I don't think I've ever been to this area Southwest of the loop, but I made the drive because I was curious about Honduran food and Jillian was the only spot open at the time. The restaurant is clean and spacious, with music blaring over the speakers and a TV screen projected on the far wall; it also looked like tables had been cleared to create a makeshift dancefloor, but I couldn't be sure because I was the only customer there. None of the staff spoke English, so I did my best with my broken high school-level Spanish. I tried to stick to more traditional items for take-out:Baleada Especial - one of the quintessential Honduran breakfast staples consisting of a large flour tortilla glued together with refried beans, hard cheese, and crema. This one also happened to include scrambled eggs and minced meat, though it was supposed to come with avocado and did not. The tortilla was fresh and earthy, but the ratio of filling to wrap was unfavorable, and I think some salsa would have helped it taste less dry. It was humongous though for sub-$4. Pierna Sencilla con Tajadas - so I asked for fried chicken platter with tajadas (plantain fries), but the employee on the phone apologized and said they only had this "knee" dish, which I think was pork but I'm not positive. The meat was savory and well-seasoned, but not super tender or variable in texture. It came with a cabbage slaw and this creamy mayo-dressing that added a great deal of sweetness and soaked into the fries. Enormous and affordable at sub-$10, a seemingly common theme here. As a newcomer to Honduran cuisine, I can tell that these dishes have all the elements to be really delicious, but I don't think Jillian necessarily put forward the best examples. Plus, language barrier notwithstanding, the staff was a little snappy and didn't seem particularly inviting when I picked up and paid for my order.

This is my first time trying Honduran food and I must say it's delicious! I tried the baleadas and the fried fish plate and I was so full. They give you so much food for a good price. It took awhile for the food to come, but everything was freshly made. My friend also got a baked chicken plate and plantains. Everything was good and the restaurant and employees were nice. This place is my new favorite!
