First Watch

First Watch is a great Mexican/American breakfast hybrid restaurant that I'll recommend to anyone on their way to work (or just looking for something on the weekend). I had the Tacos al Pastor and the Avocado Toast, and I'll routinely come back for the Tacos al Pastor. I love the homemade masa tortillas and potato hash topped with sliced avocados, shredded Cotija cheese, and pickled onions. They also have a juice bar, and while the Morning Meditation left me disappointed (all I tasted was orange juice, nothing else), the mix of lemon and lavender in their Purple Haze is enough for me to keep ordering more.I'm only keeping this review a 4/5, because upon my first visit, it was really cold inside the restaurant. I wanted to warm up with some hot coffee, but the coffee was served after I received my meal (in hindsight, I probably could ask for it to be served first). So I had to endure a while before I could warm up. In future visits, I'd rather just use the outdoor seating they have or just order takeout.Speaking of takeout, I'd prefer if I had the option to place my order over the phone instead of just using the website every time. It takes less time to order over the phone since it takes a while for me to enter in my credit card information at that time. But when I called their number on Yelp, the automated message system just told me to use their website. I'd rather swipe my card when I go to pick up my food so there's no need to enter in anything.

Food and waiter were great. The problem is that when paying w 2 credit cards (even split), the suggested tip, 20% in our case was 20% of the entire bill rather than half. Essentially our waiter got a 40% tip! This same thing happened a couple of months ago at the restaurant in the heights and the manager acted dumbfounded and "never experienced" this bug in the system. I think it's a racket that the restaurant uses to increase waiter tips.

This morning I had the opportunity to join my team members for breakfast at this location. It was my first time visiting a "First Watch" Overall, I give the restaurant a 4 out of 5 rating. I'm comparing it to similar restaurants. They do have a great menu selection. My table's favorites included the French Toast and the elevated breakfast sandwich! I enjoyed a delicious healthy avocado toast. Service was wonderful. Friendly seating host and wait staff. The coffee isn't freshly ground I'm somewhat of a coffee snob. Other than that, I'll definitely eat here again!

Staff was friendly, i loved the atmosphere! Nice water fountain by the outdoor seating. My favorite thing about first watch is the endless healthy super food options. Some substitution options with no up-charge! If you like tasty clean food and freshly pressed juice, this is the place for you.

The morning meditation, trifecta with waffle, chorizo omelet and banana pancake were realllly good. Overall I wish there was a little bit more bigger portions for the price but alll the food was great. The jams that came with the waffle and pancake were amazing.

Started coming here when it was The Egg and I. I'm not sure if ownership is different- there's a lot of similarities so maybe just a new name? I thought the food overall improved though!My options were limited as I can't eat red meat, so I went with the smoked salmon eggs Benedict. It was sooo good! The egg was perfectly poached, and the salmon wasn't too fishy. The salad that it comes with is light and lemony. I loved that I was full but not heavy afterwards.My husband got the Trifecta, also a great choice. He said the bacon was cooked perfectly and the Belgian waffle we shared was both soft and crunchy- just perfect!My only complaint were the potatoes. They were definitely undercooked to the point they were raw, but I didn't deduct as we didn't say anything to the staff, who were pleasant and helpful. By the time we tried them, we were getting full and more focused on the rest of the food.

Ate breakfast here with friends at about 10am on a Saturday. Just strolled in and got a table. When we left about 11am they were packedI ordered a Hot Chocolate and an orange juice. The orange juice was freshly squeezed and tasted FRESH.I ordered a side of the Million Dollar Bacon which is four slices of their hardwood smoked bacon baked with brown sugar, black pepper and cayenne and drizzled with maple syrup. The bacon was delicious. The strips were long and not even the syrup canceled out the crunchiness of the bacon.I had the chimichanga which comes with potatoes and fresh fruit. The chimichanga had whipped eggs with all natural chicken, chorizo sausage, cheddar & monterrey jack, and avocado. It was simply delicious. I also ordered a large milk with this plate.Everything was top notch and delicious. Glad we tried this place simply because it was convenient.

So I went here hoping for a nice gluten friendly meal. I did end up with that but I'm a bit disappointed there weren't more options. Plenty of breakfast places give more options than a sub for gf toast. It was also a bit difficult determining what was gf or not but we did figure it out eventually.But I did really enjoy what I got which was a potato breakfast skillet of some kind. Just a really well done meal. Felt spoiled. It was well balanced too/seemed healthy.My friend was also very pleased with her meal though she had an issue with the soda tasting weird and they brought her a different kind.The ambiance is quite nice. Overall quite enjoyable.

I have eaten here two days in a row.First day I had a delicious sandwich and salad. Day two was a Chicken Pesto Hash special for breakfast. The dish was good, but the potatoes were outstanding.

I really wanted to like this restaurant. The staff was absolutely amazing. All of them were very attentive. I tried to keep in mind that this was a cafe/diner. It wasn't really loud and there were a lot of families that were eating here which, to me is great. While I looked around I realized that a ton of people were eating waffles and did not order a waffle. Darn.... I ordered the chickichanga. While the meat had great flavor, it was a chicken/chorizo blend, it was lukewarm at best. The potatoes were very very good. Seasoned wonderfully and piping hot, which just drew more attention to the fact that the rest of my food was not. Maybe I should have ordered the waffle.
