"Always stop here whenever you're in Philly! Good mix of classic and new flavors. This time had the Caramelized Banana. It was a hot evening and the line was long. The poor guys working were working hard and keep up the pleasantness. Same charming old-timey decor."
"Best ice cream I've had thus far in Philly. Grabbed a shake on my way to the airport. I have no shame...I finished it by the time I arrived to the terminal. Located inside the Reading Terminal Market, Bassett is family owned and has been in business at this spot for 4 generations, since 1892. There are several options to enjoy, cones, cup, shakes and pints to take home. The staff was helpful with suggestions but I made my own creation. A vanilla shake with chocolate swirls inside and caramel drizzle on top. That was some real tasty goodness. The line moved fairly quick and the atmosphere was great."
"This place is a must. They have such unique flavors and the ice cream itself is not icy at al and super creamy. It's very decadent and the cone is a must. It's sweet without being overpowering with sugar."
"Philadelphia has several excellent small batch ice cream platforms for your tasty enjoyment. Weckerly's on Girard Avenue in Fishtown, is one of them. I was recently there for a Yelp Event where we sampled a scoop of one of two available flavors. It was smooth, silky, sweet and addictive. In addition, I purchased a take home Classic Sandwich (Vanilla ice cream between Chocolate Wafers), which was even more compelling that the Graham Berry concoction tasted while in the house. The sandwich was thick with 'scream - more than an inch wide - while the choco layer was stable enough to hold the opus together and last to the very last lickin' bite. The vanilla was creamy and inviting; while the wafer offered a soft embrace with mild flavor that did not dominate their combination. Family loved it, too. Made me wish I had started with those other mixtures which were definitely the best way to experience what Weckerly's really had to showcase. Apple Breakfast, or any flavor between shortbread cookies....Are you kidding me?!?!Return visit mandatory!"
"This place is so cute! And it's been around since 1945. Water ice was so refreshing today since it was 95 F. Prices are reasonable and flavors are fresh. The pineapple tasted more like dole whip than artificial pineapple which I appreciate. They take cash or Venmo, so just come prepared. There is an ATM outside as well"
"While taking one of my stepsons on a tour of the University of Delaware, we decided we had to stop at the UDairy Creamery. The students run the farm and make the ice cream. The ice cream was excellent! There are many flavors and a "single" is a large amount of ice cream. I had strawberry and loved it! It's a quick stop off I-95 if you're in Delaware. Give it a try!!"
"Some of the best ice cream in Philly! Not too sweet and awesome that they have Asian flavors like pandan and taro."
"This place was packed on a soaking wet rainy night, it is popular for a reason! They have a lot of options but it's pretty simple like most ice cream spots- you can get a flavor roll with toppings combo or you can make your own. Mine was pretty easy to make- the strawberry plus sweetened milk, graham cracker, and pecans. Even when full they have the routine down to a science and the only slow downs are customers who can't figure out their order or who keep arguing with their kids. My order was made and ready in less than 10 minutes, with a great serving of ice cream to enjoy. There's some seating inside and it turns over pretty quickly but you may find it easier to grab and go. If you want a sweet treat that's not just another ice cream cone, definitely check this place out."
"The best icecream in town! The best service too! You'll never have a bad experience here. The flavors are homemade and out of this world. The people working are lovely and you can tell they enjoy their job! Wouldn't recommend anywhere else!"
"As the other Yelpers have mentioned, the sweets here are a bit of a splurge. But to me, they're worth it.Personally, I'm addicted to their slammers with lime Italian ice. I'm also a huge fan of their popular gelato custard with vanilla ice cream and mango Italian ice. On a hot day, there's nothing more satisfying than having a smooth, silky, and refreshing vanilla custard ice cream along with the sweet and tangy mango Italian ice. Service here is pretty quick. Even when there's a line, they don't take too long to serve each customer. And since it's a take-out only spot, don't expect to get a seat inside their shop since there isn't one. Fairmount is a beautiful neighborhood with lots of scenic areas to enjoy your icy treats though."
"Cute little shop ice cream was delicious would definitely bring my friends from out of town to try"
"I really love their raspberry sorbet and dairy free yogurt! Perfect for lactose intolerant or dairy allergies. Everything is priced by weight. I usually get coconut, Oreos, mochi, and fruit. They have some sitting tables outside and there's a small fountain. Even when it gets busy the service is quick. There's also a grab and go fridge with ice cream sandwiches!"

I visited The Franklin Fountain to celebrate the completion of a work program with some colleagues. While I have heard of The Franklin Fountain before, I had actually never been before. The Franklin Fountain is located in Old City and is styled after a 1915 ice cream parlor. This ice cream parlor is on the smaller side and there is no seating inside. While you wait, the line forms in a fairly tight aisle. There is also no air conditioning. There are a wide variety of options offered here. The Franklin Fountain sells soft serve ice cream, water ice, vegan ice cream, pretzels and cookies.I got the chocolate chip ice cream. It was very good and consisted of vanilla ice cream with chocolate chunks. I liked how they included chocolate chunks rather than small chips - a nice texture. The ice cream is served in a Chinese takeout container, which was cool. While there is no seating inside, there is seating outside including under a tree. We ate our ice cream there. It was a nice conclusion to the program.Altogether, I enjoyed my time and ice cream at The Franklin Fountain. I hope to return!

Fast and friendly service! I ordered the butter pecan ice cream in a cup, my husband ordered a strawberry milkshake. The ice cream was wonderful and my husband's milkshake tasted of fresh, authentic strawberries. Definitely recommended for a sweet treat in Philly

Delicious homemade ice cream with unique 20+ seasonal and classic flavors. Whenever we drive up from Northern Virginia to King of Prussia, PA, we make a pit stop at UDairy for a sweet treat with a generous ginormous serving! The ice cream has a high freezing point and doesn't melt right away. While there's no option for a split scoop, you can get a Kiddie scoop or a flight of 4 flavors. My favorites include All Nighter, Mint and Cookies, Nom Nom Nom, and Delaware River Mud Pie, and Ch Ch Ch Chocolate. All Nighter - The sweet and savory flavor tastes like mocha with a coffee base and cookie dough, chocolate sandwich cookies, and fudge. Bursting with flavor in every bite.Ch Ch Ch Chocolate - True to its chocolatey name, the flavor is frozen cocoa ice cream with chocolate chunks, chocolate sandwich cookies, chocolate cake crunchies and a fudge swirl.Delaware River Mud Pie - Chocolate Cookies and Cream was delicious! Nom Nom Nom - Fun blue ice cream with cookie dough and cookies and cream. Mint and Cookies - Tastes like a thin mint cookie. My preference over the Mint Chocolate Chip.Cookie Dough Dynamite - Loaded with cookie dough. The flavor was a bit more bland and I would opt for Nom Nom Nom.1st State cobbler - Wasn't a big fan of the peach ice cream with blueberry swirl and cinnamon. Fun to try, but very sweet! The Apple Cider didn't quite hit the spot either. While the housemade crispy waffle cone adds a nice crunch, it's surprisingly very sweet and doesn't have that savory sweet pairing with the ice cream that I was hoping for. Impressively, I was able to make it to the bottom of a cone without any ice cream dripping onto my hand. No mess! Before getting sprinkles, just ask the shop if they have them as they sometimes run out. One time the staff topped off my ice cream with a thick coat of crunchy round nonpareils instead of sprinkles (the shop ran out), which overpowered and ruined the Nom Nom Nom flavor. While there's a porta potty, it's a bummer the restrooms aren't open to the public.Always excited to stop by and grab a scoop!

Updating to 5 stars based on my recent experience. Had the chocolate ice cream in a coconut shell topped with coconut flakes, banana and strawberry. I know this combo is not rocket science and is quite well known but I am not lying when I say the chocolate is the most amazing flavor here! Try it and thank me later!

Great prices and great value! This definitely hits the spot on a hot day! They have lots of options for ice cream bases and toppings as well. Very clean and spacious store. My favorite was the chunky monkey, but I would go again to try the other flavors

"The name says it all. Uncle Mike's Homemade Ice Cream. Tucked away in a small strip center on York Road, just off Street in Warminster, PA, with small blue sign above the store, it is a little hard to find as you drive by. But, I caught sight of a roadside flag as I approached, and was able to pull into the parking lot without problem. The shop is bright white, with limited indoor and outdoor seating. Mike carries about 12 - 15 flavors at any given time. Only hard ice cream. No soft serve. There are a combination of young and older kids working there who are friendly and efficient. I ordered the two scoop medium size cup of butter pecan and peanut butter cookies & cream. They were large scoops and plenty for this lonesome traveler. It became obvious that Unca Mike really did mix his own flavors. Originally, the peanut butter cookies and cream had been two distinct flavors, but he must have been running low on the ingredients for both, and just threw them together to use them up. Necessity being the mother of invention, the result was the best of both worlds. Excellent peanut butter swirl and cookies and cream playing off each other like old friends who don't visit too often. So, in fact, I received 3 flavors within the two scoops. No complaints. They all were richly creamy and bursting with taste. Very good ice cream all around. At $4.50, it was a excellent deal. This Uncle Mike knows from ice cream."
"Great food. Nice people. What's not to like? Surprisingly good chicken cheesesteak. Don't order saltpepperketchup. Just get pepperketchup with fr onions and a smear of mayo. It's already seasoned."
"Sweet Nel's was AWESOME! This eatery has some unique features. For one, the interior is large, it has a lounge area, at the front, plenty of outdoor seating, and they give you a mini scoop, of any flavor.... on top of your selection....for free. A VERY NICE TOUCH. I've been to hundreds of sweet shops..... NONE do the mini scoop. That's on top of large portions, which were greatly appreciated. The selections of ice cream and gelato are huge and their staff are very friendly, patient, and quick to serve. You will definitely enjoy your visit to Sweet Nel's and enjoy their uniqueness."
"This was the heaviest banana split I have ever held in my life. I couldn't even finish it. It was absolutely delicious. The young lady was so sweet when I'm back in Philly I'm going there again."
"You will have a hard time choosing a flavor at Ava's! Plenty of water ice and ice cream flavors on the daily. The homemade ice cream flavors are a favorite. Double Dark Oreo and Holy Cannoli are some favorites. They have converted the store into a walk up ordering window to make ordering safe and quick. There isn't really anywhere to sit so take your cool treats to go. Ava's usually closes in the wintertime. Great local family run business you can feel good about supporting!"
"This coffee is ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!!! Found this when my daughter was at Abington hospital having our first grandchild... love Jenkintown, my first apt was there years ago ... needed a good cold brew and hubby found this place ... it was the best ... always told everyone about this gem in Jenkintown, made me wanna move back to the neighborhood lol anyway I'm up in Bucks County and saw they now sell the brand at Bolton's Turkey farm market which is so close to me .... I was THRILLED! Made my first batch of cold brew with it and it was awesome !!! Thanks for having it available there ,"
"This is our super casual date place. We like to ride our bikes here a couple times a month (it's about a 6.5 mile ride). Get an ice cream - relax and people watch - and ride home. I always get the same thing. Soft serve cone w jimmies. My bf varies what he gets every time - and every time he is happy w his result. This week he got a cherry gelati. But he has gotten sundaes and hard scooped flavors too. Everything has been great. Def don't miss out on this gem!!"
"Cheated on my beloved Kung Fu Tea on Saturday and went to Tsaocaa only cuz Manayunk does not have a Kung Fu Tea.I have to say the Thai milk tea here is pretty great, and might I even say, better than Kung Fu Tea's Thai milk tea. This was my first time at Tsaocaa and price wise it's comparable to Kung Fu Tea, maybe a little more expensive, but barely. I like their tall plastic cups too. Probably not the most environmental friendly but they are just a little fancier than the other cups from the other Bubble Tea shops.I don't think they have an app where you can customize and order your drinks ahead of time, but the staff was quick, and I was in and out of there in 5 minutes."
"Absolutely 100% five stars!Great serviceDelicious soft serveVarietyI ordered chocolate vanilla swirled with peanut butter syrup. Never had peanut butter syrup before it wasn't bad. We will return."
"Nice, local ice cream shop with amazing quality ice cream. I usually pot for chocolate but chose butter pecan and received the best butter pecan of my life. The pecans were candied and I've been thinking about it for days now. Service is efficient despite the fact the Ice cream is meticulously weighed to prevent overages. There are a couple of seats near the window and they offer dog treats for your furry companion. We'll definitely be back."
"After brunch on a beautiful fall Sunday afternoon, walked to Franklin Ice Cream. This was my first time here, and I was fascinated by the old-fashioned look inside.Checked out all the many flavors of ice cream and decided on the butter pecan with walnuts in maple syrup. Quality and delicious ice cream. I highly enjoyed it! The ice cream also came in a cool takeout container! The staff was helpful and friendly."
"A nice, made-to-order mix-in ice creamery with friendly service. I got 2 scoops of chocolate mixed with chocolate covered pretzels and Oreos. I really wanted snickers but didn't like how finely they ground the topping; I wanted chunks. The cream was delicious and very filling. I couldn't get close to finishing my 2 scoops."
"OwowCow is one of my favorite places to go for hard ice cream. The staff is so very friendly and accommodating. I love the originality of the flavors and the monthly flavor specials. The ice cream is great quality and the parking lot is a bonus. They have a freezer and sweet treat to go items so don't forget your cooler.A summer staple!!"
"Of course I had to celebrate National Ice Cream Day with a visit to my momma's local favorite ice cream spot! Last time I came, I tried the thai ice tea which I'm gonna overlook for being just meh because they aren't known for that. But today was extra good! My fave thing used to be the apple pie gelato, but I think the pecan praline might give it competition! I was going to just order one scoop in a tiny cup, but their coco puffs covered ice cream cone starred a hole right through my foodie soul. I decided to embrace th calories and get that cone. The cashier asked me, "Is it ok if the coco puffs are being held on the cone by marshmallows?" I replied, "You just made my day."The ice cream itself was soooooo good. I mean most of their ice cream is good, but my goodness I love the taste of pecans and this ice cream was full of them. I glad I only ordered one scoop because I would've passed out from two. The icecream did melt pretty quickly down the coco puffs making it a but messy, but it was also pretty hot outside. Happy ice cream day to all!"
"Everything homemade and delicious. I got the cotton candy, and it was amazing. Their space is pretty small. With two indoor seating tables that probably fit a total of 6 people. They also have a bench outside in front of the shop if you want to sit outside and enjoy the sun. Great local ice cream shop with some fun flavors!"
"Truly wonderful on this warm spring day. My little one and I came and sampled all the flavors. The woman behind the counter was so pleasant and happy to give us the samples. We got there around opening and people were already popping into the store less than a half an hour in. As for the water ice itself, it definitely has a fresh quality about it that I haven't experienced before. I loved the fruity flavors and babygirl thought hers was so yummy!"
"I've gone to this place a couple of times now and enjoy it. The first time I went, I stayed awhile and enjoyed the atmosphere. They've got some cute places to sit and enjoy whatever you get- ice cream, pastries, sandwiches, or a variety of coffee and teas. The first time I went I got a matcha latte, which I thought about for days after having it. I went back for one, but they were out of matcha that day so I had a mocha, which was also delicious. I've had a croissant and for my hubby a pastry that was cherry once, apple another time. We enjoyed all of them. The people who work here are kind and helpful. No one's been rude to me here"
"Came here a week ago. The line was looooonnnng this day. Nothing new, but the person behind the counter had no sense of urgency. I had to buy like a gallon for a party and for some reason they gave me a hard time about it lol There are gallon buckets sitting in the back, just hand me one! lol The water ice itself was solid as usual. I still want to try one of their fancy pretzels but I didn't have the patience to wait another 15-20 minutes."
"The custard is the best! Quick service and plenty of parking. They have Philadelphia Water Ice which you can combine with custard for a gelati. Generous portions - the small was huge!"
"I scream, you scream, we all scream for... great staff, quick service #cheatday #sweettooth"
"This is a solid rolled ice cream place. You get 3 free toppings per cup. Got the Matcha Love with my choice of toppings: condensed milk, shaved coconut and walnuts. They seem to be using quality ingredients as the walnuts tasted fresh and were quite crunchy. I got the condensed milk to complement the nuttiness of Matcha and it worked so well - but that's just my preference. They didn't skimp on either of the toppings."
"Rolled ice cream is a work of art and this place knows how to make it! Topped with all kinds of lovely toppings, this is a delicious treat and enough for two to share in my opinion. We ordered the Brownie Boy; vanilla ice cream with bits of brownie chopped into it, flattened and rolled to perfection. Topped with whipped cream, strawberries, chocolate syrup, an Oreo and a little animal cracker! The place has some seating inside and a few tables on the outside. It's located on a busy corner, you'll have to find street parking. We arrived in the evening on a weekend night when it was busy but the orders came out in a timely manner."
"Great soft serve and their carnival food is piping hot and tasty too. They also have cheesesteak egg rolls that were fire. No place to eat inside, just a window to grab and go."
