'll ever try.Now there will be definitely some obstacles and give yourself some. time if you were curious to try this place out. They are very very slow. They are slow because they're lazy. They're slow because they are overwhelmed with this new found business.I also need to definitely say they need to do something with the aesthetic look of this place. It looks like a haunted house absolutely horrible if I was not suggested to try this place out one look at it from as soon as you enter the restaurant I would've walked right back out.I really do hope you all check this place out. I know a lot of my readers are pretty traditional and don't like to step out of their comfort zones but I have never steered any of you wrong. My reviews are always honest. I know what is good and what is bad in regards to what tastes good in the food. So I asked that you trust me and really check this place out you will like it."
"I visited Shawarma Garden and I was totally impressed. I was visiting from New Jersey, which has its own excellent shawarma, and I came in with no expectations. I ordered the Gyro sandwich, the Fattoush salad, and a falafel platter to share. Everything was amazing! The dressing on my salad was particularly fantastic. The staff was friendly and even delivered our food to our table and they remembered exactly what each of us ordered. Definitely check this place out if you're in the area!"
"Kabob Platter - chicken, shish, koobideh, veggies, rice, falafel, Persian saladSee attached photo. This platter is supposed to be for four people. And we added a few kabobs to it too. We had mixed opinions about the quality but I think it's decent-good. My main gripe is the quantity of food for $63 and more like 2 people, not 4. In the photo, you can see two slices of bread, one tomato, half an onion. Needs more rice, salad, and meat... More of everything overall.Service felt rushed, he cleaned up our plates pretty quickly (restaurant is mostly empty). He combined the extra kabobs with the platter which we didn't ask for. He was nice though."
"Among the best Mediterranean food around is located on 57th in Hyde Park in this awesome establishment. It always has had great service and food. Nile is a longtime favorite among locals and students. Maybe prices are kind of high on some things, but for around here they aren't bad. There's lots of healthy food for meat eaters and vegetarians alike and most people here should be happy. Got here recently and had lunch. It wasn't too busy in spite of it being in the middle of the week and UC students all around the place. The service was pretty fast too. I wanted to get a lot more but of course, budget. We had the Hummus. It's $5 for the appetizer. This is creamy and garnished with paprika. Good stuff and even though the portion wasn't large we got satisfied anyway. I had the Falafel Sandwich. This is $7.50 and is a pretty good size. Has many good things to choose from. It has quite a few meaty entrees but there's plenty that are not. This has some great things for vegans and vegetarians."
"I cannot believe I haven't already written a review for Oasis Fresh. It's truly a gem in the community. I was always very meh about Mediterranean food- just never really liked it much. But one trip to Oasis Fresh (unwillingly) completely changed my world. I think I went back every week for a month after my first visit..Food is fresh, consistent, so so so well-seasoned. Staff is always warm and accommodating. I'm obsessed with the chicken shawarma with basmati rice platter and it's a plus that the serving size is big enough for two meals. Long story short, if you like Mediterranean food at all- or even if you don't, just go and try it. You can thank me later."
