"My son and I went here on a weeknight and we were able to get a seat easily. Sakae is located near the corner of Camp McDonald Road and Des Plaines River Road, and has a spacious parking lot. The dining area is a good size, with roughly 7 or so tables and chairs, and a TV on one wall. We ordered:Tofu Yaki Udon Stir-Fried Udon Noodles with Tofu, Vegetables & Special House Sauce. Yellow tail roll -- the typical roll with yellow tail in the middleGold Rush 1848 roll, which had Grilled Eel, Spicy Crab & Grilled White Tuna With Avocado & Gold Flake. The gold flakes really drew my son in.Alligator Roll which had Eel & Shrimp Tempura with Crunch & AvocadoTonkotsu Ramen was the traditional ramen you expect, with creamy pork Broth, Pork Belly, Onion. The pork belly on this dish was phenomenal... so tender and flavorful. Our meals came with miso soup, which was a nice touch, especially on a cold winter evening. Service was prompt, food came out fast, and the overall experience was good.BATHROOM REVIEW: Located off to the side, near the back, the men's bathroom was single-person, although there is a urinal and a toilet. I always wondered in those situations, do I lock the door? I mean, I suppose someone is free to use the urinal while I do a #2 on the toilet? Either way, all was in working order, things were fairly clean, the sink was in working order. Decent bathroom. Sit or squat? Squat."
"Just found out about this place and it wasn't too far so I gave it a try. Not a lot of great takeout sushi places in AH/Palatine...I was pleased with the maki rolls. The classic rolls were fantastic, and the specialty rolls I ate were solid in taste, but the variety of specialty rolls leaves something to be desired. Felt like a lot were similar to each other. The woman taking the order over the phone was pleasant. Service was good when we got there to pick up the order. She made sure everything was packed and included before we left. Interior is pretty standard modern industrial fare. A lot of space...only had 1 couple dining in when I was there.I like the smaller packets of soy sauce they provide. As they are a new business, they have a 25% off all regular price orders. Don't know when that expires, but for now, it is a great deal.I'll be back the next time I order sushi. Certainly a business to give a chance. I saw a review commenting on a smell inside the restaurant. I did not notice any odors."

"Checked out this long time favorite in Glenview. It's one of the best places around for sushi. Nobori is a pretty nondescript looking place, but don't let that fool you. Has better looking and tasting food. There's good ways to save including the combos at lunch. After finding out about this place we made sure to come in the next time being around here. It's a bit of a ways from the downtown area along Waukegan Road. This is located in a pretty boring looking strip mall, but the food wasn't boring though. It's about $17 for a Lunch Combo. The Roll Combo comes with a choice of 2 rolls. Lots to choose from. We got a couple vegetarian ones: the avocado and the spinach. Except for being kind of small, these had some excellent flavor. These were fresh and we got pretty good service. Better place to get sushi it seems than among the places around here. It has really good value at lunch. There's lots more to choose including ramen and whatever."
"I love this place. They have a great selection of sushi, rolls, maki's, and appetizers. My favorite is the Snow Mountain (8 Pcs)Inside is shrimp tempura and cucumber, topped with crab meat, a wasabi tobiko mixture, and is drizzled with tempura crunch and a light and creamy coconut sauce. DELICIOUS! Love it. We also tried the dragon roll and the Sake. The salmon was very fresh and the dragon roll was delicious as well. I also like Octopus Fish Balls. Its very flavorful. What's cool is a robot with music brings your food. Small kids love it. The service is good and this place is huge! I highly recommend. It's not expensive, especially with the high food cost nowadays."
"Loved our experience at Omakase Yume and this is its more casual sister. Our neighborhood sushi destination and everything is good - from their lunch bento sets to their rolls and their sashimi sets. The latest pick up order of chefs selection of sashimi and Negi toro roll were so delicious, fresh and flavorful. I wish they wrote on the clear top what each fish was bc I would totally order them a la carte again. Dine service was always friendly and fast (shout out to Jasmin from prior lunch services). Highly recommend and good bang for your buck and the fish selection is good."
"Swung by to grab take out. The hostess was exceptionally helpful and rather proud of their homemade sauces, they did not disappoint. How great to be able to choose from a few different types of Asian dishes. Egg Rolls, Goyza, sesame chicken, Mongolian beef, green tofu curry... all delicious."
"Good Thai option in the area! I've been trying to find a reliable Thai option in the 'hood and I think I may have found it in Rice Cafe. My advice is skip the sush, stick with the Thai.Their crab rangoon is a bit different than what you may be used to as it's more Thai style. It's little deep fried dumplings with a thinner crisp on them and you get 5 little guys for $5. The filling is delicious and it's a great starter. The lime chicken is a dish I'd skip from Rice Cafe. This may just be my personal preference so take it with a grain of salt. I didn't think it had much flavor and it was just way overloaded with cilantro - too much so for my liking. Pad See Ew from Rice Cafe is one of the best I've had in awhile. Chicken was perfect, noodles were perfect and the dish was packed full of tasty flavor.I also ordered a few veggie maki rolls which were not half bad but weren't anything too amazing. Delivery was right on time, you can order through GrubHub, food is good and prices are very reasonable. I'll be back, Rice Cafe, oh yesh, I'll be back."
"This eatery is at the strip mall by the Jewel on Roselle and Golf. It seems unassuming from the outside but it is a hidden gem. It is a counter service and you will be greeted by friendly staff. Their go-lunch menu is reasonably priced, and you get a lot of food. I ordered the Katsu Go Lunch set which came with two generous pieces of fried pork, stir fried vegetables and rice. The box seemed to weight about a pound! The fried pork was crispy, and juicy but not oily , and the stir fried vegetables was flavorful and al dente (still has crispness). The sauce paired well with the pork - a little tangy and sweet. Overall a good spot! Overall a good lunch spot!"
"Came to one of the many sushi places in Arlington Heights. It didn't look all that good from the outside, just in a crummy strip plaza. Nikko makes it count on the inside though. Mainly because of the food. The prices are about average for good quality sushi, so not enough to be bank breaking to get some great rolls. At lunch it was pretty quiet inside. It may have to do with the location. This isn't the easiest to see or get to. At lunch they have a bit better prices. It's about $4.50 for most rolls. Got ourselves a few of the vegetarian ones. The Avocado was filled with creamy and fresh avocado, and the Sweet Potato was filled with big soft chunks of the tubers. Good place to get great quality of sushi and still not pay a crazy amount. It also has Asian cocktails but that's only for dinner though. There's a few rolls that are okay for vegans and vegetarians."
"Saw an article share this place just opened up & it did not disappoint. They've got 30% off Deluxe Rolls & Boxed Entrees as their grand opening special going on right now. We splurged and got 2 Deluxe rolls (Wajo Deluxe with 5 fish, avocado, cucumber; Spider Dragon Deluxe with soft shell crab & eel). But the surprise delight was the Cheese Crunch Special roll that's got crab, tuna, but topped with crunchy Cheetos & this awesome mango sauce that brings the flavors together in the most amazing way!! Also, solid miso soup & traditional seaweed salad that I always crave with sushi. Great service, fresh, well constructed & creative rolls with lovely presentation. We'll def be back!"
"Quality fishes and efficient service combine with an understated decor and friendly staff to make this place stand out. All good. Not a budget option, as you might expect."
"A wonderful place for generous portions of fresh, delicious sushi, sashimi and creative rolls (we thought tempura shrimp and soft shell crabs were standouts). We went with regulars, so they ordered. The service was outstanding and the owners wereWarm and gracious. Ending the meal with a tempura ice cream treat with chocolate sauce was the ribbon on the gift."

Went here on a weeknight for sushi with family. The seating area is limited, but it wasn't very busy. We sat at the furthest table from the entrance which sat the 4 of us. There was just enough room at the table for the 4 of us, however the seats were quite uncomfortable. Our waitress brought us menus and water and after we had a chance to look through the menus we placed our orders. We each ordered miso soup which is 'free' as well as our sushi or entree. They had a tv on the wall streaming ChiveTV muted which was really entertaining and distracting at the same time. The sushi I ordered was good. I didnt really have any complaints except some of the rolls fell apart when I picked them up with chopsticks, some weren't rolled tight enough perhaps. Also, some pieces of the rolls were squished together a little too hard so they were hard to separate. All the ingredients tasted good and made for a good dinner. I got a spicy tuna roll, a Philadelphia roll, an Alaskan roll, and a piece of eel, salmon, and tuna nigiri. The eel nigiri was very good, as was the salmon. The tuna nigiri was fine too. The spicy tuna filling in the spicy tuna roll was less processed than at other sushi places which was a welcome change. The spice level on it was good too. I liked the Philadelphia roll as well and it cooled off my mouth from the spicy tuna. The alaskan roll was also good. Not the biggest rolls in the world, but not small either. I was definitely full afterwards. The rolls were about 7 or 8 dollars each and the nigiri were about 4 dollars each. That's comparable to what Id pay for all you can eat, but I wasnt in pain from eating too much after this . Would come back again.

It was delicious and the sushi rice is on point. Give them a shot! The fish was fresh... have to try the spicy tuna. Salmon and super white were both fresh. Rolls are NOT loaded with rice, great proportion

After all these years and even after the pandemic, this is still our go-to place for sushi where the fish tastes right and the sushi rice is prepared properly. The rice always has the perfect balance of vinegar and sugar AND served at the right, warm temperature. Sashimi fish is always cut with the perfect thickness and tastes fresh. Miso soup is reliably good. Every nigiri, sashimi and sushi roll we've ordered in the past 10+ years has been consistently good. We are so appreciative of the care and consistent quality they put into their sushi and also other dishes such as ramen, fried soft shell crab and more.

This was a nice find, when I was looking for an AYCE sushi restaurant near where I was staying (near O'Hare Airport). It was located within 10 minutes driving or so from the airport, which is convenient. Price was reasonable, a lot $27 for dinner. Menu choices were not as expansive as in some other AYCE places I have been in, on the West Coast but good enough. The robot brining you some food items is a very nice touch, added to the fun experience as you don't see this in other places. Service was neutral, at best, overall indifferent. From the greeting at the entrance to the server. I was motivated to come tho this restaurant due to the proximity to O'Hare and the 4-Star reviews. Frankly, I don't see that; the food was decent from the fish quality/freshness but the nigiri was overloaded with rice. I really get annoyed when AYCE restaurants do this; I would rather see less fish than having to remove almost 1/2 the amount of rice so I don't get bloated with fillers. Not sure I would visit again, perhaps one more chance Is warranted. I hope management trains its servers to be a bit more personable and, mainly, ease up on the rice. It's unnecessary waste.

Came because I saw a post about TenGoku's 4 year anniversary! I was able to get a reservation same day and was surprised it wasn't more busy but could just be a weekday lull. We are too quickly before I could get a picture of each item. We didn't realize each of the smaller dishes had 3 pieces and ended up getting double of each for our table of 6 and also ordering another round of main dishes. They were out of Kama which was sad.We ultimately tried:Tako yaki - soft with a good ratio of octopusIkageso karaage - the pieces could have been smaller as the texture was a bit hard to bite through and was slightly large for a single biteAgedashi - very crispy outside and soft inside, good balance of sauce, bonito and scallionsChef Choice kushiyaki - a lot less than I was expecting (1 skewer of each type); my favorite was the chicken skin, super crunchy and good flavor. The shishito had a couple old peppers that were tough to bite. Chadol enoki - was okay, couldn't really taste the brisket but definitely had the texture of the enoki inside. Negima - tender, not super interesting though. Forgot what the last skewer was.Kimchi okonomiyaki - soft, good flavor, kimchi wasn't super sour.Maze Soba Udon - my favorite out of everything. The yolk made it creamy. The ground meat topping and sauce was very flavorful. There was a good amount of scallions to cute the salt/oil. They also had a little bottle of vinegar for you to add to taste. I would happily just eat this.Kuma maki - smoke salmon on top of the roll. Crab inside. The crab meat wasn't special, kind of taste like imitation crab. The roll was decently sized tho.Tokyo maki - couldn't tell where the octopus was but the spicy tuna mounded on each piece felt like I was eating tuna tartare. I liked this one.I wish they had like small vs large plate options with piece counts for the small hot dishes since it's hard to estimate how easy it would be to split dishes and let everyone try a little.Service was very nice. They checked in often, which was helpful when we realized we massively under ordered. Flavor wise everything was good, nothing too salty or weird. A smaller group might have an easier time ordering to share but I would love to see them offer more suggested combos targeted to larger groups as there's a lot to try.

Cold staff, hot food, nice atmosphere. Lunch special is pretty nice, comes with a pretty flavorless egg drop soup, heavy on water and cornstarch, light on egg. The shrimp kow was good, nice shrimp and vegetables. Egg roll is also good. Fried rice is greasy and lacking egg or meat.

Thai and Japanese in the same restaurant? That's a first for me. Usually it's Chinese/Japanese or Korean/Japanese, but it's not like anybody has any exclusives on combo cuisines.Used a Groupon, and was cautiously optimistic that this place would be merely sufficient. To my surprise, it exceeded my expectations in every area. I was leery with the restaurant not being full on a Saturday at dinner, but I was seated right away.I brought the wife and kids, ordered some Pad See Ew with beef (non-spicy - they even asked!) along with five different rolls - A Tell of Two Tunas (isn't it supposed to be Tale?), spicy scallop, spicy salmon, shrimp tempura, and spider. The kids devoured the Pad See Ew. Crisp broccoli (not overcooked) with noodles that were not cooked to mush. Thank you! All the rolls were fantastic. My little toddler insisted on having one of our rolls, and I gave her a piece of shrimp tempura. It ended up being a bit spicy for her, so she went back to eating her Thai food. A few minutes later, the sushi chef came to our table with a plate of shrimp tempura without any spicy mayo in it. He made it specifically for my daughter, because he saw that she had an adverse reaction to the spicy roll we gave her. WOW! How attentive and nice of him! It was on the house as well. We did not ask for this, and we were just so happy that we were being tended to like this. It was so special.Hands down, this is one of the top five sushi places in Chicago for the service alone. The quality of the sushi and the Thai we ordered is on par with some of the best we've had in the city. We will certainly be back.

The chicken teriyaki is delicious and the portion size is great The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the prices to dishes .... a tad high ... prices start at $16.99 and run to $20.99 plus the spinning iPad for the tip !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Otherwise the food is great ... all come with an extra small side salad ... and dishes come with a small extra sauce. If you are around then stop by and you won't be disappointed ....

"Ive been here a few times and they have never disappointed. That is why it's worth returning to an establishment. The service is friendly and quick. The food has been fresh and satisfying. I went with the 2 Maki Special lunch: Spicy Tuna and Spicy Salmon. Good and filling. My friend ordered the Spicy Salmon Salad which is her go to Fav and by the look of it I may need to try next time!"
"About a 1-1.5: Wagyu House Chicago by the X Pot has 2 other locations, one in Vega and one in LA.We made advance reservations for an earlier dinner for our group, which was super easy. The menu offers lunch specials, an AYCE yakiniku and wagyu meals at different tiers, an AYCE hot pot menu, as well as various apps and beverages. We went for the platinum level of the Wagyu AYCE Menu, with the added supplemental for the A5 Wagyu Experience - we tried the following meats:+the A5 strip loin steak+the A5 flank steak+the A5 otoro+the chef's special - wagyu cubesThe menu also includes apps, soups, sashimi, maki rolls, tartare, entrees, veggies, seafood/chicken dishes, and desserts. We tried:+black truffle edamame+chicken karaage+kimchi+spicy Japanese pickles+tempura shrimp+shrimp with garlic+miso butter salmon+garlic scallop+otoro uni caviar tartare+wagyu fried rice+wagy bibimbap+chili oil wagyu dumplings+salmon, yellowtail, sweet shrimp, and foie gras sashimi (note that the foie gras is limited per person)+wagyu uni caviar handroll (note that the specialty rolls are limited per person)+wagyu uni caviar nigiri (note that the specialty rolls are limited per person)+seared wagyu foie gras nigiri (note that the specialty rolls are limited per person)+otoro uni caviar hand roll (note that the specialty rolls are limited per person)Note that even though the menu specifically states that it's an 'AYCE', there are still 'limits' in terms of how much an individual can actually eat (such as the A5 strip loin steak, the A5 flank steak, the sashimi, and the specialty rolls...) - kind of a baiting situation, as it's not really what it's being advertised as. Why even include these items onto the menu? The supplemental charges do add up, and the value for the selection that's being provided is definitely not worth it.Service was fine, and the so-called 'immersive dining experience' was interesting; I felt that it was a way to distract the diners from really inspecting the quality of the food and what they were being served. No dice, Wagyu House.Free parking is available with validation.+'AYCE' menu is not an 'AYCE' menu+free parking with validation"
"LOVE. If I had to describe our experience in 1 word, it's love! We came by for an early dinner on Sunday and were immediately sat. The parking is paid metered parking, but there was plenty of it despite being in a busier area. The restaurant was decked out with colors, lights, palm trees and was truly an escape from Chicago. To start we had the Crying Tiger, and the Spicy Crab Rangoon. The Crying Tiger was full of flavor, and cooked to the perfect temp. The steak was delish with and without the dipping sauce, but to amplify the flavors... highly recommend dipping! The spicy crab Rangoon was a fun party of its own. The crunch from the wrap to the warm creamy crab filling, the spice wasn't too crazy with all the cream filling but with the sweet chili sauce it made for the perfect bites. We shared the lava roll, it reminded me of the viva Las Vegas roll from ra sushi, but this was filled with so much more. The crab meat on top had a nice kick to it. As if we weren't already full, we also ordered the general tso chicken sandwich, and the burger to try. Both of which were delish! The general tso was my pick between the two. The pineapple had a nice sweet and tangy flavor to each bite. For dessert, I wanted to try the Vietnamese tiramisu but they were sold out. All the more reason to come back again soon! The service was great, despite how busy they got the team really made each table feel special in their own way and were extremely attentive."
"Had reservations here for Friday night birthday dinner for my friend. It was a nice touch from the staff where they printed a personal Happy Birthday to my friend on her menu! All of the staff also wished she a happy birthday to make it extra special. The vibes are dark & moody with your Japanese influences. Seems like a great place for date night! Also a plus, the bathrooms are stocked with everything you need, including hair ties! Feels very personable. I got the chef seasonal nigiri selection and it did not disappoint! Each piece was well seasoned and some pieces even provided a smoky finish! The 10 day dry aged tuna nigiri sampler was also so delicious. The fish is on point here. I would come back here again! Just prepare to spend a pretty penny here, haha!"
"My first omakase experience & Definitely not my last!My husband & our friend's surprised me with this experience as part of my early birthday celebration. It is located in the same building as a Ramen spot, but it is downstairs. Very intimate setting & unique dining experience. I wish I remembered each course we had, but I did take a picture of each one. It was a 15 course & each one was delicious! Everytime I ate one, I said it was my favorite so far, then as I ate another, it was my next favorite. Our server/host was very knowledgeable in each roll given to us & engaged in our experience to make it even better as she answered a lot of our questions. The sushi chef didn't say much to us throughout the course besides the end of our experience, but he definitely enjoyed making them for us. You can taste how fresh each fish was & it just literally melts in your mouth. Not much rice given either, which is what I prefer, so you can taste each roll better. If these were more affordable, I'd go to these more often, if I could."
"My brother suggested this place, so we took a 15-minute ride from downtown to give it a try, and it exceeded our expectations! The rolls were small but incredibly fresh and satisfying. The spicy cucumber was tasty but could use a bit more spice. The spicy chicken had a real kick to it; if you're a fan of spicy food, definitely order it! It's packed with flavor. However, the Tantan ramen had a strange bitter aftertaste that didn't appeal to me or anyone else at the table, so we only had a few bites. Now, the desserts were absolutely incredible! We tried all three on the menu. I can't recall their names exactly, but one was a donut with matcha whipped cream, another was like a raspberry sorbet, and the third was a pudding-like treat with a hint of lemon at the bottom, topped with white chocolate pebbles for a crunchy texture. Each dessert was delicious and light--no guilt involved! I'd return just for those desserts alone!"
"Surprisingly a not-so-crowded spot on a weekend night. It's enclosed in the winter, but it was still a nice swanky spot for drinks and bites. The cocktails are excellent but expensive ($20). We tried a spicy salmon roll and taradito (sashimi in ponzu sauce). Both were delicious and perfect with our nightcap. It was cool how there was a chill dj as well!"
"It wasn't bad, but it was the only place open since the stalls next to it had lunch breaks during that time. There isn't a huge selection, so I'm so glad my bf pointed out B19 (sushi burrito) because I was about to order the sushi but it seemed pretty steep. I wish the sushi burrito had pickled vegetables instead of lettuce. They seem to have a lot of lettuce options. And you should keep the wrapper on because the bottom of the burritos aren't secured enough. But the beef in the sushi burrito was great. The B20 Katsu wasn't bad. It was crispy and a decent serving size. It came with a lot of sauce that was sweet. There was a small wait for the food, but nothing unbearable. Our food came out to about $32."
"I wanted to add 3 additional items that are worth ordering. Beef tataki, soft shell crab, and tonkatsu dinner. Tokatsu dinner you get a nice big piece of pork loin. It's crunchy and moist. 5/5. Soft shell crab is not overly fried it's just right. Tastes great with that ponzu sauce. 5/5. Beef tataki has great quality NY strip meat. Make sure you eat it with the garlic, green onions, and ponzu sauce. Those components will amplify the taste"
"I am always a little wary of modern Asian or Asian fusion restaurants, because I wonder if they are just regular dimsum restaurants with jacked up prices. After dining here, I have to say that the food is indeed very good...with somewhat jacked up prices. Our favorites:* Tuna Truffle Pizza* Steamed Buns with Pork Belly* Hamachi Tartare* Baked Snow Crab Handroll* Tom Yum Sea Bass* Crispy Rice with Wagyu Beef* Crispy Rice with Spicy Tuna* Escolar "The Great White"The sushi rolls -- Panda Roll and Red Dragon Roll -- were good, but can be good at other sushi restaurants. Similarly, the Adobo Fried Rice and Pad Thai were good too, but can be good at other restaurants. The only dish that I did not like was the Grilled Vegetables; it was extremely salty. For dessert, we got the Mochi Ice Cream and Coconut Cheesecake. Both were delicious. The Mochi Ice Cream had creative flavors like taro and sweet potato. The Coconut Cheesecake was light and airy, so you won't feel guilty for eating a few more bites. ;)"
"It was decent. We stopped here for dinner. We were seated right away and we're brought water. Drink order was taken. My wife had a $5 (Taco Tuesday special) Margarita. She enjoyed it. I tried it. A bit sweet for my taste. We ordered the Chicken Potstickers for an appetizer. Very nice. For dinner, we ordered:- Red Dragon Roll- Filet Mignon Japanese Hot Rock- Roasted Tofu and Shiitake Mushroom RamenMy wife enjoyed the Hot Rock meal, though not very filling. We loved the Red Dragon Roll. Note too that they use minimal rice in the roll. I was happy for that. I had the Ramen. I really liked the Soy Marinated Egg half. The rest of the bowl was just so-so in my opinion. I would come back for the Ramen, though their other varieties may be better. The broth wasn't very tasty or inspiring."
"I came here with my family and we got the nori grand sushi and sashimi combo which is an amazing deal for what you get. The fish was really fresh and everything is perfectly shareable for a party of 2-3. On the top we got the chicago crunchy crazy: this was so fun to eat because of the burst of tobiko eggs and I love the combination of fishes and the mexican roll: the flavors for this one was different with the fresh squeezed lime and chili oil but everything worked so well together! The ambiance was really cute and quaint and I would recommend to others!"
"Chicago Kalbi is a long time Albany Park favorite for unique Asian cuisine. It has more than it looks. Sure the place is small, but they can somehow get all this food out. For many they consider this the best place for Korean barbecue. This is a great long time local business that's been family owned for years. After coming from a few bars, we needed something to eat. In comes this place, or actually we came to this place. This is one of the many ethnic restaurants in Albany Park, and one of the best in the city to get Korean barbecue for sure. Not just barbecue. Of course vegetarians can get something. A few choices. We came later one evening after hanging around at some bars around here. Even though it's mostly meaty stuff, we found a few vegetarian items. We got the Yasai Gyoza, which were pretty cool looking. It's $7 for quite a bit. These are green colored things that look like potstickers. For sure would come here again. It's one of the favorites for Korean in the city, according to many lists and polls. Take a trip up here and try some things."
"Came to yet another Asian place in Andersonville. It certainly has quite a few, but this may be the best one. Tanoshii is best known for the great sushi. Basically it's a Japanese restaurant with a full menu, but really the sushi is what people come to get. Prices are pretty good for the portions and quality. Before going we already knew we were getting some of the sushi, and we got to the seats in front of the sushi bar. It's the best seats in the house. There you can see your rolls get made. Cool idea. Everyone talks about how good Chef Mike is, and that's because he's good: he makes some good ass sushi. As for what we got, it was the V-Maki Combi. It's $12 for miso soup and three vegetarian maki rolls. Choose which ones. I got the avocado, cucumber, and oshinko rolls. Good price. There was a lot of food for this. Even though it's best known for sushi, there's other stuff on the menu such as their own version of fish and chips. It's best known for the sushi though. The combos are a good value, and there's lots of options for the fish eaters as well as vegans and vegetarians."
"I'm just not that into you. It pains me to say it because any friend of GrubHub is a friend of mine. You sounded good on paper but when I picked you up, you looked a bit different than your description. I try not to judge a book by the cover because it's all about the insides and not the outside, right? I was sad when I discovered your substance was just as ugly as your appearance. I'm sorry, but I don't think we will be having another rendezvous. I paid $30 on Grub Hub for 4 rolls, 3 of them quite basic. I love sweet potato rolls - so much so that I ordered 2 right off the bat from Hello Sush for $6 eachi. It's hard for me to talk smack about a local business with lovely employees (the girl was very sweet when I picked up my food), but being completely honest it was the worst sweet potato roll I've ever had. It didn't have much flavor and I just wasn't into it. The description said spicy mayo and cream cheese and I think both were lacking or they put in a tiny tab - not enough to add anything to the roll. I didn't even finish the second sweet potato roll, which for me is like food disrespect...how dare a soul not finish all put in front of them!? Waste not, want not - starving children in Africa - don't be rude & finish everything - etc. etc. etc. The shiitake mushroom roll was actually quite tasty. I'm not sure what they soaked the mushrooms in but it added to the flavor. This roll was just $4 so not badly priced either. Unfortunately it had an issue of being very poorly constructed. It was so loosely rolled that when I picked it up, it nearly fell completely apart.I also got a roll which I don't see on their website menu but was on their GrubHub menu which may explain why it wasn't made according to what they listed. I ordered a Philly roll which was again supposed to have a spicy mayo but no spice nor mayo was on it. One good thing with Hello Sushi is there is a bit of parking right outside which makes it easy to pick up!"
"Kinta Sushi has one of those unassuming store fronts since it's tucked away in a small strip mall next to a convenient store and Chinese buffet, but they're actually pretty legit. We came in on a Saturday night and it was pretty empty, so it seems to be more of a take out spot. The portions are fairly generous at the price point and we've always had a good experience. All the servers are always hustling and make sure drinks are always topped off and the food comes out quickly. As someone with a more Americanized palate who doesn't typically eat more traditional sashimi/nigiri, I usually stick to the deep-fried specialty rolls. The King Kong and Miami rolls are my personal favorites. The other rolls our group usually recommends are the Cry Cry, Love Love, and Atlantic rolls.Overall, Kinta is a super reliable, local sushi spot. They are a small business with hard-working employees so I'd recommend to give them a shot."
"We went back to Kubo for my birthday and boy what a great time we had. Due to their success, they have added some more staff and our favorite server took great care of us as usual. I'm very pleased for their growth and success. We shared 3 rolls, two of which are standard favorites of ours, the Elginite and TNT, and a new one for us, the Dragon. The Dragon is now one of my favs as it's got some heat to it on its own and has some great crunch as it's fried. Please check out their menu for the details.Hearing that it was my birthday, both Sushi chefs came out and shook my hand, and allowed me a photo opportunity with them. They surprised me after our meal with a beautiful dessert, two small and delicious cheesecakes on a decorated plate. As always, they created a great experience with the ambiance, friendly service, and outstanding food. If my last review didn't compel you to try this place, please consider going there."
"It doesn't blow your socks off but it is decent for what it is... a hole in the wall casual dining sushi joint! Some of the wait staff seem like high school kids or temp seasonal staff. They're very nice! The food is pretty decent and average fair for stuff you could also make at home. The miso soup is the microwavable packets. It's a very casual spot but it is still priced for a nice dinner out. But for a nice sushi roll in the suburbs it is the place to go!!"
"Solid sushi spot in Lincoln Park. I've been here twice - once on a Monday evening and once on a Sunday late afternoon. The Monday evening was really busy and we had a short wait for a table. Sunday was more recent and we got there soon after they opened and were the only ones at first (it got busier later)They have HH on food and drinks from 4-6pm. I got a roll, nigiri, edamame, and a beer. With tip, it was just over $30, which isn't bad. My friends had a variety of drinks and food and all enjoyed it.Service was friendly and prompt. It's not a huge spot so I can imagine there's a wait at peak times. Will def be back!"
"Amazing no frills sushi restaurant. Started off with the house salad with some of the best ginger dressing I've ever had an an order of veggie egg rolls. 6 mini rolls, very satisfying start. Followed up with 5 rolls which was more than enough for 2. The sushi is packed with fresh fish and light on rice which I prefer. The pieces are huge too! Our waitress was attentive and I think also cooking some of the food? Very minimalist atmosphere but I could see them cranking out the take out orders. Will return."
"This is our new go-to Japanese restaurant. The main reason besides the great food is the wine list by the glass. We dropped in after the show and ordered the Acacia Pinot and the Raymond Chardonnay. They were both excellent. We had the lobster egg roll. Wow the portion size was immense. My wife had the salad. I don't think they spun the lettuce so the dressing was really watery. I've had better sesame dressing. Then my wife had the been and avacado appetizer. It was also huge. We brought most of it home. I had the tempura bento box. There is so much food. I brought the california roll home. I left the salad almost uneaten."
"Sushi Badaya clearly strives for excellence and their passion is palpable with every bite. If it's true that we eat first with the eyes, then your peepers are really going to enjoy a trip here. Beautiful plating accents every order, and is as wonderful to look at as it is to taste.Sashimi was incredibly fresh, oysters were perfectly prepared, and three sake courses paired excellently.Service could not have been better. Korean speakers will especially enjoy the sushi bar."
