"Popped in for a few drinks after having dinner a few blocks down. Super cool decor and fun specialty cocktails. It was crowded on a Saturday night with people playing pool and people at the upstairs and downstairs bars. We typically go to the upstairs bar and were able to get a couple stools up there. We had to wait a bit for service, but it was as expected on a busy night. A cool place to go for happy hour and the food looked good too."

The Bloody Mary was a real hit with my husband, and I was OBSESSED with my chicken and waffles - nearly licked the plate.We found out they have takeout beer, too - looking forward to taking advantage of that when I'm drinking again!"

"We've been to Varga a few times to grab drinks, but this time we decided to order from their ever-rotating food menu. Food is a craft here, and everything they do, they do it well. The wall is decorated with pretty pin-up girls, one in particular that I really like. ;)Needless to say, they have a great craft beer menu that even features a lot of local brewers (we decided which brewery we'd like to visit next after our drinks this evening!) We ordered a Hefeweizen and tropical IPA that were both so good, we ordered them twice and switched beers! There is a great variety of beers on the menu too, so there's certainly something for everyone.I ordered the mac and cheese, because once I saw their instagram post with the photo, I knew I had to come in just to try it. It was so tasty, in that little cast iron pan! The portion size doesn't look that big, but it was actually just the perfect amount. My fiancé really enjoyed the popcorn chicken as well. Service is always just right too. We'll be back again for sure."

"My new favorite Irish Restaurant. Irish restaurants to me have such a warm, friendly, bonded feel to them. It as if we all step outside from the world's troubles and we are all here to drink, eat, and perhaps dance to an Irish jig, I am thinking the Devil's Dance Floor or a similar rowdy fun bar song.Five in the afternoon my girlfriend and I arrived at The Plough & The Stars after participating in a scavenger hunt at and around the Olde City area. We worked up quite an appetite, luckily my gf explained to me they start you off with some of the finest warm Irish Soda Bread to start your meal. The bread was some of the finest I have had in my life in regard to Irish Soda Bread and I took it down in record speed. They also had an option of brown bread that was a bit sweet and much different from the comfort of Irish Soda Bread.We both ordered the Guinness Casserole which consisted of meat that was so moist and delicious you truly did not need a knife to cut through the meat. The Chef in all serious must have a talent for presentation on all their mash potatoes as this entree came out very artisan looking for the portion of mash potatoes. I saw a presentation of the potatoes for the pork ribeye platter, and they had stellar black grill marks on the top of the mashed potatoes. Bravo making a relatively simple side beautifully presented, if anyone was going to do it I guess it would be the Irish : )I started with a 20oz of Harp on draft which our server described as the bud light of Irish Beers. He was not wrong, but it is a very easily drinkable beer. After downing about half of it I asked to sample the Smithwick's Irish Ale. This was the winner of the day and I immediately moved to a 20oz of Smithwick's. The only spot I could possibly ding the restaurant on is I ordered a piece of the flourless chocolate cake to go and when seeing the receipt well it came in at just shy of ten dollars for a piece of cake. I just tried it this morning as I am writing this review and it is slightly bittersweet chocolate that will certainly cleanse your palate after a meal, but I would opt not to get next time.Really enjoyed our stop in here and would highly recommend you check it out if you are in the city and looking for some solid Irish Food.As always people SYOY!!!"

"I went during happy hour the best time to sample several items on the menu. My choices the pork bao buns, kimchi, Korean hot chicken sandwich and a citywide. I Loved the pork bao buns and kimchi. The Korean hot fried chicken sandwich was just so so it lacked the hot chicken and spicy Korean spice punch, it was kind of bland. The restaurant bar is a little narrow but a fair amount of seating. There is additional seating with heated lamps outside. Nice ambiance with an open kitchen. The service was excellent!Would I return? In a heartbeat!"

"Friendly staff offering good service. Sat outside on the Piccini benches in the street. Felt a little strange when the buses would drive by and you could just reach out and touch them. Food was good. My crispy chicken sandwich that I added bacon to was very good. Nice flavor combination and the thick well done bacon just made it better. Everyone else also reported enjoying their meals. The burgers came out cooked as requested. The octopus was tasty. The fries could have been a bit more cooked. Overall a nice place to have lunch and drinks in the city."

"Bank & Bourbon offers breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner, with an extensive drink list.We came here as a large group for a later dinner, and we ordered the following starters:+Charred Romain Caesar Salad - with romesco, sourdough croutons, and a lemon-caesar dressing+Grilled Octopus - with shishitos, tomato confit, and a red onion vinaigrette+Seafood Chowder - with lump crab, creme fraiche, and herbs - this was stated as having a bit of a kick, so if you're not into spicy, avoid!For shareable sides, we had:+the Parmesan Rosemary Fries - the parm could have been layered and sprinkled throughout+Chive-Roasted Local Mushrooms - I love mushrooms, and this was my favorite for the night; could have eaten multiple servings of these!+Roasted Baby Carrots - with tarragon-honey butter; the carrots were not really 'baby'-sized, but they could have been roasted more; most of them were pretty raw+Smashed Fingerlings - served with herb butter; some of these were overbaked and more on the dryer side, and the skins were toughFor the entree, I had the Sixty-South Salmon - this came with a sambal-maple glaze, sweet potato succotash, and miso butter; the fish was very overcooked and very dried out. The sambal-maple glaze made it hard to chew, as it was super hard. Wasn't sure where the miso butter was. The sweet potato succotash was just okay, but could have been seasoned.I also tried their Blueberry Pie for dessert, which was more of a tart - topped with a blueberry compote and a scoop of crumb cake ice cream, this was just okay; I did enjoy the generous amount of blueberries, but the crust was very dry and crumbly.Service was very friendly; I wished extra silverware or larger spoons were offered with each of the side dishes, as we did keep requesting for extra wares. I also wished that they left pitchers of ice water at the table, as most of our drinks were waiting to be refilled.The vibe of the restaurant is dark and chic, and this place seems to be a favorite choice for HH.+Chive-Roasted Local Mushrooms+friendly service"

"Cedar Point has been the gift that keeps giving for me over the years, going back to 2015. I went on the first date with my wife, who lived in Fishtown at the time, there that summer. I moved to the neighborhood the following year, and it became our go-to quizzo spot until we moved out of the area. During that time, it also got me into eating brussels sprouts, as they were part of the chicken wing appetizer. From 2018 - 2022, we didn't frequent it much because it took more effort to do so; we tend to get tunnel-visioned (or just lazy) about restaurants and bars in the neighborhoods we live in. Well, we moved back to Fishtown about a year and a half ago (yes, we've bounced around a fair bit), and Cedar Point is very much back in the mix. The kitchen does strong work, outdoing a number of similarly sized pub-fare places in the area. Wings, pierogis, the rotating variations on their Drunk & Cheesy sandwiches, the street corn, red curry chicken cheesesteak, chicken & waffles? All things I or people close to me can vouch for from the last few months (or this week, in the case of the chicken & waffles happy hour sandwich and the elote). They also offer a nice, thoughtful range of cocktail options and a solid beer list. Touching base on a few other things I like about Cedar Point:- I mentioned a happy hour menu item - their happy hours give you impressive bang for your buck. While I haven't been there to partake, they also offer a 12 - 4 weekday lunch special and maybe even some kind of late night one (don't quote me on that one)- they still, eight or so years on from when I used to go, offer a leisurely paced Monday quizzo/trivia that starts around 7:00 - their outdoor patio space is a great spot to post up on a mild dayIf you're interested in a casual bite and/or drink in Fishtown or an easy Monday out, you can do a whole lot worse than CP."

"I walk past this restaurant all the time and there are always people eating here. Finally tried this place and wow, the food was better than I expected. We got the shrimp taco, Philly cheesesteak, and the tavern wings. Their portions are big - the shrimp taco comes with 3 tacos. For the wings, you can pick different sauces on the side if you can't decide. Their wings are big and nicely battered & fried. I didn't try the cheesesteak but friend said it was good. There's nothing fancy about this place, but it feels like an ideal "hangout spot" when you are looking for a casual night out with your friends. I can see why there are always people here!Overall: Perfect spot when you're picking a place to catch up with a friend! Great food for the price"

"Another couple and ourselves live in Bensalem and go to Center City Philly often. We usually spend our time in the Gayborhood, Old City, Rittenhouse Square, or South Street. Dont go to often to Fishtown, so we dont know a lot of places there. This past Saturday we went to Lloyds Cocktail Bar after searching VisitPhilly for a place to go in Fishtown after a show at the Arden Theater. We just hoped on the El to Girard Ave.The coctails were great, the food was great and the service excellent. In fact our group regularly drinks at home a little known cocktail made with Suntory Toki Japanese Whiskey and since they had Toki behind the bar we asked the bartender if he would make it for us if we told him how. He said yes, he made it and it was great. We'll definitely be returning."

"We decided to take stroll in Chinatown and find something to eat. We had no luck either restaurants didn't look appetizing or they didn't let us order when we walked in. We ended up ordering Cavanaugh's Rittenhouse via Uber Eats. We ordered BBQ Wings, Mozzarella Sticks, and a Chicken Quesadilla. The wings were ok. I wish they were fried hard and then tossed in bbq sauce. The mozzarella sticks were oddly huge and there was way too much cheese. Plus the itty bitty marinara sauce they gave us was laughable . I thoroughly enjoyed the chicken quesadilla. It was awesome. The sautéed chicken, caramelized onions, and three cheese blend sent my palate to places I'd never think bar food could. The quesadilla was massive and stuffed to the brim. For bar food this place is expensive."

"My wife and I really enjoy this place. We went and ate outside one evening a few weeks ago. We're vegetarian and vegan and they had lots of great options to choose from. We got a little carried away and ordered way too much food as the portions are pretty substantial. But it was all very good. We ordered a few fried appetizers and also go French fries with our meals and that probably wasn't the best idea, BUT, they know how to fry stuff. Totally crispy outside and nice and amazingly juicy inside.... whoever was on that station was next level. We also really enjoyed their beers! Highly recommended and we look forward to coming back. We just have to just order less next time!"

"And now, another entry in my "Dining in the Age of Corona" series: Jack McShea's for dinner. As you can see from my previous reviews, this is a longtime favorite restaurant. They previously did not do anything with takeout or delivery so I knew patience was needed as they worked out their process.The ordering experience was fairly easy and straightforward using an app on their site. We were hungry and so it was a big order, and we were thrilled to be able to get beer delivered with our food too!Delivery was not fast, again, big order, new process, but it was still quite warm and everything was well packaged. It's been about two weeks since we got our order and so I expect things will be smoother. The food? YUMMMMMMMM.OK first, the meatballs. I think they have kidnapped one of my Italian aunts because those meatballs in the meatball grinder were as good as any of them make, and that is saying something. They were perfect, nice seasoning, dense without being chewy. The Triple Decker Grilled Cheese with prime rib was likewise amazing, the NMA devoured it. They always do a great cheesesteak and this was not disappointing. The only light spots were the appetizers, crab quesadilla and Panzerotti were good, but not the rockstars of the meal. Salad was fresh, crisp with just the right amount of dressing on the side.We loved the beer - the one thing that slightly threw us was that they 'recycled' six pack holders so they didn't match the beer itself, totally fine, a moment of confusion but all is well and I like that they re-use stuff. Who cares what the holder says? Victory Brewing Golden Monkey FTW. We are definitely ordering from them again, maybe we'll pickup as we need the exercise anyhow to work off all the calories. They're good people running this place who we are happy to support."
