Citadel BBQ

If I could give zero stars I would. I walked in, the place was completely empty. There was one gentleman behind the counter. He looked at me, didn't say a word, and started putting water in the food holder. He continued this and looking at the passersby for about 5 minutes. I walked out. I will be coming to TMC for the next several months and was looking for good food around the hospital. I will stay clear of here and let my coworkers and patients about my experience.

My visit to this wretched restaurant left me feeling violently nauseated, a nauseating sensation that consumed me long after I escaped its clutches. Despite a facade of friendliness, the staff's inefficiency was an agonizing test of my patience, as a solitary soul sluggishly sliced meat and served customers at a snail's pace. But the true affront came when I received the bill--a jaw-dropping $50 for a trifling trio of sliced beef sandwiches, a pitiful offering accompanied by an insultingly overpriced assortment of chips and drinks. This audacious display of culinary highway robbery has left an indelible mark on my memory, ensuring that I shall never subject myself to the horrors of this abominable establishment again.In summary: They need new cooks, due to the salt levels in the brisket.The food needs to look like the pictures on the Menu.The health inspector needs to be called to make sure the food is being stored and cooked properly.Good thing they are located in the Med Center because you will need a visit to the doctor.

Nasties bbq I had in my life. Mac and cheese no flavor and the potato salad taste sour. I'm only giving a 1 because the meat was just ok.

I visit this casual BBQ joint for dinner and breakfast . Now we all know how competitive the BBQ market is in Texas so the rating scale is quite strict . I ordered the 2 - meat combo ( Turkey and chicken ) along with 2 sides ( cauliflower and greens). They had 2 sauce choices regular and spicy which were average Everything was good and the sides we're even better . My breakfast tacos were very good as well - sorry no pics tho.. All in all - it's worth the trip but with so many options for BBQ , there are many choices as well!

At first, my mom and I were a bit hesitant on whether to try this place. We were visiting Houston for doctors appointments and this place is down the street from our hotel. When we walked in we were immediately greeted and helped! My mom ended up getting some breakfast tacos and I got the one meat plate with Turkey and Mac and cheese and broccoli. For the price, you get a good portion of food. Personally I wish they had a bit more sides to choose from but the ones that they do have are very good. The Turkey was also very delicious! It's not the BEST bbq I have ever had while living in Texas but it was very good and I would go back!

The food was good, as I love bbq and it would have to be horrible for me not to like it. However, it was hot in the restaurant, leading me to believe that later in the day, the food may not be safe to eat. In addition to that, the heat may be why the employees don't have smiles on their faces. They're very dry and I had to chase down the server to tell her of my 2nd order. She had already handed me off to the cashier. I asked that the bbq sauce be on the side and found that they didn't put it in the bag. Before I could sign the receipt, the cashier guy had walked away...no tip for that! I attached the receipt to the ink pen and had to gently toss it across the counter so that they could get it. As I was getting condiments another customer commented on the "borderline-rudeness" of the server and how hot it is in there. (Medical Center location)

If I could give 0 stars I would. Went in on 2/1/24 with a group of 5 during lunch. There were about 3 people ahead of us. Not too bad considering it was during lunchtime. Well we were wrong. It took about 30 minutes for us to even to order/pay.There were only 3 people working at the time. 1 cutting/serving the meat, another to serve sides and working the register, and the 3rd was the cook in the kitchen. The woman who was at the register literally walked out and left. The cook ended up having to come up to the register to help but that only made it worse. The chef took the food in the to-go container from the tray to put it in the bag and my coworker paid for her food. Tell me why the chef just stood there and stared at the empty tray and then looking at us and back to the empty tray. This went on for a few minutes. We had to remind him that the tray was empty because it was from the previous order they had just completed. When I made it to the register I had asked if they offered bread/pickles/jalapeños (this is free/standard at all the BBQ places I've been to - most have them out in the lobby for customers to help themselves). They said yes and so I said I'd take some. They let me know that it was located in the kitchen and they couldn't get me some. By the time our group finished paying we didn't have very much time to eat as our lunch break was almost over and the food was all cold. I would never recommend this place. It's not worth the time to go. Do yourself a favor and skip this place.

Pic shows about half of the meat in this sandwich - so it was a good amount of turkey. Little pricey for what you get - $17 for sandwich, chips & drink. Want anything special but wasn't bad. Nice place though - good atmosphere. Didn't love the sauce. Wouldn't go back. Gnats constantly flying around me. Wanted a hot side but they all looked like they had been sitting there for hours.

BBQ was not what I was expecting. Chicken had no skin, that's not BBQ. The menu did say smoked chicken breast my bad. Did not finish my 2 plate meat.Service was very fast.Atmosphere is very welcoming and they have a happy hour which I took advantage of last time.My recommendation would be the baked potato all the way with chopped beef. That was good last time.
