"A perfect stop on our way to Wrigley Field! Another delicious Diner's, Drive In's & Dives spot for amazing food, leaving full and happy! We loved the Slayer, served over fires and the Iron Maiden! The Mastodon wasn't my favorite, but still good!Definitely will come back and try a few more burgers! In addition, they have a great selection of beer!"
"Love the Cali vibes at this restaurant!I have eaten at Summer House in Orlando, but this was my first time at this location. We had reservations, which are definitely needed on a weekend! Our server was great, but the food took a while to come out. To drink, I had a classic mimosa. It was a solid mimosa and had a good ratio of juice to champagne. To start, we shared the guac, which is always a 5 star dish to me here! Loved it. For my entree, I had the huevos rancheros. I thought the presentation was impressive, but the large quesadilla wasn't filled with cheese all the way and it was hard to get to the middle. I really enjoyed the flavors, but the presentation made it challenging to eat.We were too full for dessert, but the cookies are a must try here! I have had them at the Orlando location and you can order them to go here as well. The food is great here, but the vibes are really what you come for!"

"I am here in town for business I walked down the street from the hotel. I was seated immediately at the bar. Absolutely, awesome! I got to check out the different plates before ordering . The presentation was remarkable . The host was kind and friendly. She greeted me with a smile. I'm a southern girl so that was nice. My waiter was attentive and courteous. The food came out quick . This was a win !"
"This was our first night dining experience while visiting from out of town.We were difinitely floored by the quality of meats and the food that they served. When we arrived it was the fetival of events. The place was hyped and the place was packed on a Thursay night. There was already a line that was crawling with people. Thank goodness we had reservations because there was definitely a line that proceeded out the door. Once we sat, we ordered a customized seafood platter with their king crab cocktail and 4x additional shrimps. This was to die for.We also got an array of their seafoods and meats. We got their small filets and their sea bass. We couldn't help but get their sides of spinach cream and sweet potatoes. Our first night in Chicago was perfected thanks to our wonderful dining experience to the Gibsons."
"I've loved this restaurant ever since I first ate here almost a decade ago. There are a few other locations. The ice cream shakes are AMAZING. I would come here just for them. My mom said her taco salad was just okay & she wouldn't get it again. Normally I really adore the Cajun black bean burger but for some reason this time it wasn't as good as I remember it. I think they just had an off night bc normally the food is killer good. The Lavender Gimlet tasted like gin and lavender, haha, so if that's EXACTLY what you want - then get it. I'm really sensitive to the taste of alcohol so I wished it was sweetened or more sweet. I ended up pouring it into my strawberry milkshake, hahaha, which did the job...ALSO. They played Cigarettes After Sex ('Sweet'), Mazzy Star ('Fade Into You'), & LANA. DEL. REY. ('Let the Light In' ft. Father John Misty). Hearing ur favourite music in a public place is insaaaaane. Would highly recommend to everybody, even non-vegans! Thanks Chicago Diner :)"
"Another place that were told to try! Food is good, I would give them 4/5. It's easy to make a reservation through Yelp but you have to show up for them to check you in so you're actually in line! We had few dishes. I had their egg Benedict caprese, I expected it to be good but it was super runny I would give it 3/5 My husband and friends loved california omelet! Countryside skillet. We also had very berry and Nutella crape. Overall I would give them 4/5. Regular coffee was good, service was fast. I have had better breakfast places though but this get 4/5 overall Check in on Yelp for 10% off total bill"
"Service was fineOutdoor seating was fineThe sienna chopped salad was so good, I've been craving it ever since we left. I NEED to know what kind of dressing and if they'll sell it to me. I would eat this salad everyday if I could. Please give me another salad I need it Lasagna was good and a large portionMy friend said the Octopus was good but wished there was moreMy friend said the gnocchi was okay but a little too spicy for her"
"We were curious about Prime & Provisions, a steakhouse located in the River North area.Their menu offers lunch, HH, dinner, and dessert, as well as an extensive drink list.We came here for a birthday get-together, and we had a good time. We started off with:+Grilled King Crab bites - with matsutake shoyu, lime, and bearnaise+Black Truffle & Potato Croquette bites - with perigord black truffles+Kaluga Caviar Potato Skin bites - with bacon, creme fraiche, and aged cheddarI had the Lump Crab Caesar, which came with little gem lettuce, topped with some lump crab and garlic parm breadcrumbs. For the main, I went for the 16 oz bone-in, hand-cut filet mignon. The steak is finished with Wisconsin grass-fed butter. As a group, we decided to get sides to share:+Creamed Spinach+Roasted Wild Mushrooms+Parm Cheddar Potato Gratin+Decadent Macaroni & CheeseDon't forget to request bread service for the table, as that is upon request only.We had a booth seating, which was comfortable and intimate, so definitely request for that!Service was friendly and attentive! The restaurant itself has a classy vibe to it, with its nice dark woods and iron fixtures. The chandelier is very pretty!Reservations are highly encouraged. Limited metered street parking in the area.+reservations highly recommended+request the booth seating+order apps and sides as shareables+friend service+metered street parking in the area"
"We were staying two blocks from the Bad Apple this time in Chicago, and it seemed like it might be a toned-down, more family-friendly version of Kuma's, a place we've somehow never checked out despite many visits to the city: "gourmet" burgers, heavy rock and roll, etc., but with the volume turned down a bit. My developmentally-disabled brother-in-law joined us on this trip, and for some mysterious reason we acceded to his request to dine indoors on a beautiful 72-degree evening. (This was a couple of months back.) Inside, the decor is mostly a deep red with a strong, cartoonish dragon motif. And for early evening on a Monday, the music was pretty loud, although not overwhelmingly so--mostly guitar-heavy indie and "alternative" rock, much of which I recognized and most of which I liked. (Yeah, I'm old.)The titles of the burgers here don't really reveal much about what's on them---you'll need to peruse the menu closely if you're a first-timer--but the "Figs Is In" was a little more self-explanatory than the rest. It came with a fig & bacon relish, goat cheese, and smoked onion, a combination that clicked nicely and was less messy than I had feared. The burger itself had good flavor, although it leaned more toward medium-well than the medium I ordered. Handcut fries were excellent.Relatively extensive draft beer list with plenty of variety. Not at all inexpensive, but I guess nothing is anymore, least of all in larger cities."
"Updating my review because I GOT MARRIED AT RIVER ROAST! I want to shout out the amazing event team and event space, that only made my love for the restaurant stronger. 7 years ago when I moved to Chicago, I was nowhere close to getting married, but I saw River Roast's event space from a boat tour and said "now THAT would be a dream wedding venue." I'm still blown away that I actually made this dream come true! We booked River Roast in Dec 2022 for our April 2024 wedding after touring about 20 venues. We chose based on River Roast's location, amazing food, close to all-inclusive packaging, and dynamic pricing for the off-season. And OBVIOUSLY for the gorgeous patio space!! We had a great initial tour with a staff member who is no longer there, and our account was transferred to Jessica after we booked who was then our main contact. Jessica was so great!! She checked in often in the downtime before we really needed to start planning, and then was totally on top of things as we got closer. She knew all the details that other couples cared about or forgot and always made sure nothing was overlooked. When some floor plan things needed changing after our rehearsal, she got everything fixed right away so it was ready to go when we arrived on the wedding day. Jessica also went above and beyond, letting us store some things at her desk to minimize stress on the wedding day. The food on our wedding day was PERFECT and even better than our tasting. We had a guest with extremely severe allergies, and Jessica personally worked with him to make sure he could eat. And it wasn't just a bland plate - they brought him every side dish and even late night snacks tailored to his needs. We loved the menu options, and how we could have unique options like tuna tartar on wonton chips, but could still offer a classic steak and potatoes for the grandparents with less adventurous tastes. Several guests said the chicken was the best wedding chicken they've ever had. We could not have asked for a better venue. We were lucky to have a perfect April weather day and the patio was gorgeous. We had lots of out of town guests who loved being downtown on the river. Our photos are amazing. The River Roast team and event space truly made our dream wedding come true, and I'll be talking about it forever."
"Thanks to Metallica, this place was crowded. Max and I chose this place as we were taking my college friend out to dinner. Val has lived in Chicago for 30 years and I was happy that this was a first for all of us. The Prime Rib dinner is the real McCoy. The cheese curds were a nice treat as I'm always on the hunt for the best. I would describe the inside as being lush and reminiscent of a mob hangout that was taken over by urban hipsters. The wait staff was super friendly and wasn't in a rush to push us out due to others waiting for a table. Thanks for leaving a lasting impression on a dinner that took decades to bring us together."
"The best hospitality that I have seen in Chicago. Reservation was at 830, but there was an event so parking was a nightmare, they did not cancel our reservation or give us a hard time about it at all. Our waiter, Joe, is a gem. Such a wonderful waiter. The food was spectacular. The short rib was succulent. I will dream about the greens there- they were amazing. I'd say the misses were the grits (too herby) and the banana pudding dessert (too sweet)"

I've been to Kuma's plenty of times - both the Belmont and West Loop locations and have nothing but good things to say about dine-in experience. This review is strictly about catering. First off their catering manager, Lisa, has been awesome to work with. Perfect amount of communication and understanding about party size and food recommendations. She is on her A game, and you are in good hands with her. This has been the third time I've ordered catering from Kuma's and I can say it is one of the meals we look forward to every year. It has become a tradition of sorts to have Kuma's for the last week of our regular season football season. I would recommend ordering a variety of things off the menu, but if you are looking for some standouts here are a few must try's:Sliders - this is what Kuma's is known for, and the sliders are just as good as their massive burgers. At $4 each it won't blow your bank to order a good variety, I'd recommend 2 per guest. Ask about seasonal burgers if they can do sliders as well, as we were able to get the Sleep burger as a slider (thanksgiving meal in a burger - so good). My faves are the Plague Bringer and Led Zeppelin. Chili - no clue what they put in here to make it so good, but it smells like beer. Some of the best chili I've ever had. Mac & Cheese - really solid Mac. You can get add ins. Tons of cheese. Enough said. Pulled Pork - a small trey will easily serve 15-20 people. Great for a 'build your own' style with pretzel buns on the side! We also tried the pop tarts but I forgot a picture - they are super flakey and delicious, look great, and have a nice variety of flavors. I would highly recommend Kuma's catering for your next event, you won't be disappointed!

Off the bat this is a GORGEOUS restaurant, the decor and natural lighting are stunning. Highly recommend sitting in the middle room with the glass ceiling if you're able. A friend and I spend the afternoon shopping around some boutiques in the area before a dinner reservation. We started off with the watermelon mocktail (super refreshing) and I appreciated that it came in a nice glass with a garnish just like a normal cocktail would. For food we tried the poke nachos and rigatoni alla vodka and loved both. Our server was also very nice and gave some helpful recommendations with the menu. It also looked like they were known for their cookie/dessert display in the front entrance, with many people stopping in to pick up bakery items. We tried a lemon and m&m cookie and both were good, but definitely indulgent since they're pretty heavy (more like a bar texture). Overall seems like a great spot for a girls night dinner or to bring family since the menu has such a variety of options! Note that street parking is available only if you can find it, valet is $17.

A cute place! The restaurant had an inviting atmosphere and was clean. The food portions were huge. Price was reasonable! I had their West Coast Crepes with cheesy grits. I LOVED THEIR CHEESY GRITS. I would definitely get it again. Their West Coast crepes were delectable. It tasted yummy with their Yolk habanero hot sauce! I found their signature hot sauce to be more vinegary. I liked their habanero hot sauce more. My waitress was so sweet and attentive. She kept an eye on my coffee and made sure it was filled. I will definitely be back to try other foods!

The food here is off the charts 09/10. I had the Chicago cut ribeye and it was juicy, flavorful and grilled to perfection. We ordered several sides, the fries, the sweet potatoes, the twice baked potato, and the spinach. The clam chowder I slurped out of the bowl. It was all over the top delicious and the portions were Fred Flintstone size. Our waiter was engaging, funny, and he paid close attention to our every need. The inside of the restaurant is a wee bit dated, but it's the place to be seen. It's where all the celebrities go or have gone the walls are littered with photos of celebrities who were there and their signature accompanied their photos.I will be back later this summer to try some of the other dishes, such as their burgers and lobster. If you're driving, get the valet parking it is 16.99 much cheaper than parking in one of the parking lots near the restaurant. If you're on a budget, this is not the place for you. Three of us ate dinner no desserts or drinks and our meal cost us $400.00 which included a tip.

I came for the banana nut bread French toast. I was sat right away even though it seemed really busy. I was very happy. The French toast also comes with a side of peanut butter and syrup. This was my everything. 4 pieces of bread with bananas in every bite. It's really banana bread and not just bread with bananas. You can't really spear it with your fork, you need to scoop. It was noisy like all breakfast places when they're busy. But service was great and i got in and out quickly and full.

This is maybe my second or maybe third visit, I've previously found the food here to be just "okay". But, let me tell you, trying their pizza for the first time was a game-changer--I'll definitely be coming back for more. The pizza vanished so quickly, we couldn't even snap a full picture before diving in. We started off the meal with a cabernet, and wished we had room for dessert.Despite a busy summer evening, the service was excellent--efficient yet unhurried, which is always top tier in my book. The ambiance is a balance between upscale and laid-back, making it ideal for a night out with friends or for impressing your out-of-town parents.

Life is grand if you're willing to spend the $100 pp+ price tag. This plan B turned out to best one of the best dining experience I've had in downtown Chicago in quite some time. Add to that, reservations weren't made. I attribute it to the service and presentation of several items ordered.Smoking s'mores 5/5 A ball of decadent milk chocolate melts after butterscotch/caramel is poured on top, revealing toasted marshmallows, vanilla ice cream and graham cracker crumbles. If offered just the amount of crunch and was perfect for sharing. Whipped potatoes 5/5 Some of the absolute best whipped potatoes known to man. Caviar potato skin 5/5If you want to try caviar without breaking the bank, this is it. Lump crab Ceasar salad 4/5 Service separates a great meal from a truly memorable experience, especially at this price point. Kristina and Ricky exceeded all expectations. Their engagement, attentiveness, and genuine care transformed our impromptu dinner into an unforgettable evening. P & P should be proud to have such a remarkable team members. That said, the hostess was dry and anything but welcoming which is what you'd expect when entering. We were told there was no room in the dining room but when I checked OpenTable, it showed availability. However, we waited for a table to clear out in the bar area. Add to that, a couple entered with reservations while we waited and were seated in the bar immediately because the gentleman's attire didn't meet the dress code. The fact that they were seated ahead of us and we weren't offered the option to dine in the dining room in their place was rather surprising.

"Their Thai chili wings are a MUST!! Soo flavorful and filling. The portion sizes are also huge- perfect for sharing. We ended up getting full after two apps but we'll def be back for some more!"
"Quick reviewDoing a show at the Genessee Theatre, and this is where they had us order our craft service. A nice diversion from the usual "muska-cholly" and cold chicken, or sports-bar burgers most theatres give us.Fine Beef Kofta Kabab and Rice. I dig a Mediterranean feed."
"Came here for the Christmas pop up Mistletoe & Mischief to have some holiday drinks and bites. I tried the Mezcal coquito. It's a small drink but strong and flavorful. My friends got the Deck the Highball and liked that too. For food I got the tuna ceviche. It was good but I think they need to cut the tuna into smaller bites so it soaks in more of the flavors. There were a lot of flavors and it's refreshing but I've had better ceviche. The waiter had recommended the coconut curry so I got that too. I'm glad I got it because it was full of flavor. I like that they put the golden raisins on top of the rice and not inside the curry, because I'm not a fan of raisins. The coconut curry has some spice to it which I love. It was not heavy on the cream which I like, so you still get the spicy flavors. Overall the experience was great and the decor made it a fun holiday experience. I will be back to try some of the other food because it was so hard to choose amongst all the flavorful items. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive. He kept refilling eaters for us and asking about drinks or anything else needed. The manger came out to thank people for stopping by and we didn't feel rushed at all like some of the holiday pop ups do to just push people in and out within 60-90 min. So it was a great girls night to catch up when home for the holidays and enjoy some delicious food."
"This is in a nicer neighborhood full of high-end stores and has a great vibe. I was here with a large group and the food and service were middle of the road and hence the 3 star. Chicago typically has great food and perhaps my expectations were too high."
"Great diner spot if you're looking for some authentic Filipino style breakfast food. You could wait up to 10-15 minutes for a table if you're there during peak brunch hours, but the servers really work hard to clean up tables and take orders. I loved the combination meal with longanisa and tocino, but I opted for spam this time. Anything you get will always be a hit! The bill was about $45 plus tip. Highly recommend!"
"This spot has been on my radar for so long. This restaurant has a Saturday night (8pm to 10pm) Happy Hour. Woot Woot. The Happy Hour covers the whole establishment, so you don't have to sit in the bar to get the special. Btw the bar is super tiny. Anyway, we put our name on the list for a table. We were sat in under 5 minutes. In all honesty we were just coming for the $5 cocktails. Had I knew that we could sat down and ate, we would of gotten food. By the time we got here, we were already tipsy and fed. For drinks we I decided on the Malbec ($5 bucks) and my husband got the Old Fashion ($5 buckaroos). Decided to get dessert and one more drink before ending our night. I would come back here or another late moght happy hour. Everyone was super friendly and the atmosphere was old school."
"It was storming and I had to feed 12 dudes. Luckily, I was able to order us two 3ft subs for $30 a pop (though really $50 after delivery fee and tip since we didn't want to venture out into the rain). I'm pretty sure these babies were 4ft long tho and I've never got to order that much sandwich at once before. We got the italian combo and the meatball, both were solid, though not life changing. In a true world of abundance, all sandwiches would be 3 ft long. One day, my friends. One day."
"I've been wanting to come here for a while now. I have always been hesitant in trying this place out. I've heard some good things about them, but it didn't seem like my type of bbq joint. All I can say is I've been missing out. I called in my order and the staff was great on the phone and in person. The place was also packed. It was small inside with an old school vibe, but I can definitely see why it's busy. The ribs were damn delicious. I've always said there's two types of bbq food. Smoked bbq with a great rub, doesn't need bbq sauce. And then there's bbq food that isn't smoked and doesn't have a great rub, that one usually requires bbq sauce. And the sauce better be good. Twin Anchors is the latter. The ribs were perfectly cooked and literally falls off the bone. They're unfortunately not the best on their own, but their Prohibition Sauce is definitely one of the best bbq sauces out there. It's a sweet and spicy sauce and it's very addicting. I also ordered their half chicken to mix things up but I did regret not ordering two full slabs instead. The chicken was dry, lacked flavor and on the smaller side. I would have preferred for them to cut each piece individually to make it look like there's more food. I ordered this with their mild sauce which was ok. It reminded me of another bbq sauce that I wasn't a big fan of in the suburbs. I also ordered their creamed spinach which was really good and a baked potato which I also regret ordering. I will definitely be returning for their ribs and ribs alone."
"We found this gem in a little nook of Chicago! I wanted to be sure and wrote a review because it's not a restaurant that you'll walk by and pop in. Make this an intentional visit because the food is phenomenal, the decor is clever and the service is terrific. I do like efficient restaurant staffs that watch the entire restaurant to turn it over quickly. But have no fear, you won't feel rushed! The food is interesting and unique and DELICIOUS. Our family got an Eggy eggs Benedict with pulled pork over a waffle, Florentine crepes and an egg burrito. Each of us were impressed and we even shared a few bites with each other. We'll be back!!"
"We had a large party reservation for this restaurant, but we wanted to come early to grab a cocktail and chat before. The inside of this place was unreal. It's underground so it's a bit dark, but the decor and lighting was matched perfectly. Because we had such a large party, we had a prix fix menu. It consisted of a Caesar salad, steak or fish with potatoes and vegetables and a nice dessert. The food was good, but not piping hot unfortunately. During dinner a band started to setup to play some amazing music and we were in awe of the entertaining in the stage. He had an amazing voice and got the whole crowd energized. We all had an amazing time and I will give all the credit to this entertainer."
"What a great meal in hip surroundings and high ceilings. This is the place for a special gathering, meal or date. Service was slow in the beginning though I liked our server. Started with warm bread with eye catching scalloped-shaped butterThe roasted Brussels sprouts are to die for!! Yes, I'm that jazzed about a vegetable! Glazed with something sweet, maybe honey? I ate more of them than my braised short rib or crab-stuffed shrimp. I do wish the whole shrimp shell would have been peeled off. Fish & chips - huge light pieces, excellent cole slaw, Thumbs up to the burger and steak fries. Enjoyed the live music although the noise level got quite loud. The front patio is chill with nautical vibes, set back from the street.Prices are reasonable for excellent quality at a nice restaurant. For $36 my Braised Beef, Shrimp and choice of side was a deal. Had leftovers. Absolutely would come again and save room for dessert on our next visit!"
"First let me say I was here for business and I didn't pay (there was 20 of us at 2 tables) I was given a very limited menu so I can't say based on the full menu. The salad was very tasty the sides were good and the salmon was prepared very well. Service was impeccable and the place looked very nice and super clean. With all that said if I had to base coming back here based on what I did eat. I might say no thank you. Based on my coworker who has eaten here many times, I was told I missed out on some of the best steak in the Chicago area. So with that info. I would love to come back to try the steak. I don't normally base my review on limited menus, but sadly my company's customer paid and set the menu. I would be happy to come back again if in the area."
"Came here to get cussed and fussed out. That didn't happen, but the food was good. My son and I watched some videos about this place and thought it would be a fun place to visit. When we went in, they were not too busy. They weren't super friendly, but not as rude as we expected. This might have been because I had a kid with me.They talk pretty fast and take orders pretty quickly. The prices are good and the food came out fast. I did notice that the cashier asked all of the other patrons for tips. Again, she probably didn't give me a hard time about a tip because I had my son with me. I ordered the Char Cheddar dog with fries. My son ordered a cheeseburger. The fries were really good. it seemed like they were fresh cut. They were seasoned perfectly, not too salty. No ketchup needed for the fries. The cheddar dog was amazing. All of the flavors blended well. If I had known it tasted so good, I would've ordered two. My son said that he enjoyed his burger.Char Cheddar Dog 1-5=4.5.Fries 1-5=4."
"Came here for a work holiday gathering last week. We were in the Library, which is a semi-private room. The ambiance was gorgeous; there were books all over the walls so it was a very 'library' feel. They even had a fireplace going! The one downside to that was that that it got very, very warm in the room. We did eventually ask them to turn off the fireplace, which they were happy to accommodate.Drinks were good; I started off with a glass of wine and then, once I saw the menu, decided to try a black widow (allagash white, magner's cider, and black currant). The flavor was good, though the black currant syrup was heavy and pretty sweet, could have done with a bit less of that. The food was also good. We had nachos, cheese curds, and chicken tenders as shared appetizers. All were good (the chicken tenders were HUGE!), the cheese curds were a bit softer than I normally like, but the flavor was good. I had the adult grilled cheese for dinner, which was good, but could have been cheesier. The vanilla ice cream I had for dessert was great-large helping, and it was the good, rich, vanilla bean flavor.Overall, it was a good experience, and I'd go back."
"This place is old and worn, but gives you a real sense of nostalgia. A true Chicago diner. Filled with regulars dressed in well worn Bears attire talking sports and many young adults looking like they're nursing hangovers. lol I listened in on glassy eyed college kids talking about their Bumble hookups while I ate my breakfast. It seemed fitting. Lol The menu is very old school. Skillets, omelettes, hash browns etc.. You're not going to get trendy menu options, but that's not meant as a negative. I enjoy old diners sometimes. You can schlep in in your sweats and not feel the need to impress.I had a chorizo skillet. Didn't love the jarred jalapeños, but the chorizo wasn't overly greasy which was a win by itself. -I've had some really greasy ones in other diners. Service was good. Friendly. I'd never go out of my way to eat here, but if I lived in the neighborhood I might show up if I wanted a very casual sit-down breakfast. Grabbed a Butterfinger shake on my way out. It was the kind you can easily drink (eat?) with a straw. Not my favorite consistency for a shake, but since I ate it on the drive home, it was kinda perfect."
"Atmosphere: clean, bright, welcoming with a touch of modern!Service: quick, friendly and they have a dedicated person just to refill your coffee and water!Food: super gender portions, well prepared and tasty. The 3 egg omelet reads more like 6 eggs = consider sharing...!Wish they had a place like this in the Bay Area."
"Dropped by before a show and they did a good job considering our time constraint. I loved checking out the caricatures on the walls!"
"Valois was already 63 years old by the time I discovered it as a fresh-faced grad student at the University of Chicago nearby. It provided many a homestyle comfort food meal when I was far away from home, so I wanted to bring Jamie W. here to acquaint him with the haunts of my youth. Now Valois is over a century old, so don't bother doing the math. The cafeteria set-up and wide variety of all-American food are exactly the same as I remembered. The dining space looked expanded but the tables were the same formica tops. The veteran staff knows exactly what they're doing, so just follow their direction to move down to the register while your food is being prepared. I ordered the $11.75 Hot Beef plate. It consisted of four thick slabs of beef brisket piled on top of a couple of slices of wheat bread. There was a huge side of whipped mashed potatoes, and all of it was covered with hot gravy (photo: https://yelp.to/yQsGkqaV52). There was also a side of corn (photo: https://yelp.to/LgmvWrLaUE), and a big tumbler of Diet Pepsi (no Coke please) for the price. I was awestruck by the amount of food they served especially nowadays versus my youth.Jamie decided on the $3.25 Grilled Cheese Sandwich and the $2.50 order of French Fries (photo: https://yelp.to/hWkQzIr-ON). Delicious. Along with his Diet Pepsi, his meal only added up to $7.60. Such a deal that a struggling student would be grateful. Apparently native son Barack Obama eats here when he's in town as his foundation is on the next block. "The front window is covered with Michelin awards and the interior is super cute, so I had high expectations walking in.Came here for a work lunch and ordered the $24 Chicken and Waffles, which is front and center on the menu. Service was attentive, friendly and perfect.Chicken and waffles came out and the fried chicken was good. Maybe could use more seasoning. The waffle was a little underwhelming -- I'm sure it was fluffy coming out, but a deflated experience while eating.Waffles. Maybe it's because the chicken was served on top of the waffle? On a positive note, it is a good amount of food. I only finished half!"
"Tiztal Cafe is the only place I can go for Chilaquiles. I have been coming to Tiztal Cafe for the last 6 going on 7 years and they have remained consistent. I am so happy in this day and age with things becoming more expensive and it becoming easier to cut but on food quality to save money it does not seem as though Tiztal Cafe is taking that route.I love that I still see some of the staff that I saw when I first visited back in 2016. Tiztal Cafe gives you the feeling of a family restaurant even though they get really busy. The staff is always wonderful! No matter how busy the restaurant gets the wait staff is always smiling and patient with everyone. I truly cannot order an entree outside of the Chilaquiles because they make the best on the Northside. I have tried other Chilaquiles around the Northside and always find myself comparing them go Tiztal Cafe that I no longer try. I am happy that Tiztal Cafe still gives you large portions of food. I easily get three meals out of my breakfast. The trick to keep the chips from getting soggy is asking for the salsa on the side. I remember once when they accidentally put salsa on top, the waitress gave me extra chips to take home without me asking. That moment solidified why I keep coming back and telling anyone that will listen about Tiztal Cafe. The amount of food you receive is worth the price. They align with what you would typically see on the Northside. I highly recommend coming to Tiztal Cafe. If you aren't big on crowds, come on a weekday or really early in the morning on the weekend. The line moves fast if there is a crowd. Bonus: they have an outside patio!"
"This is an excellent restaurant I'd love to revisit over and over! It's 4 stars, not 5, now because the service is bordering on frustrating. That isn't to say it's anything but polite, but it is anything but timely. This restaurant has been around for awhile; they should be aware that the outdoor seating section's most remote part, with a lovely pergola shading it, is still part of the restaurant and should be visited for check ins. It took 20-25 minutes just for someone to come take our drink orders. Even in a huge restaurant (footprint wise), this would be pushing it. We had moments where my friend, who was facing more of the restaurant, would try to politely flag down our waiter (or anyone), but they would all walk right past us without any acknowledgement. We were not difficult customers in the slightest, not requesting anything odd, and giving nothing less than thank you's and smiles. 0:)Even so, the food continues to be impressive. Their menu gets different refreshes and additions, which is very cool (and a contrast with their dated interior). The jambalaya is worth ordering, whether you choose seafood or (for lack of a better term) regular. The gumbo is on the thinner side but NOT bland in any way. My friend liked her rosemary chicken sandwich. You can't go wrong with the menu, and there are many options, but not so many that it's Cheesecake Factory levels of "where are they keeping all of these seldom-used ingredients?" I just wish the service could be less frustrating, but that is something that I'm sure can change for the better!"
"I will say that my five stars is really a solid 4.5. I usually rave about appetizers but am disappointed with the main at new American restaurants. Here it was opposite. The apps we're terrible or bad just weren't my speed. People did enjoy them. Tuna crudo was absolutely delicious and I highly recommend it. I ate most of it. The wild mushroom tartine was good but I felt like the mushrooms they chose did not have the bold umami I was looking for.Whipped goat cheese was just not there and needed more garlic for sure. The fingerling potatoes were very delicious and loved up to the hype for sure. The broccolini an squash were pretty average but good.Service and the bone in ribeye were the absolute highlights of the night. I actually saved some ribeye to bring home for the wife. For a non steakhouse, the meat was absolutely perfect when cooked to chef's choice temperature. The mango cheesecake was delicious but I was way too overstuffed at that point."
"My boyfriend and I had a lovely dinner here before a show the other night. It's a great space that's kind of hidden away. Service was friendly and attentive and they gave good recommendations. The wine selections were lovely. My boyfriend really liked his cocktail. We loved the harissa carrots, and the mussels were tasty. I thought the lamb ribs were a little too sweet, but they were cooked beautifully and it was a nice big serving. He loved the Bolognese. We'd come back for sure. Seems like they do some really nice things for groups from what we saw. I look forward to a cozy winter dinner inside sometime."
